Non smokers are allowed to take breaks too, they just have more choices on where they can spend that break. Maybe some of those excavator drivers had to use the restroom. What's in those "snack foods?"
I skipped around a bit, so this might have already been mentioned... but ALWAYS use the SAME TYPE OF TRUCK on a given task. When you mix truck types, the smaller trucks end up taking priority, because they can take the queue at a lower quantity, and they absolutely kill the productivity of larger trucks... and in doing so, they also kill your efficiency.
This is a very useful video! I'm on a new playthrough and I'm just hitting T2 tech and researching Logistics. If nothing else, the idea of storing excess ore near the mine so the trucks are doing SOMETHING is brilliant!.
Oh yep I've got 2 towers setup in the lets play beside the shipyard for double dipping only. This means when i tell them to fill a area it tends to get filled VERY quickly lol
Thanks for this, its very helpful. I wish logistics was in game from the start. Its not really technology in the strictest sense and its rough to go without it at the start. Like telling Bob the trucker to collect all the slag and put it in one pile seem kinda straight forward I dunno. Just getting into this game and loving it. I like that mining feels like mining like literally processing massive amounts of material, instead of some "resource node" system. Seeing mines in the real world is kinda awe inspiring how large they are. This game definitely captures that. I guess I never really got over the "watching dump trucks for fun" stage of life
Om.g! This is gamechanging... I have over 70h in the last week in this game and finding this logistics trick now... here goes another 70h for sure. Thanks!
Thank you tons JD. This helped to know the ins n outs as all of your awesome videos do. Liked and have been Subbed w/notification for a while now. Keep up the awesome work buddy :-))))
Borrowing a Like is probably one of the most clever UA-camr marketing approaches I've encountered. Not to mention it gives me a chuckle whenever I hear it. (BTW, I give you the likes, they're not on loan.)
Great video, you lost me when you changed the mine control tower area, was that only for illustrative purposes? I though that only had an impact on mining/dumping and not for storage buildings.
it was used to Visualise the different networks, as I wanted to have 2 overlays one over another, the green dumping being the general network and the tower box also being a private network
You can keep my like and I'll throw in a sub and ring the bell! Great content! I've been following this game for a while now, looking for that new fix since I OD'd on Cracktorio... Now you just showed me I wanna get deep into these logistics. Thanks 👍🙏
WHat I am struggling with , is lets say construction parts (the 1st stage) it has 3 inputs and I want to place 3 production lines. I cant feed all 3 from big storage because the belts wont cross over each other if you see what I mean. unless I use a load of space. My brain cant work out and its buggine me big time
Wouldn’t it make sense to argue that having the excavators and trucks working only to dump the mined material onto a clear stretch of land is not adding any value as you would have to do this all over again when you actually get to processing this somewhere. At least when you have that excess mining capacity idling, you save a bit of diesel (and possibly other savings on idleing vehicles?), or temporarily assign the vehicles somewhere else if you’re into micromanaging?
THANK YOU, OH MIGTY ONE! this video indeed helped with my problem (wall of text on Discord) sadly I can give you only one like so... LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE ...it is not perfect, but I try my best
The one thing I can't make work, for some reason, is getting trucks to take a load from a digger and dump it in the same tower control region. e.g. digger digs rock, I have a rock +slag dumping zone controlled by the same tower right next to it, truck drives either to deliver rock to a storage, or dumps into the sea. :( As soon as I put another tower there, sans trucks, trucks come from all over to deliver rock+slag... but not the local ones.
Did you assign tower 1 to tower 2? If not then its a public tower and everyone can access it, as soon as its assigned by the logistics they both become private networks

hahahah bathroom breaks? How do u think the grass grows so quick around here... its all the bathroom breaks by the drivers right out the door
This videos covers like 3 problems I Ran into in my game. REALLY good video! Thank you !!!
Glad they helped!

Yeah, you can keep the like. This basically explained why my most recent game imploded. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I was half way there... the double dip tip helped out huge!!

I can't believe I didn't think about daisy chaining the storage containers and doing that myself seems like common sense now
Good video explaining the basics.
Glad you think so!
Great video, really helpful :) thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This is such a fantastic tutorial. I’ve come back to it again and again. Thanks! 🎉
You are so welcome!
The night before you posted this, I was thinking to myself that I should request you make a video on this topic. Kinda scary.
request away! The more requests I get for a video type the higher up the list it goes!

I was thinking exactly that
Thank you I think I have a better idea on how it works now.

No problem hope it helps!
Minion control ftw, wish we had something like this in Factorio.
Side note: 5 more Advanceds' to beat the "Basic" intro.
lol

Hi JD how are you today?
