    Many of us grew up with the message that vegetable oils are safe to use as a heart-healthy alternative over traditional saturated fats. Found at your typical grocery store, these clear, tasteless, and highly refined and processed oils include corn, soybean, canola, safflower, and sunflower oils. These highly unstable, highly inflammatory oils were given a gigantic push by advisory groups we trusted, including the American Heart Association, the National Education Cholesterol Program, the National Institutes of Health-and even our government’s own dietary guidelines. It turns out the truth about oils is not so clear cut.
    In today’s episode of my series I’m calling Health Bites, I talk all about seed oils, why they shouldn’t be a part of your diet, and the type of fat and oils you should consume instead for optimal health.

I’ve lost 20ib my body feels loose, I no longer get headaches, the brain fog is gone, my diverticulitis has definitely improved and best yet my blood pressure went normal after only a week.

    I stopped seed oils long ago and switched to grass fed butter, olive oil, coconut oil, gee and been on an animal based foods diet the last two years and am healthy than ever in my life. Don't believe what one person on the internet tells you. Make sure to get your cholesterol levels checked because too much saturated fat raises cholesterol levels. That was certainly the case for me. Palm oil laden junk food is how I ended up with high cholesterol as a vegan. Avoiding things with more than three grams of saturated fat per serving is how I lowered my cholesterol.

    Mark, LDL and HDL are not cholesterol; they are lipoproteins that carry cholesterol esters and triglycerides. But how many people even know that they also carry Vitamin E, COQ10, and Beta Carotene as well as other anti-oxidants? The main issue with the lipids is something called Lipid Peroxidation which happens much faster when the anti-oxidant levels are low. Seed oils increase the need for vitamin E, and studies have seem to suggested that carnivore animals don't become deficient in E. Exercise also increases the need for vitamin E. When you lower the LDL, yes you may lower the amount of cholesterol esters, but since those anti-oxidants are also in there, they also get lowered, which could be the main explanation as to why there are so many damaging side effects from taking statins. I personally love coconut oil, but I want to try unrefined red palm oil as allegedly it has a high Beta Carotene and vitamin E content. It's also about 45% saturates which is perfect for someone like me in ketosis

    • @karlwheatley1244
      @karlwheatley1244 8 місяців тому

      Actually, it's the number of lipoprotein-carrying particles that is the most reliable predictor and cause of heart disease: More is worse, and people with very high LDL will have higher apoB levels.

    Seed oils, such as canola, soybean, and corn oil, have been widely used in the food industry due to their low cost and high availability. However, there is some evidence suggesting that these oils can contribute to inflammation in the body, which has been linked to a variety of health issues.
    Studies have shown that seed oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids, which can lead to an imbalance in the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio in the body. This imbalance can cause an increase in inflammatory markers and contribute to the development of chronic diseases.
    It's important to note that not all seed oils are created equal, and some may be healthier than others. For example, extra virgin olive oil, which is also a seed oil, has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may be beneficial for health.

      "However, there is some evidence suggesting that these oils can contribute to inflammation in the body, which has been linked to a variety of health issues." @@criticalysproductsandservi2284 Watch from 10:25. I don’t think he’s actually recommending peanut oil. He mentions cold pressed soybean or Canola oil. If you google ‘Canola oil’ and look at the Wikipedia page, you’ll see a table that gives the nutritional content of vegetable oils. The ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 is what you need to look at - the lower the better.
      I think the problem is if you consume the oil you’re consuming a concentrated form of Omega 6 (with little Omega 3). So, fine, eat a handful of peanuts but consuming large amounts of peanut oil isn’t particularly healthy. You’re better off choosing an oil with a higher proportion of Omega 3.

    Thank you Dr. Hyman, but I must somewhat disagree with you on this subject of the Hateful 8 seed oils. Those oils are as follows: Canola oil (rapeseed), corn oil, soy oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, grapeseed oil, rice bran oil. What you fail to point out is that these oils are ALL toxic and should NEVER be consumed if at all possible. Not once did you mention the damage these PUFA oils cause your cellular structure, specifically your mitochondria. "Canola is definitely bad for you. The claim that canola oil (a rapeseed cultivar developed in the early 1970s) is “heart-healthy” is untrue. It’s based on the idea that because it has more omega-3 PUFA and less omega-6 PUFA that it’s somehow superior. This comes from an outdated notion of essential fatty acid ‘balance.’ But the reality is all PUFA is unstable and should not be refined or used for cooking." This is from Dr. Cate Shannan MD. She is also a biochemist, so I trust her expertise in this area a little more than you as she has done the chemical analysis. I suggest you update your knowledge in this area, because you are just DEAD WRONG to say any amount of these oils are OK. You need to clearly state that any amount of these oils are TOXIC for human consumption. The adverse health effects of consuming these oils over a lifetime is inflammation, brain fog, migraines, cancers, organ failure, obesity, heart disease, the list goes on. I'm wondering if you're getting your information from mainstream institutions such as morally bankrupt Harvard quack Guy Crosby, who tries desperately to make the case for seed oils. I suggest you talk to Dr. Cate Shanahan Dr to Dr. She can get you back on track. More information can be found here. drcate.com/seed-oils-questions-answers-for-your-health/ I have read her book "Deep Nutrition" and your book "Young Forever" for context.

      I think he’s fine but the sound is off. Maybe it’s the room he’s filming from.

    Shame on you--the best research and meta-analyses show that seed oils do NOT cause inflammation. Furthermore, research also shows that swapping butter for seed oils LOWERS rates of heart disease/CVD events. Everyone should just google Nutrition Made Simple and watch Gil's videos. Accurate neutral and deeply science-based, and not trying to sell you some story to sell books.
