The Gibson was warmer and perfectly even sounding from bottom to top. No question.

Enjoyed this. Of these three, I only have the humble Washburn J-6. They all sound great in your hands!

I've always thought the Gibson ES175TD in Tobacco Sunburst was the most beautiful guitar ever made. That Heritage H575 has a Spartan type of beauty that gives me chills. You are amassing a nice collection there and I really enjoy seeing them and listening to your softly relaxing approach on all of those classics archtops. Keep up the smooth sounds!

For what it's worth, out of the three you play here, I prefer the J-6 by a country mile. And I'm an owner of several Gibson guitars (no archtops though), and even owned a Heritage LP at one point. That was sounded amazing, but weighed a ton. Even more than my Norlin-era Gibbies! I've always been more of a blues and rock player, but have been wanting to get into jazz guitar for years now.

Your right about the Heritage les palu H-150 being a monster jazz/rock guitar. I have one and at one time vowed I would never play jazz on a les paul ... but that guitar sounds ridiculous and it's not too heavy.

    The Heritage--by a mile. Thanks.

The Heritage seemed more articulate... reproducing your details... of the 3 in this particular comparison. Lovely tones.

Yesssss. What are your thoughts on the Samick Lasalle models? I've heard some good clips on here, especially post-mods, but many former owners claim they're dead wood. I happen to like the LZ-3, but the Washburn J-6 still has a greater pull for me, in the budget arena. I also dig the tone on Ibanez LGB30's. Nothing like ES-165 and 175s though. :)

I am not a fan of the Lasalles as much as the J6. I owned a Samick when I was in grad school years ago and even put a 57 classic pickup in it...it never did it for me. Budget wise ... if you can find a good J6, buy it, set it up, and you will have a great instrument. There is actually no need to change the pickups. The prior owner changed the J6 pickups to a 57 classic though.

I have exactly the same model (1988 Japanese sunburst), all stock. However, I can't get it to sound anything like this! I'm using a Peavey Classic 30. What strings are you using and what amp and settings, please? Maybe I need to change pickups too. Thank you

It would be interesting to know if you’re using the same strings on all three guitars.
