You'd think if she's suddenly delirious, can't read the words, losing function of her muscles and is slurring, you would sit her down and call the ambulance, not wait for her to shout it and then literally collapse and possibly hit her head. It's a sad reality that people are like that sometimes.

My brother worked in a bakery that would get inundated on Sundays after mass let out. One day, a person in line collapsed. (We theorize a heart attack.) The person was Stepped Over & he had to come from behind the counter to help them.
Moral: Never underestimate the power of yummy, fatty baked goods...or something.

This is actually something I learned about in my previous semester of college. It's called the Bystander Effect. The more people there are in an area, the less likely they are to try to help because they assume someone else will step in. If everyone in the room experiences this effect, it can take a while for someone to step in and do something.
This is why when there IS an emergency and you step in to help, while you're assisting the ill person, instead of saying "someone call 911", you point at someone and say "YOU, call 911". This basically snaps them out of that bystander effect in most cases.
That beginning scene when everyone stands around doing nothing is a lot more accurate than someone could comfortably imagine.

Pro life woman here who is currently 10 weeks along. And I’m against all abortions except for moments like this. It literally breaks my heart to see such precious life not last long enough to survive but it happens. Poor mother and poor baby. Just a horrible situation all around if the baby was removed. When the mother’s life is at risk if the pregnancy goes any further I think majority of people are more willing to remove the baby and let them pass away naturally. No need to rip it apart violently but remove and let the mother see her child at least once. It’s so heartbreaking but it has to happen sometimes.
He’s not necessarily pro abortion he’s being truthful that something was wrong and the fetus was literally killing the mother. Caring about her wellbeing should always be with in the doctors best interest but doctors aren’t always right.
Majority of doctors that find an inclination of something wrong with the baby suggest termination and more often than not that diagnosis is wrong. Let’s be generous and say it’s 75% correct in every diagnoses that would mean 25% of children with no viable issues are then terminated because of a misdiagnosis. Which is really sad when those babies were wanted, fine and no one fought for them to live.
Woman’s health is extremely polarizing for some reason. Including medical care for just woman’s pain. We aren’t taken seriously.
So I’m glad he listened to her and were willing to help her regardless of her choice because most hospitals would see her as a liability. And doctors would see her as a failure on their record if anything went wrong.
In todays modern day and age it’s seen as stupid or brave to do the right thing and fight for your children’s lives. Which is so backwards and wrong.

When my maternal grandmother was pregnant of my mother, her doctor advised to abort. My grandmother had already 4 children and after that 2 miscarriages where she almost bled to death in both. Doctor said it was too risky trying to carry my mother to full term, but my grandmother (a devout catholic) didn’t want to know anything about having an abortion.
So my oldest aunt, by then 12 years old, took good care of her mother for the rest of the pregnancy and my mother was born.
My mother turned out to be an extremely gifted child who graduated in biology as the valedictorian of the entire university and is a quite well known university professor.
Not only that, but my mother is the only one of the 5 children who has descendants, the other 4 bloodlines ended without descendants. So only my mother is continuing the bloodlines of my grandparents.

In an interview, she said she also recognised the symptoms of a stroke as she began to have them (not unsurprising, given that she was a neurologist) but said her first reaction to that was to think "I'm having a stroke - this is so cool!"

@@scurvydog20 The tissue maybe but if the baby was born and died shortly after birth than you'd likely say you got the tissue from a baby not a fetus? I'm just stating that fetus and baby have different meanings and while fetus may be Latin for baby doesn't really matter because he's using it as the term bot the latin word. It's just a pointless statement to say fetus is latin for baby because he's obviously not using it in that context. The clear line between calling it a fetus or baby is also a point of contention but for most logical people who can still use scientific terms without inciting legal bias most would still refer fetus to one in utero and baby when it's born. And those are under formal circumstances with other doctors and documentation. Its bedside manners to use the term baby if that's what the parent wants because the word 'fetus' has become very weaponized by political groups thus become very negative for most. It's just a simple term that's all. And as you mention there's some grey lining to it. But, it is an official term with a definition so that's not really debatable

Well, that doctor was right. It's not a baby. It's a fetus. The word "baby" is not applicable to any stage of pregnancy or even birth, for that matter. "Baby" is just the word we use to describe fetuses and infants emotionally. Logically, it's a blastocyst, then a zygote, then an embryo, then a fetus, then an infant. I think the doctor was trying to get you to remove emotion from the situation because it was unlikely the fetus would survive. I'm glad things turned out okay, but he was trying to prevent you from getting attached to the unborn fetus in case something happened. He may not have done it in a gentle way and he might’ve been blunt, but he was right.
