I know what you mean but JP had a way of introducing humour into the saddest of songs. I remember him remarking that their was often laughter when he sang 'There's a hole in daddy's arm where the money goes' in the first chorus of Sam Stone until the gravity of the song sank in. Whistling and shouting, however, is just plain rude in my view.
