I just wanted to send a big 'thank you' for the vid. My son & I changed my daughter's cat in a little under a couple of hours, saving her a ton of $$$.
Thank you. Good, explanatory video. I'll be replacing my Son's this weekend w a used one from a parts car that appears to be in good shape w low miles. My Son's is an 09'.
Thabk you for the vid. Recently purchased an 06 tc for my daughter. Come to find that it wouldn't pass smog die to cats. Will definitely be replacing myself.
Great vid. Thanks Off topic - Your power steering fluid might need changing. The power steering line does not have a cooler and the fluid burns. The black stuff settles in the rack and wears it out quicker. Toyota (or Scion) uses DEX lll ATF for power steering fluid. DEX Vl is synthetic and doesn't burn like DEX lll. It's backward compatible with DEX lll and will clean the reservoir bottle and screen like new.
Getting ready to replace the cat on my kid's car so thanks for the video and the recommendation on where to get an affordable one. Did the heat shield bolts not lining up ever cause a problem?
How many miles did your cat start to fail on you? And why didn’t you film how you put the springs bolts back on? I know it needs to be compressed a little how did you do it? What tools etc
The springs did not need to be compressed the bolts are long enough to get started and then just use a impact gun. The cat failed around 165,000 miles.
Ah man I don’t have an impact gun that’s why I wanted to see it being done! Thanks! I had trouble with that corner 12mm to remove where the alternator is at.
Hey man just wondering where did you get a cat I need a new one for my 07tc I have a P0420 code :( and live in California but thank you for the video this will come in handy when I replace mine!
Hello, how would I know when I need to replace the catalytic converter on my Scion Tc? My car has been stalling to start and now the check engine light is on. 😏

I have since flushed the system when I replaced the Power-steering pump and got a new reservoir tank.

Not really, I ended up drilling out the holes on the heat shield bigger and it bolted up just fine.
@@NikGarage Great. Thanks again for the video and the advice

@@rhdadrianhow did u get it off
@@og9018 it wasn’t that bad except the corner 12mm needs to be with a wrench, I used all hand tools.

See the link in the description under the video.
Man what size bolt did you use for the missing bolts you had. I’m missing the same one and need to instal mine as well. Any memories on the thread?
I can’t recall what thread it is but I believe it’s a M10x1.5 14mm.

You would get a check engine light that will say “Catalytic converter deficiency” or something like that.
How the hail did u get the bottom off
Used a 14mm socket.
