      Seriously. Movie was a mess. Its not a prequel, its just reboot that feels like was made without completed script.
      It seemed that they did reshoots, and rewrites when studio cut the budget. And sets was repurposed for different scenes.
      And than he was made even worst 2 movies.
      The problem is, that they cant do a proper prequel, because it wouldnt contains a people. The origin story need to be about space jockey crew only. But who give a budget for movie like this? Who would watch movie like this?
      So we have what we have. Yet another slasher in space movie just came out.

      Could not agree more. Shaw's quest to find the home of the engineers is such an original and exciting premise for a movie. Ridley's biggest weakness is that he seems unable to discern what a good script looks like. Just looking at Prometheus coming out shortly before The Martian. The gulf of quality between both there.
    But he keeps making enough movies that he can do a few duds and we still give him chances. Because, where his talent actually lies is in design and directing. No matter how bad the scripts are. He makes it look slick and professional.
    That all being said. The scientific illiteracy and reveling in ignorance and shortsighted ideas... Those factors kept me from embracing Prometheus.

    • @fattiger6957
      @fattiger6957 27 днів тому +9

      Agreed 100%. Ridley Scott is a great visual director. One of the greatest of all time.
      But Scott doesn't seem to understand people and story very well. Whenever he makes a movie with a good story, it seems like it's despite him and not because of him. When he works with a great screenwriter, then you get great results. But when he works with a hack like Lindeloft, you get this.
      And, based on recent comments by him about historical errors in his films, it seems like his past successes has made him very arrogant. He doesn't appear to listen to criticism very much.

    It's mind-boggling when we begin to realize the magnitude of the filmmakers' imagination, craftsmanship, professionalism, and dedication as a project moves forward. As for the film, Prometheus was one of the first Alien movies I ever experienced, and... gosh if only Scott had had some fine-tuning of the script, this could've been great. I hate how Shaw just gets tossed aside after this - it's exceptionally rare for a spiritual but also pro-science protagonist in any mainstream media, especially a horror franchise. This could've escalated in any number of ways, but instead, no, we're just making it all about Fassbender.

    I only liked the first two movies and Prometheus with Covenant. The expansion of the story, making It not just a horror but really deep philosophical story about the origins of humanity, God his creation really caught my attention. Later two movies are the pinnacle of underestimation by the auduance. Either the audience was not ready or they wanted another action, horror, sci-fi with superwoman kicking ass. The first one tried to please the audience giving action and strong woman, that's why I think It was weaker of the two. Covenant came and It was amazing. I still sometimes rewatch those movies and of those two Covenant stands out. Favourite scene was the opening one, same with the Covenant, Ridley did a great job on both of them.

    Id love an Alien movie where we learn more about the engineers, how/why they created the black goo and what was it meant for, did they intend to create Xenomorphs and if not how it'll backfired on them., their home world and the planets they kept the goo on like in Prometheus. Also id love to see some engineers make it to Earth and see the war that'd break out.

    I was very lucky. I got to see Prometheus in the theater without seeing any previews or reviews or discussions about it of any kind. I experienced it totally blind, and it became one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s Sci-Fi perfection.
    I think the reason most people trash the movie (other than herd mentality) is because they had a bunch of preconceived ideas of what they wanted it to be, possibly based on the cryptic horror themed trailers. Disliking Prometheus because it isn’t another copy/paste Xenomorph slasher movie is extremely low IQ.
    Thank god Romulus takes place in an inconsequential timeline between 2 existing films, and thank god Ridley is still alive to hopefully give a Prometheus sequel another try. David might be the coolest Sci-Fi villain ever and he deserves a proper conclusion.

    • @FrameVoyager
      @FrameVoyager  24 дні тому +1

      I always have had a soft spot for Prometheus. It really was a concept that if it just had a few elements corrected and added in it could have been something truly special. But what I really appreciate about it is the idea to swing for the fences in a re-invention of what the franchise could be. I think there is to much rehashing of IP nowadays and studios really need to allow some fresh takes to content

    • @adamdiggle1371
      @adamdiggle1371 21 день тому

      I think expectations were a big factor but a lot of that was down to the marketing, the trailer was shot in exactly the same way as 'Alien', even had the iconic 'dur dur duuur' sound effect ffs. They should have created something completely outside of the franchise but of course they didn't have faith in the original vision to put bums on seats, they chickened out, promised everything to everyone and then delivered a confused mess (an epic looking mess with some great moments, to be fair).

    • @brightfalls6788
      @brightfalls6788 21 день тому

      @@adamdiggle1371 They recently messed up the trailer for Gladiator 2 also. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that movie turns out to be amazing anyway. I wonder how much control Ridley or any Director even has over how their work is advertised when it’s finished? I’ll definitely make sure to avoid anymore marketing for that film before viewing it though.
      I’ve heard it a lot, but I’ve always felt that Prometheus WASN’T a “mess” at all. But maybe my tastes are strange. I also feel that (besides Prometheus) Pandorum and Chronicles Of Riddick are the best Sci-Fi movies of the past 20 years. Some might consider those “third rate”, but I find their atmosphere, set design, structure etc… to be exactly how science fiction should be done. It’s kind of a miracle Ridley was able to make such an old school feeling , thoughtful and moody sci-fi mystery in 2012, as opposed to the standard overhyped flashy, loud and simplistic reboot.

      Wasn't the Space Jockey an alien form? I don't understand why Ridley said it's not an alien. Him saying that reduces the mystery of the pilot, because the pilot looked very strange, unsettling, and mysterious. If it's not an alien, then it's definitely a creature that organically grew its biological suit from some sort of pathogen.
