The effect this short teaser of a game had/has on independent horror games even 10 years later is nothing short of incredible Imagine how much a full game would influence the industry
I think it's easy to say this, but i feel like part of its influence was in the fact that it was a short teaser and that it sort of ran out of places to go convincingly.
@@Tom_Lube Could've been. But in this case, it's actually internal conflict within the company with their cash cow creative, Hideo Kojima. He was done so dirty he and his team outright left and started their own company. Good riddance to a toxic Japanese company with abusive control issues.

I'm never giving up hope. Apparently this game is 85% done, according to Kojima. A near complete Silent Hills is sitting somewhere in Konami HQ. If no one ends up finishing it, the least we can wish for is for an employee to dump the unfinished game onto the internet. This game is too legendary for it to be forever abandoned. It must see the light of day, one way or another.

The fact this game never happened still saddens me as a Silent Hill fan. Junji Ito designing the monsters, Norman Reedus' subtle yet effective acting, Kojima and Del Toro TOGETHER on a narrative? That would've been a generation defining piece of media.
I feel like how blown away we were with PT's approach to horror and elaborate mechanics, is the closest we can get to the feeling people had during the original release of the first Silent Hill games. While the remake of SH2 is very good, it is just that. A remake. PT was probably the only shot we had at a new Silent Hill game that would actually come close to the originals.
I can tell you that I was so freaked out by the camera angles that I noped out and got an ex to play it for me whilst I watched… can’t guarantee that I could handle it better nowadays, mind 🙃
Seriously I didn’t even know the mechanics were that in depth. Someone has to pick up on this and make a more interactive horror game maybe even take away the pause screen and inventory screen so you cant escape the horror 😂
The amount of hours I spent going down the rabbit hole with PT is tremendous. I noticed Kojima put an asset from PT (the apartment complex inside the one Knot City) into Death Stranding. That wasn't done by mistake, especially when it went against the futuristic architecture of the world affected by Timefall. I'm definitely interested in seeing what you create next!
Omg now I need to go find that easter egg. Also, very ballsy of Kojima and team. Konami might try to legally skin them alive for that stunt (I hope they leave them alone if they still want their precious rep not tarnished any further). Thanks for highlighting.
I’m one of the lucky few that still has it downloaded haha we played it not that long ago and to see the quality of graphics not being that different now in games to what P.T. had back then is wild.

I remember an odd glitch I had. I had installed a 3.5 drive adapter for my ps4 and transferred over all my games. During the process some stuff got corrupted. I loaded up p.t for a new run through and the game froze on the intro in the starting room. With Lisa just staring at me through the door. It was easily the most terrifying thing I’ve witnessed in this game. Not to mention how random the scares are. Sometimes she appears outside. It’s just odd. A great disservice that this game never got the full release it so deserved
Its hard to believe this is your first video, considering the detail of research and analysis you've put into this. Konami didn't just fumble the ball, they dropped it onto the golden goose and shat all over the remnants- and I do hope Karma continues to bite them in the everything. I will die mad at the potential the full game could have been- for crying out loud it had Del Toro AND Junji Ito as part of the creative team! Kojima deserved so much better than what Konami did to him and Team Silent- but I'm glad he got to start anew and continue creating. Nice video. I had to evacuate my apartment due to a massive wildfire last year, and I had my dog, important paperwork, and the PS4 I bought off of Ebay that has P.T. on it. XD
I forgot how gruesome and just.. gross the death scene is from Lisa. The heavy droning music that happens when she's crushing your neck that stops when she breaks it is harrowing, and it stops to reveal that you didn't even die from having your neck broke, just paralyzed with Lisa standing over you out of your view. Once again, Silent Hill delivering with the psychological dread, good LORD
There was a video called “ PT Hidden Meaning” that highly satisfied my thoughts on what could of have been and with real life lore mixed in really explaining it well.
17:24 It's especially eerie since to this day, no one knows who the actor is. Does he know about the P.T. phenomenon? Is he ever going to step forward? I've read comments trying to figure out his accent, but none of the names that have been brought up have been exact matches, in my opinion at least. He sounds so different from one line to the next. His delivery in the initial news report vs "you got fired so you drowned your sorrows in booze" vs "dad was such a drag" really shows his range.
Considering he worked on the teaser I imagine he was told the full game was getting cancelled. Also the accent is just a standard American accent with a radio accent a lot of radio MC's adopt

So happy SH2R was a success we needed a win in the community. PT was terrifying. I remember downloading it and having no idea what it was but I was enamored. Me and my sister were so lost. Then my friend told me it was a SH game and I lost it when I heard that.
It is truly mind numbing to think of how this project got axed. PT gave me PT SD lmao, that’s how crazy this one off demo really was. In a saturated genre like horror games, it truly stood out for the precision with which it fucks your mind. An absolute crying shame that this won’t ever see the light of day.

I am still livid that I will never see a Silent Hill game directed by Kojima becasue bro can put the most fucked up stuff inside of it and I'd be there for the ride. In the other hand, PT staying the way it is now created a whole new sub-genre of horror itself, which I am happy about and that probably we wouldn' have gotten if it became real. But, still, my hands itch at the thought of what this could have been.

That would require Kojima and team to stay with an awfully abusive company that even banned them from collecting their own award at the Video Game Awards for the very last Metal Gear game he helmed. I'm as bummed about them not finishing it, but I'd rather they leave for their mental and creative health. Toxic companies and CEOs are the bane of creative projects. Just look at the weird decisions made for the sequels after SH2. It got progressively worse.

After the great remake of Silent Hill 2 by bloober, i think it's safe to say that we will get alot more. May it be completely new games and stories or more remakes. Silent Hill 1 and 3 are still out there.
I came from the future to say Silent Hill 2 Remake was a great game and end up being an amazing horror game, one of the best that released in the last decade. I wish Konami see this as an opportunity to push the series in this way.

It implies that not only was Kojima being pushed out of Konami (and explores those reasons why in depth), but that the Playable Teaser for was Kojima’s biggest “screw you” to the executives at Konami. Again, a lot of the theories posed in the video are speculative and hypothetical, but it actually makes sense when you consider how much information has surfaced about Konami ever since Kojima’s departure.

I never knew the true history and sad corporate truth pt and its creators have dealt with. It made me cry. Now I respect Kojima more than I knew, and now know it wasn't just a falling out between creators, but a cruel business takeover. With it though, seeing true creativity and community build a true studio, makes you have hope in humanity a little bit more, and the changes Kojima and his crew can create to expand the gaming world.
Amazing first video! I was so happy for Kojima Productions and the man himself to come back after Konami did him so dirty. I know a lot of people didn’t “get” Death Stranding but it is a fantastic experience and just drips with this man’s passion and care for his craft.

Fantastic video! I just recently became a fan of the SH franchise after playing the SH2 remake which I absolutely adored. What Konami has done to this franchise and all of their others that aren't mobile games or gamblig is truly abhorrent and greedy. I hope we'll eventually be able to play the older games on modern consoles, but that won't be any time soon. Let's pray they don't cancel these next 2 upcoming Silent Hill games

I was only 12 when PT came out, I remember how scary it was to watch UA-camrs playing it. And I remember the air of disapointment about a year later. apart of me didint understand that the game was never coming out I think.
I have some reservations about the remake, it feels wrong to me to Konami tried so hard to erase Kojima and I'm really mad of the lost of P.T and what could have been and incredible game. Though because of SH2 remake the algorithm gods allowed me to come to your video, and for that I am incredibly thankful. I remember an odd glitch I had. I had installed a 3.5 drive adapter for my ps4 and transferred over all my games. During the process some stuff got corrupted. I loaded up p.t for a new run through and the game froze on the intro in the starting room. With Lisa just staring at me through the door. It was easily the most terrifying thing I’ve witnessed in this game. Not to mention how random the scares are. Sometimes she appears outside. It’s just odd. A great disservice that this game never got the full release it so deserved

I forgot how gruesome and just.. gross the death scene is from Lisa. The heavy droning music that happens when she's crushing your neck that stops when she breaks it is harrowing, and it stops to reveal that you didn't even die from having your neck broke, just paralyzed with Lisa standing over you out of your view. Once again, Silent Hill delivering with the psychological dread, good LORD

17:24 It's especially eerie since to this day, no one knows who the actor is. Does he know about the P.T. phenomenon? Is he ever going to step forward? I've read comments trying to figure out his accent, but none of the names that have been brought up have been exact matches, in my opinion at least. He sounds so different from one line to the next. His delivery in the initial news report vs "you got fired so you drowned your sorrows in booze" vs "dad was such a drag" really shows his range.
Considering he worked on the teaser I imagine he was told the full game was getting cancelled. Also the accent is just a standard American accent with a radio accent a lot of radio MC's adopt

So happy SH2R was a success we needed a win in the community. PT was terrifying. I remember downloading it and having no idea what it was but I was enamored. Me and my sister were so lost. Then my friend told me it was a SH game and I lost it when I heard that.

It is truly mind numbing to think of how this project got axed. PT gave me PT SD lmao, that’s how crazy this one off demo really was. In a saturated genre like horror games, it truly stood out for the precision with which it fucks your mind. An absolute crying shame that this won’t ever see the light of day.

I am still livid that I will never see a Silent Hill game directed by Kojima becasue bro can put the most fucked up stuff inside of it and I'd be there for the ride. In the other hand, PT staying the way it is now created a whole new sub-genre of horror itself, which I am happy about and that probably we wouldn' have gotten if it became real. But, still, my hands itch at the thought of what this could have been.

That would require Kojima and team to stay with an awfully abusive company that even banned them from collecting their own award at the Video Game Awards for the very last Metal Gear game he helmed. I came from the future to say Silent Hill 2 Remake was a great game and end up being an amazing horror game, one of the best that released in the last decade. I wish Konami see this as an opportunity to push the series in this way.

It implies that not only was Kojima being pushed out of Konami (and explores those reasons why in depth), but that the Playable Teaser for was Kojima’s biggest “screw you” to the executives at Konami. Again, a lot of the theories posed in the video are speculative and hypothetical, but it actually makes sense when you consider how much information has surfaced about Konami ever since Kojima’s departure.

Please, keep doing what you're doing. This was one of the best video game documentaries I've ever seen on UA-cam, and I've seen A LOT.
I never knew the true history and sad corporate truth pt and its creators have dealt with. It made me cry. Now I respect Kojima more than I knew, and now know it wasn't just a falling out between creators, but a cruel business takeover. With it though, seeing true creativity and community build a true studio, makes you have hope in humanity a little bit more, and the changes Kojima and his crew can create to expand the gaming world.

Amazing first video! I was so happy for Kojima Productions and the man himself to come back after Konami did him so dirty. I know a lot of people didn’t “get” Death Stranding but it is a fantastic experience and just drips with this man’s passion and care for his craft.
I'm optimistic and excited to see this channel grow as his video library expands and the already great quality evolves.

Fantastic video! I just recently became a fan of the SH franchise after playing the SH2 remake which I absolutely adored. What Konami has done to this franchise and all of their others that aren't mobile games or gamblig is truly abhorrent and greedy. I hope we'll eventually be able to play the older games on modern consoles, but that won't be any time soon. Let's pray they don't cancel these next 2 upcoming Silent Hill games

I was only 12 when PT came out, I remember how scary it was to watch UA-camrs playing it. And I remember the air of disapointment about a year later. apart of me didint understand that the game was never coming out I think.
