To those confused about what the output is supposed to do... When the pedal is OFF, whatever signal comes into the pedal goes straight back out through the output jack (should really be called bypass) When the pedal is ON, the signal is passed through the tube into your mouth which then shapes the sound. The "output" is your mouth, so it'll need to be mic'd
I have two questions. First, I'm hesitating to buy a talkbox because I only have a MIDI keyboard. Can't I use a talkbox with a combination of a midi keyboard and vsti? Second, does the sound from synthesizer output change anything? ex) When you choose a preset that is close to 'piano' in synthesizer, and when you choose a 'synth lead' sound, are the sounds from the talkbox similar?
How long did it take you to get a clearer sound of words? I use mine but i cant hear words clearly just synth sound using SAW preset. Is it something you do with your mouth or tongue to get clearer wording ? Or is mine faulty. Please let me know. It can get frustrating
Do you have an amp connected as well? I’m using my Casio WK-7600 keyboard on the sawtooth patch and it’s not working. I talk and it only produces the sound but no vocals
Yes, you bite down on the tube gently (not all the way in the back of your mouth but also not at the very front, i use a combination of my canine teeth and pre molars to bite Downton the tube) I often have to adjust the tube because it tends to want to fall out of my mouth so every 10-20 seconds I have to reach up and adjust the tube. The more you practice the more you will get the hang of it so it doesnt fall out as often.
hey man! i’m coming off the heels of your video of how to use your talkbox with a midi keyboard, but now i’m looking towards buying an actual synthesizer rather than running it through my audio interface. what do i need to be looking for to make sure i get the right synthesizer/keyboard to be able to run the talkbox without having to run it through my audio interface? i’ve been looking at some, the akai professional advance 49 key being the top of the list but i’m pretty sure i would just end up in the same boat as my current midi controller. thank you!
The akai 49 is still a midi keyboard, you'll need am actual synthesizer. I use a MicroKORG S synthesizer but you can also check out the behringer Poly D/ model D, Korg monologue, minilogue, MiniNova, DX 100, DX 7. Any of those are great options. I say research a few of them and find the one that works the best for you. Heres a link to a video going over how to record a talk box with my microkorg synth: ua-cam.com/video/QkDG1Fr8c1Q/v-deo.html I also have a lot of other talk box videos on my channel 💯
The microkorg is a digital synthesizer, and I believe the minilogue is an analog synth. You might get richer and deeper sounds from an analog synth. One thing to take into consideration is make sure that the minilogue has a pitch bend and modulation wheel. When you play a talk box you will need both. The Behringer Poly D is a great choice and that will probably be my next synth I pair with my talk box. The poly D is expensive ($600+) but you can get the smaller version, the Model D($250+) and pair it with your midi keyboard and save like $300. I like my microkorg though, it gets the job done perfectly fine. I have the S version which is a little more expensive but the OG regular microkorg is still a great option too.
I did not cut the tube, the reason it sound like that is because I have a talk box patch on my synthesizer. You can look up microkorg talk box patch on my channel and theres a video showing you how to get the same sound.
I have the older Microkorg and the MXR and I watched your Talkbox patch and I used it but my problem is I can still hear the notes I hit from my studio monitors and I was told I shouldnt have my studio monitors on BUT if I turm them off, I hear nothing at all from the Talkbox or the synthesizer...Please help me cause Im stuck lol
You dont want the talk box connected to your studio monitors at all. To get your talk box to work you should only have 1 instrument cable going from the Output jack on your microkorg to your input jack on the talk box. If you want to record a talk box you need to record yourself singing with it, with a microphone connected to your DAW. I have no idea why you dont have sound coming from your talk box and microkorg when your monitor speakers are off. Start at the basics and follow along with what I said above and let me know.
@@JEzra-cx7bx Yes I have the cables all in correctly and I assume patch didn't take or something but I just completely reset my Microkorg 2 factory settings out of frustration lol I will try the patch again 2morrow and let u know...I appreciate your help tremendously 💯
Just saw TheDooo use this and now I want one. Great vid explaining how to use it.

Mine is arriving soon, upgrading from the boss vocoder pedal, nothing sounds like the real thing. Thanks for sharing these tips, really helpful!
You’ll love the MXR TB, I’m actually really into vocoders as well, I have a couple videos of my singing with a vocoder. Thanks for the kind words!

Sweetness! You are the man 🤙🏽as soon as I pay off my sweetwater cc; I'm so picking up a talkbox and keyboard. Keep'em comin!
Right on man thank you! Lots more videos coming up 🔥
Does the Talkbox come with the input plug-in or do you have to buy one and if so what’s the best want to buy

How Do You Hold The Tube In Your Mouth Without Your Hands? Do You Use Your Teeth?

Can I connect the talk box with a native instruments keyboard?
I made a video for it, here is a link: ua-cam.com/video/594GdKXO4Rs/v-deo.html

Gain is not volume. Gain adds dirt to your sound.

How much can I get one?
They cost about $170 USD.
You could upload a video of which keys to press to be able to speak in sync.

I have subscribed already,, can you help me with the amazon link for the talkbox and mini korg,?🥹
