This holds a very special place in my heart. I remember intently watching this, and it inspired a career to become a 3D animation artist. Almost 17 years later and I work for McDonald's
LMFAO
Tbh I say you dodged a bullet on that one! Being a game developer now! They get treated badly and pretty much have crunch time to meet deadlines! Maybe McDonald’s isn’t so bad after all
Honestly, it’s busy work. Being a fan is different from creating them
Lol
FACTS.
>I don't need to learn math i'll be a video game designer!
>a decade later
>Would you like fries with that sir?
I remember I used to turn on the game just to watch these "making of" videos while eating lol
I used to do the same thing, I watched this and the Immortal music video countless times
Same here bro’s, pure nostalgic!
I did it a lot with the neverhood
same
Dude I did the same thing lol
2002.. I miss them days.
TheDemoniusX If I had a time machine. I would take us back
I'm upset I never had the chance to experience it.
wish you could have, it was less of a shit show that we have going on now.
@@duggiedug9148 we gotta get someone to make it. I still wanted to relive those times ever since 2015. There's one more thing on my bucket list.
2002 was the worst year of my life but I miss those days when I was a kid.
Ed Boon is a very dedicated person
Lucas Santos Yep He stayed from MK1 to MK10🙄
@@tuberoyful 11 and he's gonna stay forever
Going into 2020, I'm sure we can all agree MK Deadly Alliance revitalized the series. After MK4 the hype died fast, but when this dropped, I knew it was something special. Then we got the legendary MK Decpetion and so on. Long live these guys man. It's sad many of them aren't even on the MK development team anymore.
Without a doubt mk4 was pretty ass anyways
@Brian Carter
Yeah baby, "Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks" seems pretty awesome
to this day *17 years later* ...😎
i think that the trilogy and mk11 x mortal kombat 9 is the best video game ever since 1993 im 31 still play online and i like to kill em every now and again.
MK DA was Slick and a whole new look
my dad bought me a ps2 with Deadly
Aaah man i had forgotten about that...
@@schemar17MK4 is overly hated, it wasn’t bad, just different from what came before it
I remember watching this video when I had the game, and for some reason I always remembered 6:58
Lol that food always looked awesome
@@DSMTheEditor highlight of the video mmmm hoagies good
I knew where your time stamp was headed before I clicked it. Same here haha.
Same hahahahahaha
Fuckin same , this scene still makes me hungry lmao
4:51 Ahh, the early 2000's; when wearing really big t-shirts was cool.
These guys are the living legends! I hope someday I'll find Making MKX documentary.
At 9:26 when he corrected him and said "it's just kenshi" he deff felt salty lmao
lol that part always cracked me up lol. "ok kenshi"... chill bro!
I wish I have time machine to travel in 2002.
I remember watching this relentlessly holiday 2002. This absolutely revitalized the entire series. MK forever!
Agree! Crazy that in a few days, mk deadly alliance will be 20 years old
Wait what? This is by far one of the worse games in the series, only topped by Special Forces. Now Deception polished all the horrible mechanics this game introduced.
@@kodemasterx How old are you out of curiosity?
@@FreneticZetetic let's just say I've been playing the franchise since MK1...
@@kodemasterx That's fair hence why I didn't bash you or troll, etc. I'm 35 been playing since I was 5. MKDA might be surpassed gameplay-wise, but at the time it was insane how much content was in that game. It absolutely revived the series. I'd say Deception was the peak for that era.
I've always loved watching this video and the ridiculous "Cooking with Scorpion".
looks like such a comfy environment
I remember havin this game for gamcube and puttin in mad hours playin. And it got me thru so much bein in group homes
I am glad you are doing better
“Dude I don’t even know you anymore...”
"...and I *doesn't even asked about your name* either...😒"
I remember watching this multiple times one night when I was bored.
hi dustin
@@Pauliemkp
Hello there, Paulie...
As a kid I was so jealous of these devs and wanted to work there, but as an adult I hear Ed say 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM and thank my lucky stars I didn't go that route.
actually he went int that early he said many of hte others show up between 9am to 10am. so really they were working 12 hour days. i mean that still sucks but ed was making the big bucks so hey it paid off for him
He didnt stay like that years. He probably stay focus and hard working like that during game development then took a long vacation in between games as long as he wanted. Also he could have retired rich long ago, like john tobias probably. If he stayed so long is because he like it and if you are doing what you like it isnt really working, he is having fun all day long. @@joeswanson733
Yeah mk was in it's prime so he's was definitely making the bread
I remember watching this 100s of times back in MKDA when I first got it.
This is when I wanted to be a game developer.
Did you ever get there?
love making of videos. especially old ones
This video just makes me so happy man, these were the golden days of MK
This was PEAK MK 2002 2004 with the masterpiece Deception i consider it 1 game with 2 parts and it literally was
the story
@@smoketj4830peak was probably mk2 or 3.
9:27 interesting they specify it's no longer "Blind Kenshi" because the back of the Box Art still says "Blind Kenshi"
This was amazing to see after so many years. Deadly Alliance made me love MK again.
MK1 brought me here love those guys awesome work with each game.
A moment of silence for those whose eyes have been sacrificed for this masterpiece due to the PC screens!
My guy ed worked from 630 to 930, wtf bro. Thats always blown my mind for years lol
not really this is the norm for that kind of industry. 12 hour days are routine. since ed was team leader he puts in extra hours but considering he makes good six figure salary plus bonus and options etc i think it's worth it. if anything i'm surrpised he's still in the business. he's hitting 57 he could easily retire and sail off to the sunet. he's done his bit and part.
When it’s something you’re passionate about, you usually don’t mind and the time flies by 😂😊
That food looks so delicious lol the cheese fries 😩😍
mmmmmmm hoagies good

Yeah, and that's so cheesy...🧀🍟
It is 9/7/16. This is insane.I love mk and this is just amazing.I will come back 5 years from now and see this. I just love mortal kombat!!!!!!!!!!
3 more to go
JiNx Johnson let me know when you’ve come back
Im looking forward to your return next year.
Almost there!
3 months
This is gonna be me one day I swear it once I get my degree in computer programming I’m going to be a game dev for NetherRealm Studios.
Michael Ajayi you got it guv👽
How's it going so far?
I too am curious
I used to watch this often on my PS2
Classic! I watched this so many times on my PS2 lol
After seeing this again all these years later
I just noticed that Ed boon saw that quan chi neck stretch fatality and gave it the okay lmfao
yeahyou was here
I can't stop watching this, I just love it. And Deadly Alliance was probably the best Mk in the early 2000s, imho...
MK Deception
Deception was good. I'll give you that...
I remember seeing this in my game....damn those old crt tvs are bringing back memories
Anybody else remember watching this from the Extras in DA?
It's truly amazing how so many people come together to give it their all on a single game.
I was considering getting into graphic design when I was 13 and watching this. So cool and great personalities.
crazy to think that the same amount of time from MK9 to now is the same amount of time from MK1 to this mini doc.
i'm sure they enjoyed their work, but having to put in 12-14 hour days every day would get old
Not even. If it's something You're passionate about it feels at times like the day is too short. At least thats how I feel when working on paintings
Marco Martinez you can be passionate about anything, doesn’t mean you always feel like spending 15 hours a day doing it. You know how tedious of a job animation is? Imagine spending 15 hours (minus breaks) staring a computer screen animating something that will only be about 20 seconds in length when all is said and done..... then doing it again the next day, and the next day. Not to mention running into problems, not being able to get something to work right sometimes and having to figure out a solution. I’m sure they get headaches and get testy and irritable sometimes. Even things you love doing can feel like a chore now and then.
The final product might be great, but a lot of hard tedious, sometimes headache inducing work went into making it. It’s not always just a big playground where they’re always having fun like you see in this video. Some people have this misconception that just because they enjoy the product, the job of making that product must be completely awesome, one big funhouse. I’m sure these guys love their jobs overall, but you can also bet your ass there are times when they don’t love it so much. You just never see those moments on camera. Plus they sometimes have deadlines to meet, deadlines which it doesn’t always look like they’re going to be able to meet and have to work even harder, try to solve their technical issues faster, and stress themselves out more.
@@uome20bukz
Well yeah don't get me wrong, nothing is a cake walk. But like I said in my case with the many tedious and sometimes frustrating hobbies I have, I feel like I have almost no time. As I've said before, I'll spend about half a day working on a painting, and while there are mistakes and many small things that need attention when working on one, it's still fun. Idk I think you just gotta have a true passion as I said before. I love doing this for free, but if somebody paid me alot for a single painting I'd love it even more.
@@marcomartinez856 can i request a painting and you can mail it to me?
Such nostalgia! I am watching this a few hours away from the new Mortal Kombat 1 🥰 Excited is an understatement man ❤️
2:00 Babe, We're Gonna Love Tonight by the band Lime. In case anyone was curious about the music.
6:45 - That Sonya Stance
I always enjoyed playing Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance & watching the bonus videos from the main menu
Ed Boon will forever be a legend 💯
Agree
Had to come back to this after hearing about the MK developer crunch controversy...
Back in the 90’s & into early 2000’s Midway was one of the best devs...
It's a shame they are gone
Remember when game used to have awesome extras that out can unlock in game? And NOT pay $30 for a "Behind the scenes pack?" Now most video game "extra's" are just 10-20 drawings of the characters and levels. OR just 3 pathetic music tracks that are CALLED extras! Also why was that 1 guys shirt blurred out?
I think it's cool how they took there time with this game as well the other games.
started the game to look this making of and the song Immortal it was legendary!
I remember watching this a lot as a kid, and I was inspired to learn 3D modeling and animation. I took Maya in college and one day decided to watch this again and realized, that's literally the program they are using in the video :D
Man, Ed Boon had a 3000GT wow!
Man created the greatest game franchise ever of couse hes rich as fuck 😆
Me at 6 years old
“I don’t know what they’re talking about but it’s cool!”
Me after college with a computer graphics degree:
“I know what they’re talking about and it’s a pain.”
This been out for so long and I'm just now seeing this video holy crap 👀👀
my GOD!
comes in to work 6:30am, leaves work 9:30pm!!!
you have to wake up freaking 5am just to get ready.
we don't even know how far the damn work is, cuz he has to drive there:/
If I worked there I wouldn’t get bored at all. Thank god Ed boon never gave up on the franchise and also Ed driving a 3000 GT? Sheeesh
I remember watching this when I was a child. And I didn't understand anything because my mother lenguage is spanish, but now I can be sure that english lessons works xP
I guess the lessons paid off well...!
Oh my. If I ever meet Ed Boon, i’m going to ask him does he remember hitting his head on the door during this film🙃
I wouldn't touch my food until I had this video up
Thats passion right there!
Oh my goodness. This game came out when I was 15 yrs old. I remember my cousin telling me about it; especially when he told me that Adema did a music video for the game. I got super excited and I just had to have it.
5:20 & 5:53 I like the fact they censored the xbox controller
Cant advertise certain products in company videos. Plus they dont wanna get sued by Microsoft.
I love ed boon
he loves you too

JC4R but they get damage in the face in MK deadly alliance, deception and Armageddon.

So wait do they have to back to school to learn this stuff for like the newer systems or they just get familiar with it
yes they have to keep going to school
@@cosmeticscameo8277 that’s crazy
@@nyboy1046 if they don't learn from someone or go back to school how do you think they keep up to date on all the new tech for game making?
for example ed boon graduated from college in 1986 with his computer science degree. john vogel for example graduated from the art academy in 1988. if going by their original certs they would've been out of date after mortal kombat 3 (1995)
