Yes! As the majority have suggested, we need your reaction to Oh Holy Night. I’ve probably listened to it at least 50 times and it still gives me tingling chills. Matt and Kirstie knock it out of the park!!!!
@@lesismor54 I am excited to watch this one also. I have to agree, the chills hit me every time and like you, I listen to it, including reactions, at least 10 times a week. The arranging is so carefree that it is unlike any other that I have heard. *** "This is what I want my ear to hear.... to hell with rules!" ***
I would really love to see you react to their video The Recording of Evergreen. It's a 20-minute video of them recording some of the songs from their album Evergreen. It is really amazing to see their process.
I was at a live concert with Pentatonix last Christmas and they preformed this. Yes there are multiple looping tracks used but the timing and blend of voices was done live and was astounding. The added instrumental parts only added to the overall presentation. If you get an opportunity to see them live grab it. Well worth the time and money.
I finally got to see Pentatonix in concert last Christmas and I remember being so disappointed that they were using a backing track on "Please Santa Please". When they finished and the backing kept going to mark out the concert just left a bad taste in my mouth. I too like to see who is singing when. They have so many amazing arrangements and while their video editing is cool (and mostly they're lip syncing) I really want to see who is covering which part. They are amazing at it and it's one thing that their videos tend to hide. Usually Pentatonix live the weak point is the relative microphone volumes. I've seen some live TV events that were destroyed because you couldn't hear all five at the right level. At the Kansas City concert December 2023 the sound board operators were not their friend. One of the reasons I look at these reaction videos is to try to learn WHY these arrangements are so great. Sir Hairless is amazing at being able to pick out all the parts. He's great at telling us about the notes and chords. I wish I knew why the arrangements worked so well, though.
So Kevin is using a loop pedal to do the high arpeggio on the cello....just before his cello solo you see him hit the pedal to change the sound on his cello. This is a great version of this song. He must have pre-recorded that on the loop. You saw him do that in his solo work so he is well acquainted with using it.
He was also in this video doing live mixing through the other 5 pedals on his board during this performance as it was one of the stipulations from Vevo to show what their new studio could do.
Don't be scared, they are for sure using some effects/mixing and added stuff. Especially in recent years they seem to have stopped trying to be as purist or "open" with always showing what instrument is used etc. They have for quite a while said they are a popband using their voices as instruments and I feel like they are generally less afraid of leaning in to the pop-part of it all. They have proved themselves and both Scott and Kevin are really in to producing right now. Mitch has always been very in to electronic music etc. So I honestly feel like they are just playing around more lately, which I'm all for. Gotta keep things creatively interesting for them. Honestly, this song in particular I feel like they just wanted to flex and have fun. They threw all their different skills in to this one, basically. Riffing and highlighting Kevins things and showing Matts solo voice etc.
In my opinion, Matt’s best solo is in O Holy Night. He is stunning. Oh - and Kevin has a pedal. My guess is that all the sounds are him, but perhaps overlapped with the pedal.
You beat me to it! Yes, we can see the pedal(s) down by his foot (I can't quite tell, but I'm thinking there's more than one and he's "playing" them at the appropriate times. I wouldn't question that any percussive or instrumental sounds we hear are Kevin. He goes beyond "mere" beatboxing into the realm of the nearly supernatural in his ability to create sounds that don't seem humanly possible. I think I have to disagree on the subject of Mitch vs. Seal in the first section. There's a lot to be said for the grittier quality of Seal's voice and the little "break" as he transitions from chest voice to head voice, but I'm equally, if not even more admiring, of the way just heads on up to the higher notes so smoothly, as if it's the easiest thing in the world. I also don't think it's any accident that the beginning section goes to Mitch, with his phenomenal sense of pitch. It's another instance of him making something sound effortless that's actually a minefield of potential missed notes. I also love the R & B vibe Matt brings to his solo part and the almost double-bass quality he brings to his percussion. Not in any way to slight rocker Scott or queen of harmonies Kirstie.
Happy, Happy, Happy that you reacted to this one. I love it! With Christmas around the corner, you need to react to their O, Holy Night. Amazing. For me, I hear so much growth...each of them shine in O, Holy Night. Goosebumps.
When I say I have been WAITINGGGG for you to get to this for ONE YEAR!! I couldn't have clicked faster. I am grinning ear to ear. Thank you. Yes there is some looping and added sounds. GREAT nonetheless. Holy Night, Hallelujah (official video and the latest live version on their channel) are the ones I am now WAITINNGGGGG for :D Love yah!
You will absolutely love their most recent live version of Bohemian Rhapsody. They are in a V shape and just straight-up singing. You can see every note sung. A pure acapella masterpiece.
You are spoiling me for other reviewers. I love how you identify all the parts, the dissonance, the resolutions, the unseen instruments, the expected cadence, and how the performance differs. Plus, YOU CAN SING! I learn so much watching your reviews, and I can 100% relate to your reactions. What a treat! So glad you are doing this!!
Funny that you said it was “questionable” as a Christmas song because there is a TikTok of Scott googling songs for them to add to their Xmas album and picking this one because it had “snow” in the lyrics 😂 I do know there’s some sort of looping going on, and it makes me wish there was just a separate camera on Kevin the whole time because I’d be fascinated to see what all he did with his feet haha
Haha yeah I remember reading comments saying that last year when this came out ❄ That's why I've released it as my last PTX video before the Christmas season begins
Looping, production, electronic wizardry, mixing genius - I really don’t know what it entails, but it sounds fantastic! I’m afraid some will comment on their defection from pure a cappella, but I’m not one of them. Whatever it takes for them as they grow and progress is okay in my book. Loved your reaction and analysis, as always! Peace …
In a certain way, I can understand why some people wouldn't be a fan of their departure from purist a capella just because of how far they pushed and redefined the medium. I also, though, can see that as much as they've done, they were naturally going to reach a level of "stagnation" where they've sort of done pretty much all they can in a purist vein and if they're going to continue as artists, they're going to have a need to explore other things. So I feel like you just kind of have to understand that these are artists that have decided to expand on the art they create and learn to roll with an appreciate that. They are still doing marvelous work in pushing forward the artistry of vocal performance, they're just doing it in a different way now.
FINALLY!!!!! I have been waiting for you to get to this amazing song. Pure brilliance. Also for you to appreciate Matt. I loved Avi but Matt has filled his shoes with an amazing voice. For a fun listen - go to him taking the lead on "You're a mean one Mr Grinch" - excellent vocals and really funny. I saw them live in London this year and they did not disappoint!
At this point they are a vocal group that often performs a capella. They are definitely more relaxed about the methods they use to fill out their sound. I like their expanded tool set to reinvent amazing original songs like this one.
Exactly this! Even though they, as a group, have propelled a capella to a new era. They even had side projects to push a capella to the forefront with a capella academy Avi & Ben Bram started and the Acapop kids group Scott produced. But I don't think they see themselves as a capella, moreso a vocal group that does a capella.
Finally! I've been waiting for you to react to this one-and to "O, Holy Night"-almost since you first started covering Pentatonix. I haven't even watched it yet, but I couldn't wait to say thanks!
It was a live recording, but then post production so its this fun hybrid. Kevin had some of his beatboxing percussion and the high cello parts (and some other string lines) "pre recorded" using the loop pedals on the ground you can see in some shots (and of course the pedal to change to the "electric" guitar sound in the later portion) Such a fun cover!
This is one of my favorite Pentatonix covers, for sure! Thanks for a high quality analysis, as always. I learn so much from your analyses, and you point out things I never would have noticed my self. It enhances my appreciation for the music.
You have quickly become my absolute favorite reviewer. I've been singing for decades, mostly smalls groups and choral, and I really appreciate the fact that you enjoy the artistry as much as technical skill. As well, though I've been singing for years I can't read music: I can sight read a bit. You throw in just the right amount of theory and make it accessible and relatively easy to understand. Thanks, so much, for sharing your knowledge.❤
Oh man great reaction. I love how you point out so many "new" things for me. I think that with instrumental music, we don't really question the added "production" that we often hear, but for some reason, we seem to hold acapella to a slightly different standard. I also think that no matter how talented an acapella band is, in order to be truly competitive with other types of bands on the music scene, we should expect similar "treatment" to their recordings.
Yes, I understand what you mean by “gritty.”…. I love it, and I agree with you that you might find it a bit baffling because it's pretty much perfect. That said, it's always a ride when you watch them because they are amazing. ❤R/A🎼
Yeessssss! So happy you reacted to this. “That guy is an asset to the group…” lol… oh my goodness. You could not be more right. But really, they work so well together, so talented. Thank you SH. It was fun. 🤗
Pentatonix went in so hard, they came out shining like diamonds. The last shot of them posing like "Ya, we did that, so what?" was just icing on the cake.
Another one I've been waiting for. Lol it's a great job and I love how you can see Kirsty and Mitch adjust their earpieces when scott entered the fray with loud Baby! Just in case it's doubted it was live! Ptx still and always will be favorite ptx group. Ok, you know it is as coming ..Eva Cassidy !! ❤
Well Sir, thanks for the early Christmas gift. Wishing you and yours all the blessings and peace of this holiday season. With appreciation and affection. A fan.
I love penatonix, what I love more is your reactions to them. I’ve watch hundreds of pentatonix reactions but always come back to your channel. You have a genuine appreciation for their sound and music. Please keep doing what your doing love your channel 😍❤️
4:30 in the morning. Just have to listen. We will never hate you. Yes I think it was "treated". During their live performances you can hear that Kevin is seriously taking singing lessons. As a matter of fact they all do. They bring us so much joy with this one. Apparently Scott was looking for another Xmas song, saw the word "snow" and -he said this during a show- that was good enough for him. Saw live performances of this and it still sounds amazing. Thank you again for your analysis. Greetings and love from South Africa
I swear, I think I said the same thing last year… But in case I didn’t… I love watching your videos because of the fact that you tell us what to forward to if we don’t want to hear the analysis. It actually makes me want to listen to the analysis. I really enjoy listening to you break it down and I don’t do that with other Pentatonix reactors. Love it! Thanks for this reaction. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
This is an absolute favorite of mine, thank you for reacting! I am so excited for you to get into the Christmas season. I really hope you have a lot of PTX planned. I would love for you to react to their newest Oh Holy Night, it left me speechless and a little teary eyed. Also a fun idea would be to react to their original Hallelujah video which has a crazy amount of views and then react to their newest version with Matt that they released a couple of months ago. Would also love your reaction to their Pure Imagination/Christmas Time is Here mashup. Who am I kidding I want it all! I was lucky enough to see their first concert of this years Christmas tour a few weeks ago and it was of course amazing. Nobody does Christmas like PTX!
Have no fear. These guys actually make these exact sounds live. Some amazingly tasteful production in the soundstage creation and expanders, but this is them.
Thank you friend! As always, you answer many of my questions as an A Cappella singer myself (albeit mostly barbershop harmony). Blessings from Louisiana!!
Kevin is very good with using the loop pedal. He has some awesome work showing his talents on his solo channel. And it definitely looks like he is using them in this performance. Love your reactions! ❤
I’m finding your befuddlement absolutely endearing ❤❤ and funny 😆 I’m not a music person, and I appreciate all the explanations you give on videos. And sometimes - SOMETIMES - I can pick out individual voices, thanks to your guidance 😘😘
Gaaaahhh! I came here so fast when I saw you reviewed this song. I was obsessed with this last Christmas. I'm already a huge fan of this song, and what they did with this was amazeballs. I am also super excited for you to get to their Christmastime is Here/Pure Imagination mash up. Hope it's this year, but if not, it'll give me something to look forward to next year, while I listen to it on repeat.
😃👉I believe Kevin has pre-recorded goodies on his petal bar because he does use them on his solo projects. They are just vocally AMAZING.... EVERYONE of them!!! PENTATONIX is definitely a SUPER GROUP Scott showing SO MUCH RANGE and yet there is still more you haven't seen from him. Kirstie's PERFECT vibrato. I have a natural vibrato in my singing voice as well but its not Kirstie perfect 😅 Matt showing off his EXCELLENT soulful side and singing range I love Mitch's lower vocals and tamber. Kevin took us to THE MOON on his solo part!!! I agree you must do O Holy Night next 👏👏I always look forward to your PTX reactions
One of my favourite originals by them. It feels like a superfruit (Scott & Mitch's group) song featuring the rest of PTX, with the video set and vocals but They all are amazing with this track.
I believe all percussion sounds are in fact Kevin, but he does have a looping pedal/pre-recorded parts on this one in addition to his live percussion. Nothing added post. It is live though! You can also see Mitch & Kirsti adjusting the volume of their inner ears at different times. BTW you’ve GOT to react to Mitch’s solo cover of Billie Elish’s Your Power!!
VEVO has a special acoustic room. The mixing is supposed to be vey good. The cello also sometimes recreates the bass sounds. Kevin also appears to be "plucking" the strings in some areas. Hopefully you can figure it out and let us know as we look to you to fill in the blanks. Kevin does also use a pedal loop, there is a point where he touches the foot pedal. This can be seen in his version of Down. There is a version of them performing it on tour.
This was recorded in the VEVO studios live. That's what we've been told. Kevin does have a gadget in a box that he used on his solo. I don't know what it is or what it does. I have heard some of their live on stage version of this & it sounds the same to me. I, as always, defer to your expertise, because I know squat. Hope this helps. 💚💚💚
Yay! You finally did my favorite by my favorite! 😁 I don’t know enough about post production and sound engineering to weigh in on that matter, but I do know from watching his solo work that Kevin is a master at multitracking and layering. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that all the parts we hear were produced during the recording and the refinement post-production puts a layer of polish on the gem that is Pentatonix! And how about that cello solo?!? Love love love…
Thanks for the suggestion! Don't think I'll have capacity to do that this year (but don't worry, I've got a handful of other PTX fan-favourites planned 🎄)
@@SirHairless Perhaps you might be open to sharing which ones you have in mind and entertain a vote for which might be "postponed" to allow for Pure Imagination/Christmas Time Is Here? Just a thought.🤔
@@elJae-btw The ones I'm doing are a mixture of the most-requested ones/poll winners (I do polls over on my Patreon - the ongoing poll is a Pentatonix Christmas one actually🎄)/my choice
@@SirHairless I'd suggest you watch the live Vevo recording of Christmas Time( done on the same day as this one ) as you get to see and hear more of which member of the group is singing which part , and then watch the official video as they swap parts around in the live recording . To see a fully acapella performance where you absolutely see and hear each individual , their recent recording of ' Bohemian Rhapsody ' is pretty special ,and they go 'old school acapella ' and gather around one microphone to sing 'My Heart With You' in fan recordings from their current Christmas tour.
Don't be scared, its ok, you are very accurate with your analysis, thoughts and opinion musically with PTX, don't be afraid to express yourself with your honest opinion. Its logical only to hear them in this one they are using more effects and looping sounds and i think its ok, st this point they don't need to prove anything anymore, they are masters in Acapella. 🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🔥
Great song, great cover and great artists! At first I found the bridge before the outro a bit busy but I've come to really enjoy it. I think I had the same response as you when Kevin hit that high note. 🤯 Outstanding! I hope you can react to their mashup of Pure Imagination and Christmastime Is Here. The live versions are good but the official video is as much a visual feast as PTX is an audible one and Momma Maldonado is so glamourous that you can actually be distracted from her singing! My opinion anyway. Seasons Greetings from Vancouver Canada.
Cheers to you over in Vancouver! 🇨🇦 Someone else commented about Pure Imagination / Christmas time 😅 As I replied to them (will copy here for ease): >>> unfortunately I don't think I'll have capacity to do that this year (but don't worry, I've got a handful of other PTX fan-favourites 🎄)
🧞 Sir .. Sir .. Sir .. you made us wait. 🐼 I have been waiting for this reaction for a long time. I "soar" ( = saw .. he he he ) your image with this amazing cover and knew it would be excellent !! They are a magical group, even if parts were added after the performance. Mitch is a serious talent !! You and I "soar" five exceptional singers in one exceptional moment ! This reaction and 1 other have been high on my list "Man Of Constant Sorrow" ... covered by Home Free 🎶🎶🎶🎳🎶🎶🎶
Again, I highly recommend you give Kevin's "Renegade" a listen. It's terrific. For Christmas, Voctave's "Mary, Did You Know?" is a stunner. My favorite rendition. A comparison with Mark Lowry (lyricist) and Buddy Greene"s (composer) simpler, but still beautiful version of "Mary" would be interesting, and for something different, highlights Buddy on the harmonica. Every version of "Mary" is moving.
@sirhairless, this is the first video from you....amazing reaction with a lot of depth analysis. Love it. Will binge your videos now starting with dimash
As always you bring new insights ❤ I am so looking forward to your PTX Christmas reactions. I think you would have immense fun with their 12 days of Christmas 😊
Please do Pentatonix O Holy Night. Or have you and I missed it .the best I have ever heard. And Mitch on this is spectacular! Lots of awesome parts here. Kevin -WOW WOW WOW
I can't wait for him to see Oh Holy Night. It is one of my top 3 PTX songs and I've probably listened to it 100x and cry every time. It's so incredibly moving. I want to see Sir Hairless tear up.
I’ve watched them do this live. As they do in the studio recordings, they pre-record and mix some of the percussion and looping for certain pieces. Holding them to a “only what you can do live” criteria isn’t realistic for every song. Kevin has something at his feet he uses when he needs extra percussion or backing when he’s playing the cello. Check out them doing this live in concert from the channel PTXlive in 2023. You can hear them all sing a little bit clearer. This is so much fun to watch the first time. Kevin’s part is so unexpected. 🎉 Thanks for showcasing it.
Hello from Texas! Kevin trips me up sometimes too. His beatboxing skills are unheard of for me. I never really heard a lot of beatboxing until I started listening to Pentatonix. My daughter is obsessed with the beatboxing and tries to mimic it. For her birthday I ordered a Cameo from Kevin and asked him to tell her happy birthday and beatbox for her, and even in that raw video it sounded so incredible. That was two years ago, and she still watches that video. Of course, I've also taken her to see them in concert twice, one was a regular concert and the other their Christmas concert. They sound so incredible live. It's really just mind bending. I'm middle aged and I've never heard music like theirs, it's truly so enjoyable. I have watched all your Pentatonix reactions, and I really enjoy your analysis and breakdown. I am so jealous of people that are musically gifted like you and can just hear the notes their singing and understand it so effortlessly. Thank you for your content.
Yes, Pentatonix has been using more mixing, post production and added stuff than they have in the past. They have had a very difficult contract with SME and demanding touring schedule so I am hoping that they are trying to break away from that and do more of their own production and enjoy their own creative expression rather than burn out from imposed expectations.
Oh, I hope you react to their O Holy Night that was released about a year ago as well as Pure Imagination/Christmastime is Here!!! I hope you get the chance to see them live someday. I just saw them on the 11/16 and they are so good live. Cannot wait to see them again this summer.
@@lurchernut7 There was no extended reaction for this one, but there will be some coming for PTX this month And you can also find my previous extended/unblocked reactions on there
@@bethphillips9693 I have watched so many different reaction videos for this masterpiece, mostly to see their expressions when Kevin goes into his cello solo and then pops out that clear-as-a-bell “Baby!” at the end. Most of time, you see the whites of their eyes in delight and surprise. Lol
This is IMO the best Pentatonix cover. You have much more expertise than I; but it seems to me that there are post production effects and double sound tracks enhancing the performance.
@@SirHairless I have seen them perform this live on tour. It sounds the same. Whatever Kevin is doing with the pedals must be easily replicable, I guess, because there was nothing missing from the mix at all. It was phenomenal. I do hope you get the chance to see them live one day.
Yes, you are hearing things that don't match up. PTX is a pop band and as such they will use some studio seasonings to polish the sounds. Kevin IS bowing the bass parts. The percussion hits, the string arpeggios -- those are added in post. But it's OK! They can still sing a version of this live and the extra seasonings may be missing but it doesn't ruin the song. Just because the performance is live it does not mean there is no post-processing. I still love it.
Would love to see your reaction to O Holy Night and the mash up, Christmas Time is Here/Pure Imagination. Both are from their Christmas album from last year. Both are stunning king beautiful!
So glad you got to this as I find it at the very top of their very best performances, all while also being quite surprising for a PTX song. Loved every bit of your commentary and loved that you absolutely loved the piece as well.
As many others have requested, I'm eagerly waiting for you to listen to their remake of their own version of O Holy Night. Matt & Kirstie shine. I also think you'd really enjoy the creativity of the Pure Imagination mash up - it's quintessential PTX. Looking forward to a bunch of holiday music - they have SO many wonderful holiday songs. You watched a few of my faves last year but one that doesn't seem to get as many requests and I just love is Noel. My goodness the harmonies just grab me on that one. Hope you can squeeze it in. I continue to look forward to each of your PTX reactions.
10:30 that percussion sound is not coming from his voice, it’s the cello. Remember the cello is a beautiful resonant wooden box! Bouncing the bow along the strings or drumming fingernails or rings on the wood body or even on the fingerboard can produce amazing percussion sounds.
Kevin loops. He is visible at a few points with his pedals by his feet. If you watch some KO (Kevin Olusola) videos you can see him build and loop live.
I haven't heard Mitch sing a verse that low before. Honestly, for me he can do no wrong. I love them all, but i could listen to Matt sing solos all day!
Does anyone else find it interesting that while most groups use instruments as background for vocal solos, Pentatonix just used vocal a capella background vocals for an instrumental (cello) solo? The creativity of this group is incredible!
PTX has a lot of GREAT Christmas songs. If you love Kevin's cello playing, then check out their song, Over the River (and through the woods.) Lindsay Sterling plays violin as well. See what they did with this children's song: over the river and through the woids, to Grandmother's house we go.... it's a masterpiece of an arrangement.
I remember on a morning talk show with seal and pentatonix and seal kinda had doubts about kevin's celloboxing taking off careerwise.. well.. seal here u go.

Thank you ❤
Funny that you said it was “questionable” as a Christmas song because there is a TikTok of Scott googling songs for them to add to their Xmas album and picking this one because it had “snow” in the lyrics 😂
I do know there’s some sort of looping going on, and it makes me wish there was just a separate camera on Kevin the whole time because I’d be fascinated to see what all he did with his feet haha
Haha yeah I remember reading comments saying that last year when this came out ❄ That's why I've released it as my last PTX video before the Christmas season begins
@@SirHairlesslook bc it had the word “snow” in it, per Scott 😂😂😂😂😂. “Did you know that when it snows”
@@RoDavis-mo1gz Well said, I couldn’t agree more.
I like this description!
Oh yay been so hoping you would do this one! Awesome reaction and breakdown as always! Your expression at Kevin's high note? Priceless :)
Love this one and again, amazed at what a good ear you have.
Very happy to hear it Thanks for tuning in!
Really appreciate it, thank you 🙌🏽
Oh man great reaction.
I saw them perform this live and it sounds almost exactly the same as studio, like with all of their other songs. They are amazing!
It was fun. 🤗
Thank you for your reaction. I am so glad you experienced early PTX before hearing this masterpiece. This is PTX all grown up.
I haven`t watched this reaction yet but FINALLY THIS SONG!!! I am in love in this version Kiss from a rose, gives me chills...
I've been so waiting for you to review this song! It blew my socks off! Hallelujah always had a special part in my heart but this really blew my mind!
Oh my gosh! Your facial expressions are priceless! Definitely makes it fun to watch 😂
❤️
Love ur analysis Sir Hairless (as always).
Christmas is coming round again/ O Holy Night*hint*hint😉😉
I agree with this one. 12 Days as well would be a huge vote!
Last year's version!
@@SirHairlessdefinitely do O Holy Night!
O Holy Night is absolutely awesome! ❤️
PENTATONIX is definitely a SUPER GROUP
Scott showing SO MUCH RANGE and yet there is still more you haven't seen from him.
Kirstie's PERFECT vibrato. I have a natural vibrato in my singing voice as well but its not Kirstie perfect 😅
Matt showing off his EXCELLENT soulful side and singing range
I love Mitch's lower vocals and tamber.
Kevin took us to THE MOON on his solo part!!!
I agree you must do O Holy Night next
👏👏I always look forward to your PTX reactions
My favorite thing is when the music is so good that you can only star at the video and jam and you can't speak.
My favorite part is when Mitch and Kirstie grab for their earpieces after Scott blows them out with that first "baby"!
Oh and Kevin's got a pedal for looping so there's extra coming from that
I was just about to comment the same thing, then saw you had done it for me
I thoroughly enjoy watching you watch/listen to them.
If you watch “coffee in bed”, you’ll see Kevin beatbox like a maniac. One of PTX’s originals.
One of my favourite originals by them. It feels like a superfruit (Scott & Mitch's group) song featuring the rest of PTX, with the video set and vocals but They all are amazing with this track.
OMG YES one of my favorite... I love Mitch and Kevin on that one.
Always give your true thoughts ❤
I believe all percussion sounds are in fact Kevin, but he does have a looping pedal/pre-recorded parts on this one in addition to his live percussion. Nothing added post. It is live though! You can also see Mitch & Kirsti adjusting the volume of their inner ears at different times. BTW you’ve GOT to react to Mitch’s solo cover of Billie Elish’s Your Power!!
Oh, yes! People/reactors have managed to forget that little gem...and a few other Mitch gems...Graveyard and Find You.
Yes!!
Yes, please react to Mitch's solo cover of Billie Eilish's Your Power!
Love your reactions and would love to hear more! Two PTX favorites for December...Amazing Grace and The Prayer!
You should watch Oh Holy Night, Matt has a solo in that one too. It is phenomenal.
Please do pure imagination/Christmas time is here!!!!!!!
@@SirHairless I'm looking forward to hearing your take on whichever ones have been chosen. Thank you, as always.
🙏
I have classed this performance as Pentatonix cubed. It is above and beyond their best cover so far. Cheers!
Someone else commented about Pure Imagination / Christmas time 😅 As I replied to them (will copy here for ease):
>>> unfortunately I don't think I'll have capacity to do that this year (but don't worry, I've got a handful of other PTX fan-favourites 🎄)
They are truly AMAZING! Would love you to react to “Mary Did You Know?” Beautiful song from this iconic group! 🎄
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/E7kEkCbGjVE/v-deo.html
I could not wait to click this one! My new favorite PTX upgrade!
Scott picked this song for the Christmas album because it had the word “snow” in it.
Recommend their cover of Mad World.
🧞 Sir .. Sir .. Sir .. you made us wait.
This reaction and 1 other have been high on my list
"Man Of Constant Sorrow" ... covered by Home Free
🎶🎶🎶🎳🎶🎶🎶
Thank you!
My all time favorite of theirs!!!
The newer version though.
AHA! Live at Star Vista.. cannot be missed!! 😊 best of all, imho! @SirHairless
Who would write a hateful comment about sir ? ❤😊
It happens, but we move 🦾
Oh, good, I think I'm first! I do so love this song, and this version.
We just saw them on Sunday and during the Q&A they were definitely hinting on a lot of originals coming our way. Cannot wait.
I just subscribed because of this reaction. I’m looking forward to checking out your other PTX reactions ❤
🙏
Oh, I hope you react to their O Holy Night that was released about a year ago as well as Pure Imagination/Christmastime is Here!!! I hope you get the chance to see them live someday. I just saw them on the 11/16 and they are so good live. Cannot wait to see them again this summer.
I couldn't hold back my comments and excitement on this one. I had to message you on Patreon!
I joined patreon in readiness for this reaction in particular, so that i could watch an extended reaction etc., but it’s not on Patreon 😟
@@lurchernut7 There was no extended reaction for this one, but there will be some coming for PTX this month And you can also find my previous extended/unblocked reactions on there

@@lurchernut7 Hopefully you caught yesterday's one (Grinch)
@ I did thanks 💗x
However they made it, it sounds spectacular. I loved watching your face when Kevin blew us all away. I've played this so many times!
Indeed - I'd bet it's the one that's the most difficult for them to replicate live on tour etc
Thanks!
❤
I would mostly listen to Avi cause I’m a sucker for a bass but Mitch is on another level! Love your reactions❤
I loved this version of theirs immediately when they released it! It’s stupendous!
Your explanations and reactions are so amazing and entertaining thank you
As many others have requested, I'm eagerly waiting for you to listen to their remake of their own version of O Holy Night.
Totally agree about Noel! It's spectacular.
Loved this!
I agree with a previous suggestion that PENTATONIX THE RECORDING OF EVERGREEN would be helpful seeing them work on layering, stacking etc
Yes I agree. I love thé Evergreen short film.
Great reaction! Fun to hear along with you!
Thank you ❤
Yay, a new Kiss From A Rose reaction!
Scott did a video of choosing future Christmas songs and ran out until he found the word snow in this song - so that's why it was included! LOL
I have seen Kevin beat box AND play the cello live. The multiple screens showcased each of them, so you could see him doing both
I haven't heard Mitch sing a verse that low before. Honestly, for me he can do no wrong. I love them all, but i could listen to Matt sing solos all day!
Mitch is in his lower register quite a bit in Amazing Grace. I love it when he gets to showcase that part of his voice.
Does anyone else find it interesting that while most groups use instruments as background for vocal solos, Pentatonix just used vocal a capella background vocals for an instrumental (cello) solo? The creativity of this group is incredible!
PTX has a lot of GREAT Christmas songs. If you love Kevin's cello playing, then check out their song, Over the River (and through the woods.)
Lindsay Sterling plays violin as well. See what they did with this children's song: over the river and through the woids, to Grandmother's house we go.... it's a masterpiece of an arrangement.
I keep thinking there's a song missing and it's Hallelujah. Its incredible
I remember on a morning talk show with seal and pentatonix and seal kinda had doubts about kevin's celloboxing taking off careerwise.. well.. seal here u go.
