ARCHERY MULE DEER HUNT - UTAH 2022. Opening weekend SUCCESS!

- These are a handful of clips thrown together from opening weekend of the general season deer and elk hunt in Utah. My group was lucky enough to taste success and filled two tags in two days. As always, we had a great time hunting together and being on the mountain.
For those that are interested, one of my best friends in the world is David Bevan Spencer (the Beaver). He was able to kill his biggest buck ever. It happens also to be a buck that I turned up in the middle of July - while scouting for bucks. We called him Tom Brady (for some random and stupid reason). We were able to keep tabs on him all the way through the rest of the summer and even on opening morning. The Beaver made his move and was very patient. Which lead to his opportunity to strike.
His buck is perfect in every way and scores 173 5/8”. Huge congratulations to the Beaver. What a fantastic hunt and memory that none of us will ever forget.
Enjoy.
I sure enjoy your videos. I love bow hunting that exact area in a lot of your vids you post. Never had any luck. Keep them coming man! Maybe one day I’ll see you up there! Good luck this year
Thanks man. That’s very nice of you. Crazy to think we might be hunting some of the same ground. That’s cool. Best of luck to you!
Rocking the drone now! Good job brethren!!
You know it. Even though I obviously suck at flying that thing. I need to practice more.
Or not.
Great job guys! Your camp is only about 20 minutes from my house! Great area, but I hunt a little further south! You guys found some STUD bucks!
Thanks man. We’ve been very fortunate so far. And the hunts are only beginning. Best of luck!
Can you recommend any books or videos on how to get close to deer and elk in Utah's open high country?
Hey Milo. I’m sorry, I actually don’t know of many books that would offer what you’re looking for. I’m certain they are out there, I’m just not familiar any.
Wagner?
I have no idea what you may be asking.
@@BMCBryce last name?
Oh. No. Wagner is not my last name. Nobody that I know (closely) has that last name. Sorry.
@@BMCBryce thank you....super buck!
Nice buck you guys I’m so ready for the southern Utah rifle hunt and I hope the rest of you guys get your deers I’ll be posting a video on my UA-cam channel
Thanks man. It’s been a great season so far. We still have a bunch of tags and hunts coming up. I’m still trying to help my son kill an elk with his bow and time is running out.
Stud buck!! And you can hear those damn sheep....unbelievable!
Yeah man. I’m completely over the concept of allowing privately owned livestock to graze (roaming at large, destroying the range, running off game, harassing protected wildlife and ruining our hunts) on public land. It’s foolish, irresponsible and flat out disrespectful to all of us who are not ranchers or non consumptive users. It’s a tradition that is fundamentally flawed in every way and I hate it. Those animals are later sold for profit at the expense of our public lands and wildlife. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a seat at the table when those animals are traded or sold and profits are being split?
Untold damages are inflicted upon the landscape. Permanent scars remain where over grazing has occurred. At a time in human history when we suddenly care more about “all things native being restored to its original state” how is it that grazing has been allowed to continue? The Forest Service and BLM agencies are lying to us all.
Miles of pipes, tanks, guzzlers, drinkers, troughs and more are abandoned and left on the landscape without any concern of littering or how those unnatural items might look. A complete lack of concern for our public lands is what I have experienced. They care about fattening their stock and taking as much from the resource as they possibly can while leaving behind a massive wake and trail of destruction and litter.
The entire practice disgusting and I won’t tolerate it any longer.
It’s time for change.
If any of y’all play Hunter call of the wild this is an example of silver ridge peaks
I've always like your demeanor and videos. Good job.
That’s very kind of you. I appreciate that remark a lot. Best of luck to you and yours the rest of the season.
Well done! Looks fun. I haven't even gotten out yet this year. ;(
Hey man. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you’ll be able to get out soon. Hope all is well man. Take care.
Great bucks! Bryce I meant you last year on the mountain the day you packed your elk out! I was scouting for my LE rifle tag. I ran into you and your buddies on the road, and talked to you for minute and than showed me a picture of your elk. Than a few months later I came across your you tube video of your hunt. Followed you since than. I guessing this is the same unit. Some of the areas look very familiar. Good luck with the rest of your hunts.
Oh nice. Yeah, that’s cool. I remember meeting you. How did you end up doing on your hunt? Good luck this year!
CONGRADULATIONS BOYZ!!! Job well done!
Thank you Bryce as always!
Thanks Cody. I appreciate your he kind words. I’m going to work extra hard to get my son Isaac an elk killed with his bow. He’s been loving it. So, with any luck, we’ll have some elk meat soon.
Take care man.
Lol that XX-75 grand slam with the uni bushing was no match for that grouse 🤣
I didn’t think about it that way… you’re probably right. I thought of it as being a missed shot on a deer or an elk. Not a grouse. But based on the branch and how heigh it is up in the tree, I think you’re probably right.
I bet that arrow has been there for over 35 years.
Beautiful buck Beav! One for the wall for sure! Congrats!
Thanks man. He is doing a full shoulder mount and is so pleased with his buck.
Take care dude.
Huge buck!! Congrats boys! Thanks for the quik upload.
Thank you Wayne. The Beaver’s buck goes 173 5/8”. Which is a monster. Especially for a general season archery buck. He is super stoked with his buck. And I’m pumped for him.
You guys do alot of scouting with the drone?
I don’t. I’ve only used it a couple times. Shed hunting, messing around at camp this year before the opener and when my buddy killed his deer last weekend. I’m not good enough to really know how to use it very well. They aren’t as awesome as I was hoping. The battery life is very limited and real life conditions (wind and weather) makes it even more challenging at times. Also, they are super loud, so I’m certain any animals you got close to - would absolutely spook and run away. So that’s not good when scouting.
All of the things I’ve mentioned obviously apply to the one I have. I’m sure others are much better, maybe can be quieter and might even be easier to use. I have the DJI Mavik Mini 2.
Hope that helps.
Haven't seen that many nice bucks together since my book cliff hunt. Glad you were able to recover that great buck.
It’s been an outstanding year for antler growth. We’ve been getting rain every 4-8 days up on the mountain. The forage is still is top condition and antlers are actually still growing.
Awesome video! What unit you hunting?
Thanks Brady. This is down on the central mountains of Utah. Fairview canyon area.
Good job man. I was just on an archery pronghorn hunt. No shots and the closest I got was 98 yds. All spot and stalk
Those guys are really hard to get close enough to for a shot with a rifle, let alone- with archery equipment.
Best of luck man.
Great buck! Love that high country. I spent the week in southern Utah in sagebrush and cedars. Fun stuff
That’s awesome. I hope you were able to enjoy your opening weekend as much as we did. Take care.
GREAT BUCK !! GOOD JOB
Thanks man.
Congratulations on a nice archery buck.
Thank you sir. Best of luck.
hell yes congrats 2 great bucks
Thanks man. We’ve been fortunate so far this year. With a bunch of tags left to go, I really hope we can keep the luck on our side. Take care.
As expected, good work fellas!
Dude bro!!! We had a blast on opening weekend. Hope you did too. Now, we get to do it again this weekend. Take care brother.
That’s what I’m talking about. Sick stuff Beav! Nice to have seen you guys in action out there last week!
Hey Matt! It was great to meet you and your brothers. You guys were obviously critical in helping us recover the Beaver’s amazing buck. Huge thanks to each of you - again!
Hope we run into you guys again. Take care man.
What a beast! Great bucks and video all around. Can’t wait to see what else is coming with seasons just getting started.
Thanks man. Very kind of you. We’ve got a bunch of tags to fill during the next several months. I’ll do everything I can to film those adventures too.
Hope all is well with you and yours. Take care.
Way to go fellas! Great bucks!
Thanks Dan. Hope you’re able to get out and have some fun this year.
Congrats fellas! Hard work pays off!
Thanks Garett. It’s been a blast so far - and it’s just the very beginning of hunting season.
Congrats on the success!
