I don't understand how you can say no to killing someone to protect your child. If it's your child or someone else you're telling me you'd willingly allow your child to die. It's always going to be my family above anyone else.

Lots are in the system that need loving homes. Family is not always blood. Surrogacy is an option. Don't rule out alternatives.

Now being 30 and a new mother, I see now how much love she showed by making sure we were well-taken care of, even though I couldn't see it at the time and thought that we only were a bother to her.
I try to be strong enough on my feet for her to feel that she can take a break and fully enjoy her grandson, play with him and do all the stuff she didn't have the time to do with us back then. She deserves it.

My mom hates heights. Like she’s deathly afraid of them. One time I pointed to the biggest ride in a theme park that we all love but her (she can’t even watch it while she’s there because it’ll freak her out) and I said “Would you ride that to save our lives?”
She sat for half a second and said “No, I think you’d be okay.” We both laughed because her response was so sudden and sure. But she sobered up, took a peek up at it, sighed, and said “In all honesty, yes. There’s no guarantee I’m coming down from that thing conscious or without a panic attack but I’d do it.”
I didn’t expect such a sincere answer. She’s the best mom. I love her so much.

I broke my upper right arm while protecting my daughter during a fall. I was carrying her in my left arm to put her down for her nap when I tripped on one of her toys. I tried to regain my footing, but quickly realized that we were going down. I twisted my body in such a way that would cause her to land on top of me, so as to spare her being injured in the fall. I put out my right arm in hopes of breaking our our fall against the wall, closed my eyes, & hoped for the best. Well the wall broke my humerus bone clean in two, just under the ball of the shoulder joint. The force of impact drove the broken bone up into my armpit area. (I learned this later on via x-ray at the emergency room) Upon realizing that my efforts to break our fall weren't entirely successful & we were on the floor I immediately knew my arm was beyond not okay. The pain was far worse than giving birth to her or the recovery from it. (& let's just say it was a complicated delivery) I began to sweat in torrents & I knew my arm was either dislocated or broken, either way it was f*cked. I just kind of set that aside & checked on my kid with my intact arm. She was frightened by the fall, but completely unscathed! So not a complete failure. I soothed her while sweating like I'd never done before on account of my arm just being held together with my flesh & muscles alone, as the bone had broken in two. I did not cry, so as not to frighten her more than she already was.The first thing I asked my sister to do when she came to help me was to take the baby & change her diaper! Though she later drove me to the emergency room, once the kiddo was squared away, of course. I had to wait five days for the needed surgery to have a plate & 13 screws to bolt my humerus back together! Hands down the worst pain of my life & I'd do it again without hesitation.
