  • Thanks to architect Don Ziebell and designer Inga L. Rehmann of Oz Architects, this kitchen serves the practical needs of its owners, while also providing unmistakable energy. High ceilings and rustic accents are just the beginning in this kitchen, which is largely inspired by styles typically found in southeastern France’s Provence region. Earth tones permeate the space, and tall windows filter in natural light to add a comforting glow. Large enough to comfortably entertain large parties, but designed in such a way that it can also serve as a cozy space for two, this kitchen checks every box.

I had no idea what an authentic French kitchen looked like before 2000 - when I went to Monet's mansion in the countryside. I couldn't have gone other than being a student at that time. I didn't want to leave that home. I had to hold back tears.

@mizzmolly like I said before, yeah, you need money for a new built but also need to know what to buy.
If you buy an old house in the south of France you can get all of this for less than 200.000 euros (so not that much money at all)
I´m sure they´ve spent a lot more on that house to make it look that way, but still... they knew what to get.

I find it wierd, that what once considered to be old and out of fashion becomes fashion again except rich people do it in large scale lol.
If you go to any rural areas of any country with history you can still find people living in such houses .
      Lime washed walls,
      High roofs with wood,
      Fireplace with unique bricks,
      Hand made tiles ,
      Etc..
Due to increase in cost of labor and people seeking corporate jobs made such homes or art expensive.

Why? I mean why would you want to replicate France in Arizona? It's essentially a theme park and although the owners clearly have the means to ship French stuff in, it's not remotely authentic. Don't you have your own idea of style in the US? It makes me smile because to do this in Europe would be considered really naff.

    • @carolyncross9950
      @carolyncross9950 4 роки тому

@Josephine Bournes I'm not awful; it's just my personal opinion. I just think it's a shame that this is just not representative of US architecture or style; the US has some great architects, great designers and I love it when owners celebrate authenticity. Borrowing ideas from Europe or anywhere else is fine; shipping it in wholesale makes it a theme park.

Maybe they have French ancestors and really feel at home with that design style. My best friends grandma was 100% French, it’s not uncommon for people grandparents and great grandparents to be from somewhere beside the US.

Go to any mosque, and you'll find Arabian architecture and beautiful hammams. Go to any regular church and you'll find Romanesque or Gothic architecture. Go to any Greek or Ukrainian church and you'll find Byzantine architecture. The fact is that America is made up of many world cultures that have all congregated here. There is no "American culture" that excludes external cultural influences. It's impossible. You only have to look at American food (Italian, French, Mexican, Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian, etc.) and our fashion to know that we are a mosaic of many cultures. We mix and match the various customs that appeal to us and then put our own spin on them. And that's what this couple did. They took French architectural themes and layered them with antique & modern artifacts.

At hard times, people need to be entertained. I understand what you´re saying but a little distraction isn´t so bad. You can´t assume that every content out there should be pessimistic... THAT´S insensitive.

@@naomiemoore5725 Again Naomi, I understand what you´re saying, but I believe there are places for everything and everyone. I remember 2 weeks ago when Kelly Wearstler showed her new house and people were crazy about how much money she spent and all of the COVID thing we keep hearing... well, I don´t think Kelly bought that house to make us feel bad about it, nor that she got it on purpose the same day this madness started... or even how the editor of that channel waited for the virus to launch the video... so YEAH, it sucks, and there´s people having the roughest time of their lives (some even died) but we shouldn´t ask everyone to show sympathy when we can´t do the same. I enjoy the distraction and I´m sure there´s a lot of people who like this channel/magazine for the very same reason. Take care though. That´s what matters... and I hope you´re not one of those who are having the worst time of their lives. :)
