Stringjoy is awesome. I use them for my 7 string guitars because of the variety they offer. The feel and last about the same as D'Addario NYXL sets I use on my 6 string guitars.
Man I have not been able to find an RA600 since you told me about them. I still think if they released it again it would sell out again. Still want one.
I said the same thing about my 1989 Steinberger. Then a water pipe broke and flooded it. At least the neck was graphite! Now it’s a true relic to be played and still might make the grave with me.
You make a great point about the strings. I love Ernie Ball strings but I’ve restrung a couple of my guitars multiple times recently and a couple of the strings were just off…yes they come in a sealed plastic package but I wouldn’t doubt if that’s done in a completely different warehouse through a third party packaging company. Could also just be me too Nice video Rob!!
That guitar is beautiful man, I’ve always loved the pick guard. Metal with class. I might be in the minority but I love the room audio, it feels authentic. Congrats on the new partnership too… well deserved!
Everyone I know that plays Stringjoy strings say the same thing, I gotta remember to get some. Man you have taught me a lot of stuff, I started dating and putting the guage size on piece of tape on my guitars, the nomad cleaning tool set is amazing, sound advice brother
Still remember being a young, aspiring player, and seeing this in the old catalogs ESP/LTD would send to mom and pop shops. Dope to see you still loving it! Well, I suppose that was your sig, but the sentiment remains. Haha
I have a bury me guitar too. Its a 2001 gibson gothic SG ive been playing for 20 years live. Its beat up and been thru 3 sets of pickups. Its 12th fret logo is tattoo’d on my leg
I remember having the ra-600 and yeah I know BUT what a guitar seriously underrated and the damn thing stayed in tune all the time. Ill probs buy another at some point... so sexy
Don’t get me twisted. That RA3 is gorgeous and I’d jump at the chance to get my hands on one… but that RA2 ?!? That guitar makes me wanna be a better man. Min 22:00 = uncontrollable head banging 👏👏👏👏❤️ I purchased the 212 invective cab due to Rob’s endorsement. 6 months later and I still adore it. 🫵👍 The man knows his stuff.
It makes you want to be a better man!🤣 Haha I love it Todd! If I ever get the chance to reissue the RA-600's in any way, I will fight tooth and nail to offer a non-pick guard option as well, for all the RA-2 fans out there! I think of it like cars with a convertible option... Some like a hardtop, some like convertibles! Stoked to hear you're loving your Invective!! 🙌
I want one of these so bad man! I love that guitar!!!! I agree it's perfect, the offset inlays, single humbucker, the binding, the pick guard, everything about this guitar is exactly how I would want my own to be! Someday I will find at least the 600, killer guitar dude!
Na, the pick guard version all the way. It stands out. It’s reminiscent of a Strat, but it’s instantly recognizable as the RA-600/RA-3. That’s awesome you got a stringjoy link, I’ve been wanting to try them out because they carry some really awesome uncommon gauges and sets that other companies don’t. This gives me an excuse to buy some lol.
Hi Rob, looking mighty fine! Pearl pickguards and binding bug me off, but seeing your enthusiasm for this guitar is pure joy. I've been a fan since high school. Keep killing it, man!
Hi Rob! I always thought it was the RA-4 or maybe its because it looks so beautiful with that painting job ❤ I remember from the desert island guitars video 😂 I think .. Maybe Im wrong , anyways I waited to the end , the best part : when the n° 1 plays!! Thank you for the video 🤘🏻🙌🏻🥇
I love my RA-600 man. Super glad I found one from one of your Patreon subscribers who had a few and sold me one. It took 7 years to find one. Now go get Chimaira back together and restart production so I can buy another ;)
"This guitar is a beaut!!! " In my fake Australian accent 😍 🤩 I'm so excited for July Driving from Florida again taking a week off work paid! Rob I'm curious how long your set will be. I know the set list will be 🔥 so I won't even ask lol. Also curious if you know what time y'all will be on yet? See you soon brother much love ❤
Awesome Chris! I can't reveal any info about the setlist, and unfortunately I don't know what time we'll play yet. I'm sure we'll find out as it all gets closer!
The guitar you want to be buried with. You and Sammy Duet should meet up and talk about that sometime. Fitting you're both ESP artists and both guitars are your custom shops. It doesn't quite appeal to me, since I'm not a fan of super strats or the short scale length, but I won't deny she is a real beauty of a guitar. Metal yet classy. I'm not normally a huge fan of scratch plates either, but on this one it just fits. I can't help but be extremely jealous of it though, even if it's not quite my spec. The closest I've gotten was my MP-600 and that thing played like a dream, I can only imagine how well a guitar made at the custom shop plays. Shred on!
21:11 pretty much establishes what you're playing through as my dream rig. Sick 🪓 too! Btw I actually like the acoustics of the room more than if you miced 🎤 the cab. 👊
Yeah just the bridge EMG 81 humbucker required. No tone control -just muddies the tone. I like the binding but cannot get on with Floyds personally, but nice guitar choice in great condition.
Pffh man I totally understand. The moment that guitar came out I was hooked but it always slipped out of my hands back in the day, I was young and couldn't get the funds together on time. But now I put the order in for your top E2 guitars coverage you did, the white E2, M2 with the Fishmans in white will be mine. Already own the black E2 eclipse, what an incresible guitar. In the Netherlands I also saw a shop with that black natural burst you like, its so awesome, maybe I can work something out with that shop🤙
I loved this video. Thank you so much for sharing Rob! I never listened to your music or band but discovered you from UA-cam and you're awesome. I'm glad you went with the pickguard option. I went to see when the last LTD RA600 sold and it was like over 2k. That's so cool to have people that would want your signature.
More RA-3?! Yes sir!! 🔥🤘🏻 Edit: I still remember your first reaction to Stringjoy strings. So happy to hear about the Stringjoy hook-up! I love those close-up shots. After all that touring she's still in great condition. She got refretted at any point?
I polished them sometime last year, and ended up scratching the fretboard in a couple areas around frets 1-5. You can see it in the video if you look closely. I'm super upset about it! I've often wondered though, what would it feel like with brand new frets?🤔@@miyaaaaw
Would a fresh re-fret feel better? Probably Would it feel worse? Hopefully not Would it be pretty nerve-racking to hand over your baby? Absolutely (IMO🙂)
I was wondering about those marks while you were getting ready to play, then you started playing and the marks went away somehow 😄 Looks like you sanded across the grain a little. Luckily it's an easy enough fix, just sand them with the grain :) In the close-ups they don't look deep at all. Carefully and lightly sanding those scratches with 1000 grit sandpaper or above(I like 1500), with the grain should blend them with the rest of the board. After oiling the fretboard it should be like they were never there. I would do just one from start to finish and get the feel for it and the result. Doing the others would be easy then. Just my two cents :) In the unlikely scenario of anything going south, it wouldn't be any harder for a good luthier to fix it than it is now anyway. Sorry for the long post, again 😅@@RobArnoldWorld
I would love to have one of your RA600 guitars but every time I am fortunate to see one come up for sale, I never have the money lol! Glad I’m not the only one who likes a wound 3rd string too!
Thanks dude! And a new sig would probably be fairly similar, but of course with some fresh touches. But honestly I tell myself not to spend much time thinking about it, until the possibility actually becomes a reality.
this is my dream guitar. but with a hardtail bridge. I suck at Floyd's and I change tunings alot on my guitar daily. yes I'm a 1 guitar kind of guy lol
Ive had my eye out for one of these for a while. I've seen a few pop up on reverb overseas but I don't trust international shipping all the way to Ohio.
This guitar is definitely the holy grail of you guitars. Just a pure classic metal machine. You know these style videos put the hugest smile on my face. Thank you. One question Professor, any neck dive with all those string change tapes on the headstock? Hahaha. You're the best Rob!!! HMOE!
It looks dope. Emg 81, volume, bam. I prefer same color pickguard but this is nice. Congratulations on creating an iconic guitar design to call your own 🤘🤘
Thanks Patrick! And I'm glad to hear you've been jamming Bloodlust! One of my all time favorite Chim tunes! I've got a video on it in case you haven't seen it! ua-cam.com/video/RIV-rxF_IxA/v-deo.html
@@RobArnoldWorld Yes sir, I forgot about that song, it is like a ton of bricks, and has such a great solo! The tab Oli worked on was also helpful 😉 Happy Sunday I hope you have great day
Well I've been loving and playing ESP/LTD for 20+ years, and know them like the back of my hand. I really only touched my first Jackson less than a year ago. But I am loving my new Jacksons, and I'm still getting to know them! Right now, it's just one big happy family around here, and I like that.
If I remember correctly, The RA-600 had 24.75 scale length rather than the usual 25.5 of other superstrats. I take it you prefer the shorter scale length?
Thanks @miyaaaaw just watched the video. So there was no real reason behind the choice of the 24.75 scale choice. Is the RA-3 24.75 as well? It's an absolute sick guitar, I am a sucker for single pickups, reverse headstocks and pickguards. This guitar having all 3 was right up my street. I remember the 'Resurrection' bonus documentary there was a part where you were playing 'Six' in the studio and the guitar looked like it was a dark red colour, like a mahogany or wine red and I thought it looked amazing.
@@individuo1177 Yes I believe it is. Even his gorgeous custom RA-5 is 24.75. I'm with you on it being an absolute sick axe. In EYL Ep.29 around 27min mark Rob first hands Hager the RA-3 then an MH1000. You can see the length difference there. Looks like people debated a lot over the scale length when the RA600 was released. And some people even right out dismissed the axe just based on that value without even touching the guitar. Whoever plays it says it plays like butter though and holds on to it. It's very hard to come by :) I have guitars in both scale lengths and the difference doesn't matter much to me. If anything I slightly prefer the 24.75. Mine has a 42mm nut though, I like 43mm better. So RA600 ticks all the right boxes for me, a true dream guitar. I think the scale length was destiny. I take it as a gift from metal gods 🙂
The guitar is fantastic, and I need to check out Stringjoy strings! Just invested in a custom V with an Evertune bridge and was looking at what strings to get for it! Oh, speaking of: is there a specific reason you go for a wound 20 rather than unwound?
Thanks man! Yes, I feel a wound third feels a little rounder and faster... where as a plain third, while still manageable, feels a little more square, if that makes sense. It's just a feel thing for me. Congrats on your new V!
(Mr) Rob I have a question that I've had a hard time finding a good answer for and thought you'd be the man to ask , i just purchased a mij Evh wolfgang with the top mounted Floyd R and all my previous guitars with F R were full floating , when I'm changing strings or changing tunings do I have to block the trem or re adjust the trem afterwards like on a floating system , in other words to I just make sure the bridge is laid flat and it's correct is there any thing special to do here for correct balance thank you sir
Hey man! Honestly, I don't have any experience with top mounted Floyds! But as far as I know, they can't tilt backwards, and the bar can only be dipped downwards, correct? If so, that eliminates half of the struggle! I'd say yes... you still need to worry about making sure the bridge is level, by balancing your tuning vs. string gauge vs. spring tension. But I'd assume it'll be much easier than a fully floating Floyd, because like I said, half of the struggle won't exist, since the bridge can't fall backwards down into the body.
@RobArnoldWorld yes and I went ahead a restrung it and it pretty much holds balance on its own kinda answered my I wn question I appreciate your response i.kust wasn't sure if it needed blocking but it did well thank you
Hej Rob. I was wondering what string height do you like to rock on this bad boys? You are a technical guy, I bet you got some numbers! Im still hunting one of these boys, but one day… ☝️ Keep rocking dude, appreciate you and Chimaira alot!
Thanks dude!👊 Actually there's no real measurements or anything technical about it! I just go by sight and feel. I like a nice low action. I talk a little more about this in my truss rid video if you're interested! ua-cam.com/video/ktiF2rysCW0/v-deo.html And I wish you luck on your hunt for an RA-600!
I seen your ra600 on Facebook marketplace but the owner ruined it with a black pickguard and a duncan p90 so I decided against it. Plus I've never owned a strat body
Hmm🤔 That's actually something I didn't truly consider. I mean I guess I assumed you could be buried with anything you want, as long as it fits in there with ya! But maybe there are some strange rules about that stuff? I dunno!
I actually did do a little spiel on ESP cases and how killer I think they are in one of my vids. It may have been towards the end of my m-1000ht review! ua-cam.com/video/A0862Tmekmk/v-deo.html
Haha I appreciate that man! My tech box here is actually pretty sweet, but yes, the cheap ass kitchen table cart I have it sitting on, is shaky! I actually do have a pro guitar work station in another room! Check it out if you're interested! ua-cam.com/video/ppXgJIltLV0/v-deo.html
All I want is an ESP but we're out of tue golden era, and the prices of US made, or even Japanese made has become seriously ridiculous. Some of the MIJ models are 4k. Anything with "ESP" on the headstock like that RA3 now costs AT THE VERY LEAST 5 thousand dollars... R.I.P. ESP, it's not a consumer name anymore.
Absolutely my dream guitar. I hope to have one in the near future. Just keep telling my self in wanyes world style [ It will be mine oh yes it will be mine.]
👆👆 THIS 👆👆!!! This here video is a great exampl... wait, NO!!!... It's THE PERFECT example of an outstanding musically inclined craftsman who happens to be an amazing human-being giving his favorite TOOL some TLC even though it's probably in near mint condition!! Same. RA-2 is gorgeous too but the pickguard was a great choice IMO. Instantly recognizable and iconic

I’ve had a crush on this guitar for 18 years.
When I think of you playing, I associate you to this model guitar. Definitely your guitar portray.
“Maybe it’ll get stolen before then” is wild 😂 Excited to see your partnership with stringjoy! I’ll have to give them a try soon. Congrats dude.

I can't believe it's been a year since the reunion shows already! Was by far the highlight of 2023 for me!

Fucking sick. I wish I would have picked one of these up when I still worked at ESP. 🤘
Awesome that you can say that though... that you worked at ESP!
I just seen a video " Chimaira - 20th Anniversary of "The Impossibility Of Reason" (5/13/23) " Then you talk about that guitar nice .
Cool strings i like shiny strings and Mark Morton uses them too. Rob you need the EMG Hex driver. 🤘😀
More RA-3?! Yes sir!! 🔥🤘🏻
Edit: I still remember your first reaction to Stringjoy strings. So happy to hear about the Stringjoy hook-up!
I love those close-up shots. After all that touring she's still in great condition. She got refretted at any point?
Thanks man! Nope, never had any guitars re-fretted.
@@RobArnoldWorld Any? Wow!
All that playing and your frets still look great!
Probably
Would it feel worse? Hopefully not
Would it be pretty nerve-racking to hand over your baby? Absolutely (IMO🙂)
I was wondering about those marks while you were getting ready to play, then you started playing and the marks went away somehow 😄
Looks like you sanded across the grain a little. Luckily it's an easy enough fix, just sand them with the grain :)
In the close-ups they don't look deep at all.
Just my two cents :)
In the unlikely scenario of anything going south, it wouldn't be any harder for a good luthier to fix it than it is now anyway.
Sorry for the long post, again 😅@@RobArnoldWorld
Another joyful string change video. The string sounded really good from the go. Would you go with a lower gage string Rob by this brand ?
Thanks Darren! Nope, these are my preferred gauges, and I use them for all tunings. On 7 string guitars though, I simply add an additional .60 gauge.
I would love to have one of your RA600 guitars but every time I am fortunate to see one come up for sale, I never have the money lol! Glad I’m not the only one who likes a wound 3rd string too!
Nice!
I hope he drops teasers of the new elite album.
Just recently picked up a LTD Black Metal M and I’m gonna try and make my own RA out of it. Just need to find a pickguard that with fit somehow
Nice! I suggest a site where you can get a custom pick guard in this video! ua-cam.com/video/Fp_ZWg7_u1c/v-deo.html
Awesome video! If you had the opportunity to have a new signature guitar, how would it be?
Thanks dude! And a new sig would probably be fairly similar, but of course with some fresh touches.
But honestly I tell myself not to spend much time thinking about it, until the possibility actually becomes a reality.
Awesome guitar! 👍💪🔥🤘
this is my dream guitar. but with a hardtail bridge. I suck at Floyd's and I change tunings alot on my guitar daily. yes I'm a 1 guitar kind of guy lol
Ive had my eye out for one of these for a while. I've seen a few pop up on reverb overseas but I don't trust international shipping all the way to Ohio.
Keep an eye out bro, and I wish you luck on your search!
This guitar is definitely the holy grail of you guitars. Just a pure classic metal machine. You know these style videos put the hugest smile on my face. Thank you. One question Professor, any neck dive with all those string change tapes on the headstock? Hahaha. You're the best Rob!!! HMOE!
👊😎
🤘😈🤘 definitely a beautiful guitar……sounded great like always🔥🔥🔥
It looks dope. Emg 81, volume, bam. I prefer same color pickguard but this is nice. Congratulations on creating an iconic guitar design to call your own 🤘🤘
And congrats on the new endorsement bro
Stringjoy are all the rage lately.
And funny....been learning Bloodlust all the same this week. That Riff burned into my brain
The tab Oli worked on was also helpful 😉
Happy Sunday I hope you have great day
That guitar is saaaaweet
Rob I’m so freaking hype yall are headlining INK fest. So wish I could make it. Y’all fellas deserve it!
What do you prefer esp/ltd or Jackson soloist
Well I've been loving and playing ESP/LTD for 20+ years, and know them like the back of my hand. I really only touched my first Jackson less than a year ago. But I am loving my new Jacksons, and I'm still getting to know them! Right now, it's just one big happy family around here, and I like that.
If I remember correctly, The RA-600 had 24.75 scale length rather than the usual 25.5 of other superstrats. I take it you prefer the shorter scale length?
It's a bit more complicated. You can hear it from him.
video title:
🎸The very FIRST RA-600 signature series ESP ltd guitar!
time: 6 minute mark
Thanks @miyaaaaw just watched the video. So there was no real reason behind the choice of the 24.75 scale choice.
Is the RA-3 24.75 as well?
It's an absolute sick guitar, I am a sucker for single pickups, reverse headstocks and pickguards. This guitar having all 3 was right up my street. I remember the 'Resurrection' bonus documentary there was a part where you were playing 'Six' in the studio and the guitar looked like it was a dark red colour, like a mahogany or wine red and I thought it looked amazing.
@@individuo1177
Yes I believe it is.
It's very hard to come by :)
I have guitars in both scale lengths and the difference doesn't matter much to me.
@@RobArnoldWorld Ah, that makes sense! I may have to give that a try too!
I'd let myself get buried with an ESP too if I had the money for a post-covid priced Esp with an actual "ESP" logo on the headstock
I have one picked out to go down with me,..but I may give it to one of my kids…never know 👊🏻😁
Good thing is, we have lots of time to decide! 👊😎
@@RobArnoldWorld hoping so👊🏻😅
Ohh man... perfect video for an ALMIGHTY SALES PITCH. HAHAH
@RobArnoldWorld yes and I went ahead a restrung it and it pretty much holds balance on its own kinda answered my I wn question I appreciate your response i.kust wasn't sure if it needed blocking but it did well thank you
Rob, hi!! Tell me, please, how high do you set the EMG 81 pickups from the strings? Thanks! Excuse me for my English)
Hello! I keep the pickup fairly close to the strings. Maybe a hair over an 1/8".
@@RobArnoldWorld спасибо🤝🤝🤝👍
You'd spend eturnity without a neck pup
Hej Rob. I was wondering what string height do you like to rock on this bad boys? You are a technical guy, I bet you got some numbers! Im still hunting one of these boys, but one day… ☝️
Keep rocking dude, appreciate you and Chimaira alot!
Thanks dude!👊
Actually there's no real measurements or anything technical about it! I just go by sight and feel. I like a nice low action. I talk a little more about this in my truss rid video if you're interested! ua-cam.com/video/ktiF2rysCW0/v-deo.html
And I wish you luck on your hunt for an RA-600!
When was the last time you had hair this long Rob? must be like 20 years now
Yessir! 20 years indeed!
I seen your ra600 on Facebook marketplace but the owner ruined it with a black pickguard and a duncan p90 so I decided against it. Plus I've never owned a strat body
When i see an ESP guitar with reverse headstock, always thinking about metallica😅
I will be buried with my Gibson Flying V, no ifs, ands, or buts 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Rob you fucking rule dude!
👊
No joke---is it really possible to be buried with your guitar?
Does Last will and Testament enough for it be possible?
Hmm🤔 That's actually something I didn't truly consider. I mean I guess I assumed you could be buried with anything you want, as long as it fits in there with ya! But maybe there are some strange rules about that stuff? I dunno!
Make video on esp cases lol. Think im trolling??? The ones for japanese market are defintely different!!!! Keep it up Rob
I actually did do a little spiel on ESP cases and how killer I think they are in one of my vids. It may have been towards the end of my m-1000ht review! ua-cam.com/video/A0862Tmekmk/v-deo.html
Was it me.. Or was it Matt Devries?
Would Love that guitar without the pointy headstock.
Bro, call me ignorant but what does “mfa” stand for when it comes to Matt Devries? 😅
Matt From Ascension!
Both Matt and original Chimaira guitarist Jason Hager, played together in a band called Ascension before Chimaira.
Bloody hell, i change my strings every 4 - 6 weeks, i thought that was the norm ha ha
No that's good! I'm overly fortunate to have an extensive arsenal. So rather than changing strings, I'll often just switch to another guitar! 🤘🤣
@@RobArnoldWorld Ha ha,fair doo's that's awesome!!
Reissue by ESP LTD needed.
I think us fans of rob should all chip in 10 bux and get him a proper guitar tech table and have him retire Ol Shakey! Whos In?
Haha I appreciate that man! My tech box here is actually pretty sweet, but yes, the cheap ass kitchen table cart I have it sitting on, is shaky! I actually do have a pro guitar work station in another room! Check it out if you're interested! ua-cam.com/video/ppXgJIltLV0/v-deo.html
If marty freidman or kirk hammett gifted you a guitar like eddie and dime, would you accept that instead? 🧐 if you had the choice that is
I would definitely accept a guitar from Marty or Kirk! 🙌

"Hey! Heh.. heheh heyyy, fuck you! Heh."
I tried the Stringjoy acoustics...absolutely dead after 3 days. I mean beyond dead...worst I've ever used. YMMV...
Bro don’t talk about "bury" and "if i ever go down" lol you re in your 40’s not freaking 80s lol you re freaking me out
🤘😏
Absolutely my dream guitar. I hope to have one in the near future. Just keep telling my self in wanyes world style [ It will be mine oh yes it will be mine.]
That's all you've got to keep saying bro, and hopefully one day it will! 🙌 🙌
Which is why I don't miss a video and he is my favorite guitarist to boot!!! #goals #inspiration #life-lessons #guitarmaintainence
Ps.. After I watched you re-string your old Barratone (atleast 4 times lol..) and heard you promote those Stringjoy Strings without any prior knowledge... I said yep.. It won't be long before #StringJoy has a new dang good promoter!!
