He's a genius that can rival, if not outclass, Watts, and if She would've managed to turn him on her side (which, knowing her talent for manipulation and his passion for the Grimm, might have not been so difficult) Remnant would've been doomed in less than a month.

i get all the inspiration for my characters in books i right from music. RWBY songs have been an awesome source of inspiration, but most of them are one dimensional, THIS song however can create an awesome multidimensional villain. Best of luck!!
The act of controlling the Grimm for the good is a really cool concept, In my opinion they should have made this Dr. Watts motive, him being in Salem's group could also be explained as his own way of attaining deeper information and knowledge about the Grimm to one day use them against her. They would've created a really good morally gray character.
That was during Salem's appearance. I was referring to when the Grimm were rising out the black pools in Salem's domain similar to the ones the Dragon could create.
I swear everytime I hear "I've given you life my Lusus Naturae, open your eyes!" every single prominent mad scientist-adjacent character i've known in my life comes to my mind, from Dr. Frankenstrein about to defy nature, through Henry Wu witnessing the first dinosaur born in Jurassic Park, to Shou Tucker in FMAB making an abominaton out of his own daughter. This song evokes undead, abominations, chimeras, cyborgs, crimes, accidents and whatever scientist has believed they could play God behind all of these
i love how when you listen to the lyrics merlot's plan is to use the grim to bring peace rather then destroy humanity its kinda cool that he is using salems weapon that she made to harm her sad we never get to see the doctor on the real show rather then the game

its a rare sight to see me give a thumbs up to something. Even all the other songs by these people I didn't as much as I loved the living hell out of them. This is an exception, give my regards to Jeff for this splendid masterpiece.
To me this doesn't so much seem sinister as tragic. Like the frankenstein story; Frankenstein wasn't actually evil, he was a gentle soul who loved children. He was just attacked because he was big and scary. Maybe that's what the Grimm once were- gentle...
I don't think Merlot was based on Frankenstein, but Doctor Moreau, a mad scientist who sought to make animals into humans via cruel vivisection. He makes his beast-folk reject all animalistic activities and worship him. It's an interesting book talking about how different we actually are from humans. It's quite underrated in my opinion.
ThatOneWeirdGirl Try to take your dog out for a walk in a small forest area at night in the dark while listening to this. Sure makes you think about the grimm in a different way. xp
This is one of my favorite songs... the dark tones, rock influence and occasional madness creeping into the singers voice make it the perfect Grimm theme! A grim song for some Grimm.
This is what completely convinced me to fall in love with RWBY. The show already had strong characters, an interesting story, and allusions to other works. But one thing that always gets me about a show or film is how good the music is. In this show, the music is an extension of the plot, and everything, even the mindless creatures of Grim, have a song. This is the equivalent of walkers in the Walking Dead having their own song, and its brilliant.
Dude, I wouldn't be surprised if it is later revealed that Merlot unearthed the truth about Salem and the Brother Gods during his research and also aimed to destroy the Brothers too. Salem and Merlot would have made for a terrifying combination.

Too be fair the Episode in which Yang gets her Atlas arm it's revealed that Adam is merely a lieutenant of the White Fang.
And they referred to her as "High Leader Khan"
This song just gave me inspiration for a villain on a story I'm working on.
i get all the inspiration for my characters in books i right from music.
Kinda like Heisenberg in RE8. Workin' with the big bad but secretly plotting to rebel.
They used a remix of the opening to this in the first scene of Volume 4
Andrew Santori Good ear!
I actually didn't listen to this until after I watched it. Hehe..
They also used a remix of Divide
That was during Salem's appearance. I was referring to when the Grimm were rising out the black pools in Salem's domain similar to the
ones the Dragon could create.
Andrew Santori Lusus Naturae was used when the Grimm were poping out of the pool in Episode 1.
Surely one of his best songs, like damn those verses are amazing
I swear everytime I hear "I've given you life my Lusus Naturae, open your eyes!" every single prominent mad scientist-adjacent character i've known in my life comes to my mind, from Dr. Frankenstrein about to defy nature, through Henry Wu witnessing the first dinosaur born in Jurassic Park, to Shou Tucker in FMAB making an abominaton out of his own daughter. This song evokes undead, abominations, chimeras, cyborgs, crimes, accidents and whatever scientist has believed they could play God behind all of these
As an aspiring mad scientist I just love this song
Endy4ever King of the ender
You making mutant Ender-creatures?
Endy4ever King of the ender Well well seems like we are 2
I really hope this song is in the Volume 4 ost so more people notice it. It's one of Jeff's best songs imo.
And it is lol
This song plays when in vol 4 episode 12 "no safe haven" team RNJR fight with this big grimm. I think ;-) (sorry for my english)
Just finished the campaign too, this song is dark af
i love how when you listen to the lyrics merlot's plan is to use the grim to bring peace rather then destroy humanity its kinda cool that he is using salems weapon that she made to harm her sad we never get to see the doctor on the real show rather then the game
I particularly love the way this is arranged. I've always been a sucker for modulations and meter changes, but WOW the sounds as as a whole are dealt with brilliantly!
i don't know why but the line "awaken my brood" always gives me chills when i hear this song.
good job with the video by the way!
2:31 "I'll lucubrate and change you for the good"
I miss read 'lucubrate' as 'lubricate'
curse my dirty mind 😂
did roman lube you up
...What if the plot twist is that the grimm that left the footprint is a mutant created by Dr. Merlot?!
What a twist!
Dimir Mastermind That would be amazing! Grimm Eclipse is confirmed to be canon and set between Volumes 2 and 3. The best part of your comment is that they *can* incorporate it in future chapters!!!:D
Dimir Mastermind Would not surprise me but. The hoof SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 10!!!!
Is a Nukaleave (hope I spelled it right) it is a man that is connected to a horse. So yeah I can see the that Grimm be created by Merlot.
The question is, how long he has been working with Grimms, since the destruction of Kuroyuri was over a decade ago
HuntSD Nuckelavee, i struggled to write it too, my tablet corrected me bc ive googled it a few times
the tune of this song DOES play when the grimm showed up in episode 11
It's times like these where I appreciate UA-cam to Mp3
Oh wow. For the longest time I thought this was about Salem and never bothered to read the description. Really cool!
I love this, every song coming from is just jammed pack with deep meaning and such I guess, umph. Flynt, keep up the good work, not sure how I could deal with the boring parts of life without this sweet music. :)
This song also hits different if you think the lyrics are sung by Salem instead of Merlot just makes sense
This helps appropriately. Thanks to the creators and the publishers for this piece. It fits what I need to resonate correctly for my task.
Chilling to listen too... Perfect. ~burr~ Love the feeling of goosebumps down my spine!
the one dislike is ozpin
That One Lost Girl add ironwood and every soldier lost
That One Lost Girl that is fair
159 ozpins
Asdqnbkr ozpin is not good at staying alive
every dislike is by every huntsman
listening to this during volume 8 is giving me chills
Flynt you got to be faster man. Keep beating you to it.
Damn! I'll make sure I beat you to it next time ;)
Haha. Well see my friend. Cant wait for the Finale end credit songs.
I call shotgun! :P
Shotgun, fuck.
:P
damn, it's taken me way too long to find this. absolute banger
I think this is going to be the theme of whatever the hell left those tracks at the end of episode 9.
Nevermind looks like it's a theme from Grimm Eclipse.
when i saw those tracks i yelled BIG MISTAKE
Its the end credit song from Grimm Eclipse.
Isn't that one of the Grimm mammoth's tracks?
I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be elephants even though their tusks are more mammoth like due to Oobleck saying "The goliath in the room" instead of the elephant in the room. But as far as I know, those don't have hooves, so it couldn't leave a hoof print. I believe it's a large Grimm we haven't seen before.
Hello there rwby, looking badass as usual
0:35 "I see beauty underneath"
Yep that's true but only if the girl is wearing a skirt
I know what'll be blaring in my house next Halloween. And possible outside if I stop being a good neighbor in that time.
Gotta go play this ASAP
I don't know when or how. But I want to see Dr.Merlot in the main series!
Seriously glad that this song is on the soundtrack for Volume 4!
"All light must fade, every heart return to darkness!"
"So you have come this far and still you understand nothing."
*Summons the Guardian as The Deep End starts*
This is awesome! Plus I never heard this in the series. But this is dark and epic at the same time
It's the now official game for RWBY. Plus I believe the game is still in early stages so it's new.
Hmm, I see
XMari PlayzX it's on Steam, and it's awesome fun.
That beginning is simply haunting...
BUT THE REST IS SO AWESOME
AWAAAKEN MY BROOOD AAAAAAAAAAAA-
Always loved the game credit's music, what a great song. So is this game, of course.
I now want Dr. Merlot to be a recurring villain in the series. Maybe after Salem's defeated.
That would be fun and also pretty cool
Assuming Salem's going to be defeated
But why is he dumped into another dimension!?!
(rip penny)
Yo this hit different now
Without a doubt, the best thing to hear, especially to those who never got the chance to play Grimm Eclipse.
I love that song!
I used to blast this while playing a Battle Royale game, havent played in a long time but when I did I even made the song title my name and to this day it remains the game I am best at
This is such an amazing song! And soooooo creepy!
The more I listen to it, the more the cogs in my mind start turning and I can't get the idea of Frankenstien's monster out of my head.
Anyways, really good and thanks so much for all the videos you do!
We may never see him in the show, but Merlot is my favorite villain
...this song has been stuck in my head for a while lol
Damn, the music is cool from the game :/ i wasn't ready for this kind of music in the game xD
Are we ever ready for any of Jeff williams songs?
That's true, but i still do not know the Grimm Eclipse Ost has this freaking song !
I agree it is cool. As it was said on another post. A remix of this song appears in the background during the first minute of Volume 4 Episode 1 and the last minute of Volume 4 Episode 11.
DarkCall your... f*cking profile pic is creeping me out, like the f*ck?
The song's not helping even though it's awesome but I'm even watching this in the middle of the night...
This is one of my favorite RWBY songs and I haven't even played Grimm Eclipse yet.
*LUSUS NATURAE!*
And they run, when the sun comes up...
its a rare sight to see me give a thumbs up to something. Even all the other songs by these people I didn't as much as I loved the living hell out of them. This is an exception, give my regards to Jeff for this splendid masterpiece.
Grimm Eclipse is so much fun (;-;) love it song mush and the song to
Akiofficial Who do you main in the game? I main Nora
Its crazy its been almost 4 years
To me this doesn't so much seem sinister as tragic.
English Person I'm glad I read this because I doubt I'd have found out about this interesting book had I not.
@@Indigo_Polarity "How different we are from humans" ??
@@Cultureghost We found the alien.
Brayden J "Set phasers to well done"
gosh I keep repeating the first minute of this song it's so...hauntingly dark and beautiful, makes me wish the rest of the song was like it
Anyone else had chills from listening to this song? No? Just me?
Basically the first minute is meant to give you goosebumps
ThatOneWeirdGirl Try to take your dog out for a walk in a small forest area at night in the dark while listening to this. Sure makes you think about the grimm in a different way. xp
ThatOneWeirdGirl nah, I always make sure I *drink my own tears* before I go into the Series. It makes my own pain more painful.
The first Time
Really like the Font style you chose
This is one of my favorite songs... the dark tones, rock influence and occasional madness creeping into the singers voice make it the perfect Grimm theme! A grim song for some Grimm.
It's for Doctor Merlot from RWBY;Grimm Eclipse. About how he turns Grimm into mutants
LoveAndStuff That is so awesome! Thanks for the info!
Upvoted because you credited the artist. Good on you, mate.
OMG I M IN LOVE!!!!
This is defiantly one of the best song of rwby, and especially a song for salem
It's the theme for Doctor Merlot from RWBY:Grimm Eclipse
Awesome job as always
This is what completely convinced me to fall in love with RWBY. The show already had strong characters, an interesting story, and allusions to other works. But one thing that always gets me about a show or film is how good the music is. In this show, the music is an extension of the plot, and everything, even the mindless creatures of Grim, have a song.
This is the equivalent of walkers in the Walking Dead having their own song, and its brilliant.
Does anyone else think that the scientist of the game is a better scientist antagonist than Watts?
Dude, I wouldn't be surprised if it is later revealed that Merlot unearthed the truth about Salem and the Brother Gods during his research and also aimed to destroy the Brothers too. Salem and Merlot would have made for a terrifying combination.
Oh my, Jeff is becoming more and more Progressive Metal! \m/
Why do all the bad guys have the best song
Divide is a good example of that
@@leelduttis4086also "one thing" and "all things must die" (kinda)
@@colewygans1278 I'm the one is pretty good too
@@colewygans1278 Hero too, especially the second part (first part is pretty heroic). And Lionize is probably the best of them all
That ruby pic was perfect. I LOVED it
Soulless orange and unkown
god damn lol
dang this is sick af
jeff williams and the other people who make these songs, if there are, are all freaking geniuses
THE FUCKING GRIMM FROM KUROYURI IS THE THING OF NIGHTMARES AND THIS SONG IS NOT HELPING!
Kerri-Lynn Dunne The Nuckelavee Grimm
Bret Ginn You mean Kevin and the Sea Dragon Grimm?
It's no coincidence that a lot of songs hint at upcoming or previous events... and as I play Grimm Eclipse I instantly got the story in the lyrics
