The Schecter part made me do a double take. Kinda explains why they feel like siblings though
The brands definitely have the same vibes and occupy a lot of the same spaces. It made so much sense when he said it, but I was definitely caught off guard
Same factory in Korea
I moved to Japan last year and didn’t understand all the unknown to me brands I was seeing in shops. This single video has single handedly explained all of them.
Are there any other brands you want to know about? I'm pretty educated. I have Tokais, Burnys, Edwards, Greco. The tough part is different eras of each company are where the best ones are found.
(In that case, I guess not all of them) what is the deal with Burnys and Edwards?
@@Aaron-zh4kjoh shit my fault. I meant to answer this. Can you be more specific? Is there a specific model or at least type of guitar you are looking for? I am old school so I can't tell you anything about metal guitars and except for a few Edwards I've seen, those two brands are not known for guitars of that sort anyway. Edwards is known mostly for Fender and Gibson replicas. They are made in China (supposedly they are finished and set-up in the ESP Japan factory) , but don't think of them like the average Chinese guitar. They are not just made in those huge Chinese factories that manufacture ten other brands. It's production level (meaning below custom shop level), but ESP production level which you know is great. I have an Edwards ES-335 replica with Seymour Duncan pickups. It fucking rules. It's better than most modern production level Gibsons (custom shop is a different ball game, Navigators are ESPs premium level F&G replicas that are on the custom shop level of those brands) that are at least $2200 new. I got one that was like 6-8 years old and in good, but not mint condition for like $750 before shipping. Amazing deal that I couldn't be more happy with.
@@Asshat237 Thanks loads for the info. In general recently, I like guitars with stainless steel frets, two humbuckers, if possible not a strat shape, 22 or 24 frets is okay, a two point tremolo. and in general darker colored fretboards. In short, I like modern but classy (not crazy metal-looking) super strats, things like EVH, Suhr, and Friedman.
Make no mistake. LTD Korea are very good road worthy instruments! M-1000 owner since 2007. Still play almost everyday.
bought an 05 in Ec1000 back in 06. sold it in like 2010. still one of the best guitars i ever owned. miss that guitar 😅
ESP has been at it for a long time. I have an 86' Kramer Pacer American which has both a neck (3 piece) and body made by ESP for Kramer at the time. It's still one of my favorite guitars.
Schecter has really upped their game in the past few years. They were always pretty good but their newer models are phenomenal for the price point. I recently bought a silver mountain c1 and i absolutely love that guitar. Plays like a dream.
Bought a Blue Reign super shredder for my 24th last year. Used for about $850. Thing looks, feels and sounds amazing! As a bonus it also has the sustainer built in, but even the standard super shredder models also look great. Lamborghini orange comes to mind of my favorite color.
I remember the old Schecter, that were truly great and as expensive as Gibson.Every builder made some concessions to survive , and they were really destroying their rep for a while. The affordable models reminded me of Dean, - almost unplayable.Glad they made it back.Along with Charvel, I always have to stop and check them out.
Does anyone know if I can order a Navigator, Edward's or Grassroots new? I live in America and I think thier guitars look amazing. Can I order a new one or do I have to go used market?
I have an ESP LTD bass and am very pleased with it
The best guitars on the planet…but the prices are getting a little stupid.
Yea , I was always a diehard Gibson Les Paul fanatic until I tried an Eclipse at a local Music Store . I bought it right then . I didn't touch my Les Pauls for a long time . I wore out the Eclipse Frets pretty dam quick cuz I practice 4 or 5 hours a day . So yea , I agree with you , best Guitars on the Planet for sure . 🎸
But they've been cranking up the prices over the last couple of years . I hope they don't get ridiculous like Gibson has . Then I wouldn't be able to afford another Eclipse either . Hope you're doing well Dude .
A lot of flagship brands are getting a little out of control with the prices. That’s why brands like Harley Benton, AIO, Firefly, Epiphone and even Squier have been stepping up the quality game quite a bit. If you told me I could get a actually great playing Squier for $500 ten years ago, I’d tell you you’re lying and not very well. Now they have the Classic Vibe which actually play and sound pretty damn good right from the get-go! Also tried a 40th anniversary Squier strat not too long ago and again I was checking the headstock repeatedly to see the name again. Epiphone however, since they moved from Indonesia to China, it’s cut back the costs quite a bit and the QC has slipped a bit as a result. But hey the money for an Epiphone now is even great! Can buy a new Epiphone Les Paul custom with quality burstbuckers and a full fledge ebony fretboard and full Gibson 7ply body binding now! That never would of happened even 6 years ago due to the cost of material being too high. So it’s a good time for the underdog brands to come into the light and especially Harley Benton, they have come full force into the spotlight. At least every major UA-camr guitarist that I watched have nothing but good things to say about them.
@@gameroftheyear1000 Hey how are you doing ? Thanks for all the info . My first Guitar was an Epiphone Les Paul , I don't remember the model number . All white with black trim , Gold hardware . This was before I had any skills with doing a Setup or any Guitar maintenance at all .
I had taken it to the local Music Store a few times to have them set it up for me and each time they gave it back to me in worse condition . Worse condition meaning barely playable . Action was so high that I could barely bend any of strings . Anyway , you get the point on that Epi .
Last year I bought a Harley Benton from a guy here in my Hometown in Upstate New York .
He had played it only a few times . No Fret wear at all . The Neck is amazing . Not quite as thin as Ibanez but very close . Kind of like my '96 Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite .The Fretboard is
very smooth and well made .
And the Guy was only asking for $ 100 so I drove to his place pretty dam quick . Anyway , I'm quite sure my next Guitar will be a Harley Benton with the Stainless Steel Frets . Because of my OCD I've spent quite a bit of money on having my Guitars being Re - Fretted . Even though I have a friend who is a top notch Pro Luthier . But anyway , I do appreciate you explaining how the Guitar building process takes place across Seas . Hope you and your Family are doing well and staying safe . 🎸 😎 🎸
Agreed. My ESP Eclipse cost me €1899 brand new from Thomann 10 years ago. Now they're selling for €2500.
Didn't know all this, thanks for info. Great pics, too!
This is quickly becoming my favorite channel.. Rock on!
Spicy opinion, I feel ESP really had no sense making the EII line. They should've kept it as ESP Standard. I wish ESP had enough faith in all levels of production above LTD to proudly slap their actual logo on a guitar.
Correct answer
Very true but damn the logo looks cooler ngl
Yeah, I always thought that was a terrible rebranding. It somehow conveyed "second tier." Which is, I suppose, technically correct (compared to Tokyo Custom Shop stuff), but ESP already had the (deserved) recognition as a top-tier pro instrument with the Standard production line, and these are the same guitars.
That said, E-II have a Fishman-equipped white version of the single-pickup, string-thru M-1 (with push/pull volume knob for voicing!) that I kinda need. ;)
I had no idea Schecter an ESP were related but it kind of makes sense why the Horisont series looks so much like the hell raiser
You forgot Killer and Takamine.
Killer and Takamine are not owned by ESP, they have a distribution partnership.
@@guitarzen5999 Takamine sponsors acoustics for ESP's endorsees. Killer has been owned by ESP since they were brought back by Akira Takasaki, who actually owns the name now.
You just disagreed with @guitarzen by explaining how Takamine isn't part of ESP.
Providing acoustic guitars for someone doesn't mean they are part of a company that that someone is endorsed by. It just means they gave them acoustic guitars.
where can I find the Edwards?
I wish ESP could make the explorers they once did!
Blame Gibson
A friend had a mid 80s esp horizon custom. What a great guitar
I ended up trying a GrassRoots John Sykes model, I was actually stunned at even a budget model, it felt really and sounded great, it certainly shows how much the ESP company on the whole put thought and recognition in making quality instruments at any price point.
Favorite Schecter’s are the tempest, omen series, and Hell raiser a series.
ESP , the eclipse, Alexi-200, KH-2, Snakebite, viper
Check out their super shredders, thing is a super strat on crack.
It’s awesome that you put the subtitles over the headstocks. Genius.
I didn't know that schecter & esp were under the same family tree! Looking back now, the feeling of em both kinda makes sence cuz when i played a schecter, i felt like i was playing a cousin of esp or something.
Thanks for sharing
I bought a Schecter Omen 3 months ago for less than $500. I now own 3 Schecters. They’re unbelievable and I reach for them before my Les Pauls and PRSs.
Thank you so much, man. This is the best I could found about ESP's.
I have many guitars. My ltd 1987 t style without a doubt is the best playing guitar I own!!
my guitar is a schecter omen 6, love that guitar
That was my first guitar, but I sold it for rent money. 😢 Also, amethyst is my birth stone.
@@ShadowSloth3 man selling a guitar for rent is tough, hope things are looking up and you can get another. Also cool, I'm pretty sure it's mine too.
Not a lot of people know this, but LTD and Schecter are made on the same production line. A Hellraiser C-1 and an MH-1000 are literallt the exact same guitar, with a few visual changes.
Hellraisers dont have SS frets and all 1000 series LTDs do now. Although many other Schecters have ss frets. The sls elites are even better than the 1000 series and cheaper than the new ones thay are 1500 usd
Thank you so much for explaining grassroots was confused to what they were
I’ve got a 4-knob ESP standard Eclipse that I got second hand for a great deal years ago and it’s still my favourite guitar.
I wish they didn’t switch to the E-II branding. Now I’ll probably never be able to afford another guitar with ESP on the headstock 😆
Hands up everyone who loves the "E-II" logo on their headstock
Nahh I am good w my "ESP" one😅
ME it just looks better on the headstock
Some of the LTD are now reaching the price of EII guitar, make no sense whatsoever at this point.
Preorder the new HEX6, 2500€. it's just fucking insane
They even have a model that cost 3000€+.
Nobody is forcing you to buy them, are they? Just buy something else, dude.
@@castleanthrax1833 Here's a life lesson for you.
You can criticize a company or a product and still enjoy said product or company, criticizing doesnt mean hating. Seem like a lot of people doesnt understand that basic concept.
Nah, i wont buy something else, but i'm paying for the product, i enjoy the product, so i have the right to criticize it how i see fit.
The point here is that Agu said that LTD is supposed to be the affordable counterpart of EII, but that's point is becoming false because the high end LTD are reaching the same price point as EII.
Also i'll answer another comment you made about the Les Paul, they are indeed not sold in USA, those are sold exclusively in Japan ( but you can also find them in China or Russia, basically pretty much anywhere where Gibson copyright claims is just toilet paper )
You can often find them on Reverb, either from individual sellers, or sometimes store in Japan who decided to sell internationaly. the first being the most common.
The price can varry, but usually count on average 1500$ for them.
Do one for fender
you forgot to mention Edwards are what they use in Japan for their budget Signature Series guitars instead of LTD
Im just blown away by Schecter
Just found out today about, grassroots. I’ve been solely an Ibanez , Jackson man! I really want another les Paul so fukn bad!!!! But not another epi, i love epi phone. Im just not into the headstock. Thats why i want a Gibson. But the one i want is a lot. Now I’m seeing these ESP models and really like them.
Actually before being named E-II or esp standard you had LTD elite for a year before they realised they were being sold too cheap
I've got one of them. Fantastic instruments.
@@AWMJoeyjoejoe Same I have an LTD Elite Horizon II in Reindeer Blue and it's fantastic, also funny to see ESP stop LTD elite and relaunch them as E-II fro twice the price literally a month after I got it :D
I have an LTD M-1000 that I picked up a couple years ago. It has a maple fretboard, which I think might be rare because anytime I’ve seen other M-1000’s they always have a brown fretboard. Is there a way to find out if it’s rare, or find out how many they made with each type of fretboard in a given year? I think it’s a 2014 based on serial#
Edwards guitars are killer, i have two alongside a couple Gibsons and they rival the sound and feel they have pretty heavily. but there's nothing like holding a Gibson, like you just feel the quality. but Edwards guitars are EXCELLENT
I would love to have a Japanese epi.
Ltd less expensive but still not affordable for most models. Anyway esp eclipse e-ll fade blue are my dream guitars.. Or any dB, BB model ❤❤❤
Heres to playing schecter guitars brother🤘🏾😎
Esp great had a94 bass narrow neck fastmachine on Elegy album Supremacy😅🎉🎉🎉🎉❤🎉🎉
Didn’t know about Schecter. Very cool though
I have an Edwards ES-335. It's my pride and joy. I'm trying to get a Navigator when the right deal presents itself. To get the great gib and fender replicas from those and the other elite replica makers you have to buy from Japan. I'm always on Yahoo Japan Auctions.
I'm thinking to buy myself a beginner Guitar so I can learn it with Rocksmith together..
Should I get the ESP LTD EC10 or Epiphone Special II?
Looking hard at a LTD six string bass. Plays amazing for the cost.
Are those Les Paul copies still manufactured, and if so, where in the world are they sold? I'm assuming they aren't sold in the USA?
They still make the 3-knob eclipses but they stopped making the 4-knob eclipses after Gibson hit them with a lawsuit.
LTD "Affordable"
These are incredible instruments .
They are so good , that you can only find minor floors through a microscope at x 1000 zoom .
Bring back ESP logo
I’ve always gravitated to these brands cause they just make cool looking guitars that are consistently good.
Love my edwards !
I didn’t realise they could still get away with such similar headstock shapes.
They can with Navigator because they're domestic market only.
Got esp mh 300, korea
Japanese metal guitar manufacturer that make expensive guitar, done
ESP, - great doorstops and boat anchor's.
Just insert modern Gibson in there as well. Anything from ‘04 onwards is more of decorative, expensive firewood to me. God knows Gibson didn’t care about making quality instruments after they started splitting production between the standard models in the regular factory and the custom line and anything custom speced into the Gibson custom shop. They only care about the custom shop now. Everything else in the regular factory is mass produced, expensive garbage.
@@gameroftheyear1000 Agreed.
On the other hand, I've an SG Pro( that I put Railhammer P90's in) , and a Firebird ( with vintage Mini humbuckers) that I've tweaked into killer road guitars.I would def go Reverend, Yamaha Road star, and maybe even PRS SE ( like the Santana model) before I resorted to Gibson.Damn shame, since my first serious ride was a The Paul.
I'm just as confised after watching the video as i was before
Now I gotta get to japan, to try out and buy some japan-exclusive ESPs, thank you Hunter (the bank won't survive this fucking venture, I'm 100% sure)
I think there neat
I'm poor-ish, I can at least afford the midrange ltd's. I just got my viper-256 yesterday
didn't know that shecter shared the same founder!
Not the same founder, just the same owner. Schecter was started completely independently then Mr Shibuya bought the company in 1987
@@agufish thanks for clearing information
your channel's review has helped me a lot in choosing what gear I should buy
I LOVE ESP!!!!!!
SAME HERE!!!!!!!!
I’ll take a Fuji gen LP 👍
So are Edwards made in China or Japan?
Now tell people how to buy them!!
Explain Epiphone ... please
Some of the Ltd's are far from cheap
My advise go japanese.
FJN IS BETTER
Crap 😂😂😂
One day I'll get me an ESP USA
