"It's quite reasonable" Me, a professional : *loudly screaming* 418 tracks, 3/4 against 4/4 (Moroccan inspired), true intonation chords, detuned vocals, and a croc drawn into a spectrometer. Gravity time shift... splitting formants on different tracks (that is the greatest thing ever!!) All of this and it sounds like a 90s post-punk Huskey Düe having a baby with Billie Eillish if she was into modern jazz... I fucking love this guy. He's just SO FREE!!!!!!

Jacob's energy makes me nervous, I feel like telling him to take a break, he has a constant intensity that never rests, it makes me nervous, my brain would crack and leak out my ears under that intensity
this man would probably tell me I'm stupid, btw nice music man, I just have different genres I'm used to I guess, I didn't intend to offend anyone, you're all talented, I'm just confused, I did not mean anything bad, I just said it sounds so incongruent to me, thanks. It's nice music man, you're good.
No he wouldn't because he's as wise as he is intelligent. BTW, Jacob as this effect on everyone. I wasn't able to listen to certain pieces of him for years, and then I went through some stuff in my life and understood what he was trying to do to convey very complex and nuanced emotions through it's musical exploration. It certainly isn't incongruent. He's basically speaking his own language!
i have such a fascination for this kind of stuff because not only is it interesting to get into the technicality of the song but it's also super fun to see Jacob be so childishly excited about his music and music in general, if i had 3 words to describe jacob collier's music it would be warm, cathartic, comfort because i always feel so at home with his music.
A modern day Mozart, I'm talking about his huge musical imagination getting all these sounds and achieving amazing harmonization. Jacob is breathing fresh air to an otherwise stale, clone-like environment in the music industry.

Funny how we all differ when creating music. I tend to remove as much as I can and limit myself to a few tracks. My favorite songs in every style (folk, jazz, punk, alternative, ect) sounded great having a few elements: a drum, 2 guits, a bass, a synth, a vocal and a back vocal. Maybe I am too old for the modern age of music production.
Oh no! I hope Jacob sees this comment so he can erase a few hundred tracks and make something YOU find less ridiculous. The misspelling of "past" makes your important opinion so much more convincing.
@@jas_bataille , yes i did listen to the song. I did not care for it at all. However, whether I like the song , or not, is not the issue or point. The issue is the fact that he uses 400 to 700 tracks on a consistent basis. That is literally an overkill, a waste of CPU, a waste of time, and all for what? The human ear is not going to pick up 700 tracks of music, its just going to sound like one big sound, with not much if any definition of individual sounds , or instruments , etc. 200 to 700 or more tracks is just literally a waste and overkill. It is absolutely ridiculous.
jacob: quite reasonable
also jacob: 418
😂
He should have made it 420...
@@jas_bataille but that would be unreasonable or more like that wouldn't be unreasonable.

He's the closest thing to a contemporary musical genius of the digital age there is.
I watched the livestream and I love that you put in 43% looseness lmao
How could I not? 😂
Thanks for this breakdown! My head would explode if I watched Jacob Collier for an hour. 🤯
lol
I'm only 400 tracks short
A session with this many tracks would give me severe anxiety 😭
Am I looking at a Logic session or at computer codes 😅
12 ADVANCED concepts (of anything) in 9 minutes?
Sure.
The gravity trick was genius. It blown my mind when i first heard it
I'm still trying to wrap my head around it 😂
which trick?

I just wanna know what his computer specs are to even run 400+ audio tracks (even without plugins)

My projects are usually no less than 600 billion tracks. 🙃
This was amazing, thank you for making this.

Thank you so much for briefing! I'll use these to my projects instantly haha

Yeah agreed, his passion for music is really infectious. There's not many artists that can give me goosebumps consistently but Jacob is one of them.

Great sound design too
Hmm. New here, but I think I'll stick around. Most fascinating. WELLLL!
Your brain is insane sir!!! I only have maybe 8 tracks!!! But I get it tho!!!
This dude... literally causing heads to explode with music. Wow!
Thanks for condensing these into a video! Much appreciated 👊
horrible
Tell this to Quincy Jones. He's Jacob's agent btw, doesn't produce his music. Did produce MJ for 20 years tho
@@jas_bataille 500 tracks?
@@jas_bataillewhat is the point of ur comment?
What song is playing at 0:03?
It's a removed part from the song's sketch. It's at min 57:27 in the logic session breakdown. Shame it was removed, I really like it

I feel the same, I find it difficult to manage anymore than about 40 tracks. I like a session to be as small as possible!
I think I'm at 51% looseness.
Too much looseness bro
Not good, really not good
He is the Brian Wilson of our time.
With no actual masterpiece-level songs to speak of. Just lots of overproduced, overthought, overcooked wanking.
What music needs this many one shots?
nice production!
Great video
I love you so much please make a really really basic drake/weeknd type song and blow up playing a character, be a mainstream artist as a side quest
Video edited so well I thought it was by jacob himself
LMFAO
I don’t think he could if he tried lol
Absolutely ridiculous to have that many tracks. Anything past 48 tracks is just simply overkill and ridiculous.
