Midcentury will always have its fans -- including me! I love the organic rooms but I'm really tired of the word "organic." I'll call it "natural."
Funny, I really like and find the first space inviting. I would just want comfier sofas.
I agree with you. It’s the current buzz word as if it’s something new. As quite luxury became the buzz word to counter loud/ logo emblazoned designs. Nothing new in designs but a a recycle of the old made new.
I wanted to ask if they actually use organic materials? I'm looking to create a healthy environment rather than something that just looks healthy
Sound absorbing is so so important. Curtains in addition to bamboo shades or Cafe curtains in a kitchen to help soften a room are so important.
Comfy and uncluttered who wouldn’t love that!
Thank you for such a great explanation of organic modern. You are a fantastic teacher!
Know thyself. I used to have this style, and yes it's gorgeous. I almost designed my whole new house this way but caught myself. Because the problem is there's no color. I have learned over time that I get color starved in a space like this. Maybe this style is great if you have a chaotic life and want someplace spa-like and calming. But what I want in a house is bright colors, energy, creativity and playfulness. I do like natural elements but can't do the monochromatic neutrals.
I totally agree with you! Life should be a kaleidoscope of colours. Matter of speaking ‘DO YOU’.. whatever the heck that is! Be true to YOU.
I LOVE color myself, but can't have a lot of it because it gives me horrible migraines so a lot of modern design appeals to me more, especially as I get older because it's a lot less to clean than my favorite boho & traditional styles.
@@GoAwayNow-iz3du I'm sorry, that sounds awful. Even outdoor colors like flowers and fall leaves? Or what about softer muted colors like a light aqua blue for example? I've never heard of migraines triggered from color, but it's very interesting.
As much as i like colours,i love calming and soothing neutral colours.I have gone through so much in my life, instead of bringing colours to my life,i want to tone down all my emotions and anxiety through beige, white or gray
Yes! Probably my favorite design style. Comfy, inviting and easy on the eyes. 👍🏻
Thanks Lisa & team for all the detailed and fabulously informed videos you and your team are producing.
I finally know clearly that my design style is ORGANIC MODERN and this TIMELLY information will save me tons on money and neurons during my bathroom abd bedroom remodel!
You convinced my to go for The Dezign Method !
Viorica, so Glad it was helpful, and I LUV having you in Dezigner Method!!!!
I love this style and I love this video. Thank you so much for showing the contrast between the first two spaces, it really opened my eyes and I can finally pinpoint why I love organic modern so much!
I’m moving into my first house and this is our style we are going for. I’m so excited! So far everything looks amazing and I know it’s going to be so calm and warm
It’s the asymmetry that I like about Organic Modern -in the UK 🇬🇧 are spaces are small so this would help celebrate the areas and feel well styled 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💕
Love it, finally describes my tastes (other than garage sale, 😂). I'd have to add splash of industrial too.
Bring in that moldy table 😂
Love this video! Thank you! Organic modern is definitely my favorite and that is how I like my home to look and feel. Great to learn how to articulate it and what makes it so.
Moldy table in the corner. Nailed it!
As always you are a master at breaking down the elements of a particular style to its essence! Love the point about balancing and we’re to be careful about leaning too far into internal style. I have learned so much from you and enjoy your content so much!
Great video, thanks!
Love that this style incorporates almost all of the styles that I gravitate towards - International, Minimalist, Scandi, Japandi and Wabi Sabi. Thanks for the video!
That 5th Element reference earned my thumbs up! Awesome video, I love the combo of clean calming lines and minimalism, with cozy natural blanketing overtop.
Exciting! Can’t wait. 😁
I LOVE this style & have had it for years & always will. I am someone who loves textures & natural with neutrals.
Interesting video, thanks!
Yes!!!! That's what I've been looking for!
Ok - I have to watch this one few times! Love the warmth and the colours and also the absent of clutter. Lisa is such a good teacher 💜
I recently discover your videos and you have so much to teach us about decoration. I like that your videos are peaceful. I learn a lot about decorating from you. Keep up the good work! 😊❤😊
So glad you made another Saturday style video. I’ve missed them and you are a wealth of great information Lisa!
Thank you very much: I had to renovate my new Haus, and make plenty of fundamental changes because it looked like in the first picture, not inviting, didn't feel warm; it looke fantastic only on the pictures, but it didn't feel inviting. Now, I know why I did that despite the costs involved. Thank you very much for this video and as always ..
Woo ooh ooh, these are good ideas . Warmer than midcentury. It feels easier to get comfortable in.
Organic Modern sounds appealing to me. Adored your examples of texture differences and asymmetry. Just enticingly lovely.
Organic modern is definitely my vibe. You're making me re-think my living room, Lisa! ✨
Thank you Lisa. Very good information, tips. I think this style can be very beautiful and comfortable except from the very curve furniture and curve shelves on the walls.
This perfect. I like modern but wanted to have it warm and inviting space.
Yes, many people are in that boat. It's why I felt it was important to do this one. YAY! 🥰
Sorry I love it the new fireplace .. it looks amazing
Thanks Lisa! I am designing a new office space. This is just what I needed to help me decide which style to choose to create an unfussy welcoming space.
Hey Lisa. Long time! Love the channel direction! Congrats on the success!❤️
Oh, yay Liza!!! This has to be my very favorite video of all times, and I have watched all of yours! You broke it down and explained organic, modern so easily that anyone could do it. Thank you for all your wisdom!
Love this video
Great explanation of how the different elements work together to create a good-looking space that isn't intimidatingly cold & precise. I'll pass on the shaggy cream chairs: they give me cleaning anxiety - it's not zen if you are worried about getting coffee stains out!
Hi Lisa - loved your ideas here. Will give it a lot of thought 🎉❤
I really enjoyed it! Your knowledge and expertise in interior design, Lisa, is impressive. Thank you for sharing your insights with us. I found the "secret recipe" for creating an organic modern space particularly helpful, and I'm looking forward to applying it to my next project. Your guidance is greatly appreciated.
I love you Lisa!!
The best design channel on YT. I just bought a huge house in ABQ, NM. This is exactly the style I want to do the whole house in.
Hats off to you. Great taste!
Hey Raena! with a HUGE project like that you should check my site where everyone working on their own places can get help...DezignSpace.com! xo L
LISA please get yourself some glasses with a blue light filter. Thats health beneficial and looks waaay better on camera with all the studio light (not) reflecting.
Very much want the organic modern vibe but before learning enough I but a light grey fabric couch and chair. Is there anything I can do now?
This is a great video! I've been looking for a creator like you for a while
Hi Lisa! Love this video. In your asymmetry segment there's a gorgeous warm wood bench below the asymmetric mirrors. Source of this example? Need this bench!
Hi Lisa, I live in a tiny apartment in Australia with 5 year old daughter. Can you or someone you know with your eye help to re-do on budget?
On the hunt for a moldy table! haha but really, I love this video, it really helped me decorate the right way!!
I’m new to your videos and thankful I found you! Any idea where those fabulous brown leather chairs are from? I need 2!
Love it! Thank you Lisa! I miss Desizn School! :) I'm doing this look in our Hawaii home. I would love to see some design ideas for homes in Hawaii and coastal homes. Most homes here look like the 80s and 90s threw up in them. LOL The islands definitely need to update!
Funny, I really like and find the first space inviting. I would just want comfier sofas.
love your video, where do i purchase faux branches like the ones on the coffee table?
I can answer questions and help over at my site in my site... dezignspace.com
Sounds sweet! 👀
Can you please make a youtube on converting a room with gray furniture and making it warmer? ( For example, what would you do in the gray room keeping the main pieces in this youtube?) I am sure many of us followed the gray trend, but now we don't want to spend the money to purchase all new furniture. Love your example of a warm, inviting room!
Lean towards greiges, adding warmth in woods and decor pieces. Some pieces that are very cool could be reupholstered or have slip covers. All best ☺️
I just love the way u talk
Sis, everything about this term is my decorating style! It had no name. I knew I was not Boho, nor farm, nor ultra modern however, the elements that make Organic modern are me to a T! I'm neutral, classic, comforting, vintage and modern. YUM
I loved wabi sabi and minimalism so it just makes sense that I’m doing modern organic theme for my new apartment.. but it’s such a challenge figuring the color themes.. can you suggest some organic modern color palette please?
I just bought a couch that is more on the dark cool grey tone/charcoal. Now I have to create the rest of the livingroom but I really wanted an organic style home. Do you have any suggestions?
You can always join us at dezignspace.com where you can create posts and questions like these. See you there. ☺️
I love this design style, organic and natural. The only part I got lost at was the moldy table( calling it beautiful and bringing in humanity! Haha more like killing humanity )
What’s a good quality couch (like somewthing from restoration hardware) that doesn’t sot so close to the ground?
Every time I watch your videos I swear my budget for my house goes up by $1000
One of the great things I love about Organic Modern decor is its flexibility. It can be adapted to various styles and can be customized while maintaining cohesive and balanced look. 😉😍
You would have loved todays Live Masterclass on DezignSpace.com we talked about blending styles. ☺️
Lisa. Please can you do this video but with a more classic style.
There’s plenty of style videos on the channel. You might just want to go back a bit. Happy watching. 😊
Hi Lisa - Do you ever do video consultations? We just moved into a an extremely contemporary home that was designed by the original builders for their furnitures, etc. All of the other homes I've lived in I've been able to create the flow and the feeling that makes a home feel like sanctuary, so to speak. This house needs EXACTLY what you described in your video. There's nothing curvy or organic in the architecture of the interior space. I'm frustrated, whereas in our other places, it's been fun to turn the house into a home that reflects our unique personality, for lack of a better word. I'm extremely affected by my environment and I'm also an artist. The clash of not feeling centered here makes it difficult to find flow, so to speak. I feel like we are living in a beautiful hotel rather than a house/home. We've downsized from 3000sf to 1800sf, which isn't a bad thing; I hate clutter. I feel very stuck in figuring this place out. Thank you so much!
Great storytelling as usual 👍🏼. I love the squares of wall panelling in the title pic - where is that type of product available?
Some are custom made. Take a screenshot and reverse google search the picture. That should help you find somebody to do it for you. If you have renovations ahead of you, you should consider coming and joining me at dezignspace.com ☺️
All grey was the decor to have in 2018.
question for you please.... I just bought a house with horrible grimy carpet. I thought I'd replace it with a charcoal carpet, but you are saying to watch out for the cool greys. Should I go with a greige color instead?
I love the wall paint treatment which I would not have thought of for organic modern (because I am just not that imaginative, which is why I watch Lisa :)
Actually, I think the first example looks cozy, cal. And inviting.
Everything was beautiful, except the moldy table at the end! 😂
"Modern Craftsman" might also be a way to describe this...or something of a sibling design style...
I'm loving this new trend as I have always loved organic fabrics and textures and shapes. I noticed that the architectural details also reflect that almost cave like primitive shapes on the walls. Lots of sticks and stones and wood and clay. YEY!
Well done. I would make furniture choices more dog liveable and a touch less formal and slouchy and you’ve got me as a client for eternity
You’d love what we have available over on dezignspace.com and you’ll also get deep dives into styles like this. Exclusive events and videos, I think you’d love it. See you there. 😊
I love this style. I thought rugs could be placed either with the front legs half on the couch or fully under the couch?
So, pulling furniture off the corner of a rug is an old photographers trick to making the shot. Look interesting… It’s actually never what you want in real life!🤣
Lisa, sometimes after a long search, the perfect space matching rug doesn’t come in the required size, 1 or 2 feet off on one of the sides and this can be a solution to deal with that, in my opinion. For some reason, this reminds me of when sofas were put right against walls 😂
Love this Lisa!
Can see this trend dating this period. We went through a similar 80's curvey furniture period with similar shades (but less earthy, less plants).
Modern Organic, a little more refined than the Earth-Shoe-Hippy-Organic we got back in the 70's LOL you have to be real careful about keeping it pared back or else it goes BOHO real fast. and not in a good way. Thanks Lisa ! extra fun as always !!
YAY! thanks R! Yes, it can go sour quick if you overplay an element, that balance is imperative! 😘
How did that tree get into that pot is the million dollar question?
Ohhhh my fave🤎
I never knew what my design style had evolved to until this video. Apparently, I'm one of the "Organic Modern" people.
The label isn’t important, but if it helps, you make good decisions… I’m there for you!
@@LisaHoltDesign I'm very close to this look but with less curviness. I'm still clean lines but natural materials and a warm natural pallet. Of course, I'm not a Design Goddess like you so I just wing it. :)
Hi, when you use a term like Wabi Sabi, can you explain what the heck it is? LOL
I am on the fence. I love the contemporary elements, the woods, the monochromatic palette, the glass and the light. But emotionally it gravitates to the “hygge” feel more than the excitement or intrigue that I love rooms to have. I also wouldn’t pick so many beiges and neutrals all over the place, or the organic curves. So I can’t decide if I love it or hate it? 🤷♂️
Yeah, same, I need more color in my own home, but I would enjoy vacationing or visiting some of these places shown. Especially the one with the fireplace and big picture windows. An evening spent in that room would be lovely, but I agree not exciting at all, but restful.
I have to chuckle a bit as I think this is me but I like to visit and vacation in places you both with a bit more energy and color but I don’t want to live there!
I completely agree! Vacationing here would be great! And I love how some people are just the opposite! That’s wonderful. 🥰
It's probably a little too much Zen for you JV....😅 but that's why it can make a great vacay concept!
It’s weird how in my flat, i started with the intention of japandi/midcentury and midway I kinda went hmmm this is not looking japandi anymore and I saw this video and I’m like oh ok so now it makes sense!
Did you mention mould on the little table in the corner? Surely that's a health hasard.
Okay, I had to stop the video as soon as I started. I HAVE to know Lisa, what brand are those amazing glasses!!! LOVE them! They look fabulous on you!! I love your style! ❣
They are! That’s why we put them in the store dezignspace.com/store You can definitely shop my style. 😊
Awww you're too sweet! I"m just a glasses sucker...these are new fav's, so much so I put them in the Store, they're by CADDIS, and SUPER reasonable! you can get them here: dezignclubstore.com/collections/glasses 🤓🤓
@@LisaHoltDesign Lisa! Thank you so much for answering! I love you! Perfect timing! I am seriously in the market for some new glasses my prescription is so old I'm going to start talking to lampposts like Mr. Magoo! Thanks again! I'm going to go check them out!!! Yay me!! Yay you!! 👏👏👏🎉🎊
@@rmonson5002 what? someone else who actually remembers Mr. Magoo? I grew up watching that guy! 😁
@@mimiandthemuse Hahaha! Me too! I love Mr. Magoo and I love Jim Backus that voiced the character and was then Thurston Howell III on Gilligan's Island. Which is also a fond childhood memory. ♥
I prefer the first one. I don't need this warm fuss.
I don't care for the drab palette.
Everything BUT mold on the top!
I like incorporating organic materials into modern design, but I think designers are going overboard with the wood and light colored beige now, to the point that it looks more traditional than modern to me. All the "organic modern" furniture is shaped weirdly too. I get that people don't want everything rectangular anymore, but now everything is all curvy instead. I prefer more of a balance in shapes, colors (light and dark), and materials (stone, wood, glass etc). Just my opinion though. It's all personal preference.
