Amazing sounding synth strings... Try Combs filter with other values too to find some more cool tones... Good and simple alternative to Cinematic Strings ;) Again thank you Hawk for sharing this...
craaazyy makes me realize you can just create ANY sound with Serum.....if you know how to do it :D gotta learn it asap thanks mate for this amazing tutorial! thumbs up and subscribed xx
This is AWESOME! :-) I don't use Serum but I'd like to understand how you did this… Am I correct in saying that this is basically a saw wave, slightly modulated by 7x detuned squares, with a low-pass filter, then ADSR envelope and reverb? Is there anything else I'm missing here? I didn't understand what the "position" knob does.
You're pretty much correct. The only thing you missed was that at the FX chain, there's a slight comb filter. Serum is a wavetable-based synth. The position knob is used to scroll through the wavetable.
You're right. The key to making this sound is having a detuned square modulating a saw with FM. The position knob just cycles betweed waveforms btw. Other than that, the combs filter is quite important to make it sond just right :)
@@hawkserum8678 Hey, thank you both so much for the answers! :-) Ah yes, a comb filter. Great! I came here as I'd been wondering if it's possible to create fairly realistic strings with relatively simple synth techniques. This has answered my question! The answer is YES! And not even any complex wavetables involved, just 2 basic waveforms, which I love. This is really helpful to me as I am in the very early stages of creating music software based on simple synthesisers. I like the idea making awesome music from simple means :-) I'm going to check out other videos on your channel. Thanks :-)
This is amazing, truly, but video tuts in 2006 with no voice overs didnt work, they definitely dont now. Please take this into consideration in the future
I disagree. If this creator was doing something other than what they're already demonstrating, you'd have a point. But, they are perfectly demonstrating how to make the preset visually ... it speaks for itself.
@@funguy8801 With a voice over you can switch to your daw and try to achieve the same just by listening ;) You'll learn a lot more than just copying everything by view

holy fuck that's actually lit, thx you
Wow this is amazing! bass horns next?!
Fish don't grow horns. You typically see that in mammalians or reptilians.
Man.....this is honestly the best strings tutorial I've ever seen, would you say it's worthwhile to buy serum JUST to do this kind of thing?
👏👏👏
Really cool man can you post a link to the present please?
where do you take find such beautiful photos?
Amazing! How you did your SERUM look like that :)
any link to download the patch? It sounds really good
Beautiful, but how to get rid of these synthetic sounds in the background. I cut the frequencies but it didn’t help. Is this like this on all synths?
Can you drop the fxp file for download? Remaking doesnt work in full with new version of Serum somehow.
Hi man! You are awesome! Where did you find this serum skin theme? Thank you
You can download it for free here: anthracite.aevi.me/

What kind of this chord?
what skin is that?
Very nice, but I dont get, what that "combs" filter is and how to insert him...^^
If you click the box where the filter type is you will get a menu. The combs filter is inside the misc folder :)
Look up Sean Combs. He invented the music filter, a few years prior to his invention of the remix.
