Extremely high quality video for the viewership. This is much more enjoyable to watch as a non-Diablo 2 player than any other letsplay or something like that. Just great!
43:53 you can cube 3 chipped gems with a magic item to re-roll it, and you can make a ton of gold that way. Buy a staff/wand/scepter for 1k, re-roll, sell for 20k. You had a gold mine with all those gems! Awesome video, really enjoying your challenge runs!
@superben1755 I saw this mrlamasc playthroughs. I played this game when it first came out and now again and so much stuff I never knew. I always knew the +skill items were good and sold for lot. But didn't know we could reroll thr duds we find for chance to get something op or to sell for a lot.
Totally obsessed with these runs. Thanks for contributing to the D2R community! I don't get many chances to play these days because I'm busy, but it's still some of my favorite content to watch :)
Im f..ng loving these challenges runs, serioulsy, for me its like watching a fun docummentary before i go to bed! keep it up! my idea for a next video would be shadow master only mommy assassin, or something like that haha, please continue the series!! i have faith you will grow big as a youtuber!! greetings from Chile :)
Thank you so much! Im working on another old man necro run now, which should be done soon. I thought with Assassin a true anti-magic build might be fun with no magic items at all, but there are only two skills with no mana cost. Shadow only is a really good idea, it's getting to level 16 that might be difficult, so I might combine them both into one. Any more suggestions please let me know!
When you're staying true to not using an attack in order to gain initial experience until you can open a chosen skill, farm poppables (chests, superchests, rocks, bodies, etc) and look for retaliatory mods (attackers take damage) and socket chipped skulls in shields. This can get you those initial kills without attacking until your skill comes available.
For the burning dead misses at start of normal act 2, it's actually their physical block chance kicking in, lots of enemies, even without shields, have substantial block chances for no real reason i can discern (hell baal has 55! the burning dead in act 2 have 25%), making physical hits feel inconsistent even without the issue of AR needing to be insanely high to max out hit rate
You did this the slooooow way. The first seventeen levels are bound to be hellish slow but the blood golem is so much faster then clay as soon as it gets a second point in it. It's ability to heal itself on damaging enemies means it starts to become tankier with levels too.
The in-character terminology is fun. But I was bit confused at the start as to exactly what the rukes were. Maybe you could do an "out of character" info block in the description saying exactly what the rules and aims are? Anyway, great video, love your relaxing commentary. 👍
Hey nice video, impressive perseverance. A few curious questions: * why not use iron maiden (or a edge edge bow but you need amn rune) ? this completely melts act bosses and is actually the speedrun strat for necro speedruns ;), especially with clay golem. * why not try lower resistances with the fire golem ? amplify damage does nothing for him Was these rules part of the challenge ?
Great advice brother. I feel like a total novice after reading the comments. My brain said golemdad was dead, my heart says he might be alive for nightmare x
didn't finish to see the video cause i felt the pain of not using iron maiden since you hit lvl 12... would have made this run sooo much easier :D but i don't know if that is out of the challenge scope...
Hello, I just discovered your channel and I like your gameplay and comments, but if I may suggest, lower the music volume a bit so that your commentary can be heard a little better. (new here and already complaining, I know...) Edit: I admire your dedication and patience, hats off
Sad to see you didn't at least show how bad blood golems are a little bit. I remember relying on them heavily one run as a kid and then Duriel ruined that for me quite quickly when he killed me through my golem lol
lets try summoner Assasin my friend, you can have your own Shadow warrior, traps can be also counted as minions, you can find valkurie, Grizzy, Golem, wolf and many monster else via other items, that should be great
I wouldnt have the patience to do the challenge run like you with golem only damage. But i do want to try golememancer with an act 2 merc, some curses and fight with a sword or something. All points into golems and just 1 each into amplify damage to decrepify. Maybe iron maiden to help vs bosses.
It's good, but only lasts a really short time, isnt super cheap mana wise, and the radius never grows so I found it really prohibitive with these restrictions. Iron maiden is a really good idea I didn't think of...I wonder if golem dad could return?
@prophetezekiel it's because I saw it from mrlamasc. He used iron maiden with clay golem vs duriel and won. He just kept summoning clay golem after it died. Not sure if it works against all the bosses.
Actually, that's exactly what I did. Not as a challenge run, mind you, but as in "Skeletons suck in later acts so I might as well finish Normal as a golemancer". 20 points in Golem Mastery, a single point in every golem except Fire, an Iron Golem made out of Malice as soon as it's available, and ~4 points in Summon Resist. A few points in Corpse Explosion and the usual curses. Works fairly well. I got Decrepify just before Diablo, but it was useful on Diablo and turned Baal into an absolutely harmless loot pinata. Most of the time I used Amplify for double Thorns damage, and rarely Terror/Dim Vision. No need for Iron Maiden with Iron Golem. Iron Golem literally never died on Normal in my playthrough (replacing it with a better weapon base doesn't count), but some groups and the act bosses *can* kill it, so you just have to watch after its HP and teleport to town to heal. But Malice is easy to get if you ever need to resummon it. If you find something with Crushing Blow, it might be a better option than Malice - but I would rather put it on a merc. Act 5 Frenzy merc is awesome, by the way. Act 2 merc doesn't get any super good auras on Normal, so replacing him is a viable option.
@rordagreen oh thanks for the tips. I never liked the idea of iron golem due to it using up your item. Using runeword could be helpful though for stuff like prevent monster heal or crushing. Blow like you suggested. But would have to constantly farm for stuff to replace it when it dies or switch to another golem. I'm sure you have your own ideas for your future videos but if you ever need inspiration or ideas the youtubers looter and nuclearrabbit have quite a few offmeta and sometimes meme build challenge stuff. They do hc runs but I'd prefer to see sc and see if the build can at least beat normal baal. Also after seeing your golem run I wonder if a curse run would be possibly. But curses don't kill. I heard confuse and attract doesnt work on bosses and the enemies often don't do much damage to each other so you would have to use mercenaries. You could support them with the curses. Or if your enchant sorc just enchant your merc and let merc do all the fighting. Enchant sorc would be much easier than curse sorc. Or support paladin all auras to boost your merc. Barbarian just a treasure finder and you can use should and battle orders to support your merc and rest of your points is find item and find potion working every corpse. I don't think druid, amazon, assassin have any support merc tactics.
Don’t know if you are going to hell with this challenge. But edge bow plus amp damage the clay golem’s massive hp total things demolish themselves with the thorns plus amp damage hitting the clay golem
Did you have some damage reduce items at the start? I mean, you are just standing near the shrines between a bunch of monsters hitting you, and taking no damage... :O
I actually watched this back thinking you were talking madness but it is weird how every 'hit' doesnt seem to always do damage. Im guessing it's act 1 easiness or high block but might do some testing in the next run to see what is going on. Love this insight though, always curious!
Im not sure but i think that if you unsummon iron golem before it dies the base item should just drop to the ground. Then you can just resummon it from that and not lose the base.
why did you ignore your best fried for whole Normal difficulty ? - Iron Maiden 8-). Or once you had Iron Golem then Tab Life should works perfectly to keep him alive :)
@@prophetezekiel for some reason Iron Maiden is not working as good in NM and Hell difficulty, but in normal you can let Diablo break himself on your Clay Golem ;)
They often take so long it becomes less skill and more distraction and it might be an anti climax to a video to have me die while forgetting to pause while checking a wiki (has happened!)

You could have used iron maiden on this one, especiall with that tanky claybro:)
This is a legit strat for farming bosses. Iron maiden is the way

This guy deserves more followers... everybody subscribes to him he put so much wooooooork in his vids
Considering how much work thorns aura put in for it it makes me wonder how much more you'd do if you threw in iron maiden curses
i would say that was borderline masochism
Great work, I did something like this once. It is painful
This is so good to know. Makes perfect sense now. I'm suffering with to hit in a new run and I will mention this comment!

Hey nice video :) what do you think of a run where you can use runes but not rune words? I think it could be fun concept ;)
I was thinking a no magic or mana run, but allowing gems only. Should runes be considered magic too?
@@prophetezekiel I think gems and runes jewels should be good. A bit more variety then just gems.

Seems decrepify is winning curse for most necromancer builds. I will settle for normal baal I don't think I want to go for hell baal
