remember this was the 70's and also in the UK. There was nothing wrong at the time with 2 little children frolicking in a lake without clothes on. It was before the reach of the internet also.

Robert was sharing a very intimate, loving family experience in tribute to his son. Those babies playing in the stream without their clothes, to me represents pure innocence. And yes Awesome song. Stage full of legends right there.

You're exactly right. His comments in that ruined the video for me. I remember when nobody would have given a thought to the kids playing because it was obvious why it was included. I really, really hate the 21st century.

Back in the day things were more innocent and Robert probably had a gazillion acres with a brook running through it so they were able to let their kids play freely without worries or judgement. This is a profound song. If that were me I don’t think I could’ve done something like this or singing through it without completely cracking up but then again I am not a stellar artist like these guys so this was probably extremely healing for Robert! I mean how could you not dedicate something to your child😔

Thank you so much for playing the video alot of people didn't realize it was about is son. They had a big property with a a creek, and back in the 70's it wasn't unusual to let your kids play naked in the water till they got to a different age RIP. Much love to you and your family 💕Brandi Modrak 💕

@@jon-xq2lc Sorry brother, but Robert and John Paul wrote it together..... Robert wrote the lyrics. JPJ came up with the synthesizer riff and from there, the song took shape.
As an aside: It's one of the ONLY songs that Jimmy had ZERO part in. (the other one that doesn't have Jimmy's fingerprint being "South Bound Suarez")
This is such an important song.... that I feel it is EQUALLY important to make sure we share the CORRECT facts. Sooooo.... to reiterate, Robert and JPJ wrote this TOGETHER.
BUT of utmost importance.... THE LYRICS ARE ALL ROBERT'S to his child... JPJ had NOTHING to do with the words.
FUN FACT: At the end of the song when Robert sings "all of my love to YOU, and YOU, and YOU".... he repeats it 3 times because he wanted to include his wife and his other living child, Carmen (at the time). In essence letting them know that even though his boy's death had put him in a dark place, and he wanted to be with little Karac.... he still loved them too.
      Peace and light...💞

There's a ton of symbolism is this song. The feather is Robert's sigil from the 4th album and can symbolize the ephemeral quality of life. There is also a belief that any time you see a feather, an angel is near. Imagery of weaving, cloth, spinning can symbolize the tapestry that is a lifetime. It might also have to do with the Fates from Greek mythology who measure out a length of thread for each human life and once it's your time, they cut the string to end your life. A beautiful, tasteful, heartfelt memorial for so much sadness. Robert had a total of 4 children; with his wife Maureen, they had daughter Carmen, son Karac, then another son, Logan, after Karac had passed. In addition, after he and Maureen divorced, he has a son named Jesse with his former sister in law, Shirley.

There was no freakin' social media at all. I am 72 and our two kids occasionally just felt free and giggled like crazy running around at bathtime or summertime outside (no neighbors). People were a bit laid back after suffering the hyper self conciousness the 50's put us through!

What a staggering tragedy to befall the Plant family. I don't think Robert Plant was ever the same after that since the child's death occurred while he was away over here on tour. It took almost three and half years to get him to agree to return to the US, and on the eve of that tour, his best friend John Bonham passed away. And with him when one of the greatest bands of all time.

1.) So happy you did the video and got to see Robert with his baby boy Karac, daughter Carmen and his wife at the time, Maureen. He has 4 children (Karac being deceased) Fun fact: After little Karac's passing, he later married Maureen's sister Shirley! lol!! Although, keep in mind Robert had dated Shirley BEFORE he married Maureen, SOOOO.... wife #2 was actually the FIRST of the 2 sisters to date Robert. What a hot mess that must've been!?? lol!!!🤣😂🤣 (btw, Karac is pronounced "care - ak", Sorry, that's the best I can do at helping you sound it out!🤷‍♀️)
2.) You asked: "Why they showing the kids naked??" It was the 70's silly!! You know.... the Era of the hippies, "free love", the burning of the bra's etc... women had burned their bra's and never wore them, and it was all peace, love and Rock n Roll. Everyone was essentially naked back then!! Hell, a lot of guys didn't even wear underwear!! Lawd knows that we ALL know Robert definitely was never wearing any tightie-whities!!😅 Just take another look at the live at MSG "Stairway to Heaven" performance! They had an EXCELLENT cameraman (the best ever in my humble opinion!!😁).... the angles of his shots were SPOT ON!!!🤗 No undies for sure!!!👊😜
Anywhoo, children being naked in videos and in pictures was NOTHING unusual or "taboo" in the 70's. It was completely natural for children to be running around naked in streams, creeks, riverbeds and everywhere. And I should know because, just like little Karac.... I was a very young child in '77. Us kids were always running around butt-naked running through the sprinklers or at the beach/lakes etc!! It wasn't just a "rock star" lifestyle thing!! Good times!!!😊
3.) I love what you said about the song and this album being just as good as all the others! I think now you truly understand when most of us answer your question about what our favorite Zep album or favorite song is.... they're ALL amazing! The amount of greatness, unearthly talent and IMO... pure magic between these 4 guys undeniable and unmatched by anyone to this day.💯
4.) Just a little fun fact: I read in an article/interview once that at the end of this song when Robert sings "All of my love to you, and you, and you" he is sending his love not only to little Karac but also... his other child at the time and to his wife. That's why he says "to you" 3 times... just thought that was touching and shows a little bit of Robert's heart and head-space when he was writing these lyrics.
I have truly loved watching your journey through Zeppelin's catalogue beyond measure.💯💯💯 I will NEVER forget when you did ur first Zep reaction (STH) and you weren't really too terribly impressed and even joked about what Robert was wearing. You said something like: "Is he wearing a blouse?"😂🤣😂 You laughed as though u weren't terribly impressed. BUT THEN.... you went ahead and gave LZ another chance and checked out "Whole Lotta Love"!! THAT WAS FREAKING PRICELESS!!!👏👏👏 You got it with that one, I just knew you were hooked!!❤
And here we are.... on the last studio album a whole year and a half later, and you are still completely enjoying them!! Anyway, seeing your eyes light up when you hear the incredible nuances and intricacies in each song and even in Robert's voice has been a COMPLETE freaking joy!!🤗 Thanks for the ride Biz!! You're the best!!!🥰❤
Side note: It's super late, I watched ur AC/DC "Let Me Put My Love In to You" reaction and THAT WAS A FREAKING AWESOME reaction!!! You crack me up, in all the best ways!! LOVE IT!! K so my point to this is, I saw this Zep rxtn noti come in and I HAD to come here ASAP.... so I haven't commented on the AC/DC rxtn yet (and I have SOOOO much to say on that one! Go figure! lol!!). Promise, I will be back on that one in the morning (after I re-watch it a couple times! lol!! It's a good one!!).

This came out in high school and I liked it, I just didn't like it as much as the earlier stuff. But I did like certain songs and what I've noticed over the years is that I increasingly like everything on this, and by now it's become one of my favorite albums by them. They were adapting perfectly for the time and still predicting things that wouldn't happen for another few years. I love the songs and I love the choices they make, everything about it. I love to play these three songs in a row from the first side of the album, southbound Suarez, Fool in the Rain, hot dog. It's a Wonderful triple punch

When Led Zeppelin filmed the movie 'The song remains the same' in 1973/ '74 (it wasn't released until 1976) ... Robert Plant's kids appeared in the movie briefly w/ his then-wife Maureen - his daughter Carmen, and son Karac. When Robert Plant & Maureen were involved in acar accident in Greece, their 2 kids and Jimmy Page's daughter Scarlet were in the back, thankfully not injured... but both he and Maureen were lucky to survive. Robert Plant could not perform live for 2 years because of his injuries...
In 1977, Led Zeppelin finally got a US tour going, but it was a disaster... Just one problem after another. Still, Plant brought his wife and kids to visit Disneyland on a day off... After a catastrophic Oakland show, the next day, John Bonham, Zeppelin's manager Peter Grant and others were arrested for a brutal assault of an Oakland security guard... When Robert Plant arrived at his hotel in New Orleans, he got an urgent message from Maureen back home... She told him Karac had died from a viral infection. Plant returned home and the tour was cancelled.
In late 1978, Robert Plant finally agreed to work on new Led Zeppelin music... the band worked in Sweden at Abba's studio, but both Jimmy Page and John Bonham were not showing up... So, John Paul Jones (bass/ keyboards) wrote most of the music for Zeppelin's final album 'In through the out door' which was released in 1979. Tragically, the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980 was too much to bear... Robert Plant was friends w/ him and his family since they were kids. The 1982 Zeppelin album 'Coda' was a collection of unreleased Zeppelin songs recorded in their career.
Robert Plant wrote 'All my love' for his late son Karac... he and Maureen had another son Logan. After they divorced in the 80's, apparently Robert Plant had a brief affair w/ Maureen's sister Shirley and had a son together - Jesse.

Love your comment and I'm sure you already know this but just in case.... Robert actually had dated Shirley way back in the late 60's BEFORE he started dating and married her sister Maureen! Clearly there was something special about those sisters! lol!! But hey, the 3 of them brought 4 children into the world so that's something. However, it's kinda weird that his kids from each of the girls are not only half-siblings.... they're also cousins??!!! Umm, nothing like keeping it all in the family! lol!!!
Anyway, GREAT comment and accurate as well! Love it!!

Of course Page always gets the lion's share of credit and fans adore him, but for me, John Paul Jones is just as much a maestro. His instrumental versatility of keyboards, bass, mandolin, etc., and his extensive experience with arrangement and production contributed significantly to LZ's greatness, especially this song for which he wrote the melody, played the keyboards, and did the arrangement. An eternal masterpiece.
