Roger used the EV 1824M horn driver I've also heard he also used the DU-40 horn driver.
I replaced the driver in my Heil with the EV 1824M. It was a tight fit, but I got it in. I wanted protection for driver, plus the stomp button.
Tube size makes a difference too. I'd recommend using a 1/2 OD tube versus the 5/8 OD tube. The narrower the tube the clearer the sound.
Nice observation!
@@MartinRossChroniclesThanks 👍
Thank you so much for this video detailing your homemade rig! It's especially interesting for someone who also plays talkbox, as there's so little technical information available on youtube about it.
Thanks. Glad I can help!
Good to see you back making videos bro
Thank you Andy. Much appreciated!
Fascinating stuff🖖🤨

The sad part they discountinued those mcm du 40 drivers i have one but wish i could have the pair the driver i heard roger used was the ev series 1823
Yeah. I remember the EV1823 being like 300 bux. I settled for the 40 watt driver. Works great for me. 20 years strong now! 😂
I saw recently a few DU-40s up for sale on eBay.
Can I ask how you connected the metal nipple? It appears that you've removed the filter screen, as you also mentioned in the video, and put the nipple inside the hole that the filter was covering. But that hole doesn't look to be threaded on my driver. Is it threaded on yours, allowing you the screw the metal nipple into the driver, or did you secure the metal nipple with some kind of sealant etc?
I put wd40 or am grease and thread it in til it was very tight. Not to far in to hurt the horn. Definitely need to eye ball it to get it right.
How much do you charge to play on a track?
