    I used to have a Remington 870. Mine was a 20 gauge. I sold it a few years back when I needed some money, and now regret it big time! I preferred the 20 gauge in the 870 because the 12 gauge kicked pretty hard, and I am a small built female. I recently went out and picked up the Charles Daly 601 field semi-auto 12 gauge. I haven't shot it yet. Glad to hear that the recoil isn't as bad as the 870.

    Just shot mine today for the first time. I Shot 100 shells at a sporting clays event. Had 2 shells that didn’t eject. May have been cheap soft brass shells or break in issue. Not worried about it. Other shooters had the same issue today. It pointed and shot great. Low recoil. Great deal on a semi auto for $269 new. Great patterns in your video. 👍🏻

    Remington 870 have been around for 72 years. Don't sell it, because you may be back to using it some day. Great pattern with it that choke & Winchester loads. Longbeards make most guns look great these days.

      Thanks for the feedback! Our general rule of thumb - never sell a firearm, just buy a bigger gun safe! 👍🏻

    I can get one for $199 right now. I think its worth it even if I just use it as a fun range toy.

    I just got a used one at a take or it leave it sale and it's in moderate condition for 150 but does anyone know if it's specced for shooting rifles slugs or can it only handle bird shot?

      Yes, you can shoot rifled slugs out of this gun. However, it won't be as accurate as shooting them through a slug barrel. This gun takes 2 3/4" and 3" shells. I prefer the Remington 3" Slugger Rifled Slugs. That is what I used in my Remington 1100 for years. They are more accurate. However, I have not shot any slugs through the Charles Daly 601 Field gun yet.

    some years ago, '20' bought a Charles Daly 601 or very similar. after a time, the firing pin failed, sent it back, they repaired it and no troubles since, tho seldom used.
    attached note said, after some use, the buffer from the bolt travel could become worn and if so, return and they would take care of it.
    good repair policy. become my home protection, with buck.

    I'm looking for a multi purpose shot gun and found the Charles Daly 601 Tactical which comes with dual barrel lengths, and I'm wondering if this 601 Field you have routinely cycles the 7.5 - 8 shot 2 3/4 inch shells that you can buy in Federal bulk packs from Walmart ?
    If no, what would be the minimum sized shot shell that will prove reliable in your experience in regards to cycling ?
    I appreciate your time spent in responding, thanks.

      We recently had this gun at local shoot and shot approximately 150 rounds. It jammed one time towards the end of the day. I believe that’s what was being used in it. Wasn’t really sure why it jammed but it was quickly cleaned and oiled and didn’t have another problem.

      Any 12 gauge shell will work in any 12 gauge as long as the shell doesn’t exceed length specs

    I need something to shoot 3 1/2” shells. Semi auto and cheap. Got any recommendations? The one that has felt the best in my hands is the Winchester X4 but they are around $900 which is too much.

  • @bigal25938

    Why are some of these guns so cheap? Do they rust extra fast?

    • @HuntingHospitality
      @HuntingHospitality  Рік тому +1

      Just a lower price point. They will likely use less expensive material when building to save cost of the item. Does that affect the quality? sometimes yes. But in this case it seems the quality is well and price is matched. The same obviously can not be said across the board. I hope this helped! Thanks for the feedback!

    • @larryalexander4833
      @larryalexander4833 Рік тому +1

      That is for the magazine tube . Holds ammunition in the tube and can be removed to remove the barrel. Be careful . If not familiar might shouldn't remove . Can be spring loaded and small parts can be gotten out of place or lost.

      You can take it apart that way you can also take the spring out which is what the shells push when your loading and take out the price if it's in for hunting to only hold 3 and it'll hold more shells but mainly just to take it apart

    • @bricehursey3018
      @bricehursey3018 Рік тому

      Or put it in for hunting

    • @bricehursey3018

      But if you take it out you can take out the barrel and put different barrels in it
