Fun fact: this soundtrack takes over 16KB of space in the cartridge, and it is the nes game which soundtrack took the largest amount of space in cart. It is because of the sampled orchestra hits and drums.

I have to admit Im surprised considering the size of Kirby's Adventure, and several games in Japan that have cartridges that allow of sound enhancements to the original hardware of the Famicom/NES (LaGrange point in particular).

So many NES games had soundtracks that made you get up and dance, and that was with limited technology. It's a shame that modern console soundtracks can't capture that same spirit.

I grew up on tthe NES and I will always love 8-bit soundtracks, but i'm sick of all this stupid-ass nostalgia blinded gatekeeping and "nothing is as good as it used to be" bullshit. It's all ignorant bullshit and you know it. Actually try playing a fucking game made in the last 10 years, and admit you're wrong.

I tried to arrange the musical notes in the form of tonic solfa. It was ok, until the tempo/measure of this particular track is pretty confusing and hard to trace.

The best and most memorable thing in this game are the cool looking bosses. And also not forgetting the superb music. They just don't get old even until today.
Seeing the level 6 and 7 bosses as a kid will stick with me forever, not much else from that time looked so METAL

The 2A03 sound chip in the NES, in addition to it's two flex duty pulse wave channels (sometimes mistakenly called its "square wave" channels, though they can in fact, do plain 50% duty square waves in addition to 12.5%, 25%, and 75% duty cycle pulse waves), triangle wave channel, and very competent white noise channel also had a 5th channel, that was not often used in musical applications because of the immense amount of storage space required on the cart and/or RAM to use it, and that's a bona-fide sampler channel.
It's a very low-grade sampler channel, only 1-bit, but it's still a sampler all the same. This game makes GREAT use of the sampler channel in an 8-bit NES context! Listening to it, if you didn't know better, you'd think there was some add-on sound enhancing chip in the cart...but nope. This is bone stock NES hardware at work here. Pretty cool, huh?

This whole OST seems sped up, though. It's usually a little slower.
It's just the song for the Steel Spider. I think it was the Japanese release only or something. The rest of the tracks are correct for the NA release.

@@SylentEcho Steel Spider is sped up in the japanese version and the soundtrack sounds a bit different because the Japanese version has more sound channels for the music (thanks to the VRC6 chip Konami made)

I'm a little sad that the opening to Super C never became the widely-recognized Contra theme... To be honest, I always found the original "jungle" tune to be lacking.
Personally, my favourite theme from the first Contra was the Base theme. I agree with you though I love the first stage theme of Super C a lot.
