- David Freiburger with Hot Rod Magazine installs the new FAST™ EZ-EFI 2.0®. The EZ-EFI 2.0® works with engines making up to 1200 horsepower and features eight injectors. Here David walks viewers through the installation process and shows off all the capabilities of the FAST™ EZ-EFI 2.0®.
He really has a gift at speaking clearly and making it easy to understand what he is doing. You need him to explain more installs for you.
"If you're a tweeker like me..." well put DF
....and the hood is off. Gotta love Freiburger and Roadkill :-)
This should be an option in every car for tech guys. I still love this whole system.
Love the classic Freiburger rollin' with no hood for the calibration trip.
Looks like a great system....nice job explaining things. I can't wait to see how it runs at the track.
Best tech video ever. Like to have this for my custom conversion to van tow my RV trailer and race car trailer climbing 12,000 feet through the mountains cross country.. Should work quite nicely..
Glad it was helpful, Stanley! Thanks so much for watching.
Well done.. I have had great luck with FAST and there parent aftermarket Brands like Comp and others. The wait to talk to a tech line person can be long put they are helpful when you do get them on the phone.. UA-cam has helped to improve and grow the aftermarket no question..
Thanks Nick - we're glad to have you as a customer!
Closed loop for hotrods. Right on.
A few of my friends just put 454 TBI systems on their cars.
$300 total parts from the junkyard.
eliminates any and all off-road carburetor problems.
with a 22% increase in MPG.
I'm still waiting for the drag strip testing with the EZ-EFI 2.0, any idea when it may happen?
That car is awesome!
We think so too! Thanks for watching.
very much like the thundermax I have on my motorcycle. It looks like an excellent system.
David Freiburger, Great video. Thanks for the initial setup tip. "running phat".
He really has a gift at speaking clearly and making it easy to understand what he is doing. You need him to explain more installs for you.
you guys should do an install video on the fast 1.0 on a stock muscle car. like on the wagon you guys did but with more information and dyno runs and what not
Thanks for the suggestion! We'll definitely look into it, we're always open to new ideas that will benefit customers.
My favorite tweeker.
Great video and good option for my 74' Charger.
opl500 - The EZ 2.0 does not work with turbocharged or supercharged applications, only our XFI systems currently have that capability. Thank you.
FAST (Fuel Air Spark Technology) it's been two years since your post on this... is there going to be a fuel injected carburetor style of set up as a replacement for a blow thru carb? I like not having to run an intercooler thanks to the carb but are you guys making a product like this? Otherwise the only other option is to fabricate a port fuel injection manifold. Which then would require more plumbing for the turbo...
Check out Blasphemi in the background. That car has really changed over the years🤘🏽🤘🏽
Great video, always wondered if DF would yank the Dominator...looks like he found a replacement.
I know what I want for Christmas... For my 1968 Chevelle, but first I have to finish the 4 wheel disk breaks! LOL
Love it.!!! ( and thank you for using the " BLACK " fuel hardware and not the Blingy stuff ).. Very Cool for sure
David is the man
This system is amazing
Just wish they wernt sooo expensive!
Its got all the right sensors, I would think the tune would be up to the user though. Blow through systems aren't too bad.
classic roadkill style driving it with no hood hell yeah!
Freiberger is an awesome presenter! If Hot Rod ever falls through, he's got a career in how to videos!
I need one of these!
I remember when my buddy bought the Edelbrock pro flo efi for his big block truck about 8 yrs ago. He never used it and lost half the parts lol.
That system is impressive, and I like the ability to switch between Gasoline and E85 too. While I don't currently own anything that can use this system, I am curious what these cost?
I have a 77' TA 403 Olds would this be a huge upgrade over my qjet..
i gotta get one of these for my 66 catalina 389.the old 2 barrel just wont cut it.
I just don't understand why nobody tells the cost for things. That to me is a big selling point. I have a 440 roadrunner. Would like to have some idea of the cost
would love it if it had a plug in for the gm fly by wire gas pedal.
Higher detonation resistance despite lower overall efficiency. If you have a big enough carb or injectors you can actually make more power before things go boom.
Thanks for watching and for your nice words! We'll certainly pass along your input about the touchscreen as well. Thanks again!
Nice I wish I had the money to buy one
This is really cool..
Great video sir!! Quick question I have a 1986 Chevrolet C 10 small block 350 I’m installing the MSD EFI And one of my questions that I’m trying to get a straight answer to is the PVC valve how should I plumbed that? MSD told me not to run it to the throttlebody? What would your recommendation be?
while i would love one of these setups for my 69' Dodge with a 418" small block stroker,,i'm still old school and i know what it takes to get a Termoquad run like it should.
+glen cyr my hat comes off to you sir, few people are around these days who know how to properly tune a carb. I would like to turbo or blow my 318 and this seems to be an easy solution to switch between daily driving and stip hits.
418?????????????
@@bjbuschman2 Stroker small block. 69' 340 .040 block w 4.0" steel Callies crank = 418"s
@@owatajrkiam 58 years and never heard of a 418.I guess with the right build anything is possible.Iv'e learned something new.
will be using on a old 350 chevy
how do you hook the fuel system up to nos with the 2.0
I have MSD 8572 with AL6 box in my 69 Corvette. If I buy the 2.0 would I then have to buy a new distributor, if I would like to run full EZ-EFI timing control?
Yes, you are correct that you will have to buy a new distributor to run full EZ-EFI timing control. You can check out all of the FAST Dual-Sync Distributors here: www.fuelairspark.com/fas/ignition-systems-components/dual-sync-distributors. Thank you.
Cool, it does CAN
Can this be plugged up to a SnapOn scanner to run diagnostics and troubleshoot powering off and tranny slipping?
I really wished there a video like this showing how to hook up a MSD 6AL-2 box with the EZ-EFI 2.0 ... Its damn confusing really..
i have a 408 small block mopar with a big solid roller and im have trouble keeping it idling right. it will idle fine for about 5 min. then it goes rich and dies. When you try to start it back up you have to hold throttle about half open. I know it he can get it to run correct on that hemi i shouldn't have any problems getting mine to run right. What was done to get this hemi to idle with low vacuum
Having a return system for fuel actually heats up the fuel Your constantly bringing it from the tank to the engine heating it up and returning it. Returnless is where you keep your fuel cool. it goes from the tank to the carb. doesn't heat up much.
This system looks great! I can't decide between the throttle body system and the multi-port kit. What are the pros and cons?
Multi-port is usually a little more efficient, but it doe not create a significant difference in performance.Throttle body setups can be more versatile because they fit more common carburetor intake manifolds. Hope this help, thank you!
I would love to know dave’s nitrous system and how he has it set up
Will there be a update with Freiburger. The before and after @ the dragstrip??
Hey Dave, how about an update on the FAST system??
Isn't a Frieburger video unless the hoods off.
is there a way to make this system work with a wankel rotary engine, 2 ignition advances, 1 for leading 1 for trailing ignition?
EZ 2.0 will bolt anywhere that a square bore carb will. However, EZ 2.0 requires a clean RPM signal and in this application, an ignition system that operates without input from the EFI ecu (like w/a carb). Something like this will allow a Holley carb to bolt to a rotary (atkinsrotary.com/store/images/P/16476.jpg) and EZ is setup tp replace a Holley carburetor. Hope this helps - thank you.
+COMP Cams does this work on turbo engines and do they get tuned as easily without using a laptop???
ENGINELIFE
pumping the fuel does heat it up, but drawing in cold gasoline from the tank cools it down.
would really like to see the install for the gm ls ez-efi 2.0 is this kit able to accept turbo
What ignition box and coil did you use with the dual sync distributor for this segment??
Would this system added HP if replacing a stock carb?
will it work with a msd distributor /6al if i dont want it to control timing?
Can this work with forced induction?
Will it handle turbocharging or supercharging?
Thinking about swapping to EFI from my little Solex 28-32 DIDTA and I'm looking for kits like this basically... I doubt this one would work though? Any help directing my research would be appreciated. Thanks! Great video btw
+samuel pare Thanks for watching! If you get in touch with our tech guys by calling 1-877-334-8355 or emailing tech@fuelairspark.com they will be happy to help you out.
Do these fit the tube-design K&N Cold Air Intakes?
there is some EFI kit for 4 or 6 cylinder old engines ?
what will the whole setup set me back bro
hi i got a question to u guys.
ive got an oldsmobile custom cruiser with an 305 tbi motor
what do i need to do to make the fast efi work on my motor im gonna change the motor to an 383 stroker but do i have to do something more to the fuel system?
can you use this item on a weiand 174 supercharger on a 331 ford windsor
i would love to see how you installed your nos with thus system
Feel free to give our tech guys a call, they'll have a few questions about your engine and what kind of nitrous kit you run. The number is 1.877.334.8355. Thanks for your interest!
COMP Cams Will this work on my Oldsmobile 425?
did I hear correctly that you only need one controller for two throttle body's? So, can I run two throttle body's on a 12-71 blower, or would I only need one?
For a blown engine, you will need to run an XFI computer. The EZ 2.0 is not compatible with a supercharged engine. At this time, an XFI 2.0 would be the best ECU to run with a dual EZ 2.0 throttle body setup. It can easily run all 16 injectors. Hope this helps - thank you.
helps a lot, thanks!
does it have to be a FAST distributor? if so which FAST distributors work with the 2.0?
jaudiel castellanos It does not have to be a FAST distributor. The system will work with any distributor that works with a carburetor, as well as a few other options. Your best bet is to call our tech line at 877-334-8355, or email tech@fuelairspark.com to discuss. Hope this helps. Thank you.
Would this system work on my bronco or is it ment for more for muscle cars and what not
The EZ-EFI 2.0 could certainly work on a Bronco. Thank you.
COMP Cams I have a question, would it work with a First Gen Chevy Small block? I ask because my dad's thinking about putting an engine management system on it, but a first gen block is a bit behind the times.
Definitely - First Gen Chevys are one of the prime markets for our EZ line!
+COMP Cams hey is there a system that you would recommend for l-300 ford? doing a 79 f-100 and want to use efi. looking to make a smooth cruising truck that will still get 18 mpg or better.
Will this work on ford inline 6 motor
I want to see what happens when the first EMP event happens or if they just drive into any strong magnetic or RF or electro static field......Good Night!
You really think that an emp event is a common occurrence in the hotrodding world or real life in fact what do you think is making your prius go?
I hope to se that HotRod in the back finished : )
Frieburger should have his own show on Spike.
but why on earth would you run E85 on a high performance vehicle?
Can you run a turbo with this Fast setup?
With this system you actually can run nitrous but not turbo. Thank you.
Would this work on my 460 ig block I really want it to try it out
+Joe's Home Theater Absolutely! Feel free to get with our tech guys at tech@fuelairspark.com or 877-334-8355 for more info. Thanks for your interest!
You went to all that trouble because Finnegan screwed up your carb at the trip in Utah, didn't you?
Would it work on a 400 small block ford pickup?
Yes it will!
Amazing product! must be veryy good and fun and easy to install.
The touch screen seems to be not too good, maybe if they can make an App so you can run it with an iPhone or cheap iPod or whatever tablet could be good, since they (apple) have a very good touch screen, just a MINOR detail! BUT LOOKS LIKE AN AMAZING EFI SYSTEM!
Freiburge or anyone else, does anyone know if you need two sensors in the Exhaust or is it just one?
We'd recommend contacting the FAST tech line at 877-334-8355
Thanks guys. Oh will Fi tech also work with cam gears or do I need a timing chain?
y u no HD?
how much vaccum do you have on his car, and need to run this system
We like to see a minimum of 8" of vacuum at idle for both the EZ-EFI and EZ-EFI 2.0 systems to work properly. Thank you.
COMP Cams 484 cubes and "big solid cam" hard to believe this car has min of 8" of vacuum
Because you can make more power with it ,
Would this system work for a 528 mopar stroker?
Nicholas Skific - Yes, the EZ 2.0 can absolutely work on a 528 Mopar stroker engine! Just make sure it makes at least 8-10" of vacuum at idle. Thank you.
FAST (Fuel Air Spark Technology) Thank you for the information
Because its Frieburger, there's no hood present. Of course.
I guess he doesn't use it since they had the blasphime shoot out and he had a regular carb
I know you can run E85 with these systems but how about E85 and a supercharger? I've got a small block chevy with a 850 Proform carb feeding a little Weiand 177 supercharger that currently runs on E85 and makes 550-600HP. Could this system be used on such an engine?
Unfortunately the EZ-EFI 2.0 does not support any kind of boost, to do so you will need to step up to an XFI system. Hope this helps - thank you.
FAST (Fuel Air Spark Technology) Yes, but the XFI system is multi-point, isn't it? I'd rather keep the injectors upstream of the supercharger so the alcohol (E85) can keep it cool.
Are there any plans to modify or add the option with the EZ system to support boost along with E85 in the future?
It doesn't seem like it would take much. Just a boost-compatible MAP/boost sensor and some software, right?
As of right now we don't know of any plans to add boost compatibility to the EZ systems, however, our engineers are working on new concepts every day. You are also welcome to email your suggestion and any other ideas to buildit@compcams.com. Thank you.
177SCmaro MSD Atomic does but only up to 550hp
302esky That's awesome but I don't think that's quite big enough for my motor. Close though. Maybe in time MSD will step it up for higher HP cars?
00:50 Snap-on product placement. 01:27 Where is the Snap-on product placement?!?! Magic I tell you! Magic!
Just saw a car in the background.
The Crusher Camaro, still with the
OLD Blown big block.
That just dated this for me.
steve
I think I'm going to get the ez efi but not the 2.0 for my 340 swinger. sick of messing with carbs
Maybe now this thing can get into the NINES ?!?!?!?
Out of tank fuel pump is noisy. In tank pump is best. Fuel lines they provide are cheap and of course not enough. Only enough line for feed not return. Better to get FI fuel hose and FI clamps at any auto parts store.
I would like to own a 485 hemi that can rev to 7500 lol. What an animal.
we hope that you have one someday. Dream big.! Make it happen..
Stanley Stalvey Yep! Once Im done with college I am going to get a really nice old muscle car.
Regardless of condition, always look for "one owner" cars that were garage kept for life. You'll get the best results this way and always be happy with your purchase.. Most repairs on cars like this will be minor or cosmetic.. EBay is an excellent source because of the extensive photographs..
Stanley Stalvey I think you are right about that. My current car has a lot of previous owners and is riddled with problems. 1999 mustang GT that's been through a few early 20s owners lol. Its a good car to learn on though. I just did my first engine replacement and I also converted it to run on a carburetor just because I like the simplicity of a carb. EFI is too expensive to fix
Damn, no burnouts =(
because it's over 100 octane.
Man that looks expensive. Is motortrend hiring? Lol
