@@ben2474 Chad didnt want the money. He just didnt want to waste the prep and ronnies legacy at that point. And clearly Chad would look terrible if the industry knew Ronnie dropped out and went to the hospital because of dehydration (everyone would blame his coach for the aggressive protocol)

I know some people feel that 2009 was Jay's best year but I have to disagree. I've always felt that 2001 was Jay Cutler's best look by far

I was at the show and ronnie trailed after prejudging. He somehow made up the difference in rounds that did not count. The crowd we were all gasping people were out of their chairs when Jay hit the stage for prejudging. People were on their phones calling everyone they knew because Jay won!
Jay was robbed bro robbed of the title. Ronnie was a lot bigger but looked terrible. Terrible! He collapsed for several minutes after winning he was in shock. Jay was robbed.

Ronnie somehow passed Jay from the night show which should have been impossible and further more Ronnie pulled an American flag out from his posing trunks during his routine (this was just after 9/11) which was against Ifbb rules (no props!) Yet Ronnie was not marked down for that. He was gifted that sandow.
Ronnie wasn't gifted anything lol. He smokes jay from the back which is the most important muscle group in bodybuilding if you didn't know. They split the side shots 1-1, and the front double is pretty much neck and neck. MM wasn't mandatory but Ronnie takes it as well. At the end of the day Ronnie was more conditioned overall, and more complete when you go body part for body part (which is exactly how they judge shows). So who gives a shit if you were there at the show if you don't know anything about how bodybuilding judging works. I could go to a cricket game tomorrow and say whatever I want, even tho I don't know shit about it lol.

If I'm being totally honest, the Coleman midsection is something I just can't deal with. The greatest bodybuilder ever can't have a 4 pack and distended stomach. From 2001 onward, it got worse and he never paid for it at all. Ronnie was a beast but damnit the gut is hard to look at. Second only to the gyno from 98.

Love Ronnie and Jay. Every year i watched just for those two. Had to see how impressive Ronnie would be and how Jay would respond to the challenge.
I think in 2001, the bodybuilding industry was just complacent. Things were going good with Ronnie and they ignored the escalating issue of the bubble gut. Think about i, we had to wait 15 years after this for the bubble gut issue to be pointed out by Luimarco and escalated by Arnold's complaints about it.
And to think Jay Cutler would win more Olympias than any other if only Ronnie Coleman wasn't there. Imagine having a top tier genetic only to be competing in the same era of the BEST genetic of all times for this sport.

wtf are you talking about you dont like Jay's abs because they're not symmetrical? Flex Wheeler had asymmetrical abs, Serge Nubret's abs were asymmetrical, those were 1 & 2 in your most aesthetics list. the obliques point was good but cmon Tom this is just hypocritical
Alright you're right the asymmetry thing is a minor flaw. Thierry Pastel also had lopsided abs but still one of the best midsections ever. I guess in Jay's case the wide lovehandle thing he's got going on is what really turns me off. Ruins his flow

It doesn’t even matter that the abs are asymmetrical or has a split in them. At one point, Ronnie had a pretty nice midsection with a 4 pac and with an ab split. It matters more about how good the flow of the midsection is compared to the whole body. Just look at Jay’s abs and thighs, it’s like his waist is as big as his back!

I think when you have stomach distension even in posing mandatory poses, then you are out .having some distension during transition of pose is ok , but how the hack is this acceptable to have a gut like this even when hitting front poses , you are supposed to contract all the muscle group you are going to show during posing , if the stomach distend just prove that you completely lost control over a large muscle group and have some health issues with your body , how can this be considered as a bodybuilding champion , the iconic people and the ambassador of the sport?
Ronnie beats him from the back…but Jay takes both the side poses and the front poses….that tells me that Jay should have won….not to mention that even though Ronnie was huge, Jay just looked alot better.

I guess, in the judges’ eyes, having smooth back but good midsection, is worse than having a perfect back and bad midsection. And it’s a point game, not a better pose game. He might have won 5-3 in people’s opinion, but the point difference from his 5 wins and 3 wins from Ronnie, goes for Ronnie, just because of the back poses

Jay should've won. Overall he's a more completely developed bodybuilder, one of the most complete ever. Ronnie although very impressive, never was. Jay should've won.

I always felt Ronnie looked less that confident on stage that year and he knew he brought a sub par look, no doubt injuries were already starting to catch up with him given his training style. It just seemed like he was struggling to stay tight and the minute he could exhale he looked bloated and distended given many of those candid photo’s off stage and or after the show was over.
I love Jay but I don't think ppl realise that even an off Ronnie still beats jay and anyone that ever stepped on stage.. how dominant he was,and if you saw them in person you'd clearly see the diff. Ronnie had over other guys,he was in a league of his own and a freak

In my view Ronnie deserved the win, he was massive, unbeatable from the back, had a little gut going on maybe, but still nothing compared to 2003 or some of the awfull guts we see today. His tigh sweep was also crazy, especially in that side chest, that's some beef right there! His posing routine wasn't great, I liked his posing routines in 96' 98' and 99', but after that his posing routines weren't that great. I don't think Ronnie is known for his masterpiece posing routines anyway, cutler and levrone had nice posing routines in 01'. But all this takes nothing away from the fact that it wasn't a walk in the parc for big Ron, cutler really looked freakin' phenomenal in some shots, that most muscular shot especially, DAYM SON!, and for being a massive guy, that midsection was on point!
Word man I can agree with most of that. As I said, I still lean towards Jay because the midsection but I don't have a big problem with Ronnie winning this one. It wasn't a robbery

and on that back double bicep pose at 7:00 i say it is slightly tied because of the pure number of striations you can see in jays shoulders and tricep sweep. ronnie didnt even have the striations he was just full and retaining water. Jay just happened to not be flexing his glutes at that second and ronnie having the unsymmetrical ronnies lats. In that pose I would give them a tie because it wasnt fully performed well by both candidates but jay had striations and ronnie just had the deep insertions in the back

Ronnie is so badass I tend to ignore his gut. As awesome as Jay was I give it to Ronnie and not just based on size, he was so balanced and flowing, his gut and side tricep being his only weakness I can see

Jay was not in league of Ronnie in 2001 . But in 2006 when Ronnie was fading Jay brought the best back and glutes superior to Ronnie. In 2006 Ronnie had problems hitting back poses his lats had asymmetry. Olympia's are won from back poses and Jay beat Ronnie in back poses in 2006. So Jay deserved to win at 2006. 2001 was not Jay's.

Luv ur vids man but here's some info you don't know. Ron couldn't move the morn of prejudging & had to drink a gallon of water & eat just to make it to the stage. Back then Ronnie just used Slin for carb up before the contest. This is 1 reason he was so bloated. I think he used Slin off season 1st time in 2003. So Ron is water bloated & they find 6 different diuretics in Jays sample; which 2001 was diuretic tested. Like you said close from the front & side but Ronnie's back being so superior it was a deserved win. There are videos where Ronnie talks about almost not making it onstage on YT BUT here's an interview from BB.com so no one has to look it up. [ RC ] Because I almost died

You either get 1st or 2nd in a 2 man call-out.Like Dorian said in the Rxmuscle interview, regarding his 97 win-It didn' t matter Nasser looked 20 times better in FDB and he( Dorian) just barely edged out the FLS, its 1-1 in the scoring, end of.
At this contest Jay won both prejudging rounds.I can totally see how Ronnie won the posing round and pose down ( sort of) but isn't the prejudging the "actual" show, i mean in determining who actually had the better phisique?
Jay won the symmetry round,won front relaxed and 2 side relaxed poses, all of it because he had a much tighter midsection( and less watery).Ronnie was kinda, always vulnerable in the 2 side relaxed shots,due to his midsection, but also because his thighs were too large for his calves( in relation to Jay and in general).He also, didn't have a deep rib cage( arguably his least noticed flaw).So upstairs despite having a crazy thick chest and back he wasn't that thick in the side relaxed.
Here is what I'm talking about, at the 2000 Mr O, when Ronnie was almost identical to thsi 01 version in terms of size, condition etc

Ronnie had 20 lb on Levrone and nearly 30 lb on Flex but you'd never know it .
As for the muscularity round, it isn't necessarily won by the most muscular guy.If the most muscular guy( here was Ronnie obviously) isn't also the most conditioned, that can affect him in certain of his so called strong poses.
Yes Ronnie won the side chest(barely) and 2 back poses, but that's pretty much it.
And even if Ronnie was very dominant in the 2 rear positions, wasn't Jay equally dominant in the abs & thigh and side triceps?where he arguably destroyed him in almost everything ?
Jay also on the front lat spread here, even though Ronnie had a much better back, his worse balance, worse condition and bad execution of the pose, and gut issues, made it Jays,despite Jay not having as good lats or a particularly great taper.
You're left with the FDB which normally Ronnie wins( I like him from the pictures and old video footage more tbh), but since Jay was much better conditioned and had a much better midsection ....well, they gave this pose to Cutler.We know this because of the scorecard which says it was he and not Coleman who won muscularity round, so he had to win at least 4 poses out of total 7 compulsories.
As for Ronnie winning the posing round , that is hugely debatable.Even if his routine was better than Cutler's, was it better than Shawns, Levrones, Cormier or Melvin Anthony?no not really, especially when you factor in how poor his transitions are.This is where bodybuilding is at it's most subjective.

The reason you gave for believing this is because "robbed is a strong word?" Hmm?.. I doubt most people would consider "being robbed of a win" and "should've won, but didn't because of politics" any different. Just my opinion though.

Depends how you define clickbait. Was I trying to make the title something provocative and catchy? Of course. But IMO this indeed was not a robbery. You can't really be robbed when you get killed from the back in a show that is said to be won from the back. Robbery was what happened to Victor in 07 or Padilla/Platz in 81.

I don't know. Some of the relaxed shots in the beginning I would definitely give to Jay but man Ronnie is just so god damn big!! And those biceps! The back! The quads! His condition or should I say lack of an aesthetic mid-section with some distention is probably the reason people say that Jay was robbed because once they turn around to show the back it's lights out and we all know the back wins bodybuilding shows. I don't agree with this way of thinking. I get it, be complete 360' and don't forget about hamstrings and glutes but really who cares about glutes. Not me. See again (and this is just my opinion) yes Ronnie kills him from behind (that’s what she said) but this year Jay had everything else almost but why does Ronnie kill him in the rear poses?? Was Ronnie able to keep that back going because he ruined his already average midsection?? I just don’t think 1 guy who may look better or “win more poses” than another guy should win if to keep winning certain poses he has to ruin others with a huge belly. Jay should have won 2001 in my opinion and Ronnie should have been told to get things in check or you’ll never win again. Instead the opposite happened Ronnie saw the competition coming so he went full retard absolutely alien proportions but ruined aspects of his body (separation some details and obviously that midsection completely ruined) to keep winning. Same with Dorian he should have been told around 96 keep things in check or you won’t be winning
