      You don’t need parchment paper, all you have to do is this. After you purchase the chicken from the supermarket while it is still thawed, put it in the freezer for 30 to 90 minutes, one separated from the other (maybe in a ziplock bag) . After theyget semihard go back separate it in the bag again and let it freeze overnight. The following morning, they should be rockhard, and if they are touching a little bit a simple drop on the floor will separate them. Put them back in the freezer and they will never fuse together.

      It works great when you buy bacon too. Just lay them all spread out on a sheet and roll it up, freeze, then take out individual slices as needed.

    this works well too by adding other tasty and healthy things to the water. i added a splash of low sodium soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and a halved onion and carrot to rest my chicken on as i don't have the rack!

    Contrary to established theory, I found that the breasts take longer to cook when on a trivet than when submerged in the liquid. Going by recommended time they get to about 148 F on the trivet. Another minute, again with full release brings them up to proper temperature 161F-168F. When cooked in the liquid the lesser time works. You're actually steaming the breasts when on the trivet while braising or poaching is done in the liquid.

    Great video!!! I tried it but my instead of 2 ckn breasts I put in 5. I added 1 min , 11 instead of 10. Im new to the IP so maybe Im just not totally familiar with its operation. The IP did not time it, it just said "ON". I timed it with my own timer. There was no ding, or timer going off on the IP so checked it after 11 -12 minutes and the ckn was only half cooked. Is that because of the over DBL portion? I put it back in for 5 more mins, still no timer went off so I checked it, still pink inside but better. Hmmmm, they were thawed, am I doing something wrong?? Thanks again for the great video! Keep em coming!! I ended up cooking them once again for 6 more min, on high pressure as you directed. Thx

    • @ifoodreal
      @ifoodreal  4 роки тому +1

      Timer should start in any IP. How long did u wait and what model you have? After On it takes 10-20 mins before timer starts.

      @@ifoodreal I have the Duo SV model, bought it several months ago at costco. I noticed once you pressed pressure cook and entered the time, there was no.... then press start! Confusing, then it just says ON, I would think it'd start timing it right away no? So it actually has to warm up first for 10-20 mins? If thats so, woulnt it take 30 mins and not 10? Thanks so much!!

    • @ifoodreal
      @ifoodreal  4 роки тому +1

      No start button. It starts on its own and warms up when it says ON and the countdown begins. Yes it is more like 20-30 mins total cook time. This might help ifoodreal.com/instant-pot-guide/

    Is every InstantPot rack/trivet supposed to have those handles? Mine did not come with those. So there's nothing to hold onto while lowering the rack into the pot.

    • @dawnwelch6579
      @dawnwelch6579 3 роки тому

      One thing I’ve been using is a foil band so I can lift things out (like cake pans and trivets that don’t have handles such as some egg holders). Maybe this might work for you?
      EDIT: If you do a foil band, make sure the ends are long enough to grab and lift out of the IP...and fold the ends into the pot while cooking!

      it pretty much is
      the way instant pots work, they heat as evenly as possible
      so adding more or less ingredients doesn't typically change the cook time, because everything is pressurized

    Do you think it makes a difference if you put the chicken breast on the multi purpose egg rack instead of the standard trivet , the egg rag is elevated higher the trivet is lower to the water ?

    You should use chicken broth instead of water.
