Anyone else watching after Tiger just won his 15th major? The 100th US Open was epic, but the emotion from Tiger winning the Masters in 2019 is unparalleled for me as an avid fan of all sports. Damn golf is just better when Tiger is playing well!
Yup, I dare say that Tiger is bigger than golf. Look at the crowd on Sunday. Heck, even the other golfers were so excited. He brought the sport to the new level when he arrived. The sport and the other players owe him a lot. I watched this US Open live. He looked like a superhuman those days. He was human yesterday. He's paid his due and I'm so glad he's back. He's done terrible things in personal life but who hasn't and who cares? He never cheated the game of golf. His story from the high level to his fall will inspire a lot of people.
Yep been enjoying his classics since the recent Masters win. He's still talented enough to win 19 majors. I saw a lot of fear in those guys when Tiger was on and he feeds off that with his mental toughness.
True greatest comeback ever literally on the verge of tears see Tiger win last week coming back from tremendous depths. Some many said it could never happen it would never happen, but this was the greatest most dominant four days of golf ever played

Tiger in 2000 was something the likes we'll probably never see again.... and this was the jewel in the crown. the most dominating major win in my lifetime for sure. simply outstanding
The greatest individual tournament performance ever. Make no mistake folks, that was an authentically brutal USGA setup and Tiger cruised around as though he was playing alongside Bill Murray on the PGA Tour in February.
@@LonghornsLegend Yes, because although he dominated having never won a professional major before, Augusta was playing much easier in '97 than Pebble did in 2000.
LonghornsLegend the 1997 Masters is a much more important win for a lot of different reasons, but the 2000 US Open is without a doubt the jewel in the crown as far as Tiger’s golf game. I think Tiger’s third round in this tournament might be the best round he ever played. Field average was 77 in strong winds, Tiger shot even par (with a TRIPLE on the card mind you) to extend his lead from 6 to 10 heading into Sunday. Although I will give you Tiger’s third round 65 in the 1997 Masters and his iconic “40-30” first round that same year are also on his Mt Rushmore of Major rounds. I would probably round out the Mt Rushmore with this year’s Masters final round, given the long drought and the previous lack of a Sunday comeback in a major

The players of this era (2019) at their very best would struggle to break par if they had played that tournament. That’s how much better Tiger in his prime with inferior technology is than players of today.
BldgWha7 if tiger didn’t exist some dude would have won this at +4 and it would be forgotten about forever. Instead the 100th US Open will be remembered as probably the greatest performance in golf history

Crazy thing about this, when Tiger hit his drive into the ocean on 18, Steve, Tiger's caddie, forgot his extra golf balls back at the room. So Steve handed him the last golf ball they had in the bag. If Tiger lost that then he'd be disqualified. Steve never told him that of course and Tiger proceeds to blast one. But imagine how different history could have been lol
Mark Coleman as much as I loved Sunday and how it made me think about 1997, this 2000 US Open was the closest thing to golfing perfection that has ever existed
It cannot be overstated just how much he dominated in his prime from the late 90s to the mid 00s. It's easy to look at his current 82 wins and think "Oh sure, that was over like 25 years." Nah, MOST of them came between 1997 and 2009. He had multiple seasons that would be career defining for literally anyone else. He won 9 times in 2000 alone! Hell, most people forget he was Player of the Year and won 5 times in 2013. He's won almost 25% of all tournaments he's ever played in. THAT is a ridiculous stat.
If you dont golf you just dont understand how absurd that is...if it hadnt been documented anyone would assume ur lying...its like saying a baseball player hits a homerun half the time he comes up to bat...not a basehit... a homerun...its that unbelievable...fields of hundreds and hundreds of the most elite golfers in the world and he wins more than half the time...not top 10s, not top 5s, not even top 3s...no WINS...he won more tour events in that string of wins than some of the best golfers to ever live will get in a career...and how many of those were majors?
We may never see any mortal human play golf as good as Tiger Woods did in 2000 ever again. And certainly not in the foreseeable future. Nine wins. Three majors. Practically lapped the freaking field in the 2000 US Open. Tiger simply played out of his mind that year, and it was a sight to behold!

Just played pebble twice 2 weeks before the 2019 us open. Unbelievable how tight they cut those fairways, how small the green complexes are. And how thick and sticky the rough was, still with time to lengthen it. Been a dream of mine to see where tiger did this. To play the place that i watched every single shot my idol hit as a 10 year old boy. Unreal. Unreal unreal. Puts this even more into perspective.
I've played Pebble a couple times and what is so easy to not notice watching on TV is how tiny the greens are. 8, 9 and 10 are incredibly difficult holes - and when I've played them, it's been in ideal conditions. I can't even imagine trying to hit that approach on 8 when the wind is going.
