What could be worse than getting stung? The wife and I once did a day trip to Cades Cove. We found a nice secluded picnic site that included a campground style pedestal grill with a picnic table. I lit the charcoal and started grilling burgers while the wife pulled out our picnic basket and set up the picnic table. Just before it was time to flip the burgers, a big skunk came directly out the woods heading directly for our site. We ran directly for our vehicle and watched the skunk climb up onto the table to devour everything! You can scare away a bear but never try that with a skunk! Lesson learned. Happy travels!
We have had so many RVers and campgrounds with lights on all night that we applied Limo level ceramic tint on our bedroom windows. We use a lighter ceramic tint on the rest of our windows.
You should of kept going a few miles down to the Ashburn exit and stayed at Carroll’s Sausage Country campground. Full hookups for $40 and you get a $10 coupon to use in their store. We stay there and do our final black tank home before making it back home to the Tampa area. We stock up on meats, bacon, sausage and smoked pork chops which are amazing!
Happily everhanks stayed at a loves also . And had the same noise complaint . And for almost 70 bucks I would expect a level spot especially for new construction. Love you're videos and hope you're ear has healed well bee stings suck . Greetings from Oklahoma.
We are happy to announce that Bob's ear is back to 100%! He still says that was the worst pain he ever felt. We counted at least 4 wasp stings. We must have missed the Hanks video on Love's - will go check it out! Thanks :) Love Oklahoma and hope to be spending more time there at some point in 2025!
Hi Bob & Kerri! I am sorry about the wasps in pedestals. I have also gotten stung by them. My lesson learned was to always check before hooking up. One more thing, I saw your ducks on the dash! Love them! I have them as well, but after learning about ducking jeeps, I was hesitant about displaying them. You guys have empowered me to put mine out! Thank you for keeping it real! Safe travels!
Kari.... the going around the circle is exactly how the folks here do with a brand new round-a-bout they just installed here on our little podunk towns road... I go up an watch the action at least twice a week!!! The Kamalamadingdong song of the wheels on the bus go round and round is absolutely hilarious as they figure it out!!
When I was growing up my parents cure for wasp stings was to take a cigarette, put a quarter to half dollar size amount of tobacco in your palm, spit into the tobacco, mix it into a poultice and apply to the affected area. And no I am absolutely not kidding, it works too.
I'm sorry it didn't go well for you. My wife an I stopped at the Valdosta GA Love's RV stop 3 weeks ago on a long travel day and had a good experience. Having full hookups in the warmer months is far better than running the generator all night to keep the AC going. With the Love's account discount I think it was a total of about $43 for the night. The noise level was low and the accommodation nice. It is definitely catering to overnights and not longer stays. The only complaint we had was very low water pressure. Everything was clean. We got in and out very easy. The entire transaction was on the app. Whereas I normally prefer a harvest host, there was not one available in the area. For travel days needing a overnight stay, it was a good choice for us.
As of now being a retired truck driver and camper I know the noise of a truck stop and the lights are irritating to a camper. BUT. Yea a big BUT as a truck driver it doesn't bother us a bit. Actually it's music to put us to sleep by. Also the truck bed has a light vibration to it which I miss. I tend to keep a light on in my camper as well as a fan if the ac is not on. Oh btw my son got stung last year by bees that got into the power cord hole in the side of the camper. I had to pull a panel inside the camper and remove a huge hornets nest. Keep up the good work.
Good morning, Bob & Karri. For future reference, if you ever get stung, make some mud and apply it to the affected area. Doesn't look pretty, but it draws the poison out. When I was much younger, I was stung 3 times by a bumble bee and damn near died. There's a funny story to that, but it's not appropriate to say here. haha Again, another informative and wonderful video. Peace out and stay safe.
During my 14-day trip to the Grand Canyon and back to the East Coast in your favorite state, I only paid for three places to stay: one night at a KOA, one at Love's, and a campground in Utah (to see if I might want to stay there long-term in the future). Since my RV is self-contained, I learned how to use my generator. The Love's RV spot was more expensive than I expected. While the stay wasn’t bad, it wasn’t worth the price for just one night. I found I preferred staying overnight at Cracker Barrel or rest stops. In the future, I’ll skip paying for one-night stays. I also found free dump stations along the way, which made paying for the Love's spot even less worthwhile. Looking forward to my next trip this Christmas.
The price is why we have stayed away from Loves RV Stop. We have had enough of experience with bugs that we always have sprays. Wasp are no fun. Grew up on a lake and they loved the make nest at the Boat house. So I learn always have sprays.
We had to do Love's leaving Texas after the solar eclipse, we couldn't find a place elsewhere, everything was sold out. There were 4 of us parked there. It was super loud all night, the kids passed out from exhaustion, my wife and I slept maybe 3 hours each. We would only do it again if we had to. It's a good option as a last resort.
I see all those MoFo’s in the light. That’s managements responsibility and hopefully you told the manager so they can (hopefully) address it. Now I have seen videos and researched the Loves travel stops for Rv’s. I can’t blame them for the wasps, it’s nature being nature 😂but I think they serve a purpose. That was pricy and I don’t like the adjustable price. It’s ridiculous 😡. I haven’t used one yet but probably will. Just one night and I’m dumping, filling and probably doing laundry. That’s all I’d use it for.
We did let them know, hopefully they fixed it before someone else got stung. We just feel bad for any kids that could be out there. The pricing was what we really took issue with as well.
I got stung 1 time 3 weeks ago from a wasp and that was so painful. I can't image 4 times, yikes. My arm was swollen and hot for over 2 weeks, good luck! GM
So sorry you got stung, we must have been at the same time or withing a day. We stayed at the same loves labor day weekend as well. Aside from the price we actually loved it and would use it again. I have been stung in Toxiway RV Resort which was well over a hundred bucks a night. Unfortunately shit happens. Stay safe!!
You are right, shit does happen! While not a life ending experience by any means it does show that as time goes by and these places are not maintained it will get worse. We believe these are a great idea, just poor execution. Wasps aside, surge pricing will most likely prevent us and many others from using them - if they work for you though, 😉 enjoy!
That sucks about the Love's and the bee stings. We have reservations at a Love's when we head home to South Carolina in a couple of weeks from Vermont. Hopefully, our overnight goes better. Enjoy your stay in Tennessee.
You pay for convenience of electricity. Of course you are going to have noise; it’s a truck stop! 🚛 No excuse for their non-maintenance though. Loves needs to keep on top of safety issues like that. Having said that, can’t judge all locations on the poor maintenance of a single location. Glad you are not allergic to wasps. 💕🙏🏻
People stay longer than a night. There are RVers that use it for softball tournaments and other recreational tournaments there. We stay there all the time when we are traveling through to TN. We have never had any issues there.
Sorry to hear all that, I have a can of wasp spray and other bug sprays I keep in my Camper just in case. I see from this video here that you are doing much better. Stay safe out there you two
I’ve watched all your videos and have never commented….sorry lol…. Just wanted to let ya know I look forward every week to your new ones. Appreciate the honesty. Y’all do an amazing job. My wife and I don’t RV but look forward to the day when we do. Keep up the great work and congrats on 25k well 26k almost 27k now.
We have not see one of these type of Loves but have seen the 3 of 4 spots they sometimes have in the main parking lot. We have never even considered one of these for an overnight. For us Harvest Hosts is the way, we don't need hookups for an overnighter. The a-holes with wings situation at that loves really sucks.
It's been at least twenty-five years since I stopped at a Loves for any reason. The last time was for gas, a trip to the men's room, and a can of Mountain Dew for the road. The gas was bad, and I had to make two more stops at convenience stores further down the interstate to get the Loves stuff out of my pickups fuel system. Both of those stores sold major brand name fuel (Shell) and my truck "came back to life" after the Loves fuel burned off. The men's room at that particular Loves was, at best, only slightly cruddy the day I stopped by. But the Mountain Dew was ice cold! Even Loves could not screw that up....Or maybe they could have. I'll never know as unless it is a dire emergency indeed, I'll never stop at any Loves, anywhere, ever again. I know it was just that one store, that particular day, and a long time ago....But once burned....
So this might sounds strange/weird/gross, but it yuckily works: us Tennesseeans are used to wasp/bee/hornet/yellow jacket stings and they're terrible! In Alabama doing army training, I (Bethany) actually walked upon a yellow jacket home. Yellow jackets live in the ground. I got them stirred up not even knowing they were there until about 4 up them ended up inside my helmet and couldn't get out until I through my helmet off. Stuff like that is more common than most realize. However, now to the disgusting/yucky thing that absolutely 100% works on almost instantly removes the terrible sting feeling that lasts forever otherwise....chewing tobacco spit. Rub it on there and it'll work. Now you probably don't want just anyone's spit on you, but lots of people in the south use chewing tobacco. I think it's gross! but, I do know my brother's dip spit removed the stinging super fast. Again, it's gross, but the only thing that works instantly. Hope maybe that can help someone. Definitely too late to help youn Bob, but maybe help for the future.
We have stopped at Love's all over the country when we are traveling between locations. Never had a problem at any of them. Yes the price is higher but that is all over the place not just loves.
Love's has an incredible opportunity to provide a quality experience, however with surge pricing and lack of maintenance it will remain off our list. Interestingly enough, the KOA right down the road as well as 2 other actual RV parks were cheaper by at least $10. Will check back in about a year to see where these places are at once the "new" wears off.
Price is crazy, thanks for the information. I have a 2024 f150 power boost and I can run my rv ac off my truck. I have a 7.3 kilowatt plug in the bed to hook up my rv So I can stay overnite anywhere.
Well, it's the corporate direction. They are not following up with the service end of the camping experience. They will need to staff up to handle the normal business and then trained staff to maintain the outdoor camping.
But The Loves in Greenfield OHio ran off someone who was utubing. The manager came outside and told him it was private property. He was investigating the area ( one of her employees said the immigrants shop lift ALL THE TIME. I am getting a different feeling about Loves. Maybe I dont feel the Love. also, I was stung at a Panera Bread in Johnson City Tenn. Wow, it hurt.
My recommendation is to call Loves not that store, Main Loves they play with no junk. You can them speak to someone it's business. When i drove a Truck Love was my Truck Stop due to service. I-75 South you stopped on the right, north it's on the left, that's not my Favorite store either they only had cheaper fuel. Morning no breakfast lol. Not been their in 3 years though.
Thanks for the heads up on Loves RV spots. It was on my radar when we finally leave to head to Florida. You sure the stings weren't from those giant kamikaze mosquitos 😅 Bob you have to try that French Vanilla spray. If you don’t want to spell heavenly, then at least try the 50/50 apple cider vinegar/water spray for them sqeeters. The vinegar smell clears up after a minute. Safe travels. Arizona for us after Florida.
@@liferedesigned make sure you look @ the product name and maker/distrib. I see a few of the others out there copy the unit. I got the 2 pack from Ocean (Calgary based) and saved a few bucks. It works great.
Now for a completly off topic question, y'al mentioned that you had a smaller truck pulling your tow vehicle prior to your current one. What did you ues to use? We're considering anTat about the size of your MLE, and i have a beefed up Ram 1500. Liked the pick up story😂
Not a campground. Good idea for a quick overnight stop with electricity. Way overpriced! Cracker Barrel, my new go-to place. Park, sleep, eat breakfast, and go back on the road. Will not pay loves for overnight parking. Charge $35-40 for overnight, maybe. Love Cracker Barrel!
I do like the Love's RV Stop concept, but, their pricing is unfortunately a little silly... On a "gadget"note; Is that a WeBoost unit on the ladder? What's your real-world opinion on it?
We like Love's we have a gas truck and it's a rv safe one-stop shop for gas, food, dump, propane etc. We always use the 10 cents off a gallon, too. I find the bathrooms are better than TA or pilot and they have rv parking spots where we can stop and eat. Not to mention the dog parks that our miniature schnauzer loves to run in. Some are trashy compared to others, but overall, it is a good stop coast to coast. Have stayed at Love's RV stops we have a few saved for when we drive cross country and need an overnight with power we drive 15 hours a day and don't want to be far from the highway when we stop. We usually just need a safe (not illegal) place to park with power. My wife is on an oxygen machine, so cracker barrel is not an option for us. We like that we can check in late without having to deal with someone and expect the noise and imho like the lights for security. If you want something nicer go to KOA, if you want something cheaper go to a state park, but if you need a place to crash for a few hours Love's is the way to go. I am happy they are adding this to more locations. Find me an RV spot for one night in the winter in Florida....doubt you can without a reservation but I can stay at the Love's last minute. 😊
When I first heard about the Loves RV sites I thought it was a good idea. To me the concept should be like staying at Wal-Mart but with hookups for a few bucks. Just a place to rest and recharge. Then I found out the pricing and changed my mind. It shouldn't be priced like a campground, it should just be a rest stop with hookups. FAIL!
I can’t believe they have the nerve to charge so much! I’ve stayed at REAL campgrounds with trees and grass and picnic tables etc that charge way less! So sorry you had to deal with the wasps! I hope you complained and got a partial refund!
Oh come on Bob it's far from the heart lol. Please no disrespect just my scarcasm yet again. Here is one of for you guys why is it in the states the signs are 2 miles high. In Canada you don't see that but down there its crazy. Obviously so people can see them from the highway. I'm still in awe seeing them. So next time you're on the road and you see them you will think about the knuckhead in Canada. Take me some pictures. Dam I need a hobby. Finally I'm not looking for a thanks or an atta boy I just want to make sure you got what I sent for you birthday. I can only assume that you did. Again not at all to bring attention to it just to make sure. I have a way of screwing things up and someone on the other side of the world is getting money and saying to themselves who is this Bob guy???? Safe travels Kids 👍 🇨🇦
Hey! yes, I got a notice this morning - thank you so much, you didnt have to do that but it is greatly appreciated! You are 100% about the 2 mile high signs. Being from NH and VT we rarely see anything like that and are still in awe when we see them and the MASSIVE billboards down south.
@@liferedesigned nice so from now on when you see one you will think about that crazy guy in Canada. No it's a pleasure. It really is I just want to make people smile which is worth more than any amount of money. I also say that it's cheap entertainment. Not that you are cheap. OK maybe it depends on which one of you I'm talking to!🤭🤭🤭
@@liferedesigned that's the idea. Happy Birthday. I think that I have a year on him. I'm Sept 2/72. K go away I have trucks to fix. Let's hope my boss doesn't know who Nvragn is. Lol. You guys know do you not? Nvragn aka Never again.

ah yes -- they Try-it diet, know that one well lol
We have stopped at Love's all over the country when we are traveling between locations. Never had a problem at any of them. Yes the price is higher but that is all over the place not just loves.
Love's has an incredible opportunity to provide a quality experience, however with surge pricing and lack of maintenance it will remain off our list. Interestingly enough, the KOA right down the road as well as 2 other actual RV parks were cheaper by at least $10. Will check back in about a year to see where these places are at once the "new" wears off.
Bucc-ees is our favorite stop no semi allowed deisel is cheap and their are many food items to choose from I like the brisket sandwich
a must stop every time we pass one!
Price is crazy, thanks for the information. I have a 2024 f150 power boost and I can run my rv ac off my truck. I have a 7.3 kilowatt plug in the bed to hook up my rv So I can stay overnite anywhere.
Right on That is the way to do it!
always keep some benydrel
we do now!
Thank you.
Oh man sorry to hear about your ear 😅. 🌷Thank You for sharing your experiences I enjoy you two very much.
Thanks for watching!
Hello Bob & Karri I’m sorry that you had to go through that. From McPherson KS.
all part of the fun - we take it in stride... after Bob stops swearing of course lol
I think I would have preferred to be stung at Panera, at least there was good food lol
@@liferedesigned thats a good one. !!
Did you see any bears or turkeys in case code?
I hope you at least had a good experience here in my home state of Tennessee
We always love it here in TN. Have a couple more stops over the next 2 weeks but will be sad to leave! Beautiful time of year to be here!
@@liferedesigned , Enjoy your Tennessee stay.
work in Ac always carry wasp and hornet spray
Yep! This is now considered a must and not just a best practice!
The spray is on our list for sure - bugs love BOb!
You two are too funny!!!! ;-)
and to think, we don't even try lol
Did you see any bears or turkeys in case code? And you can ride bicycles around it.
No turkeys. We did see a glimpse of a cub on the way out.
Great video, sorry about the ear. (did u ever check out the Toastie Microwave Sandwich Maker from Ocean?)
Not yet! But is on our list, just waiting for a spot to get mail :)
@@liferedesigned make sure you look @ the product name and maker/distrib. I see a few of the others out there copy the unit. I got the 2 pack from Ocean (Calgary based) and saved a few bucks. It works great.
How are the rest areas off I75 in Tennessee? I heard rumblings they were going to make them migrant shelters . . ?
in a Republican State such as TN that would be a surprise for sure - they were fine when we were at them.
Now for a completly off topic question, y'al mentioned that you had a smaller truck pulling your tow vehicle prior to your current one. What did you ues to use?
We're considering anTat about the size of your MLE, and i have a beefed up Ram 1500.
Liked the pick up story😂
We had a 2015 GMC 1500. The 22MLE was within spec and pulled okay but nothing like our Ram 2500. We hardly know it is back there!
@@liferedesigned Thanks much!
I would be a little irritated if I paid surge pricing and there were only two RVs in the lot.
Great point! Bob is so not a fan of surge pricing lol, wait till I point this out 🤣🤣
Keep it up and you will be blocked from using the loves nation wide lol
no doubt!
That is how we felt but 95 degrees during the day and 82 overnight changed our mind pretty quick. Oh the price we pay for a/c lol
@@liferedesigned I have bluetti ac200 for overnight, to run heater mostly, not sure how long ac will go
We have a small generator that can run our A/C but hate dragging it out. May be what we do next time for sure!
Only thing cheaper for nightly nowadays is state parks but those arent on the highways lol
Very true. Although there was a KOA down the road that was cheaper by about $8 but we thought this would be faster - lol, live and learn!
@@liferedesigned lol yep only a few wasp stings and 8 bucks more 😂
I do like the Love's RV Stop concept, but, their pricing is unfortunately a little silly...
On a "gadget"note; Is that a WeBoost unit on the ladder? What's your real-world opinion on it?
I honestly don't see much of a gain any more from WeBoost - I am just too lazy to take it down. My opinion, skip it!
@@liferedesigned thanks, much appreciated! gimmicks like that can be expensive lessons to learn from...
FAIL!
exactly. We think for maybe 25- $35 a night it would be perfect but what we paid was ridiculous!
Just dont stay there. We love them and use them alot crossing the country. But I have not run into one that cost that much. $67.
yes that was a bit much for what it was - ironically, the KOA down the road was cheaper
I can’t believe they have the nerve to charge so much! I’ve stayed at REAL campgrounds with trees and grass and picnic tables etc that charge way less! So sorry you had to deal with the wasps! I hope you complained and got a partial refund!
We didn't, we just packed up and moved on. No worries, just part of the experience - live and learn lol
OK maybe it depends on which one of you I'm talking to!🤭🤭🤭
Bob is over there laughing his ass off right now lol
@@liferedesigned that's the idea. Happy Birthday. I think that I have a year on him. I'm Sept 2/72. K go away I have trucks to fix. Let's hope my boss doesn't know who Nvragn is. Lol. You guys know do you not? Nvragn aka Never again.
It's a user error, I'm sure. But don't see Darrin's info.
Hey Doug - should be all fixed now in the video description, Etsy store link is: www.etsy.com/listing/1560759444/rv-drip-diverter-for-rv-air-conditioner
If the place is 90% empty, why were they charging surge pricing.

thought about it but it puts Bob right to sleep
Weird i tried to like your video...YT wont let me.😢
Huh, strange.
You stayed at a truck stop. What did you expect?
Maybe for it to be taken care of a bit more….at least a walk through…
All those wasp is unacceptable, Are you going to ask for a refund?
Nah, we just packed up and moved on.
You pay for convenience of electricity. Of course you are going to have noise; it’s a truck stop! 🚛
No excuse for their non-maintenance though. Loves needs to keep on top of safety issues like that. Having said that, can’t judge all locations on the poor maintenance of a single location.
Glad you are not allergic to wasps. 💕🙏🏻
It does set the tone though as this was our first time staying at one.
If the place is 90% empty, why were they charging surge pricing.
