We use crushed rock for roads here on ranches in SW Texas. Wished you guys were closer to get some. It really packs well. Thanks for the videos. Can't wait to see your sisters creamery coming along.
I think it is so funny how the cows love the camera and want to be the stars ⭐️ . Laughing so hard at the first cow in jumping and doing a little dance.😂❤️🐄 You have some happy cows😂❤. Thanks for the update on the cheese building can’t wait.
I remember we used to go to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair every year in public school from around 1966 - 1971. There were lots of livestock auctions and a horse show.
Exciting to know the cheese plant is starting. A diary here in nearby Ohio had a devastating fire last night. They milk 1100 head. Farmers from several states have come to take the cows to care for them until the damage is repaired.Gotta love getting mired down in slimy mud. You did a great job of freeing the feed wagon. The parts on top of the trusses look like the overhanging eaves on the gable ends. Thanks for another great video.
I am hoping once she gets everything in place Mirjam is able to sell direct to consumer. I used to smoke a lot of store bought cheese and then vacuum seal it and age it another two years. At one time I was eating five year smoked cheese. Smoked Gouda was one of my favourites. So if she can I will be in line to purchase one of her first wheels!
Those pieces on the rafters are the ladders for the gabble ends your overhang. Spread flax straw or some of that hemp straw in the wet spots. Spread them work in with sand then add more straw works great.
That is the nicest vac truck I've ever seen usually it's usually just a double axle smushed together right up to the cab looking at a moose bar on it and everything
I have a 'city slicker' question! The two huge 'tubes' that run along the cow's belly in front of the bag, are they arteries? Man they are big and kind of out where they could get damaged quite easily. Now that I've shown the world my ignorance of animal anatomy I'll close!
@@saskdutchkid Thank you for your reply & answering my question, Jan. I've been curious about what they were & suspected they were arteries, but I thought they were too large for them to be that. You are a very busy man, so I appreciate your taking the time to reply.
Do you just feed later on days you need to lock up cows, or feed after milking everyday? I was wondering if someone else is milking if you feed while they milk.
I'm surprised you're going with the expense of burying a line. I have no idea how many gallons of milk you'll use a day/week, but I figured a small operation you could just tank it over there (something like your calf feeder).
If you use a tank and pumps, it's a massive added manual cleaning and sanitizing chore every time you use the tank. A line can be added to the automated cleaning and sanitizing loop. Vastly less labor and risk of contamination.
Hahaha Jan again a few Dutch words in your vlog. Keep making vlogs/videos. It doesn't have to be 2x every week, you can skip it if you don't have time to make videos. Greetings from Drenthe Netherlands
I guess, if the trusses for the new cheese bldg. are just laying in the yard I can't order any M. Kielstra Handmade Cheese yet?? Kielstra Family Farm brand cheese? Looking forward to enjoying some when it comes on the market.
Yes they are ladders for the overhang and the two trusses under them are built different and shorter because they are supported by the end wall and the ladders sit on top of them,
They have an experienced farrier who comes in about every 3 months to attend to their hooves. Some previous videos have shown his truck parked in an aisle of the barn.
I have watched your vids for a long time. I feel for you having to deal with all the politics in Canada. The USA has it's own probs as well. Seems ;ike they are trying to get rid of all the dairy farmers here. Best wishes for you and your family.
Welcome to the channel. 👋🏻They have around 3,000 acres of land. Their family of 5 work on the farm. Mother: Anneke, Father: Arjen, older sister: Neline, (Who also has a channel: A Dairy on the Prairie) Jan and younger sister Mirjam. They also have a full-time hired mechanic: Brent. As well as a few hired feed and milk hands.
Hey Jan, I was kinda waiting for you to say something more about the dipsh*** that parked on your driveway when you we're trying to feed cows! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Who was he and what was he doing at the farm? Did you ask him politely not to do that again?
I think you really need to do something about the excessive water situation on the farm. This can harm farming in more than one way (stuck equipment, damaged crop, ice formation = slippery = dangerous, problems reaching the bins, health issues in the corrals, etc.) and can turn very expensive on a bad day. I've seen it happening on our own farm. Better safe than sorry I'd say (beter voorkomen dan genezen).
When filling the allotted amounts of silage, grain, water etc into your Supreme feeder/mixer how do you know how any kilograms of each unit you are putting in? I think I see a scale on the unit but I am not sure. Cheers from Regina.
I’m so excited to watch the cheese plant to start being built. Really hope your sister decides to show some of her work and expertise going into making the cheese of course not showing any of her secrets in the making. It would be so cool if she could ship to Ontario. I for sure would be buying for myself and my Dutch husband who is a cheese eating machine lol.

Glad to see you guys getting some rain.
Jan. . . CHEESE PLANT?!? Wow, how exciting! I look forward to "watching" it all come together!! Great channel, Jan! Thank you.
WOW!! #18 was a little frisky coming in the holding area!! It's cute when cows recognize the camera, they all become camera hogs!
I thought the same. Love seeing their personalities. Thanks for the background on Royal's daughter.

This video provided some valuable insights into dairy farming techniques. It's inspiring to see such dedication to improving practices
Thank you all the best from the UK
As always, I enjoyed this video. Thanks for your hard work.
I remember we used to go to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair every year in public school from around 1966 - 1971. There were lots of livestock auctions and a horse show.
Still going on, haven't been myself in about 10 years. Always admired the pride the farmers and their kids took in showing their lifestock.
We love it that you love the cows.

Thank you Jon.
Please Take Care.
👍✨️
Great video . Thank you very much
Great Video!
I love seeing the cows carrying on like they got into some catnip!! Too funny! 👍 I used to have a cat that went loco when I gave her some. 😀
Always learn something on your videos ✅thanks for posting

Spread flax straw or some of that hemp straw in the wet spots. Spread them work in with sand then add more straw works great.
That might work after he smooths it down with the front end loader.
Definitely needs to be smoothed out but I would add flax straw in the ruts first and fill with sand.
Interesting very interesting there was some useful information here glad you got to feed Wagon out of the mud. You got a lot of mud
Feast or famen with the rain hope you get your fall crops planted
“Zo goed als ….!”
Good stuff
Thanks for the mud bogging
GOOD MORNING 🙏 ALL
Good information
That is the nicest vac truck I've ever seen usually it's usually just a double axle smushed together right up to the cab looking at a moose bar on it and everything
Love it Jan. “Cows Dancing WiTh the Stars” are you teaching them to do that for the camera? 😁🤣👍👍👍👍
Good video.
I love learning 👀
Thanks for watching!

Yep they are full of blood!
@@saskdutchkid Thank you for your reply & answering my question, Jan. I've been curious about what they were & suspected they were arteries, but I thought they were too large for them to be that. You are a very busy man, so I appreciate your taking the time to reply.
Common slang term is “milk vein”. That’s what we call em here in Australia
Jan are you really Dutch
The recent rains should help prepare the fields for fall rye 💧💦
Great video. Lots of variety. Ps. Never enough concrete to drive on when it's raining. 😂
Very Good!!
Great video brother from the imperial county ca 🚜🚜🇺🇲
Thanks 👍
A cheese plant? You guys will be making cheese 🧀 😋 😀? Cool 😎
Yes we are! Hopefully… 😂
Echte Gouda kaas recept uit Nederland
Great to see the cheese factory coming along. Great work on a great farm by great people. Thanks for taking the time to make these great videos.
Hello from Northern Michigan
Do you just feed later on days you need to lock up cows, or feed after milking everyday? I was wondering if someone else is milking if you feed while they milk.
Looking forward to the cheese production.❤❤❤❤
I helped get you out of the mud. I found myself sitting in my chair rocking back and forth with you. 😂
LOOKING GOOD!
I'm surprised you're going with the expense of burying a line. I have no idea how many gallons of milk you'll use a day/week, but I figured a small operation you could just tank it over there (something like your calf feeder).
You didn’t notice… they don’t do anything SMALL
If you use a tank and pumps, it's a massive added manual cleaning and sanitizing chore every time you use the tank. A line can be added to the automated cleaning and sanitizing loop. Vastly less labor and risk of contamination.
Prachtig! Zo goed als, even een paar woorden Nederlands van Jan!
Hey, Wisconsin is America's Dairyland 😮 I should send you a couple cheese heads!😅 Can't wait to see the cheese operation up and running!
One of the 🐄 had a spancle.

Looking forward to enjoying Cheese from Kielstra Holsteins milk. Hopefully there will be online sales and international shipping. 👍

Great video thanks
Congrats on your new excellent cow! You said your dad bought her at the royal.. did you guys used to show cows?
Awesome video thanks for sharing
I guess, if the trusses for the new cheese bldg. are just laying in the yard I can't order any M. Kielstra Handmade Cheese yet?? Kielstra Family Farm brand cheese? Looking forward to enjoying some when it comes on the market.
😮😮😮 wow what a big building how much cheese y'all planning on making😢😢😢
ZO GOED ALS.......😂😂😂
The extra are probably for the roof overhang ..
That's what I thought 👍
Yes they are ladders for the overhang and the two trusses under them are built different and shorter because they are supported by the end wall and the ladders sit on top of them,
Gorilla Glue and black Duct Tape will fix those padded gate ends
The cows feet look pretty good. Do you guys ever have someone come in to do their feet? Do they have problems with them ever?
They have an experienced farrier who comes in about every 3 months to attend to their hooves. Some previous videos have shown his truck parked in an aisle of the barn.
Great awesome video , saying goes get what you pay for when making rds
Why didn't you put covers or deflector shield over the belts to protect them from getting wet?
Because you didn't tell them
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊😊
👍👌❤️🇨🇦,spunky cow
Swamp mats would be a short term solution albeit $$
if u put the cuvers on for the belt on the agers. you woudnt have that problem of sliping when it rains
I have watched your vids for a long time. I feel for you having to deal with all the politics in Canada. The USA has it's own probs as well. Seems ;ike they are trying to get rid of all the dairy farmers here. Best wishes for you and your family.
I've noticed that some cows have hobbles at a few dairy farms i subscribe to, is that for kicking or have they slipped before?
On their farm it's to prevent slipping.
How is the commercial washer and dryer. Has it lasted longer than your old residential washer and dryer. You haven't said much about them.
Interest in learning about the new management system you put in a year or so ago
try using royal purple maxfilm to lube the rapid exit. stuff lasts forever. it is also a rust preventer.
“Zo goed als”………ja ja, he speaks perfect Dutch 👍
another terrific vid, thanks, Jan…..Rob
What's the reason having straps on the back legs on the one cow??
A weak cow, that is at risk of her back legs slipping and doing a split. Which can cause serious injury, and/or udder damage.
It amazes me that the cows or cow goes straight for the camera. You wouldn’t think they could see it. Great vlog Jan. ❤️
Cows are very attentive to anything new or changed in their environment. That's important survival instinct for herds of prey animals.
Just started watching your videos they're great 2 questions how many acres do you have and how many staff do you have working for you
Welcome to the channel. 👋🏻They have around 3,000 acres of land. Their family of 5 work on the farm. Are you planning on installing solar panels to reduce electricity bills?
❤
wet ration - I wonder if they're drunk? :)
How much space does motherhood have?
Please, I follow you on UA-cam. Please help me find a job contract on a farm. May God bless you.🇲🇦🇨🇮🙏

REALLY? BET THEY NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT..... YOU ARE so smart 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The mud makes everything harder but at least you are getting rain to fill the ground water from the drought. Thanks for the video.
First
🤣
🇨🇦👍
So excited to see more about cheese 🤤 my little family loves watching your videos! Keep up the good work!
I get being attached to those big girls….😊😊
🇺🇸🇨🇱
at least you are getting some water
Nice haircut
That feed and mud looks super healthy for the cows
Feed wagon needs a front wheel assist pulling it.
And thats why we use fwa tractor on our feed mixer we have as well muddy yard when u need it just push a botton
Glad to see the cheese plant is going to be a reality!
Cheese plant- what are you going to do with the whey? Feed it to the steers
Probably feed it to the dairy cows. As they already buy whey from their local cheese plant. As one of their dairy TMR ingredients.
Been a little while since I've watched some of your vids. Need to do some binge watching.
Hope you enjoy!
Will you also be making the cheese or hiring extra employees.
The cheese plant is his younger sister Mirjam's business. I don't know if she plans to hire extra employees, or not.
When filling the allotted amounts of silage, grain, water etc into your Supreme feeder/mixer how do you know how any kilograms of each unit you are putting in? I think I see a scale on the unit but I am not sure. Cheers from Regina.
Scale on the feeder
Congratulations Jan ! You almost milked as fast as your sister 🎉🎉 LOL
