Lance's Shiny Gyarados is absolutely a terrifying beast of a Pokémon.

I honestly feel like if it had learned Poison Fang or Iron Tail, it could have beaten Diantha's Gardevoir.
@@rainbowpegacornstudios It actually can learn iron tail, but it's unable to get access to poison fang. Either way, it would've given it a shot at beating Mega Gardevoir, at the very least

I guess we should be glad Lance didn't choose to Mega Evolve Gyarados, since it loses its Flying Typing and becomes a Water/Dark Type and Dark Types have a weakness to Fairy Type moves and Pokémon.
This not like the games
Gyrados, does have the luxury of being the Pokemon that seemed to damage the brokeness that is Leon's Charizard, so it gets props for that.
Lance and his gyarados certainly put up a good fight against leon & his Charizard but wasn't quite enough.
Ironically, Leon's Rillaboom put up more of a fight against Diantha's Gourgeist than Gyrados did.
@@12801270able I think it just goes to show how stacked Diantha was against Lance, but Leon against Diantha. It also seems like Lance would have been a real match against Leon, judging by their previous match.
Charizards thunder punch is a 1 hit KO unless u train a gyarados focus sash n dragon dance waterfall
What won the match for Leon was his proficiency with Dynamax
It would’ve been in trouble otherwise.
I love how Lance is not only an elite 4 member in kanto, and champion, in johto, but is a hero as well, he’s pretty cool, & That’s why I like Lance as a Pokémon character!.
It'd be interesting to see champions conqueror more religions like he did
I really hope we get more screentime for Lance. I hope there's like a filler episode where he and Ash at least do a quick battle for fun. Maybe Ash goes to train and battles Leon's previous opponents.

With how well Gyarados did against Leon's Charizard, it was done dirty against Diantha
Very true, though I suspect, Leon may have been toying with him like he did Alain
What makes it worse is that apparently Leon's Charizard was holding back against Diantha's Gardevoir.
Growing up, I was terrified of Gyarados. I had a huge fear of sea monsters. However, when Misty conquered her fears, I faced mine. I raised my own Magikarp into a Gyarados. I've never been disappointed. My Gyarados is a power house. My Gyarados is one of my most loyal companions and he's always on my team. He's not shiny, but I love my Gyarados.

I have such powerful memories with the red Gyarados. Gold and silver version were the very first Pokémon games I ever played, so naturally the red Gyarados was the very first of many shiny Pokémon I would catch over the years. In the anime I was so scared and worried for Gyarados and thought it might be scarred for life after all the trauma it endured. It filled me with content to see it again in the ruby and sapphire saga because I could tell right away just because he took the time to rescue Brock May and Max that it was doing significantly better than when we last saw it.
That's great! It had a long and arduous journey before calming down

I personally this red Gyarados is the perfect example of "However dark your past is, you can have a brighter future"
Look at the history of animals that were so abused they became hard it wasn't until a new owner found them and cared for them that they realized the world isn't always dark and harsh.
I wish a lot more people know about this channel it's so underrated. I watch your videos if I have the time.

Lance’s Gyarados is what made me like Gyarados even more
I look at Lance's Gyarados as an allegory for an abused animal when you first meet it. Gyarados lashes out and attacks and over time it bonded with Lance and calmed down like many abused animals. No matter how bad your past was, you can always have a brighter future.
A good lesson for kids
Gyarados became a shiny before being shiny was cool. I believe a lot of people still caught him in the game even though they probably had a Magikarp. I know I still got him. This also reminds me when James had his Magikarp and kicked it in to the water and it evolved. I think many people forgot that James had a Magikarp. I often wonder what would have happened if James still had Gyarados. Maybe someday we will see lance and Gyarados again vs ash and his Pokemon. I think Gyarados needs more time before becoming lance's ace. I think he is right behind Dragonite as being a threat

Gyarados was always one of my favorite Pokémon, and to this day, is often found on my team in a new region playthrough. The first time I saw RED Gyarados though, was the Lake of Rage for my Pokémon Silver playthrough. It was love at first sight!

There really should’ve been an onscreen win for this Gyarados. That would further help establish how badass this Pokémon could be.
I'll still never understand why Lance called for a barrage of Ice Fangs on Leon's Charizard instead of spamming Aqua Tail that was boosted due to Dragon Dance...
Not to mention the brokenness of G-Max Wildfire's effects taking it out despite using Max Guard to protect against it but oh well...
*Always thought it was Ash who should've caught the Red Gyarados but he was yelling at it to stop more than actually trying to battle it.
I suppose you could argue that it simply looks cooler 😉

@@ProfessorAlexSilver Lol, I only watched the Lugia arc because my favorite character Ritchie was in it lol, I watched the Ash and Gary battle and gotta catch you later, and Charizard's burning ambitions lol, because I am too busy to watch all those filler episodes.
While I did start my Pokémon journey with Pokémon Red, the first game I remember REALLY gripping me was Pokémon Silver. I also remember watching the Pokémon anime religiously back then, so this video makes me feel so nostalgic ❤️😍

I kinda wish Ash would have caught it tbh, or even Misty. Either one would have made sense, game-wise. That way, it could have gotten more development, battles, and time on-screen. Think about it. This could have been the Gyarados that got Misty over her fear, several episodes before Chronicles. Still, it was a cool Pokemon nonetheless, even with the disappointing final battle.

Maybe it's a little disapointing for the Red Gyarados to lose against Gourgeist.. But Gourgeist is one of my favorite pokemon and I was happy to see this pokemon have a great win.

It was nice to see Lance catch it instead of Misty or Ash, I will say! It fits his team well! But I do also wish we saw him win at least one battle on-screen!
I don't know if they would ever do it, considering the cost of the animation and everything, but I would love to see them do a full Masters 8 Tournament (maybe even the "next" one, if you will), where every match is fully covered with play-by-play announcements, and maybe even "official" commentary - basically similar to a sports event. And hopefully, we'd get to see Gyarados and Lance do even better in something like that!

I really liked Lance because he was the OG unbeatable Champion before any other unbeatable champion was even a concept.

Since you brought up the Masters 8 during your History Class of Lance's Red Gyarados fighting against Leon, in Your Opinion: since we know more than half of who the team members are now (Charizard, Dragapult, Rillaboom, & recent possibly confirmed Mr. Rime) Who do You think are the last members of Leon's team???
Red Gyarados was the first instance I could think where I saw a shiny Pokemon and of course younger me didn't know what that was at the time because I didn't really care about looking for that.

Oh yeah Lance’s Gyarados. Lance had it since the Jotho saga, there was an incident where it evolved Team Rocket setting off radio waves forcing certain Pokémon to evolve like magikarp for example. It was the same thing like in the video game. Where you could catch a shiny gyarados easy, 100% chance. I know Lance is one of the Pokémon G Men, he investigates the radio wave incident and went undercover in Team Magma’s ship to infiltrate it. Anyway, about Gyarados I remember of how it lost against Leon’s Charizard to a thunder punch which was expected since water and flying types have a 4x disadvantage against electric attacks. And I don’t remember its moves unfortunately, it’s been a while except for hyper beam, I remember that move.
Seeing a red Gyarados battling makes me happy. my first shiny was the red Gyarados, and my first shiny in PLA was a Gyarados, apparently following me into a interdimesion hole in the sky. thanks buddy, you still can't hit aqua tail.

Everyone’s first shiny and one of the best
One thing I would have loved was if in the Gen 2 Games & Remakes, the Red Gyradoes would appear on Lance’s Team if you didn’t catch it yourself.
Even though Lance's shiny gyarados didn't have any on screen wins, it likely helps lance defend his title and an ace in training for him.
One thing I'd like to know is how did Lysandre acquire a red gyarados? Since Lance was one of the few trainers to have a shiny Pokemon, if his gyarados would be considered one.
I honestly wish some battle where more fair, like, just because someone’s a top character shouldn’t mean they win a lot, like I feel that some characters should win more to even out.
