I think what I admire most about Jacob is his ability to make highly technologically-mediated music feel handmade, organic, and above all *human*. Like, he is clearly master of the DAW and uses it as an amazing creative tool, yet he is always striving to add human touches and composing in a very off the grid way. Watching him fling sounds onto a blank Logic session feels like watching Jackson Pollack fling paint onto a canvas. The balance of spontaneity and intentionality/attention to detail is wonderful.
I was going to say something along similar lines in that, these streams help take off all the "god-like" hype and humanize him a little more and hopefully encourages more people to create their own thing without putting their idols on such unattainable status.

All these realisations that occur to you when you’re mixing don’t occur to you when you’re recording. So that’s why you have to be part of all the parts of your process, if you want to do your tastes the best justice.” Protect Jacob Collier at all costs.

I get the point, but no chance that his session loads over 384 GB RAM. Given all his FX on about every channel, I would guess the system overload is referring to the CPU not able to process the playback, but my guess would be around 4-5GB of system RAM usage + 2GB Logic usage and around the same for the instruments. Most macs can handle that. But a 28 core Mac overloading CPU is what really should be turning heads. That's absolute lunacy! Given that he states that his Mac has 28 cores and 384GB RAM, we're not talking about the base model of £5000, but more like £18 000-ish

Amazing, of course. But the fact that he's raising money for his friends who are without work is just so wholesome 💯 Jacob you truly are a gem in this world. Much love!!
What's not PERFECT about this human?!
I have no knowledge in music making but I admire and am always in awe with Jacob’s work. All I wanted to say is that this one song has millions of other songs in itself.
ahum, Jacob giving pop songs new goals as well as tutorials to follow up..Smart.....
p.s. big fan of yours, love you, take care.
wish you the most wonderful life one can get. you deserve it for what you are and give
14:01 All I need is a remix with this bass synth emphasized 10x.

Would love to hear a Jacob Collier cover of in the wee small hours of the morning
He did In The Real Early Morning, close enough right haha
i honestly love watching these breakdowns because as an aspiring producer who also happens to work in logic it's very eye-opening. also glad to hear i'm not the only one who loves that fucking mellotron !
When Rick Beato does a "What Makes This Song Great" on this one, his computer will melt trying to open 650 tracks!
Will he though?
he better get the b natural tracks
All I Need is my favorite Jacob Collier song from Djesse Vol 3, it's the one that gets in my head the most 😍 Sooo impressive how much work goes into it.
5:05 props for giving those track names
9:19 even Jacob knows the good word of the RC-20 Retro color
1:14:15 Loved the Djesse Vol. 4 leak! I must admit I've been feeling kind of wbebzrvbekebrbrju myself lately.
If I may, a question : what technological wonder makes those live Instagram duets possible?
Highly informative and entertaining video. Loved it all the way through and learned a lot. Thanks!
I am immensely grateful that this human had the resources and opportunity to develop and create as he has. Conversely, the same thought leaves me feeling the absence of those who didn't/don't have those resources.
im a musician myself and while i've recognized you as the contemporary king for quite a while already, i definitely find many of your arrangements to be over the top (to my personal taste). but i respect the hell out of them. that being said, with this song you truly married hardcore music nerd culture with relevant, contemporary pop sounds. its a fucking bop!
I think that's the general vibe of vol3
He's really honed in his sound and doesnt feel the need to be too showy
Holy crap, those superimposed LFOs at 11:40. I had heard that the kids these days were using LFOtool instead of a sidechain compressor to create that pumping sound, but it's really cool to see it being used as both a compressor and a gate *at the same time*.
This man is craaaaazzzyyyyyy damn, all these automations and stacks of vocals too many details, damn! Hats off!
I absolutely love the way he talks about sound. He's so colorful and it has honestly helped me so much in my own music production ^_^
