I absolutely love this version. It's my new favorite version. The cry in Matt's voice reaches straight to my soul. I can't decide whether to shout with joy or break down and cry because it makes me feel so much.
Sometimes. Usually for recording, Matt will record the bass line and the lead line as well when he has a solo. Depending on how low it may be, Scott will cover the notes in a live performance.
You mentioned the decay rate on the reverb of Kirstie's last note and you could still hear it fading away as Scott sang the last few words. Not many reactors have either noticed it or mentioned it. But I love that!
Jerod - here's a version from someone you haven't reacted to in a long time - Avi Kaplan. He and his band arranged this on the fly in order to perform it at the last 3 cities on his 2022 tour. Because of a family emergency, he'd had to postpone the shows in Dallas, Houston and Austin to the end of the tour, so singing "O Holy Night" as the final encore was a thank you to those 3 cities. It was the first time since leaving PTX in 2017 that he'd performed a Christmas song, and boy, did he perform it! Here's the Houston performance: ua-cam.com/video/5cvb2qOU0o0/v-deo.html
The video had been blocked initially! Glad to see it can be watched now!
That part where they isolate the "divine" with four or five part harmony made my hair stand up! WOW! anointed! Beautiful.
I’ve cried quite a bit listening to this song. Their performance is flawless and they sing with such conviction - powerful and humbling.
Always glad to see you reacting to PTX.😊

Absolutely on Matt! He has such a great tone.
Their sound has matured so much! I will be seeing them live later this month. Can't wait!
I can't believe how much I love this song by PTX! They have truly excelled in bringing the spirit of Christmas this year. We are blessed to hear them.
