This feels like a good time to start a campaign for a Spider-Noir movie with Cage. Give it a Sin City style, maybe call in Frank Miller, and tell me that wouldn't be awesome.
I would totally watch that I don't care if its a movie or show, animated or live action, and PG or PG-13/TV-14 I would pay good money to see Spider-Man Noir starring Nicolas Cage after seeing Spider-Verse
Too bad they've already wrapped up filming The Mandalorian Season Three because that was a missed opportunity for Nic Cage and Pedro Pascal to be in two projects together, like they were doing each other a favor to be in the other's work.
This was a Meta squared of a film, with him playing himself but also they were wanting to write the greatest screenplay about character/arcs but also they knew along the way they needed the hook for an audience and pay off to please everyone, especially in the 3rd act... the fact they announce it earlier in the film that they wanted to write was happening in front of them and they end up doing it on screen was comedy gold with the commentary of movie-making. Then balancing it all out with the heart and humour and tongue in cheek of nick cages' perception of what the world thinks of him.... is just a gorgeous chef's kiss. Sure the CIA characters weren't great, they were to serve the story as minor characters and they added to that in the final act to elevate the stakes of the final act that they weren't important, that this isn't a joke. Because the story isn't about the supercops it's about the relationship of the main characters. The big thing that I noticed with this film isn't that they referenced Paddington 2 but they actually copied Paddington 2... There is no fat left in the film, like in that CGI Bear film. everything matters and comes back in an interesting way that grows the characters/jokes and rewards the audience. I'm actually surprised you didn't like this film even more... yes there was tropes and we knew where the story was going to go, but if it's done well, it can be a classic because we love the characters too much in this film for anything other than a happy ending, which we got.
The ending was a little boring, I was expecting something way more over the top. Otherwise, It was a pretty funny movie, made for crazy Cage fans like myself.
On Javi being kind of adorable, that really hit me in a moment later in the movie, when his cousin tells him either he dies, or he kills Nicolas Cage. Which is of course a ridiculous enough concept. But then in response Javi just starts sobbing at the idea of having to kill his childhood hero, and Pedro Pascal just sells that *so* well, I genuinely felt my heart breaking a little.
One thing I'll say, the subtle comparison between the CIA'S manipulation over Nick Cage and this one crime family's over Javi, I thought was executed nicely.
Best thing this movie is gonna do is introduce a bunch of new people to understand the brilliance of Paddington 2. Easily should be recognized as one of the greats alongside works like Godfather 2 or Terminator 2 and such. And yeah, this pretty much sums it up for me. When it was a comedy, it was fun. When it was trying to be more action-y, I didn't get into it as much. And I admit, I wish we saw another nod or two for other films. I am quite fond of Bad Lieutenant and Adaptation from him.
I kind of wished that the whole movie was just a crazy comedy about Nicolas cage and the guy having fun, a premice of a rich guy being able to do anything and just seeing them doing the craziest things imaginable and having fun would have been a better movie and its kind of what i was hoping for.
I loved it! I agree the bromance between Nic Cage and Pedro Pascal was the best part. Truthfully it was not Nic Cage but Pedro that sold me on this. He is such a good actor!
Movie was great. Sucks it's not doing so well box office wise. I predict in a couple years It'll be looked at as another underated classic like Scott Pilgrim.
Definitely felt like the third act was a little weak, but Cage and Pascal's combined chemistry and charisma were more than enough for me to forgive it. It has its flaws, but I imagine any Nick Cage fan (or any Pedro Pascal fan for that matter) would have a really good time with this
American dad did that scene with the wall, I feel like a lot of other comedy’s have done that bit, but yet this was still funny. Ending dragged a bit. But it somehow was still a fun movie.agree with the review. Nick is great they both where. Worth the watch if at home and got sometime to kill.
I really think the predictable parts are as intended as could be. It lets you relax and enjoy coming up with crazy theories on the side. And the style and editing of the chase scenes was, I thought, a wonderful tribute to independent and b movie films.
This movie was great! Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage starring in a movie about Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage starring in a movie about Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage starring in a movie about Nicolas Cage playing...
This movie was f-ing great No Ghost Rider joke (Doctor Strange 2 Billboard tho) A Wicker Man, Mandolin and Leaving Las Vegas joke which were a great A Mandy reference which is absolutely amazing
I liked this movie a lot. The lsd scene was gold. But no nick cage freakout. Closest thing was "nick FUCKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING WHOOO CAGE!!!!!"
The movie was pretty enjoyable for what it was, the acting was great, it was funny, kind of a slow burn, but an enjoyable one. Is it going to be a cult classic? No, is it going to live forever? no, will it be a movie that you remember scenes from? Kinda. Overall, I had a good time with it, it wasn't bad by any means, but wasn't great in the same way.
I haven't seen the movie yet I can't wait for it to start streaming, so I can watch it on my fire stick. I was wondering if you guys can do a review on Willie's Wonderland since you guys are Nicolas Cage fans. That would be super awesome.
I thought the idea of the movie sounded interesting, but then I saw the trailer and thought it looked ordinary. Now I'm turned around again - what a ride. It looks like this movie could have benefited from a director with a more dynamic style.
I was shocked by how bad Tiffany Haddish is in this. I’m not a big fan of hers or anything but never thought she’s been awful in other stuff of hers I’ve seen, but this must’ve just been terrible casting or something cuz she was awful just gave nothing
Spoiler warning.... for what it is worth ;) What I found one of the most fun tings in the movie is when you realize that they want to make a movie and everything they want to have in that movie is happening to them. And not so much in a way that they are predicting what is happening but in a way, that to me, felt like the movie is about 2 guys wanting to make a movie about 2 guys talking about making a movie about 2 guys with deep and complex character moments. And as the movie progressives the 2 guys keep adding to the script which later is implemented in the film. Which is an inception kinda mindfuckery going on here haha. At first the first section felt a bit slow but eventually I started to understand what was happening. And at the end they really rounded it all up really well :D
I saw this tonight. I liked it and had a good time, but it isn't perfect. It's an action comedy where the action is nowhere as good as the comedy. Which, as Doug said, makes the third act kind of underwhelming. I wasn't bored, but I did feel like the movie wasn't living up to its potential. Unlike Doug, I liked the CIA lady (the dude was a bit annoying) and got kinda annoyed when they just leave her lying there wounded and never cut back to her. Was she supposed to be dead? Because if that was the case, it was very badly conveyed.
Love Cage, but the film was too generic and trite for me. Pascal and Cage had amazing chemistry and were adorable together. Just wish the script was more original and did more wirh its fun premise.

This feels like a good time to start a campaign for a Spider-Noir movie with Cage. Give it a Sin City style, maybe call in Frank Miller, and tell me that wouldn't be awesome.
Get Robert Rodriguez to direct and I'm there
Keep Frank Miller far far away from movies
If you start it ill support it!
If Frank's involved, it wouldn't be awesome. Stupid, offensive, maybe even sad, but not awesome.
I would totally watch that I don't care if its a movie or show, animated or live action, and PG or PG-13/TV-14 I would pay good money to see Spider-Man Noir starring Nicolas Cage after seeing Spider-Verse
This movie was fantastic. Cage gives it his all and has awesome chemistry with Pedro pascal. The song cage sings to his daughter is hilarious
Too bad they've already wrapped up filming The Mandalorian Season Three because that was a missed opportunity for Nic Cage and Pedro Pascal to be in two projects together, like they were doing each other a favor to be in the other's work.
Well… let’s wait for the release…
I've had this discussion with someone else on who Danny DeVito would be in Star Wars but what kind of character would Nicolas Cage be in Star Wars ?
Maybe he'll be in season 4.
@@johnlocke5728 Droid... definitely a droid.

Okay, but that Paddington 2 joke had me dying in the theater! 😂

Yeah, I could watch Cage and Pascal for hours.
Could you eat a peach while you are watching them?
This was the first movie in a long time to get me genuinely laughing through most of it.
“Despite all my rage I am stil just a Nicolas Cage”

A team up with the Ghost Rider and Mando? Sign me up for it!
I loved it! Nic's own shout-out to his own meem ("The bees! The bees!") is hilarious!!
Let's be honest, Pedro Pascoal probably playing Pedro Pascoal in this movie too.
This is the way.
I thought it's gonna be a NC review 😂 Anyway, glad to hear what you think, Doug!
True. I am here enough to know 99% of your nick cage references. And I'm proud of it.
P.S: HALLELUJAH!

"3 out of 4 marmalade sandwiches" - I see what you did there (Paddington reference).
Movie was great. Sucks it's not doing so well box office wise. I predict in a couple years It'll be looked at as another underated classic like Scott Pilgrim.
The Pauly Shore Pinocchio movie is more gonzo than this 🤣
"Paddington 2" is the most fun I've had in a theatre in twenty years.
This movie was missing Cage in a bear suit punching a woman.
Ah, classic Nicholas Cage
NOT THE BEES! 🐝🐝🐝🐝
Definitely felt like the third act was a little weak, but Cage and Pascal's combined chemistry and charisma were more than enough for me to forgive it. It has its flaws, but I imagine any Nick Cage fan (or any Pedro Pascal fan for that matter) would have a really good time with this
I was really impressed at how much Pascal kept up with Cage in terms of the humor. He was hilarious in this movie.
Leave it to the critic to both excite me and temper my expectations for Nicolas Cage as Nicolas Cage in the most Nicolas Cage-iest title for a movie 🤣
I loved this movie so much I saw it twice! First for the movie, then just for Pedro Pascal 😍
American dad did that scene with the wall, I feel like a lot of other comedy’s have done that bit, but yet this was still funny. Ending dragged a bit. But it somehow was still a fun movie.agree with the review. Nick is great they both where. Worth the watch if at home and got sometime to kill.
This movie was a blast, but I thought it was lame when Pedro’s character made us think he was dead only to show he was alive at the end.
I thought he was shot in the shoulder.
"Ohmygod, this is the greatest review I've seen in my life" or "that guy with the bald head, review show." Two ideas.
I Was Hoping he’d review this
That Nick Cage Thumbnail...lol!!
"It's grotesque...I'll give you 20 thousand dollars for it."
I have it on trustworthy, first hand authority that Nic Cage is authentically as nutty as a squirrel but is also, in fact, a nice dude.
I really liked it, even though it occurred to me that the plot is basically The Interview.
I really think the predictable parts are as intended as could be. It lets you relax and enjoy coming up with crazy theories on the side. And the style and editing of the chase scenes was, I thought, a wonderful tribute to independent and b movie films.

How did I miss this movie? I didn't even know it was coming out at the time. Damn.
Not since John travolta played Nicholas cage have we seen Nicholas cage playing Nicholas cage trying to out-Nicholas cage Nicholas cage
Having now seen the movie, I totally understand the marmalade sandwich reference.
If you had told me that this movie was based on real events I would believe you.
Everything Cage touches turns to gold
Saw it last week & enjoyed it. Sometimes a fun movie is all you need & that's what I got.

Was a fun Nick Cage film. Had some great jokes. Pascal and Cage were wonderful together.
This was pretty fun to watch!
Once I heard this movie existed. I knew too look up Doug on this one. Dang. Didn't realized it took a whole month to catch my radar.😅
The bee belt cracked me up
I just tuned in and saw a prom night remake poster with Paddington 2 scribbles on it...

What people don't understand about the Nicholas Cage is that he has played other characters, not just Nicholas Cage.

I found this movie hilarious!! Laughed so hard that I cried during the acid trip.
