Man i never understood how terrence beat breon in the first place He beats terrence in the Fdb, bdb, side chest. Only poses ruffin wins outright are the abs and thigh and the classic pose of their choice.
They really disrespected breon by having him in 4th, I definitely thought he would take 3rd MAYBE second. A former Arnold champ that is super complete besides his waist and being a little narrow compared to the others shouldn’t have bumped him down that much.
Why maybe second though? Do you really think Terence is a clear winner? He is looking like a small child next to these guys. Makes the division look kind of like a joke imo isn´t this still bodybuilding?
@@Fdanism I don’t think size is important like that in this division, he was big for what his frame could put on. He’s much more complete than 2nd and 4th place and that’s why he won, not every winner needs to be a hulking giant. Besides Terrance for idk what reason you brought him up for, yes I think breon could’ve taken second. But not easily at all I just think there was a chance he could but I leaned for him much more in 3rd because his quads from the front were small compared to Ramon and Ramon’s taper was much better. Ramon still needs to bring up his chest cause it looks shallow in the side chest and it wouldn’t hurt him to get even more back work in. At that point then he’d push guys like Terrance and cbum even more.
@@Fdanism and just adding to your last comment, bodybuilding was never meant to be for the biggest guy on stage. There are plenty of Mr O’s who weren’t mass monster and even more accomplished bbers who were on the smaller side
@@gigitman123 i am not saying the winner has to be necessarily the biggest guy on stage, but muscle mass should at least somewhat matter. It´s a muscle contest after all, and I think even though its a different category with more emphasis on aesthetics and shape, the difference in size it too big. i also don´t agree he is the most complete guy. His arms and delts for example are pretty weak imo, the only part of breons body that is not world class are the abs and the abs only
@@Fdanism they’re all extremely muscular, it’s not like Terrance walked on stage 110lbs of bones. Go look at bodybuilders without borders on Instagram and see how you’re wrong about the weak arms and shoulders, the only guy on stage out of the 4 that had superior arms and shoulders was breon but his narrow clavicles which led to his lacking taper compared to the others and faded abs pushed him down. Terrance beats Ramon in almost every pose, the difference in size doesn’t matter. If one guy is 5’5 and the other is 6’2 the judges aren’t going to tell the 5’5 guy to compensate for his highest, there’s a reason for the weight limits at every height.
1. Ramone 2. Breon 3. Terrence 4. Urs Ramone has the least amount of flaws but I can see an argument for Breon in 1st (best fdb & bdb imo). Terrence looks underwhelming in the fdb (which is arguably the most important pose for classic physique) and he has no "knockout" poses but is still solid overall. Urs has a nice frame but his back and arms are too far behind.
Excellent analysis as always! I must say that although Terrence Ruffin's side tricep's pose might not be the most 'original', he looks absolutely fantastic in it!
Probably the best, most valid/precise analysis from the category (not the first time by the @Tomn8er) + Minor note: Right, the use of the word "flow" has really been used a lot lately, but it still very much describes the overall aesthetic effect in many cases. + Sadly (but fair) that my compatriot Péter Molnár was not in the top 4, I would have liked to have seen and listened to the comparison and analysis in that context.
No wonder why I follow your technical comments since 2016. Thought I was crazy listening people dismissing Ramon's phisic, based on nothing. The kid with terrence's level of posing can give Cbum a run for his money. Plus no way Urs can be ahead of Breon. Give Urs the good looking and nice guy award ok lol
impressed by all four. If I was in heaven and got to choose my physique, my choice would be Terrence's. I have been out of the loop for a few years and hope the win isn't automatically given to the tallest. my choice is always with the most symmetric than the most beef.
From the livestream, for me Terrence, Ramon, and Breon were all really close. As you said, Terrence looked a little washed out, and for me he doesn't stand out in any poses except the ab&thigh. Ramon and Breon have much more wow factor in the other poses. (I love Ramon's front single bicep in the favorite classic pose!!) I suppose Terrence is the best overall and in real life though. Oh, and obviously Breon got screwed, nothing else to say...
“With a greater emphasis on aesthetics and presentation” Exactly why Terrence won: he is the most proportional and well rounded, with the best posing to back it up. Ramon with a very close 2nd. Breon’s problem is he’s not as proportional anymore, he’s just an absolute mass monster. Love the guy and his physique is amazing, but it doesn’t meet 1st place criteria for classic
I don't know what poor Breon can do at this point. I thought he was probably the best he had ever been. And still got placed under 2 up a comers, the shift is definitely somewhere else outside Muscle and conditioning. It would seem pretty harsh that whats keeping him from winning is just the waist...
Well thats what stopped Phil from winning 8 or even more Os. A midsection is what ties the physique together. I would personally place Breon 2nd behind Terrence but I can somewhat see
Side chest with straight arms showcasing the forearms would be the best pose for ramon I think. And if he grow his lats a bit he could go for a Sergio Oliva straight arms up
Say what you will about structures, but no one can deny that Breon is the only Olympia champion that has never gotten a champion's courtesy. Its like they couldn't take the title from him fast enough despite bringing more improvements than his competition. If you don't know what a champion's courtesy looks like, consider how the 212 version of Brandon placed first instead of 4th in the same show
My eyes goes to Ramon and Urs, and then Terrance, and Ansley. Ternnace is a masterful poser and has an amazing body but those two taller guys are just stunning.
When people say that Breon should go to 212, they need to consider that he is more than 40 years old. Is he able to put the amount of mass that is necessary? It would be good to his career to start again in a new division which is already consolidated? Maybe the smarter move, if the thinks that he will not place higher in Classic Physique would be to retire and take care of his heath.
I agree 100% on the favourite classic pose. I think a good idea for Ruff is going for the more artistic poses, and Ramon should do something like the crucifix or the victory pose, that very much praise his arms
That is the best division by far!! Look at that physics, fucking awesome. It was a great show, but I don't know how Urs placed higher than Breon. Urs has good lines and his legs are amazing, but his upper body lacks, his arms are one of the weakest of the division and his back doesn't have neither density nor details compared to the other tops. And that Ramon is really something else, fucking aesthetic, physic like golden era. Look at this rounded muscles, just incredible. If he improves his poses and add a little more muscle in specifics points like the lower back and the lats... man I don't know if Ruff beats him anymore.
Breon truly is getting screwed. I really don't care if Terrence has better "flow" or a slightly better mid-section, everything else about him is worse. Let's not even talk about Urs placing above Breon. I'm kind of sick of this Terrence hype train every judge seems to be on, truthfully, Terrence hasn't really even made any improvements since his increase in popularity, so claims of Breon not making any either don't make sense. In the end of the day, Breon was more complete and already very aesthetic, if Terrence and Breon both don't make very many improvements, then Breon still wins.
i've said this on other youtube videos but 2019 was a turning point for classic. it's clear that judges are pivoting away from Breon's physique. I knew then that they would slowly phase Breon out by dropping his placings year after year, starting with Terrence and now Urs & Ramon. My 2 cents is that it only took so long simply due to politics as the IFBB would look real stupid if they suddenly dropped Breon all of a sudden after having him win twice in a row. You say you don't agree that Urs was placed over Breon, citing weak arms and back, forgetting that it's that exact same version of Cbum that beat Breon back in 2019. If it could happen back then why can it not happen again? If classic were judged anything like the 212/open division Breon will be a 5-time mr olympia by now.
Can't see Breon beating a 2020 or 2021 Bumstead even in the open class. Remember that the side tricep, front lat spread and rear lat spread would become mandatory poses and Chris would smoke Breon in them. Just my 2 cents tho
I think it's the posing that puts him over the top. And though he starts out kinda weak in the first two poses, he finishes strong in the last three. But yeah, I don't get why the judges seem to love him _that_ much.
@@BatmanBoss Maybe it's because he is young and they see a potentially "marketable" future there. He even says he doesn't even diet that heavy for these shows and has admitted to not being as pealed as the rest of the guys. So who knows :(
The Arnold's top judging priority in Open and Classic was to penalize waists that are blockier or washed out. This explains Bonac in 2nd, Rodriguez in 4th, and Breon in 4th. These three were arguably the most muscular in their divisions.
Breon looked amazing and its a shame how the judges dismiss him. Ive never seen a former Mr. Olympia get so much disrespect. Terrance is so small and overrated I just don't understand why everyone is so infatuated with him.
The IFBB judges simply want breon gone for some reason It‘s true that from structure stand point he is not quite as good as the other guys here(although still amazing) but the difference in his arms back and quads in comparison to somebody like urs is ridiculous And you also cant argue height since the smallest guy on stage actually wins
I do think at the least Breon should have been in 3rd Urs is just missing to many body parts to compete with Breon. Terrence was done super dirty under the finals lighting he looked so much better under the prejudging light. The main reason I think Breon was placed under Breon (I don’t know why he was placed under Urs) is because Breons lower body seemed to small and flat. He kinda has the Peter molnar problem but less severe. Imo rn Ramon is to narrow through the lats and chest at times it seems like Terrence was as wide as Ramon
I never understand the ruff hype… how is breon not winning? If muscle mass and maturity are unwanted then lou, arnold, mike mentzer, tom platz are not classic?
You need to see some HD videos Terrence had insane condition and separation from the back. From photo comparisons and live stream him and Breon looked pretty comparable in the lower back and hamstrings but Terrence looks twice as dry in hd videos and photos.
Breon came from 212 and wasnt dominant there. And i dont think he would be now. So people are misguided saying he should go to 212. Classic is where he belongs, but he just doesn't have the structure to beat cbum and Terrance. He can still win shows and get good olympia placings. Thats his potential right now.
It’s simple even the Breon haters can see that he has the better package overal here. He fell out of grace with the judges. There is some kind of BS happening behind the scenes. It’s unfortunate. 🤦🏾♂️
At this point it's getting weird. Breon has improved tons in the direction men's physique is going but he is shafted at every turn the last years. His structure and thigh sweep aren't ideal but he has a bunch of features such as a great set of abs and arms that a lot of the top guys today don't.
Breon is getting screwed plain and simple. I dont agree with him switching to 212 though. I dont think his asthetics will be awarded there, and at his age, why try to pack on so much more size, and even then, dont think he could ever look filled out enough for that class. compared to the top 212 guys i think his placings in 212 would be far lower than classic. Judges need to rethink their placings smh..
@@Tomn8er True, but their structures differ so much. Georges frame just gave that impression of muscularity above all else imo. Breon has the muscularity, but on his structure just dont think it gives the same impact. But maybe should give it a try, only going down in placings here, and seeing him more filled out, would be interesting for sure
There were 2 guys who were screwed in this competition. Breon is obviously 1, the other is Peter Molnar. In that final posedown he looks awesome. Bigger/thicker/more muscular than even Breon, and he has very good ‘flow’ too. I don’t know when the 2 are being overlooked. From being a 2 time Mr. Olympia, and whilst improving, but slowly placing worse each competition.. I’d be pissed and confused if I were Breon. Peter meanwhile should have at least placed 5th, if not 4th.

@@imhopelesslyaddictedtofent4266 there's a weight cap in 212 also. What is wrong with you people? It's called "classic" for a reason. The division exists for a reason, to be different from other divisions. Your entire argument screams that you want classic to be "skinny open bodybuilder division". Just like 212 is the "short midget open bodybuilder division".
What's the point and what's next, make division for every specific look and height? "big gut beer belly open division" ?
Pretty much. Look no further than how men's physique has changed.
haha that long zooming out shot at the end was so perfect. Its like you were the one running the cameras :D
Btw last week watching the AC videos I realized i have been already watching this channel for 5 years. Found you back in the day with that og Best pose of all time series. Time flew by. Feels like yesterday when Rich and Dallas were the topic of the year and Arnold intro was mandatory. Thx for the body of work you created of the years. I have no idea who would i watch for bb contest analysis without this channel.
Breon robbed for the 2th
Tomn8er I know you provably wont read this... but I just want you yo know that your vides are amazing and you make the highest quality bodybuilding vids on UA-cam. Even if you don't upload much you make up with it by having extremely high quality vids.
Finally the good YT content again ;)
I won't say that Ramon is the most complete classic on that stage, because he isn't. But damn his aesthetics are simply insane!
His torso is too long. His arms too big with little shape. And his posing is only decent.
@@chessgains8075 I think it’s more a case of his chest attaching too high on his torso so that makes it look that way
Great vid, i clearly think breon deserved at least 3rd above urs, hes better overal even though he doesn’t look as classic as urs that crisp conditioning and insane density has to be rewarded
They all looked amazing! Terence especially! Impressed by everyone :)
Thanks for putting in the names of the competitors in all your videos. I know these guys but in other videos I forgot to say thanks. It's extremely helpful!
The judges did Breon dirty, they want him to go to 212 so badly
I think Urs is somehwat overrated in my opinion. His lower body is absolutely incredible but the shape of his ribcage looks strange when combined with his lats and his chest is extremely weak from the side. Still a good physique regardless but I don't see him ever beating Terrance or Cbum.
He was flat AF
His arms are the worst
Ever? He's like 23. He's got a way to go but I think once Ruffin and Cbum start tailing off Urs will be in his prime. Give it 5 years.
@@dizzle_p1338 but thats the thing, i don't see these guys competing till they look like shit like the open guys. Once they start to slip they'll probably hang it up. Especially given how much of a perfectionist ruffin is
@@jamesdavey8675 yeah I suppose. I could definitely see Cbum retiring right after an Olympia win. We'll see.
I think Breons drop in placings has to do with only things outside of his physique. What he says and does in social media.
mind elaborating? I don't follow these guys
@@97mesutLong story short, Breon is a rude and cocky trash talking guy with low self esteem.
@@97mesut he criticized the judges the very first time he lost to CBUM. Eversince that time, they’ve been knocking his spots down year after year
@@97mesut Usually when a competitor loses the judge will give them criticisms on how to improve and where they are lacking, normally people take the constructive criticism and go back to working Breon instead just kept talking shit was extremely rude and cocky. Don't let his positive talking fool you Breon ego is very fragile for someone who is that arrogant
@@97mesut He generally comes across as unlikeable. Kind of like Phil Heath or Jeremy Buendia. I dont follow these guys either but i watch Nicks Strength and power for example.
Man i never understood how terrence beat breon in the first place
He beats terrence in the Fdb, bdb, side chest.
1. Ramone
2. Breon
3. Terrence
4. Urs
Ramone has the least amount of flaws but I can see an argument for Breon in 1st (best fdb & bdb imo). Terrence looks underwhelming in the fdb (which is arguably the most important pose for classic physique) and he has no "knockout" poses but is still solid overall. Urs has a nice frame but his back and arms are too far behind.
Breon is a savage, athletic look.
Excellent analysis as always!
I must say that although Terrence Ruffin's side tricep's pose might not be the most 'original', he looks absolutely fantastic in it!
Yeah on his own I'm sure it looks great. In a lineup he looks closed up and gets overshadowed IMO. Preferred his archer pose at the beginning.
the king of bodybuilding content
Probably the best, most valid/precise analysis from the category (not the first time by the @Tomn8er) + Minor note: Right, the use of the word "flow" has really been used a lot lately, but it still very much describes the overall aesthetic effect in many cases. + Sadly (but fair) that my compatriot Péter Molnár was not in the top 4, I would have liked to have seen and listened to the comparison and analysis in that context.
Tbh I don't even understand how is Terance betting Breon, it actually blows my mind...
ramon imo should do the crucifix followed by a victory pose with those forearms and arms of his instead of that twisting back double bi
Great to have you back tom🤝
1. Terrence 2. Ramon 3. Breon and without a doubt number 4. Urs
Legit, I was baffled when Breon was announced 4th
Breon facing what the late great george peterson faced back when he was competing in classic physique.
“With a greater emphasis on aesthetics and presentation”
Exactly why Terrence won: he is the most proportional and well rounded, with the best posing to back it up.
I would personally place Breon 2nd behind Terrence but I can somewhat see
@@konev13thebeast but he has a great midsection
@@jakearrow8047 yes he does but for classic standards its not enough
Side chest with straight arms showcasing the forearms would be the best pose for ramon I think.
And if he grow his lats a bit he could go for a Sergio Oliva straight arms up
Say what you will about structures, but no one can deny that Breon is the only Olympia champion that has never gotten a champion's courtesy. Its like they couldn't take the title from him fast enough despite bringing more improvements than his competition.
If you don't know what a champion's courtesy looks like, consider how the 212 version of Brandon placed first instead of 4th in the same show
Urs did turn 23 recently. That kid will be future Mr. O Classic if he keeps it up.
My eyes goes to Ramon and Urs, and then Terrance, and Ansley. Ternnace is a masterful poser and has an amazing body but those two taller guys are just stunning.
Was waiting on your view on this category…
I personally, wouldn't have had a problem if Ramon would have won...🤷🏾
Best reviews always.
Breon was the best no questions asked in my book. It seems funny to say this since I'm not usually a fan of Breon
How the fuck does Ramon lose to the German kid. Said the same thing at the Olympia WTF dude
Great analysis as always.
6:47 ramon looks insane
4:23 Great point. thanks for talking about it
i've said this on other youtube videos but 2019 was a turning point for classic. it's clear that judges are pivoting away from Breon's physique.
Breon draws my eye more than the rest. 4th place seems disrespectful.
I think the idea is, if you don’t have a small waist, you won’t get top 2. That’s clearly the message they keep sending to Breon.
Breon is definitely the better bodybuilder in this lineup
60 grand is a generous upgrade but still a bit less than what their impact to the industry
I am honostly not sure why Terrence wins so much...I just don't like his physic and he is always soft..No calves, horrible arms
I think it's the posing that puts him over the top. And though he starts out kinda weak in the first two poses, he finishes strong in the last three. But yeah, I don't get why the judges seem to love him _that_ much.
I’m not a fan either. I’d much rather look like Breon or the other two guys.
@@BatmanBoss Maybe it's because he is young and they see a potentially "marketable" future there. He even says he doesn't even diet that heavy for these shows and has admitted to not being as pealed as the rest of the guys. So who knows :(
Once a mr Olympia forever a mr Olympia 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾, breon the black swan 🦢🖤🥞 Ansley
The Arnold's top judging priority in Open and Classic was to penalize waists that are blockier or washed out. This explains Bonac in 2nd, Rodriguez in 4th, and Breon in 4th. These three were arguably the most muscular in their divisions.
Man, no idea how Breon got 4th, I would have no problem if he was 1st
i think its amazing what terrence can do in classic with his height
these guys need to teach the open bodybuilders how to pose lol.
Ramon presented himself better here than at the O. He definitely improved his physique but the tan and posing were just superior.
in no normal world Ruffin is beating Breon , what they are doing to Breon is pure bs , in every pose my eyes go to him !!!!
Yeah by open or 212 standards he wins this easily. Not sure you can judge this division quite the same as that though.
Breon looked amazing and its a shame how the judges dismiss him. Ive never seen a former Mr. Olympia get so much disrespect. Terrance is so small and overrated I just don't understand why everyone is so infatuated with him.
I’m not a big Ruffin fan. Too small
Prize money 💰 went up! That’s great
The IFBB judges simply want breon gone for some reason
It‘s true that from structure stand point he is not quite as good as the other guys here(although still amazing) but the difference in his arms back and quads in comparison to somebody like urs is ridiculous
And you also cant argue height since the smallest guy on stage actually wins
I'm taking breon in the front double
I do think at the least Breon should have been in 3rd Urs is just missing to many body parts to compete with Breon. Terrence was done super dirty under the finals lighting he looked so much better under the prejudging light. The main reason I think Breon was placed under Breon
(I don’t know why he was placed under Urs) is because Breons lower body seemed to small and flat. He kinda has the Peter molnar problem but less severe. Imo rn Ramon is to narrow through the lats and chest at times it seems like Terrence was as wide as Ramon
Finally 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤯
F*ck controversy, I can't have enough of the posing and it's fluidity by Terrence. That shit smooth
Breon and Bonac got screwed
Judging sucks
I never understand the ruff hype… how is breon not winning? If muscle mass and maturity are unwanted then lou, arnold, mike mentzer, tom platz are not classic?
bro breon is extremely impressive, keep in mind the mans 43!!!
You need to see some HD videos Terrence had insane condition and separation from the back. From photo comparisons and live stream him and Breon looked pretty comparable in the lower back and hamstrings but Terrence looks twice as dry in hd videos and photos.
You gotta do more classic analyses
Breon came from 212 and wasnt dominant there. And i dont think he would be now. So people are misguided saying he should go to 212. Classic is where he belongs, but he just doesn't have the structure to beat cbum and Terrance. He can still win shows and get good olympia placings. Thats his potential right now.
It’s simple even the Breon haters can see that he has the better package overal here. He fell out of grace with the judges. There is some kind of BS happening behind the scenes. It’s unfortunate. 🤦🏾♂️
Breon has a Yujiro hanma like back🔥Crazy
At this point it's getting weird. Breon has improved tons in the direction men's physique is going but he is shafted at every turn the last years. His structure and thigh sweep aren't ideal but he has a bunch of features such as a great set of abs and arms that a lot of the top guys today don't.
Where was Cbum ?
Breon is getting screwed plain and simple.
I dont agree with him switching to 212 though. I dont think his asthetics will be awarded there, and at his age, why try to pack on so much more size, and even then, dont think he could ever look filled out enough for that class. compared to the top 212 guys
i think his placings in 212 would be far lower than classic. Judges need to rethink their placings smh..
Agreed but disagree about him not placing well in 212. George Peterson (RIP) was less filled out than Breon with worse legs and was taking 3rd there.
@@Tomn8er True, but their structures differ so much. Georges frame just gave that impression of muscularity above all else imo. Breon has the muscularity, but on his structure just dont think it gives the same impact. But maybe should give it a try, only going down in placings here, and seeing him more filled out, would be interesting for sure
judging has indeed changed, and they are not going back. but i like it this way. tbh :)
Rewatching this again and I still just don’t get how Terrence win this comp
Shame that you're just hearting the comments that agree with you. People shit on Nick for influencing what people think but I don't see how this is any better. I totally disagree that Urs is overrated because his lines are so fantastic with his quad sweep.
I heart comments I agree with because yeah... why would I heart the ones that I disagree with? Sometimes I will if they're well-constructed but do you generally go around liking video comments you think are off-base? Doubt it.
@@Tomn8er you wouldn't only heart the ones you agree with because it skews the discussion toward a bias. This is because UA-cam prioritizes comments hearted by the creator. Come on man you know this stuff
Breon def deserved third or second imo. I understand tryna reward classic structures but Urs has FAR to many missing body parts for that to be an excuse. Ofc he is going to grow and he has to the potential to beat breon but I think this was a political decision and an attempt to get Breon out of classic physique bc the higher ups are tired of him.
