Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole! Listen to Pure Imagination/Christmas Time is Here mash up, Kiss from a Rose, Please Santa Please (an original)…..anything really. You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy the ride!
Isn't this amazing?!? 😮❤ You have found 5 solo quality vocalists who work together without egos to form the premiere a capella group in the world! The only a capella group to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, winner of 3 Grammy Awards and they just received their FIFTH Grammy Award nomination for their 2022 Christmas album! Well deserved! You know it's Christmas when Pentatonix fills the air! From Christmas, to Gospel, to Hip Hop, to country, to classical - whatever genre you want, Pentatonix has probably performed it usually without instruments! They've set the bar for modern a capella performances! 💖
Great reaction Duane! Pentatonix is the most amazing acapella group in the world. If you want to listen to a song where they are all featured in a solo... I suggest "Amazing Grace". You have a heck of a rabbit hole to go down. I say, ENJOY!
Thanks for the reaction to this stunning piece. It's actually a re-make of their original one they did years ago in 2013-14'-ish era. They upgraded themselves. How they began... Scott ( tall blond guy), Mitch ( guy wearing the robe) and Kirstie all lived in Arlington Texas when they were young. Scott and Mitch met at around age 10 when they both got involved with choirs and singing lessons. One of them met Kirstie a year later and they all finally became a friend group in high school. They graduated ( except Mitch who was a year younger) and moved off to college. Scott joined an acapella group in college and met Ben Bram who encouraged him to enter an upcoming TV competition show for acapella groups, The Sing -Off. Scott got Mitch and Kirstie to join him, found Avi Kaplan ( their original bass) thru Ben, but still needed a beatboxer. They finally found Kevin doing beatboxing while playing his cello on UA-cam....contacted him and he finally joined them after completing his pre-med exam at Yale. They won the Sing Off and all moved to LA to begin their careers as Pentatonix....only to have Sony cancel the contract they'd won. Undaunted, they decided to record themselves singing covers just sitting on a couch in one of their apartments. It worked and they got noticed and Someon That I Used To Know cover went viral. Sony offered them another recording contract with a smaller subsidiary, Madison House. That was the start to their journey to fame. Ben Bram is still to this day their arranger. They all have input in the arrangements...usually they decide what they want to do, make notes and video, send it off to Ben who formalizes and polishes it, then works with them while recording. There's a great 20 min mini-doc called The Recording of Evergreen, which shows their processes of working together to record an album.
I always say that it was pre-ordained. The universe arranged itself to drop three incredible kids into one town, Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch, who became friends and sang together. They added Kevin and Avi when they auditioned for the Sing Off Season 3 (2011), which they won. They found Kevin on UA-cam because his first cello-boxing video went viral at the exact moment they happened to be looking for a beatboxer. The timing was perfect because he was just finishing his Pre-Med degree at Harvard. When Avi left 6 years ago, Matt replaced him as bass for the group. Matt sang all his life, and is just enough younger than the others that he was a huge fan, and even once attended an event where PTX did a music clinic with a group of young singers - a few years later he auditioned and was selected to be in his favorite band. His talent and energy is a perfect match for the group. He is so joyful! Anyway, that is all to say that I believe it was Divine Order, because it isn't just their extraordinary talents, it's their temperaments, diversity, kindness, lack of ego, work ethic like you wouldn't believe, and commitment to excellence.
Pentatonix a "brief" background. They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that. The founding members are:- Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead);
Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”. Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease); Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese). Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on UA-cam, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings. Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma. While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition. They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his UA-cam videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing". Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours! They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on UA-cam), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building. But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records. Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on UA-cam, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live. Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers. But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label. They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys. Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry. Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group. If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently. It is an often debated subject among the Pentaholics as to just how soon we introduce the "Beginners Guide" as we don't want to overdo the introduction. This is a compilation of snips of a whole load of songs which PTX have released. It highlights each member with some of their solos and then a brief history in video. It is quite long - 14+ minutes and is a little dated now (Feb 2020) but is a good watch ua-cam.com/video/lDxIfwfCmQE/v-deo.html&pp=ygUdYmVnaW5uZXJzIGd1aWRlIHRvIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D. After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre. Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/ Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work. Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place. They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Another nomination for Holidays Around the World album in the 2024 list! Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. No dates YET! They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star! They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23. Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!! 1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to. 2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album. 3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.
The Beginners Guide to Pentatonix is a great video to watch if you want their background. There are some spoilers but is well worth your time. Thank you. This Pentaholic welcomes you to the Pentafamily. Merry Christmas!
In interviews Scott, the tall blonde tends to speak up more, but vocally there isn’t a lead singer. They are all exceptionally talented and such good team players. Sometimes one of them leads a particular song, but it trades off and then there are songs like this where they all shine!
My second favorite thing to listening to Pentatonix is watching people react to Pentatonix! I have an entire O Holy Night playlist, but for some reason Pentatonix wasn’t on it until today. And now I’m watching other people hear it for the first time, so I can relive my awe and wonder. This is my favorite Christmas song, and now Pentatonix has my favorite version.
Loved that reaction man! That was some power in that song....Scott(blonde) Mitch (in robe) and Kirstie all went to middle and high school together. Scott wanted to be on the Sing Off (yes they won) and got Mitch and Kirstie back together, found their original bass (Avi Kaplan) through a friend saw Kevin (Beat boxer and all around freak of musical nature) online, got together for 1st time day before show and have been crushing it ever since.
This has to be the best version of this song EVER!!!!! There is a Beginners Guide to Pentatonix on You Tube. Scott, Mitch and Kirstin met when they were in middle and HS in Arlington Tx. The guide is great to learn about them. Got together to go on The Sing Off, which they won. They have never looked back. They have won Grammy's. 3, I think. There has been 1 member change. Avi left in 2017. That is when Matt joined. Anything you pick is great. They are amazing in concert. Known for Christmas music, originals and covers. They are an amazing group of talent!
YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO THEIR VERSION OF THE PRAYER NEXT TO REALLY GET A FEEL OF JUST HOW GOOD THIS GROUP IS, YOU WILL BE REALLY PLEASED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE AAA
Like Angels welcoming everyone to their flock. Loved your reaction. We are here to enjoy your reactions to PTX. They have a Beginner’s Guide to PTX that is about 15 minutes long. ( Pentaholics have long attention spans in general due to their magnificence) It has a lot of clips. Even if you don’t react to it, worth a look see. Once you have reacted to more they have about 15 minute BTS called The Recording of Evergreen. They truly collaborate many of the arrangements and choose who will be the singing which lines based on what is best for the song. The best part is when they shine the others are truly supportive and backup perfectly. When Matt the bass has a lot of lyrics Scott can cover base. They sometimes add a cello or Lindsey Stirling with a violin, but if they use instruments you see them. They all have amazing vocal range well over most singers ranges, including Mitch can do 6 octaves and 1 note. ( at least that is what I have seen and heard) For more softer songs: Hallelujah, The Prayer, Amazing Grace, Dancing On My Own, Imagine ( a must do and do the original video ❤ ), I Just Called to Say I love You, Perfect, Shallow For varied covers l: Can’t Hold Us( by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis) , Havana, New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Butter x Dynamite, Daft Punk (won a Grammy) . Bohemian Rhapsody, Gold Originals: Pop Spring 2016. 3 originals including Water and Can’t Sleep Love and the Evolution of Michael Jackson, Love Again(EDM vibe) Happy Now, Be My Eyes, Please Santa Please, Run to You, Starship. Fun and Quirky: Making Christmas, Favorite Things, Gangnam Style and Thrift Shop, Papaoutai, Perfume Medley, Their catalog of songs is large and I have honestly loved them all. You will get so many suggestions and anything you react to is amazing. Maybe Saft Punk or Can’t Hold Us to see their variety. They always have a twist, and they. They never disappoint. ❤
Kirstin is known for her powerful belting. I think she's one of the (if not THE) most powerful female vocalists working today. And the last few moments of this video certainly demonstrated it! Another one where she does some amazing belting is The Prayer - she doesn't have a lot of time where she's featured, but she is very powerful and really high to be using the belting technique - it's really obvious when it happens.
I love them. Mitch is a Unicorn or Alien. They each take turns who solos while giving each member to be up front and center. I love and respect them for that. They know their voices. So they themselves and a producer named Ben (I'm pretty sure that's his name) help arrange the song by bouncing ideas of each other. It's not just one person. I love that. Saw them live once, and going to a show for their Christmas tour. I'm so excited.
With well over 200 songs in their library, you will be busy, lol All of their songs are amazing, you will hear all of them shine. They all have incredible ranges. They do upgrades (not covers), originals, happy fun songs, theatrical, emotional, Christian songs, and awesome medleys. Hang on to your seat if you're going down the Pentatonix rabbit hole!
Super reaction. They have no lead singer. Scott often starts and sing major part because most song are written for the baritone voice. They decode togethar with their arranger who sings what parts in each song.Even Kevin their beatboxer has a beautiful tenor voice. Thye leave their egos at the door/ They are also nice down-to earth people who connuicate wtheir fans and involve them in their show when on tour. They usually perform oversea once a year, followed by a Summer They alwys are on tour btween Thansgiving and Christmas. They are famosu for their music. They just dont sing badly/ They also don 's record anything on video or on cds that they can't sing liv! I/ve never seen a group that just shines everytime they sing like Pentatonix and I'm in my 70'S.They have a huge catalog. Enjoy the journey.
Scott, Mitch and Kirstin have known eachother since childhood. Then they acquired Kevin and their first bass Avi and went on the Sing Off competition and won. Then Avi left I believe it was 2017 and Matt came aboard as their new bass. They have won 3 grammys and name on Hollywood walk of fame.
One little fun fact to add to your 100% correct comment: When the Scott, Mitch and Kirstin thought about entering The Sing-Off, they knew they needed a bass and percussion, or they wouldn’t stand a chance, especially against the bigger groups. They found Avi in their local area, I believe, but the way they found Kevin was quite different. Scott discovered him on UA-cam, beatboxing while playing the cello. They actually met in person just THE DAY BEFORE the audition for The Sing-Off to prep. Absolutely amazing. Pentatonix was meant to be.
Hey Duane....welcome to pentatonix! Boy are you in for a journey. My suggestion its the christmas season explore their offereings and I know lots of people will be helping you with that. Beyond that you can't miss and the petaholics guide through their "evolution" I'm sure. You will not be dissapointed.
They met in high school and added Ari to have a base, and Kevin wanted to include beat boxing. Then they won a vocal competition for accapella singing. We are so blessed to have them.
Welcome to PTX!! The Pentaholics will find your channel, and it will GROW. Kevin (Beatboxer) has an arrangement of "O Come All Ye Faithfull" that makes you forget the original. There is a "Beginner's Guide to PTX" and an update to include Matt (Base), who replaced Avi Kaplan in 2017. That is the ONLY member change. Kirstie (rhymes with Thirsty) and Mitch (Counter-Tenor) do change their look often. Scott (blonde) hates labels, so no official leader. Scott is Type A personality and the engine of the group. He also created Citizen Queen, an all female accapella group. Each member also has their own side projects, but Pentatonix comes first. Kirstin was in "Kinky Boots" as mentioned in their version of "Can't Hold Us" that show their rap style. Mitch has a line about "Texas raised you" because the Trio grew up in Arlington, Texas. Kevin's scenes are in a church, and Avi's are outdoor in nature. They are not religious only, but they will take you to Church with "Amazing Grace-- My Chains Are Gone" and "Mary, Did You Know?" and "The Prayer" but their 90's Dance Medley will showcase their talents. Pop music and their "Evolution of.... " series includes Music, Michael Jackson, Beyonce and Ariana Grande. Scott has to keep busy or he goes crazy. The Pandemic forced them isolated and at home, but they still put out an album after Scott learned the editing process and each recorded themselves at home on their iPhones. Scott wrote songs and worked on his own individual creations. Mitch finally worked on his own alternative music released under Messer. Kevin has a podcast with his brother. He is very religious and observes the Sabbath, so PTX never performs or expects him at any event. They respect each other and are good friends. They just completed a world tour last fall starting in Singapore, then Tokyo and Asia. A break then UK and Europe. A break (went to Nashville to write songs) a few summer birthdays and a wedding then tour USA. Nov/Dec is Christmas tour with 7 holiday albums and an NBC Christmas special. They own Christmas. Pentaholics will tell you everything, but Alan-Freeman comments will give you details about the group. Enjoy this very large rabbit hole.
If you want something with a similar vibe to this one try Amazing Grace. Watch The Beginners Guide to Pentatonix video to learn all about them. We Pentaholics (their fans) love them and love watching others discover them. I am subbing in the hopes of watching you go down the very deep rabbit hole of Pentatonix.
I'm sure many people will have told you about the one member change over the years; Avi leaving the group for personal reasons and Matt joining afterwards. One of my favorites is 'O Come All Ye Faithful'. It's an older one with the original bass singer, Avi, but it's amazing & you'll be floored - guarantee you will not be ready for that one lol.
You are in for one heck of a ride! Here's a couple in completely different styles to get you started. Rap: Can't Hold Us. Christian: The Prayer, Hallelujah, How Great Thou Art. Classic Rock: Bohemian Rhapsody. MJ: The Evolution of Michael Jackson. Pop: Royals, Cheerleader, Be My Eyes. Christmas: Little Drummer Boy, Mary Did You Know. Soft Rock: Imagine, Sound of Silence. Latin Flair: Havana. Scott Hoying solo: ua-cam.com/video/9CAF2Pg9Cgg/v-deo.htmlsi=9_frxYYn1Ylzm1sa That's enough for now. 😅 Have a blessed holiday
It’s a bit of both actually, in many of their songs there’s no clear “lead singer” with all of them getting equal time singing the lead, but there are also quite a few songs where they do have one member singing lead through the whole thing.
they won the siingoff in 2013. The middle three Scott, Mitch, and Kertsti all went to school together. Kevin joeind after Avi the bass left, Matt came in when Avi left. Scott is bass-baritone low tenor, Matt is betonor high tenor, Kerstin is beautifu soprano. Kenin is betboxer and wonderful voice>
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole! Suggestions for begining the journey: Hallelujah, Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fary, Evolution of Michael Jackson and the anything from their Christmas stuff. Enjoy!
You should do a reaction to PTXs cover of Mary Did You Know. Also their cover of The Prayer. Kevin, the beat boxer, really brings The Prayer alive for me.
As to your question about how they got started, I'm gonna tell you what I know. Scott, Mitch and Kirsten grew up together in Texas and have been singing together since they were kids. Middle School and High School however is when the flames really started to be fanned in local plays and school choirs. After High School, off to separate colleges they went, with a reunion soon to follow that led to being on the Sing-Off on TV. At that point they had acquired a phenomenal bass singer by the name of Avi Kaplan who has since left the group about 7 years ago and was replaced by Matt Salle. Backing up a little bit. In order to have a chance at winning the Sing-Off, they desperately needed a beatboxer, and they were clueless as to where to find one. (Gonna try to wrap this up here.) Someone had the idea of doing a search on UA-cam, and when they did, Kevin Olusola popped up on the screen beatboxing and playing the cello simultaneously. Mind you, Kevin was just finishing his last semester as a pre-med student at YALE and was slotted to enroll in Yale's Medical School the upcoming semester. (Yeah, you read that right. He's literally a genius.) Anywho, Kevin promised to get back with them after his upcoming final exams. Long story short, he got back with them as promised and they flew him to California immediately. Long story short, they won the sing-off, and the rest is musical history. They have won three Grammys since that time and they have been nominated this year for their 4th and 5th one. If any other Pentaholics out there have anything to add or if I got something a little twisted, please jump in and save the day. Peace.
As part of PTX's Christmas concerts they live-streamed a part called Kevins' Fifth. The beginning explains their start. ua-cam.com/video/DbCasvcNx78/v-deo.htmlsi=hoYRGBj4cWgxDFcb
❤ yes to this. You will discover that they all are insanely talented and have no egos. Yes there is a story Mitch, Kirstie and Scott grew up together and have sang together and are best friends all their life. Kevin the beat boxer is so talented it’s mind blowing He joined 12 years ago and Matt’s is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and replaced Avi 7 years ago. Avi had to leave for family illness. That’s the only change , Kirstie and Mitch change their looks often but it’s always them
All members musically trained - all have input to the music -Please watch Pentatonix The Recording of Evergreen - it will give you in site to their process- Thanks for the review
Hi Frank, I couldn't underline either. I accidently discovered if you put an asterisk before and after a word, title, or phrase your will see your letters in bold type. Example: *I typed an asterisk right before typing I and after typing here* The pair of asterisks disappeared and that section is in bold. It doesn't happen until you hit Reply. At the end of this sentence is just one asterisk that remained because I didn't type a second. * Just wanted you to see which symbol was an asterisk. If you need to edit, the asterisks in pairs will appear and bold type disappears. All you have to do is hit Save and bold type will return. Hope this helps. It's good for writing song titles or videos, such as *Recording of Evergreen.*
The UA-cam video BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO PENTATONIX is a nice little history of the group. It's a bit out of date. For instance, it doesn't cover their recent Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But it's still good.
Penta. Means 5. As in pentagon is a five sided building. Pentatonic is a five note scale. They consider themselves a band and no leader. They work out arrangements together
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole! Listen to Pure Imagination/Christmas Time is Here mash up, Kiss from a Rose, Please Santa Please (an original)…..anything really. You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy the ride!
Yessss!!!!!!!
Isn't this amazing?!? 😮❤
You have found 5 solo quality vocalists who work together without egos to form the premiere a capella group in the world! The only a capella group to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, winner of 3 Grammy Awards and they just received their FIFTH Grammy Award nomination for their 2022 Christmas album! Ditto all you said! Thank you I don’t have to type it all❤. PTX is truly awesome.

Their version of The Prayer is absolutely stunning! If you liked O Holy Night, you're going to love that one!

Anything they do is an upgrade. Hallelujah, Kiss from a Rose, The Prayer, Daft Punk and Bohemian Rhapsody are always crowd grabbers.
Pentatonix a "brief" background.
They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that.
The founding members are:-
Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead);
Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease);
Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and
Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese).
A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/
Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work.
What she said 💗
Wow! Thanks so much for this very detailed background story 👏
( at least that is what I have seen and heard)
For more softer songs: Hallelujah, The Prayer, Amazing Grace, Dancing On My Own, Imagine ( a must do and do the original video ❤ ), I Just Called to Say I love You, Perfect, Shallow
For varied covers l: Can’t Hold Us( by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis) , Havana, New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Butter x Dynamite, Daft Punk (won a Grammy)
. Bohemian Rhapsody, Gold
Originals: Pop Spring 2016. 3 originals including Water and Can’t Sleep Love and the Evolution of Michael Jackson, Love Again(EDM vibe) Happy Now, Be My Eyes, Please Santa Please, Run to You, Starship.
Fun and Quirky: Making Christmas, Favorite Things, Gangnam Style and Thrift Shop, Papaoutai, Perfume Medley,
Their catalog of songs is large and I have honestly loved them all.
Love your reaction, applaud well deserved “You must view “Kiss from a Rose” grandma approved!
One little fun fact to add to your 100% correct comment:
When the Scott, Mitch and Kirstin thought about entering The Sing-Off, they knew they needed a bass and percussion, or they wouldn’t stand a chance, especially against the bigger groups.
This is so stunning and emotional!! Thanks for reacting to it! Merry Christmas!!
"Amazing Grace" "Are You That Somebody" "Can't Hold Us" "Sound of Silence" "Bohemian Rhapsody" "Shallow" "Be My Eyes" (Original)
Thank you for the great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. They are amazing.
The Prayer ❤they dropped that one last Christmas 🎄
Hey Duane....welcome to pentatonix! Boy are you in for a journey. My suggestion its the christmas season explore their offereings and I know lots of people will be helping you with that.
Beyond that you can't miss and the petaholics guide through their "evolution" I'm sure. You will not be dissapointed.
The Prayer, Precious Lord just to name 2.
They met in high school and added Ari to have a base, and Kevin wanted to include beat boxing. Then they won a vocal competition for accapella singing. We are so blessed to have them.
PTX! I have been listening to the reactions to this new cover for about 3 hrs. PTX has been touched by the angels!
This will be the best rabbit hole you will ever go down period😊
Mitch is wearing a choir rob. Not a bath rob.😂 You're sweet.
Start a Pentatonix Playlist!! The fans, called Pentaholics, will love you for it!!! 😅
You need to do Amazing Grace. They all kill it even KO(beatboxer)
Thank you for your excellent reaction to this magnificent band! ❤
Clearly subbing for more PTX. Youre gonna have a lot of fun and I'm here for it! ❤
Had to share this one. chills on her voice at the end frfr
Oh, goodie! A new Pentaholic!
Great reaction! I’ve seen them live and they sound just as good!
Scott Hoying solo: ua-cam.com/video/9CAF2Pg9Cgg/v-deo.htmlsi=9_frxYYn1Ylzm1sa
That's enough for now. 😅
Have a blessed holiday
Welcome to PTX! It’s worth the ride
Enjoy!
My ALL TIME favourite group
Start with the beginning with Halleuiah.
You should do a reaction to PTXs cover of Mary Did You Know. Also their cover of The Prayer. Kevin, the beat boxer, really brings The Prayer alive for me.
Best reaction.. you felt the Prescence of Jesus
Absolutely stunning ❤
♥ Merry Christmas!!
Your reaction was amazing. They're amazing.!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
🙌🙌🙌🙏❤️
Beginners guide to Pentatonix
These is no technical “leader” but…. it’s Scott. Scott is the leader.
Fantastic 💯
That’s the only change , Kirstie and Mitch change their looks often but it’s always them
Mary did u know is a PTX must my fav. Perfect 4 Jesus is the reason 4 the season...🎵💗🕊
PTX is one!
Gold, Water, Amazing Grace , !ad World, Daf Punk, Pop Spring perfor!ance, Sugar Plum Fairy, Halleluia Sing....well, just about anything.😆
That is Mad World
And Kiss of a Rose
Wow Matt, Scott Kirsten

The UA-cam video BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO PENTATONIX is a nice little history of the group. It's a bit out of date. For instance, it doesn't cover their recent Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But it's still good.
Penta. Means 5. As in pentagon is a five sided building. Pentatonic is a five note scale. They consider themselves a band and no leader. They work out arrangements together
Recommend their BTS video of “Pentatonix - The Recording Of Evergreen”. However, due to spoilers, you should react to The Prayer first.
Watch " Making Evergreen" to see how they work together
Scott came up with the idea of the group.. for the show sing off
Plz react to oh come all ye faithful by ptx. New pentaholic sub from Tennessee. Merry Christmas
Mitch is wearing a satin cigarette Jacket not A Robe
Right, it just looks like a robe. lol
High school friends
