    This is a side note to the video, but I think it should be mentioned that Chris deserves a moment of appreciation from all Bodybuilding fans. His extreme popularity, because of his incredible physique and character have done the entire Bodybuilding world a favour. As of right now he has gained 1.1 million followers on Instagram within 4 days over the course of the olympia. Great to see him carve out a legacy and have his best battle to date against Ramon 🔥🏆

    Such a shame the judges decided they didn't like Breon's physique anymore. These past couple Olympias I feel like there was a case for him to be at least top 2 from a pure musculature standpoint. Dude has no real weak bodypart.

    • @DCJayhawk57
      @DCJayhawk57 Рік тому +43

      But is he Classic? I'm not so sure, he looks like a 212 guy to me. I don't really like any of the short guys in the Classic Physique division. Nobody sets out to look like Franco, and Breon is even a far cry from Frank Zane (who is 5'9", not 5'7" like Breon).

    • @MindTriksCF
      @MindTriksCF Рік тому +26

      Breon may not have any weak muscles groups but his blocky midsection and waist doesn't do his body any justice. Bodybuilding is a very subjective sport but even moreso in the classic division where it's all about aesthetics. Compare his midsection now to when he won his two olympias and its clear as day that he looked more aesthetic/more classic. Also factoring in that there are way taller competitors with smaller waists, it hurts him even more. But I do agree that Breon should definitely place higher.

    Great coverage Tom as always. Chris could easily keep winning this as long as he’s willing to go and after weigh ins he said he still had a couple of more pounds he can add and I think he will keep going until he’s fully maxed out. 2lbs more on his arms may be the final death blow to everyone since he’s weighed in at 237.8 (not that he needs it to keep winning). To think this guy could win 10 in a row if he wanted it, is crazy! #5 coming next year.

  • @DCJayhawk57

    This is by far Wesley's best showing. I think he's finally figuring out conditioning with his new coach though still has a ways to go. If he hadn't looked soft in the lower body from behind, I think he'd have been in 6th, not 8th. I thought he should have been above Fabian who only placed higher because of conditioning.
    Wesley previously seemed to be pushing the weight cap, but I believe he weighed in at 2 kg below his weight cap in clothes, and that was for the 6'2-3" height when he ended up measuring at 6'3" (in the past he's measured just under at a few shows). If he can pull a Bumstead and figure out how to measure in at peak height every time, he'll be allowed 7 lb more weight which could equate overall to 12 lb+ more muscle on his frame on stage in peak condition, which I believe he needs in the glutes, hams/adductors, and low back to be competitive for top 3 eventually. He can't play the small tapered guy game, that's not his strength, he's more of a powerful Arnold-type physique with his good arms and broad clavicles. He's more akin to 70s aesthetic whereas some of the other guys are more 80s. Someone needs to make Wesley do some heavy deadlifts and high rep squats, I've followed his training for a while and he does too many machines. I know he's risk averse, but his back shots expose his lack of heavy barbell training.
    However, I do appreciate that Wesley is conservative with how much mass he's putting on each season, slow and steady is how the old school guys did it.
    I personally am not a huge fan of Ramon, I think he's too narrow. Although his back has good detail, he looks slim like a Men's Physique guy from behind. I also don't like his Sergio-esque peakless biceps. Urs honestly has the same problems.
    Mike looks awesome, his structure reminds me so much of a wider Frank Zane. If he had been more conditioned he'd be a threat for the #2 spot.

    Year by year Chris just seems to get better, his conditioning this year was crazy yet he was still full.
    Only thing that caught my eye was his left bicep, it seemed faded almost a little fuzzy/blurred looking. It didn’t detract a ton from his overall look and he still deserved to win but it was definitely something I noticed and I’m curious if something happened.
    Chris definitely deserved the win, despite the competition making surprising gains in one year he still a head and shoulders above everyone else with a fair bit of breathing room. Congrats to Cbum for the 4th win, I hope he keeps going and racking up wins, and I’m genuinely curious how many he can take. I nearly lost it when you mentioned how similar a lot of these guys look. I absolutely agree, and I’ve lost some interest in this division for that exact reason. I think classic competitors have a “I need to look as much like Chris as I can” mentality, so if he’s doing a vacuum, they feel they have to as well. I think Alex and Michael should drop it as you mentioned, but I do think it helps breon a lot in that ab and thigh. To me, he looks less blocky in it and the vacuum masks his lack of bilateral separation through the core. I think a big reason people don’t think breon is as aesthetic is because it looks like he has a wide waist, and I disagree. Breon might have a slightly wider waist than other competitors, but I think his main issue is that is waist is short, not wide. Look at where his waist ends in comparison to his last and rib cage. Then do the same thing with a guy like Ramon. Breon waist looks blockier because it’s shorter, and I think the vacuum helps him elongate and slim down his waist.

      the weight cap is not helping either. With such a strict range competitors will try to look as complete as possible, so they will not work on their strong points. From what I understand wesley may actually be heavier than arnold in 75. But let's be honest, arnold looked much much better. There was something kinda magic about the physique of the 70s that seems to be irreproductible today:
    -the proportions (today: bigger legs, bigger ass, smaller arms, smaller pecs, smaller calves)
    -the tone of the muscle (they are leaner today but there are less striations, the muscle is less "alive")
    -the absence of stellar bodyparts (arnold biceps, sergio arms, lou pecs...)
    I understand why there's a weight cap. They want to keep things under control and healthier but it will prevent from seeing physiques like the greats of the 70s or marvels of the 80/90 like clairmonte, 93 flex wheeler or 80s benfatto.

    Can we appreciate how Wesley is literally carving his phisique year after year. At his Olympia debut he had so many weak spots and he`s consistently fixing them one by one. I never thought this guy could build up his legs and now he has one of the biggest and most seperated quads from the front. The only thing that`s stopping him from top 6 rn is the fullnes and and conditioning on his legs from the back.

    Terrance never made sense to me how high he has been placing. Good they put him where he belongs

    The fact that Chris has accomplished so very much while suffering through serious kidney disease (IgA Nephropathy) is difficult to believe.

    Love your analysis tomen8er, BUT Urs absolutely smokes Mike in that rear double ?! Back may not be as wide, but tones more definition throughout. Legs look much bigger including that quad sweep, more pealed glutes/hammies, better calves. Mike looks so soft through the mid back to me.

    I’ve been looking for a video like this to understand bodybuilding competitions judging cause to me they all look the same, and now I understand why cbum is so hyped, he’s INSANE, no competition. Thank you!

    Biggest robberies to me were Gabe Zancanelli and Chen Kang, both of them looked better than Fabian to me but placed way lower. Both easily could have deserved to be in that callout for me.
