so real for your take on P.T. Personally, my favourite part of the game is the fact that Lisa is almost always behind the player so that you are unable to see her. Just the thought of knowing that she's there but you can't see her is haunting in and of itself.

Alien isolation is my favorite horror game. It is still the scariest thing I've played. Having played it on nightmare truly was stressful, especially by the infamous chapter 18 habitation hub section
After a while it stops being that scary since you get used to it, but the design of the game is just so amazingly done! The level design, the engine, everything! I actually enjoyed it more because of its atmosphere, the atmosphere is mind-blowing!
Resident Evil Village to Resident Evil 7 was like Dead Space 2 to Dead Space, perfect sequel in my opinion. Playing the first (which are perfect games) just makes you appreciate the sequels that much more. Fantastic games, 10/10 sequels.
Alien isolation was underrated when it came out 10 years ago, but ever since then it’s been on pretty much every best horror game list, it’s been far from underrated for a long time now
The low scores for Alien isolation was due to the difficulty of the game people hated the AI. It’s pretty fucking amazing having an adaptive aggressive AI but gamers gonna cry.
Tbf the game tells you the hard option is the recommended setting and reviewers are going to pick that to get the most accurate experience possible. And for a first playthrough hard is kind of a slog ngl.
@@kingpinavatar I agree for sure to be honest if the Working Joes werent in the game it would be an extremely average difficulty level but the androids really do make a first playthrough absolutely miserable. After the first time you beat it the damage is much more manageable.
I loved the RE3 remake, but yeah if it wasn't rushed it would've just been as good as the RE2 remake. It felt unfinished but I managed to enjoy what we got
I am pretty sure that the same team that made re2r wasn't the same team that made the re3r. Still, i agree re3r is really overhated. I don't think its a bad or mid game, its pretty good and would be received way better if it was an original game and didn't have og re3 to be compared to

I played the og after the og a few months ago so its not nostalgia talking. In the og wasn't just a reoccurring boss fight, he was the most memorable part by far. Without nemesis there couldn't be re3 and he is the main reason why the game is fun and scary
Horror games have an interesting history. There are those classic PC ones, then mascot horror began to develop, then there are a whole bunch of Granny rip-offs, and then mascot horror becomes prevalent again. I only wish the best for the future of horror games.

oh yeah I forgot to mention, first time playing Condemned: Criminal Origins, at the end of the game (during the village fight with the huge, burned, Chris-Walker-looking monsters) I actually got a bad panic attack and severely struggled to breathe because the game was scaring me and stressing me out so much lol. I had to pause so many times; that ending along with the mannequin section, are some of the scariest parts I've played in a video game.
idk if you've already covered this but a good idea may be cursed TV shows - I know American Horror Story : Coven used real chants and spells in the show for a seance and I think someone on the cast died soon after and all of the actors said they felt a presence. anyways... love your stuff
Played the RE4 remake last month for the first time. It's been a long long time since I've had that much fun playing a game. My favorite aspect of a video game will always be the story and characters, but what stood out to me was the COMBAT. I'm not a stickler for combat, a game doesn't even have to have combat in order for me to enjoy it, so it really shocked me that my favorite aspect was the combat in RE4R. It lead me to play the RE2 remake as well, and I loved that one too. I'm currently playing Village for the first time and also enjoying it a lot, I'm only upset at how short it is lol
(The Evil Within is so underrated. I love that save room/mental asylum design) *I hope we see more games that have satisfying physics, reactive objects, interactive environments, a focus on noire detective/forensic evidence gross/macabre stuff, detailed oddities, smaller environments & solving puzzles. 3rd person games, dynamic fixed camera games, singleplayer games that have additional game modes. Man 90s-00s gaming had such a vast range of creativity. I love the amount of risk they took on odd concepts. It should show us that GRAPHICS are not what is most important.. If you can create satisfying movement, physics effects, responsive parts of an environment that makes you want to explore it, interact with it. That stuff is so much more important. It's not about {"Who can make the largest map? Or have the most reflections?"} I think Art style, design, vibe, aesthetic is much more important. You don't need top notch graphics to greatly appreciate and enjoy playing a game. That's why we are seeing such a resurgence of players who have gone back to playing older games because they realized the aspects of gaming that they care about. So hopefully gaming will enter a new era. A era that mixes in aspects of the older era's. Hopefully we can make it so games don't take 8 years to make a bad broken game. ~Currently everything is trying to be a Triple AAA game or a free to play online battle Royale game.. A lot of us miss when we had the game selection that we had around the Xbox/PS2/360 era. As well as some games had a lot of options for local multiplayer, split screen, LAN parties, or offline modes against bots or other diverse offline CPU game modes. Yet modern games are not only lacking those dynamic options that give games nearly endless replayability features... Modern games are lacking even meeting the most basic standards for game's... They don't seemed focused on the core of the games to be Fun. They over focus on "realism" Rather than adding in Artistic adaptations for the greater good of gaming as a whole.. We could be doing so much better yet people are just coming out with the most bland game design, braindead AI, less care for physics effects... We could be doing so much better than this..

Not a super scary game but I had so much fun playing with my friends and even playing by myself has been a really fun, spooky experience. Some of my favourite horror games that came out this decade were also RPG maker games like Omori. Can't wait for the new horror games coming out this year!
I COMPLETELY agree about the overdone hide and seek horror games. I want a game like TCM where you play through a story as the survivor where it's like stealth and puzzles. Then a story where you play as Leatherface and it's basically a hack n slash type of game.

This video highlighted to me how little progress there's been in video games the past 10 years. More than half of the games he talked about were just blended sludge and none of the recent games looked substantially different than their 10 year old equivalents.

What you said about horror aysm's I completely agree, I just wish people would use the access to these iconic horror IP's to make a single player game, or even a horror coop. Instead of just a versus thing. Honestly most of them aren't even bad I just think there's way more potential with an IP like Texas Chainsaw for example. Friday the 13th was easily the best one because it was actually really good and suited the 1v7 multiplayer, and it also even had singleplayer side modes so everyones happy. I'm so upset its getting shut down, I'm gonna miss it

Dying Light is still an awesome game to this day, Dying Light 2 had a terrible launch but it's actually really fun after all the new content patches so I think they're both underrated gems tbh
I got Alien: Isolation a while ago but haven’t been in a good headspace to play it. Glad to know I didn’t waste my money and it’ll be a good and scary experience when I can finally play.
Alien isolation was amazing but if I’m not mistaken outlast came out in 2014 and to me that is the pinnacle of survival horror, along with resident evil 7 and 8
I highly recommend Amnesia: the Bunker. It’s very different to the other Amnesia games, think of it as WW1 Alien Isolation with some Resident Evil elements mixed in minus the action. One of the best horror games I’ve played in recent years.

if I remember correctly, Alien isolation was loved by everyone when it came out except for ign which gave it a 5.6 and thats why it never got a sequel.
The thing is tho, so many horror games has been out this year and last year, it's kinda insane. I understand that for a video you can't talk about everything but we are truly in a horror game boom. Crow Contry, Rental, Conscript, FNAF Into the pit, shipwrecked 64 and so much more. And for upcoming games, Tormented souls 2, little nightmares 3, zoochosis, slitherhead. Horror fans are eating good.

Layers of fear 1 is one of my favorite games I think what is so good and what is considerably better then layers of fear 2 feeling like a walking simulator and certain parts being boring vs the interesting but layers of fear one’s atmosphere and music is amazing

I highly recommend Amnesia: the Bunker. It’s very different to the other Amnesia games, think of it as WW1 Alien Isolation with some Resident Evil elements mixed in minus the action. One of the best horror games I’ve played in recent years.

if I remember correctly, Alien isolation was loved by everyone when it came out except for ign which gave it a 5.6 and thats why it never got a sequel.

The thing is tho, so many horror games has been out this year and last year, it's kinda insane. I understand that for a video you can't talk about everything but we are truly in a horror game boom. Crow Contry, Rental, Conscript, FNAF Into the pit, shipwrecked 64 and so much more. And for upcoming games, Tormented souls 2, little nightmares 3, zoochosis, slitherhead. Horror fans are eating good.

I don‘t know how popular that game was when it came out in 2020 but At Dead of Night is one of my personal favourite horror games i think it‘s really unique and i‘d love for you to check it out ;;
If evil dead the game was a single-player story type game of ash fighting deadites with gameplay similar to resident evil, it would be so good

I downloaded calisto protocol for free through epic without knowing anything about it and actually decently enjoyed it despite it being pretty much dead space
Hunt showdown is so good, guns feel powerful and you have to make sure your shots hit bc of the slow reloads

You missed out on Signals, Tormented Souls, Darkwood, SystemShock Remake, Observer, In sound mind as some bigger examples of great horror games that was overlooked during the decade.
Layers of fear 1 is one of my favorite games I think what is so good and what is considerably better then layers of fear 2 feeling like a walking simulator and certain parts being boring vs the interesting but layers of fear one’s atmosphere and music is amazing
8:30 doesn't sound like a great developer, so good thing they only make walking simulators and nothing important like a remake to one of the best games ever
