I have the exact same guitar and a Gibson 175 D. I replaced the front pickup with a Gibson 57 Classic Plus. The Washburn now sounds better than my Gibson 175D.
Very rare and stunning looking and sounding L5 size archtop guitar from the 90s. This is the more rare Washburn J6-S with a solid top and looks to stop a train in it's tracks. It plays great and has very nice looking flamed maple sides and back. This is one sexy guitar and sounds as good at it looks. Take her on a date and treat her well. Plays really nice with good set up and tone like lobster dipped in warm butter.
I have one of these, but here with me the pick-ups sound awfully dull and undefined. 'muddy' I guess some would call it. So why does it sound so great in this video? Your obviously a good player, but is there more to it? Is mine maybe not set up properly?
@@kanelee1871 Yup. Only made for couple of years in the late ‘80s. I happen to own one, looks pretty much just like this. Really nice archtop. Big sound to go with the big body. Easy to get used to that, IME, IMO.
+polkzoo i have a j6. neck pick up has no sound. the bridge has a sound. i tried replacing the neck pick up still no sound. u guess the problem is the toggle switch?
Yes a ton better and my Samick JZ2 I have now for only $475 ( should be $649) killer price is just as good or better then the J6. Guitars vary greatly from guitar to guitar but the broadway is pretty dull and compressed. My samick sounds better unplugged then any Washburn J6 or J6 S I have had and that is an acid test. Not sure why but some of the best Samick JZ 2s or 3s I have had have been the highly quilted burgundy back red type to and think they used thicker layers of solid wood sandwiched together.Sounds like you have a wiring issue or toggle switch issue and need to have a guitar repair guy check it out. Thanks SZ
I love the tone of this guitar...I do have an ES-175 and I can say this guitar is looking very nice...same color by the way

I have a Washburn made Oscar Schmidt that has similiar tone but more Gibson L5 in the tone.
Steve a very nice rendition of Wes Montgomery's music
Marcel Davis Sr Thanks you very much.
Steve
Marcel Davis Sr It was just an improvisation but had some of his style weaved in there.

Both the J6 and The JZ-2 are made by Samick!

There’s a Washburn J6 made in Japan that’s not made by samick.

LARSEN is not necessary and ruins the demo .
