This has always been one of my favorite ballads, and to me it’s one of the best of those that came out of that time. Rest in peace to Michael’s soul.

this song was played at michael's funeral. you talk about floods of tears! I love michael hutchence so much. if you are an introverted reader you would have vibed perfectly with michael who was too. He was a poet, make no mistake. you should see/hear them live. it's another level. there is no one I feel more connected to celebrity-wise more than michael. I have to believe somewhere out there he's looking down. I just have to.
He sounds like a beautiful soul. It's very interesting to learn that he, too, was an introvert. I would have loved to meet him. This song alone shows that he is truly talented and unrepeatable.
It is truly sad that he left this world so young; however, I, too, believe he is looking down and in a happier place! He has a beautiful aura about him.

I first saw them play in 1978, so hearing Michael's voice will always remind me of Sydney pubs with beer-stenched air, sticky carpet, blood spots on the walls from the drunken brawl the night before and Michael's acne scars which he managed to hide as the 80's progressed. Cheers !!

Although the Coroner states that it was probably suicide, he found a cocktail of drugs & Alcohol in his system, his girlfriend at the time Paula Yates never accepted the ruling that Hutchence had committed suicide, claiming in a TV interview that he had died of auto-erotic asphyxiation.
This seems very mysterious. I look forward to reading more about him. Thanks for sharing. She knew him the best, so perhaps there was a mistake made somewhere along the way. People aren't their most tactful when inebriated. Hmmmmm...

Love the song choices so far- Morrison and Hutchence were both very charismatic lead singers. Other songs you might try- She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult, Love You to Death by Type O Negative, and anything with Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog/Audioslave- or just his version of Nothing Compares to You).

Just stumbled across your channel due to this fantastic song. You put time, thought & effort...moreso than many. Nothing wrong with a pause, you're reacting & commentary are necessary. Very thoughtful comments by the way, & shows your interest, not for the sake of "reacting". My only complaint,...the song is too short. (If you're interested, here's another ballad of sorts to listen to; "More Than Words" by Extreme.) Cheers.

You are doing a great job! But, your top scared me at first! Then I realised it was your knees! Look back on this video…you will see what I mean.
There really a couple of things that will help you along pretty quickly. 1. the 80s and 90s (and the 70s too) are full of amazing music (that are sampled a LOT now). 2. Music was all made with old fashioned analog equipment, musicians had to play every note, there were no computers to ‘fake’ anything! 3. The awful videos (they were not a ‘thing’ yet) are terrible, I recommend not watching them…..back then we all loved the music but we rarely watched videos, and then we never connected them to the music and the big one…4. Times were innocent…..the imagined implications in the lyrics are just that…mostly imagined. It was ok for a male singer to be truly romantic with lyrics…..it was extremely rare to have references to drugs or sex……it just was not a thing.
I would have hated music of the ideas behind them were not as innocent as I was…..back in the 80’s we stayed innocent and believed we were surrounded by equal innocence…..I have been sickened by some misconceptions about my favourite songs. I hope you won’t make the same mistake.

'Til Tuesday's singer/main songwriter was Aimee Mann, who went on to do tons of her own music, she's still around 😊 'Til Tuesday were together in the '80s.

Amariss, the lyric is, "I told you / That we could fly / 'Cause we all have wings / But some of us don't know why..." In my opinion, Michael is saying we all have the ability to be angels and therefore we have angel's wings -- abilities to be each other's savior, abilities to have wisdom and see the big picture (as if we could fly to a high place and see things in their entirety), abilities to love without conditions, and so on. But we are often confused about our real talents, strengths, and powers, and we let our best moments slip away, because we don't believe in ourselves enough or see how good we are or could be, if we would just take a leap of faith. That's my read of it. Also, Michael was very in love at this time in his life but he also lost a great love, by this point, as I recall. This song may have come out shortly before he lost the love of his life, but I might be wrong about that.

I grew up with their music -- I was a total 80's kid; I was a drummer, a dancer, and a DJ back then, so I was immersed in the music of the times. Because Lead Singers have the front of the stage as their playground, I kind of Idolized them (I also turned Lead Guitarists into gods, partly for the same reason). Michael's heart, expressed through his lyrics, always drew me in and resonated. He was a beautiful brother and artist and he suffered and had great joy. You should see the documentary made about him and the band called "Mystify: Michael Hutchence". It's amazing and a bit heartbreaking, bless him. And bless you! You are beautiful also!
