I put that same carburetor on my 250 Hawk. I also upgraded the exhaust pipe. For power? The hills I used to go up and had to some times shift down into 3rd gear, now I can stay in 5th. I'm a big guy. 40 degree hill at an full stop in the middle of it, way no problems taking off. 45 back tooth and 17 front. For the engine? Only an oil cooler. No other modifications to the motor. Way more power then I will ever use. Only problem I had with the carburetor. Where I live I had to drop the needle to the lowest setting. Other then Idle Jet was to big. Dropped it down and then set my main jet. Hatted it at first. Now I love it. For sound I'm out doing the Harley-Davidson. Now they dont show off around me. I do. Just doing that I turned my Hawk into an really cool monster. Love the thing and that carburetor is yes a pain to get it set but amazing when it is. Take care.
Great video with lots of tuning !! You did everything right ! 😁👍👍 I was going to say the same thing as another subscriber; I think at this point you are limited by the head's CFM with the small valves. About 25 years ago I did something similar with a radio controlled boat. It had a 22cc 2-stroke McCullough. I took the engine out and mounted it to a weed wacker shaft and line head to act as a 'dyno' and give it a load. A digital engine tachometer gave me "data". I tried 3 or 4 different bigger bore carburetors from various weed wackers and small chsinsaws. All had same mounting pattern, fuel pump diaphragm pulse holes, and Hi & Lo needle valve screws. No matter what I tried, the stock carb (smallest bore) gave the best RPM. So i put the stock carb back in 🤷♂️ lol. Hey I have the same DeWalt (rubbermaid) cooler as you, its over 20 years old I think. Serves me well on countless road trips thru VT and NH. Cheers from Saratoga!! 🍻🍻
I've watched this video a few times, best video on adjusting carbs I've seen anywhere. Good info since I just ordered a Vader clone last week. I plan to keep the 125 (at least for a while), and I plan to ride it off road, too.
Nobody talks about the best carb that there is and I’m kinda glad because they aren’t sold out yet 😂😂. I’ll share once I order one and not until then for obvious reasons 😂😂👍🏼
Pretty cool little experiment you did here with the different carbs. I do like how simple they are, but it can be a challenge sometimes. You are right though, the Nibbi will be better suited for something that can move more air. The engine is nothing more than a pump... I'll tell you what would be cool, if they made some kind of fuel injection kit! That is the kind of stuff I'd like to experiment more with!

I have a large NIBBI in my wish list on Amazon for my YZ 465 build. Surprisingly, the NIBBI is actually cheaper than the stock Mikuni and far cheaper than the alternative which is a Lectron carb. Since I don't have the bikes original carb I'm gonna try a NIBBI on it. When I'm able to buy all of my parts that is. :)
In indonesia we use all type of that carb (PE SERIES) easy setting but you must install velocity stack to get the best result of Air fuel mixure. If you install a pod filter like that, it's hard to get the best result. Cheers🙌
Years ago I put a Dellorto racing carb on a mini bike that had a Tecumseh 4.5 hp flathead with a tube exhaust, belt drive centrifical clutch jackshafted to a chain. It would either smoke the tire or wheelie. That carb unleashed a lot of ponies. The nitro may have helped too. This emogi describes my face after whacking the throttle open 😵
I'm still torn, I see the joy of wrenching on the cheaper bikes & saving a TON of cash vs picking up a honda & just hitting the road/trails. MotoCheez wait, so you got rid of the Honda too? I hadn't noticed. That was a nice bike, but I didn't see it doing anything that your DRZ or even the Hawk wasnt able to do.

10x rule again for your intake. (Just like with the corrugated intake on ?Dumpie? was it?) That new carb has a much bigger throttle bottle bore over the stock intake. The semi-immediate air flow step down into the carb and possible out of the carb is experiencing a lower average air velocity through the carb then stock due to turbulence. You need a bigger intake if not also some porting of the head to run that carb.
Hey Moto ,enjoy watching your exploration haha....it’s always been the same, trying to get the best performance you can without increasing the bore, you made good progress for a motor that fits in your hand. But that’s what makes you tick. Most people just say ,ooh you can’t do that blah blah blah .... but Moto says..let’s see what we can do ! I have the 115 nibbi jettings and a 115 unbranded jets you can get from motorcycle shops. They are different sizes the 115 nibbi jets are smaller despite the same number size. But when I check the 122-125 nibbi jettings, it turned out to be the same with the 115 unbranded jettings? I dunno if its only me with the nibbi brand jets?
Should really open up the exhaust too see the difference, it would definitely help breath or flow, could smooth out the exhaust port and the header pipe to match
I have a stock PZ26 on my KP Mini 150, Trying APZ27I have opened up the air Box I've installed aftermarket performance pipe runs and pulls very well but I am getting a missing in a popping in 1st gear at about quarter throttle, 115 main jet 42 pilot jet needle clip 2nd from the bottom,, Maybe too large of a pilot jet?? ( The popping and missing seems to be happening at quarter ish throttle 1st and low 2nd gear
So I know that you sold your Brozz 250, but would you purchase one for in town and fire road/dirt road/powerline riding? I’m new to off road riding, have been street riding for 27 years. I’m looking to expand my types of riding. I would appreciate your thoughts, I love your shows!
So your running a 40 pilot and 120 main. I have the nibbi 24 and having issues with blipping the the throttle. Just falls on its face or back fires an dies. Running a 35 pilot and 108 main with needle clip 2nd from the bottom. If i ease into it its fine. Mixture screw is 1 turn out.
I thought the same thing on ours I have similar videos I finally got the nibbi dialed in and released a video on it they are so finicky. You have done almost everything right mine is on a ssr 125 so very similar motor. I personally prefer the cheap amazon mikuni over the nibbi. I had to run a 120 main and 48 pilot but if you have your air screw off by just a tad. These carbs run like garbage it may be because they are machines so nice that the air isn’t getting disrupted. I know someone running a 28mm on there ssr 125 and it runs great so too big in this case is not actually the case. Great video love the content just wanted to share my experience with you as well.
I might put a 26mm nibbi on my kz200 scrambler build. Free flow exhaust is all that’s done. Stock head. KZ250 internals will fit the 200 case which sounds like an option in the future. I love small bikes if they’re zippy.
Thanks. Just tried out a 24mm nibbi that bolts to the manifold. Has a 35 in the pack so I assume it has a 40 installed but it needs a little more fuel. Wasn't able to do much testing before dark.
Don't have a metric tape but the head porthole is tiny. Probably 18 or 20mm it's much smaller than the inside diameter of the factory manifold tube. Probably going to try my hand at porting in the near future.
Just recently bought a new hellcat. Changed a few things including changing out the carb for the mikuni. What main jet and needle setting did you end up with on the stock motor?
I know you're looking at the 190 swap. I've been looking at the Hellcat too, but you an get a Lifan KP-Mini 150 for around $1800 shipped and with exhaust and carb should be close to the 190cc at roughly the same price as the Hellcat + 190 engine? Your thoughts on that?
The 150 is a 5 speed? I thought the 190 had the Yamaha style top end or something. Almost 18hp? Not sure to be honest. I see now 5 speed... Hmm yeah looks decent.
Hey bro I recently got one exactly like yours ...I got it really cheap because it won't fire ...I've bought 3 brand new stators and iv replaced and or checked everything that makes it fire and the only thing that I haven't changed is the flywheel....magneto....I'm just before putting another engine on itj...any ideas??
Geez that's crazy, make sure that there is that little metal tab welded on the flywheel, that's what triggers the spark there's a separate pickup for that on the stator. Or I've seen it as simple as someone has the kill switch wire grounded somewhere in the harness
@@MotoCheez IV checked all that ...I even wired up a brand new harness to it and still no spark ... makes me want to pull my hair out and I shave my head lol...but yea bro I'm hoping it's just bad stators .. when I check them with a multimeter they all 3 check bad and they are brand new....I'm going to try one more and a magneto to and if that don't work I'm just going to replace the engine.....I only payed 200 bucks for it because the guy was moving and he didn't know how to fix it
@dannyoutlaw8001 weird that a new stator would test bad... Are you sure that the proper CDI was purchased? That engine has an AC style ignition, which means it does not get powered from the battery it has one coil on the stator that sends power to the CDI and another wire that is the trigger to tell it to spark
@@MotoCheez yes iv tried 4 different cdi and they are all new and so are the stators... like I said I'm going to try one more stators and a new flywheel which is the mag...if it don't fire then I'm just going to buy another engine...I really want to put a bigger one on it anyway...
Maybe put a long intake pipe to slow down the velocity, or a long intake pipe with a smaller filter. Also when you put a much fatter jet you need to raise the needle and adjust the a/f screw
I've tried combos like that with intake horns. Does work. Fatter jet doesn't mean you have to raise needle or mixture. Mixture screw is idle to 1/8 throttle roughly. The needle fine tunes 1/4 to 3/4 mixture, main jet is 3/4 to WOT. All overlap a little if course
@@MotoCheez I'm not sure, whatever came with it. Trying to get an idea of where to start with the mikuni, any ideas? I'm in PA, about the same elevation as NY
@@MotoCheez lol Im 6 and quite strong. And during this quarentine a bit fat too lol thats the whole idea anyways right? To ride a small bike. But my real question is; Is it unconfortable to ride?
It's very comfy!! You wouldn't even think you were on a smaller bike. It's same size as the Grom if you have a dealer or someone who has one to sit on. It's like the old "fat chick and a scooter" joke... You know 😁😁💯💯😅😂😂
maybe 24 nibbi for that bike I live at 8000 feet I like how Mutch air it lets in I have 17cc carb and it takes 45cc air filter its on habor fraight predator 79cc after some fiddling and it was not easy its on a motorized bicycle it perzzz Thay have chart for engine cc Mikuni for me was hard to get the right jets nibbi had them on the small carb in the kit for 80 cc good luck
@@MotoCheez in the facebook group clone army a lot of people say the pz26 is tuned very well out of the box. have you had any experience with it? its only 24$ plus the 8$ manifold on amazon
try welding up the head as much as possible build-up that compression..... just hook up some nitro ( YOU KNOW THAT SAYING Go hard or go home ) show your viewers something radical
Pretty sure the proper sizing, is the size of the slide! Small one is an 18mm second is the very popular vm22 which is a 22mm carb and in my opinion the best for a 125cc pit bike /grom clone! The nibbi is a 28mm and way to much carb for a 125 pitbike/grom clone
The sizes I put were correct, I ordered the mikuni and Nibbi new. The measurements showed. Yes the Nibbi is too big either way 😁 and the mikuni works best for me.
yes to big a carb can be held back by the size of the intake port of the cyl head and valve opening .. at one point its just no return .. one hits the limit like you say with out porting or muffler to remove the burned fuel faster .. then throw in the cam design for chugging low rpm power through the low speed dirt ... air jorden's on grandma will not make the old cow run faster ...with out some meth/speed ..then the rods.. piston , rod brgs are at risk
Tx Powersports upped there price of the Hellcat to $1,239 it no longer seems that they are eating shipping fee for it even though it states free shipping. Oh well.
Great vid I agree too much carb is too much I ordered a28 mm nibbi for my Lifan KP mini 150cc (with the vertical style engine) Just bolted on the performance exhaust but I'm thinking keep the 26 mm stock carb PZ 26..... And make sure it's jetted properly and possibly even open up the intake slightly it's all trial-and-error is and it thanks for another great video you kind of verified what I sort of already knew but how much is too much hay??

You have done almost everything right mine is on a ssr 125 so very similar motor. I personally prefer the cheap amazon mikuni over the nibbi. I had to run a 120 main and 48 pilot but if you have your air screw off by just a tad. These carbs run like garbage it may be because they are machines so nice that the air isn’t getting disrupted. I know someone running a 28mm on there ssr 125 and it runs great so too big in this case is not actually the case. Great video love the content just wanted to share my experience with you as well.
Agreed. But my exhaust I'd why it may have been too big. I did get it to run good and they are finiky
MotoCheez yes they are. I had to do the same and take the carburetor off several times. Maybe your exhaust is to restrictive.
It is
I might put a 26mm nibbi on my kz200 scrambler build. Free flow exhaust is all that’s done. Stock head. KZ250 internals will fit the 200 case which sounds like an option in the future. I love small bikes if they’re zippy.
Nice!
Sitting on toillet look up pops up😁
Like it was meant to be!! Hope it helped :)
Speaking of air cleaners, have you come up with some recommends for mini? What size was the k&n filter was that you had?
Holy crap. Can you do a detailed guide on how you just identify when its lean or rich?
I will next time I do a rejetting
@@MotoCheez thank you! I see that you can determine if its lean/rich just by sound. I want to learn that too
Did moving the needle and staying with 40 work with the primary jet?
Yes
Open exhaust up a little and try timming change. advance a little.also do a little porting on the head
That would do it for sure. I ordered a ZS190
Kehin is Pronounced key in. Great video
I've heard that, I think I've been saying it wrong my whole life! Thanks
There is no replacement for displacement my friend.
Except a turbo and fuel injection. Lol. Jk
I did see a turbo grom. 15hp and 75 mph with medium build guy on it.
Or supercharger, but both are actually making more Cubic inches by forced air into cylinder.
The 190cc engines are claiming up to 18hp...
May have to port and polish the head?
That would def help
Just recently bought a new hellcat. Changed a few things including changing out the carb for the mikuni. What main jet and needle setting did you end up with on the stock motor?
Hmm. I don't remember. I think 110 main. Have to check that video I believe I said it on there
Hey motocheez, I have the TBR7 with a full exhaust and stock carb with a 115 main jet. Would I benefit going with a Nibbi carb? Thanks in advance.
Did you end up putting the needle up to the bottom notch along with the 2nd largest main jet you landed on?
Yes
I know you're looking at the 190 swap. I've been looking at the Hellcat too, but you an get a Lifan KP-Mini 150 for around $1800 shipped and with exhaust and carb should be close to the 190cc at roughly the same price as the Hellcat + 190 engine? Your thoughts on that?
The 150 is a 5 speed? I thought the 190 had the Yamaha style top end or something. Almost 18hp? Not sure to be honest. I see now 5 speed... Hmm yeah looks decent.
I am going to try it on a MotorSport SSR 140CC wish me luck ..
Where can you find the mikuni intake?
The links should be in description of the video
Maybe put a long intake pipe to slow down the velocity, or a long intake pipe with a smaller filter. Also when you put a much fatter jet you need to raise the needle and adjust the a/f screw
I've tried combos like that with intake horns. Does work. Fatter jet doesn't mean you have to raise needle or mixture. Mixture screw is idle to 1/8 throttle roughly. The needle fine tunes 1/4 to 3/4 mixture, main jet is 3/4 to WOT. All overlap a little if course
Main jet is for idle, and the secondary jet is for full open throttle. You shouldve adjusted the secondary jet.
Nope. Main jet is for 3/4 to full throttle. It's way bigger than primary jet which is part throttle to 3/4 roughly
What jets did you use for the mikuni? I can't get mine to run right, bogs everywhere all over the throttle
I had one in my old kit.. I have links on motocheez.com what size in it now?
@@MotoCheez I'm not sure, whatever came with it. Trying to get an idea of where to start with the mikuni, any ideas? I'm in PA, about the same elevation as NY
Try a 105 main with needle up one notch (one notch down on needle)
It will work swap the carb to a 24m
24 too small
Brother... Im 6' tall. Will a hellcat/grom look stupid or feel awkward?
I'm 5'10 and I look pretty big, bit I don't care! lol. if you're slim probably not, Im not so slim either :)
@@MotoCheez lol Im 6 and quite strong. And during this quarentine a bit fat too lol thats the whole idea anyways right? To ride a small bike. But my real question is; Is it unconfortable to ride?
My man I'm 6'5 ride one and still gotta jump......they ain't small
I have the endure 250....same thing
It's very comfy!! You wouldn't even think you were on a smaller bike. It's same size as the Grom if you have a dealer or someone who has one to sit on. It's like the old "fat chick and a scooter" joke... You know 😁😁💯💯😅😂😂
maybe 24 nibbi for that bike I live at 8000 feet I like how Mutch air it lets in I have 17cc carb and it takes 45cc air filter its on habor fraight predator 79cc after some fiddling and it was not easy its on a motorized bicycle it perzzz Thay have chart for engine cc Mikuni for me was hard to get the right jets nibbi had them on the small carb in the kit for 80 cc good luck
was that a genuine mikuni? and have you tested the pz26?
I doubt if.it was genuine. China made Mikuni, say Mikuni on it
@@MotoCheez in the facebook group clone army a lot of people say the pz26 is tuned very well out of the box. have you had any experience with it? its only 24$ plus the 8$ manifold on amazon
Don't you think you get a few more MPH with street tire or the stock tire?
Yes
Ub40?
"It's too big..."
...that's what she said. 😜
try welding up the head as much as possible build-up that compression..... just hook up some nitro ( YOU KNOW THAT SAYING Go hard or go home ) show your viewers something radical
Hahahaha that made me laugh thanks
Very interesting
Crap! Not 1st because I was out on my Brozz 'RECON'. 😬
WOOT! Hows she running?
@@MotoCheez So far; she's 'tits'. Just hit the 100mi mark and gotta check valve clearances.
Luv it..luv it...luv it..
Thanks, Boss. 😎
MotoCheez ehh I’m pretty sure it’s the size of the slide that determines what size carb it is!
Not. It's the bore on intake side. I'm certain.
Where do you buy your jet kits?
Ebay and Amazon, I have links in video and on Motocheez.com
Would a hotter spark plug help at all?
It does depending on driving habits for sure
3:34 seconds in........ hold on, let me go get a Popsicle.
Did you swap the needles out?
Swap from where? I kept needle with carbs
@@MotoCheez you can swap the needle out for one with a different taper or size
Oh. Ok. Didn't know what you were asking. No I didn't. I usually just shim or end up buying another larger carb
What jet sizes with the second carb?
I think I did 105... Sorry I forget
By any chance could I know the elevation your at?
I'm at 700 feet
@@MotoCheez thanks dude!!!
How do I get the minkuni carb and intake for the hellcat I can't find the link lol any help is much appreciated
And do I need to change anything like jet I have an after market exhaust on mine
MotoCheez.com in the hellcat section. Yes you'll need to change jets
It will probably fit better on your hawk
It might!
now you will need to fill the front forks , with gas , just to go on reserve to get back home .
😁😁😁😁
yes to big a carb can be held back by the size of the intake port of the cyl head and valve opening .. at one point its just no return .. one hits the limit like you say with out porting or muffler to remove the burned fuel faster .. then throw in the cam design for chugging low rpm power through the low speed dirt ... air jorden's on grandma will not make the old cow run faster ...with out some meth/speed ..then the rods.. piston , rod brgs are at risk
Good analogy :)
What elevation are you?
About 700 feet
Tx Powersports upped there price of the Hellcat to $1,239 it no longer seems that they are eating shipping fee for it even though it states free shipping. Oh well.
It's the new import fees I heard, they all went up.. idk
Whats your elevation? Are you at sea level?
600 feet
Would you see any reason to upgrade to the 190cc over the 212cc??
Cost. The 190 is almost half the price
Where did you get your 190?
David Bullock in zs190 swap FB group. $700 delivered.
If your going to mess with carbs invest in the Gunson Colortune kit
Great vid I agree too much carb is too much I ordered a28 mm nibbi for my Lifan KP mini 150cc (with the vertical style engine) Just bolted on the performance exhaust but I'm thinking keep the 26 mm stock carb PZ 26..... And make sure it's jetted properly and possibly even open up the intake slightly it's all trial-and-error is and it thanks for another great video you kind of verified what I sort of already knew but how much is too much hay??
True, nothing like hands on!
If you are doing a motor swap. You can pick up salvage ninja or cbr 250r or 300r for cheap money.
Won't fit properly, I've seen people out all kinds of motors on these but they're too big
👍🏾👍🏾
You you using 10 percent Ethanol gas?
Pump gas yeah
