The fact that we never see the Helldiver with the MG die suggests that perhaps the reason we’re hearing about this story is because of that one diver who lived to tell the tale

The part that hit the hardest for me was when she was staring at the man she loves laying on the bed and it just cuts to him laying dead but in the same position. Shows the reality of how badly things can go and the only thing you are left with is memories. 😢
It's made worse when you consider how young Helldivers generally are. They canonically enlist at an average age of 18-19 and have a roughly one in five chance of surviving their first drop. They're kids, hopped up on propaganda and patriotic fervour, then thrown into a meat-grinder for the benefit of powerful people, far away who will never see anything of the horrors the Helldivers drop into.

A friend of mine was interested in Helldivers and the 2 videos I sent him were the game intro, to show the propaganda, and this to show the reality. You nailed the feel of being a Helldiver in a way I have not seen anyone else do.
@arieson7715 In all fairness, though, animated (western or eastern) shows tend to do an excellent job at showing off the theme and tone of that kind of world. The only Live action I can think of from recent times that's done justice to it's world setting is the fallout show. Edit: an example would be the animations sodaz makes and this one as well. If a show was made, it would have to have the same tone and energy as the Halo ODST live action, and not end up like literally any Halo Live action series has.

That last bit where the orbital strike lands and cuts to black on impact, ALWAYS sends a chill up my spine no matter how many times I watch it. With how it all played out, the music AND the visuals, SO damn good! I'm glad YT randomly recommended this to me, awesome work!

I just noticed, you synced the calm moments of the song with the emotional segments of the video, the decision to enlist, finding love, and the protagonist becoming a casualty, while the metal segments are played during the combat. Don't know if that was intentional but it's genius storytelling. 10/10

Re-watching this after the Secret Level of Helldivers. Honestly, this story was way better than what we got from Amazon, despite it not having anywhere close to the same length and budget. You've got a lot of talent, Roruka. The edit between the Helldiver in bed and lying dead on the battlefield was brilliant. I hope you'll make more videos like this.
I survived 2 helldive bot missions one destroy command centers the other was fabricators, I died on the 3rd mission as the 2nd to last survivor on extract citizens mission… Also yes I use the machine gun stratagem regularly.
When I'm playing with (most of) my friends, I can basically survive indefinitely. But... When I'm playing with random-no-mics-who-think-380mm-barrage-is-a-close-air-support-weapon........ Most I've done is four drops in a row.
This shot at 1:07 is carrying the whole video. Even if they're brave, otherwise completely zealous, the fact those people are seen as completely disposable is really sad. I like the exercise of taking a fictionnal world and switch the tune. Very good work !

They were the first divers to get past one mission. They thought themselves invincible until we went to the creak. Each helldivers baptism in fire it decided who was strong enough to survive.

This has a very distinct Attack On Titan type of feel, the grittiness and despair clearly evident in this scene reminded me of Erin’s group’s first engagement with the Titans inside the walls.
The part when the scene cuts to that guy laying cold on the ground really hit me in the feels. Must say, you did a really damn good job. I wish to see more sooner or later (No rush, animation, drawing, coloring, ect. takes a lot of time..)
It's kinda crazy how damn tragic a Helldivers story can be. Also that part where the shot cuts from the lover being alive to dead remi is me alot of the trauma team comic from cp2077
I understand this animation. These are all rookies going into an automata mission without knowing what to do, so they get wrecked. I always say it's best to bring an experienced Helldiver with you when you first start out fighting robots. They'll teach you the ins and outs of spilling oil and how to really handle yourself. My theory why Melevelon Creek was so bad was because it was when a fresh wave of rookies were sent to it without knowing what they were doing, like myself. So we were outgunned and not properly geared at first.
Heres a detail I think nobody actually noticed, actually reflects on the helldiver's life span, so when she got her buzz cut, she died with the same buz cut, it didn't even grow close to what she had before, hair usually takes about 6 months to grow back from my full buzz cut, which means she wasn't a helldiver for very long

He is who I try to be every mission, I almost always run machine gun, I use the default helmet, and bring the liberator assault rifle, never used any other primary other than that, I consider myself to be the ultimate cadet, I’ve decided I won’t allow myself to use another primary until I hit level 150.

Something funny happened that just felt epic for some reason,I was still a cadet,on a bot mission with higher levels,I wad getting reinforced just as the pelican left,but I stilk landed and got out the pod,there was a machine gun and I could still use stratagems,picked up the gun,dropped a 500kg and let loose till I died again

As someone who semi regually uses the MG and take on hordes of bots yes its a coin flip you die first or you blaze away in glory

I managed to live with one helldiver for a maximum of 3 landings. And that's the best case!

For me it was 20 the trick was suicidal moving from cover to cover and good use of air and positioning with team
