Still a bad taste in my mouth from Ash losing the Kalos League finals, but when you see ALL of Charizard's battles in a video like this it shows that Greninja didn't really stand a chance against a beast that has gone up against dozens of Megas (let's be real we have no idea just how many Mega trainers Alain took down off screen with Charizard) and powerful legendaries.

@@ProfessorAlexSilver oh gosh I don't HATE the loss because I agree with what you said. We truly saw a solid story of Alain as opposed to a last minute league arrival rival like in past regions. I think for me the battle (while animated so freaking good) was lackluster; Greninja vs. Charizard I mean. The music for that final battle wasn't all that great like it was epic during Greninja vs. Sceptile (japanese version not English dub since that version's music always sucks...) and I don't know that final 'mega water shuriken' seemed like an "Ash pull" rather than something that made sense. There was 0 build up to an attack that powerful or even some B.S. explanation that the stronger the bond the limit would show in a different colored attack or something. True, Charizard had taken MORE hits, but its attacks were hitting harder like Tough Claw boosted Dragon Claws and Thunderpunch. Even though I thought Ash had a REAL chance when Greninja cancelled out that first Blast Burn...
Thank you! I've been saying this for years. It's bitter to watch Greninja fall and I understand that but when you look at the whole context and the amount of bodies Charizard caught, it really wasn't a contest
I'm still mad Ash didn't win the Kalos league, but looking back and seeing Alain's Charizard going against all those megas kinda made sense why Greninja would lose (plus maybe more off screen)
Dont let the fact that Pikachu lost to Charizard make you forget that the little guy still took out a Metagross and a Tyranitar in the same battle... Ash's Pikachu is INSANE!!!! But tbf Alain's Mega Charizard taking out 10 megas in a row is even more impressive
I would also add on that Alains Charizard X got DUMPSTERED by the weather trio. It also did not defeat Z2 50%, It blocked Extremespeed, got one not very effective dragon claw in, and got hit with lands wrath before team flare lazered it and it split apart again. The Greninja fight was mostly ash's fault, being a brute forcer like Alain but with worse moveset. Since Charizard X takes neutral damage from all his moves and is a bit more naturally bulky than the glasscannon Ash-Greninja forme. The Houndoom match was actually pretty even. And a pretty good matchup for Charizard X. the 10 in a row mega thing, he used Super potions between matches. Not really an OP feat.
Alain and Charizard were on a whole nother level. I'm happy to see they're still happy traveling with Marin and Chespy and I hope they find that Mega Stone someday soon.
Let's be real; who wants to see Alain and Leon have a battle to see who has the best Zard? We're only told about Leon's battle record but Alain...we saw the epic matches it had to win! Leon's Charizard seems to always be on the backfoot before Gigantimaxing to win the battle. So, I would say in 'normal' form; Alain's may have the advantage. *Yes, Gigantamax on Leon's side is an advantage. However, Alain with a Mega (Y or X) could make things a bit more interesting...
Alright alright, I know I might get hate for this but while I still do wish Ash won the Kalos league, this felt like his fairest lost. Alain's Charizard is an absolute powerhouse and unlike Tobias it doesn't feel forced. With Tobias he was just some dude created solely for the reason of "beat Ash". We don't know anything about him or his connections to Darkrai and Latios. With Alain however, we see his accomplishments and his care for Charizard. He was an actual character with a story and not Joe Smoe of the street. We knew Alain, we know what he did and that's why I think while Ash loosing was and is disappointing to the max, I don't feel too bad about it at all.

Alain is a Monster.. I think people is underestimating Alain. Some said that he lost against Siebold. But that was episode 1 of his Mega Evolution series, there's a big difference of power and experience between episode 1-4. In episode 4 Alain is already a powerhouse he proved it by mopping the floor with literally everyone I watched all the Mega Evolution Series of Alain. If he battled Siebold again I have no doubt Alain would mop the floor with him, so Alain being in the Master 8 is no surprise for me, I also believe that Alain's Charizard is the strongest pokemon between all the Champs Pokemon.. To prove it even more, remember in episode 1 when Alain Charizard battled against Mega Garchomp? Charizard barely came out with the victory but in the Kalos League they battled again and this time Charizard had no trouble defeating Mega Garchomp in less than a minute even though Garchomp had trained a lot with his master so this is an example of how powerful Alain was at that point compared to Alain From Episode 1. Greninja almost beat the crap out of Champ Diantha's Gardevior so Greninja was broken but Alain's Charizard is a Monster that took Electric ⚡ 🌩 attacks from Pikachu and also from Greninja but he still came out with the victory so this is why Alain is in the Master 8 he's a monster. Facts.

He's not overpowered, Alain is just a really smart and talented trainer, and he's much older than 10 so he's been at this a while. Plus even though he has a team of six, he puts most of his efforts into his Charizard.

One of Ash's greatest rivals ever. So much nuance to his character. So much fun and hype battles under his belt. Such an amazing balance of fun to watch and interesting to write. And his merging of stories with Ash while mirroring Ash's own struggles was brilliant. His 2nd best rival behind Paul imo.
Alains charizard is so amazing especially when it mega evolves into mega charizard! Also I like Alain as a rival for ash the only think I didn’t like was when Alain worked for team flare and they captured ash and it sounds so hard for forgive someone who would do something like that but really it became a big mistake that Alain made and perhaps Lysandre wasn’t fully specific to what meant what he was going to change to work for to also, I’m glad it worked out I the end and I just finish watching the 19th season Of the Pokémon anime that I just started watching this past weekend and it was an incredible experience and somewhat emotional at the end when ash released greninja and when he and his friends that he traveled with all went their separate ways at the end. But also good video professor and it was a good ride for Alain too on the show for how much screen time he gained over time. Also one more think about Alain, if he were to return then I would love to see him battle with ash and have a one on one charizard battle since they both have charizards as their Pokémon!. Well the battle between Leon's Charizard and Alain's Charizard was disappointing. All I wanted was Gigatamax Charizard vs Mega Charizard X, but instead we got a super rushed battle that ended in 30 seconds.
Alan Blaze Sycamore returned but he lost to Leon's Charizard with a Dragon Pulse. Oh and he used a new move there too. *Flare Drive* *Flare Blitz in the English Dubbed*
I think that Alan's Charizard has the most insane endurance out of any Pokémon in this 1,000 episode-long series (not counting counting huge Legendaries and such)
@@satoshiashketchum6375 He fed him a Pecha Berry to cure the Poison and sprayed Charizard with a Super Potion once (and that wasn't even before battling Malva, he didn't heal before facing her). People seem to remember it as if he healed after every single battle
@@Lonelysarchives They didn't even show all the battles, and most likely he healed Charizard between fights without showing it in the frame. Plus, Malva was generally defeated stupidly. She didn't look like an Elite-level trainer next to the same trainer with Vinosaurus. Of course, this is already a great achievement, but somehow everything does not look very believable. For example, when Ash fought the Elite Four, it was clear that they were very strong, as Hypodon withstood the Leaf Storm, and then the Flamethrower and Blast Burn, but not naturally. Even Greninja was better at taking hits without the Ash Greninja mod. All this is done to please the gennviners, so that they buy Charizard merch.
Honestly i grey up on Pokémon and the first gens series was my fave... but I gotta say this has to be my actual fave mainly cuz of Alain and his charizard. The story is also so strong and amazing. Definitely my favorite, very well written and animated.
I really hope we get to see this absolute beast again soon. Especially if Ash starts rotating in older pokemon in Journeys, this time they can have a Charizard 1v1. Or it can face Dragonite. Any return battle is welcome.

I honestly really loved Alain and his Charizard, it really made me love the fire starter despite its overused popularity For a next Pokemon, why not try out Kiawe's Turtonator?
Fire Types are overused because there are just a few fire types in each game. We have many water type options and Grass type is useless in many occasions. In Gen 4 there is only 1 Fire Type Pokémon besides starter. Just 1! In 3-4-6 I like Water type starter more, in gen 1 I like Charmander just a tiny bit more than Squirtle. But look at that dragon dude. How can one resist to that bad boy?
I liked Alain’s storyline. I wish they would keep a more mature storyline along with the regular series. Maybe throw that version on UA-cam in 10 min episodes
You have too be impressed with Greninja's growth rate considering the difference in time that alan had with Charizard and ash having Greninja the gap between them closed quickly if ash and Greninja had more time to train battle bond they might have won

I remember how mad everyone was that Ash lost, but I had managed to watch all of the Mega Evolution Specials, so I was familiar with Alan's journey (although I did forget about a lot of his battles there). But while everyone else was upset, I was thinking about how he was clearly in an excellent position to beat Ash! I mean, he challenged so many Mega Pokémon that it wasn't really shocking to me. I do hope we'll eventually see a rematch between them, though! It was definitely among the most intense battles we've seen!
Alain is my favorite character from the Pokémon anime, and my third favorite Pokémon character overall. I feel like he's super underrated and deserves more recognition for his character development. I'm so happy to see a video of him on this channel. Also, that intro was fire.
I think he will be returning sooner than you think. I am convinced he’s the 5th and final member of project Mew just because he fits the project Mew member criteria. He’s a super strong trainer, a Kalos league champion, a Pokémon Researcher and possibly now a powerful gym leader in Kalos. I think this theory makes sense!

I remember when I did not know Pokémon that much last time and when I first saw ash mega charizard in action, it instantly became my favourite Pokémon, I even tried to memorise all the moves it could do.

Thank you, I've made this point before but people screeched about Ash losing the Kalos League even though it was pretty obvious from all the build-up over the course of the Mega Evolution series that Ash stood absolutely no chance against Alain's Charizard. "Oh but Ash's Greninja has a special form!" Yes, but its battle experience is still pretty standard, while Alain's Charizard has endured gruelling training and has battled and held its own against multiple legendaries. The power imbalance there is simply too great for a cheap form change to overcome. Had Ash won that battle, I'd have rolled my eyes from just how unearned that victory would have been. What makes Infernape's victory over Electivire satisfying isn't the victory itself, but the fact that it was earned across all of the Diamond and Pearl series. If I was writing it and wanted Greninja to win, I'd have had an arc where Greninja undergoes similar or equivalent experiences to Alain's Charizard so that it would be more of a match of equals.
@@ProfessorAlexSilver I think the problem with Alain and his Charizard and why people were upset with Ash's loss was because Alain's storyline was covered in the Mega Evolution specials, which presumably they didn't watch. As much as I could blame them for not watching them, I can also see the argument that them being specials might make people think that they weren't relevant to the X and Y anime's story when they were. I do tend to get annoyed when series tend to spread storylines over different parallel series (Star Wars has been guilty of this recently) making them hard to follow. However the Mega Evolution specials were pretty accessible even with that taken into consideration.
To be honest Alain and his mega charizard were one of the most powerful Pokémon and trainer next to Cynthia or Leon or maybe even Steven in my opinion at least.

Alain was 1 of the best Rivals and Secondary Characters in the Anime! Along with their upset Victory over Ash, he was the first Rival of Ash's, that Ash couldn't beat in a League Match Situation. With how he wants to be the strongest, after winning the Kalos League, and rediscovering himself after the Team Flare Incident, taking on the World Coronation Series makes alot of sense. I can see Ash vs Alain sometime within the Top 50 section of the Ultra Rank! A 3 on 3 match with Ash as the Victor, would be a great way to bring closure for those 2 as Rivals! Especially seeing their battle history outside of their battles together. Alain: Kalos League Champion, Defeated Elite 4 Malva. Ash: Became the Alola Regional Champion, Defeated Unova Champion. As for the teams, I still predict, with Ash's Old Pokemon starting to return and being used too, we will get a 2 Part Find Greninja Arc, for it to rejoin Ash's team in the World Coronation Series. Afterwards, we will get the Ash vs Alain WCS Battle. The teams- Alain: Metagross, Tyranitar, and Mega Charizard X. VS. Ash: Melmetal, Ash-Greninja, and Pikachu. Like I said, Ash will win, probably Rank around 30, and next will be Paul! Great video Prof. Silver, and this just made me more excited for what's to come in Journeys!!

I think people is underestimating Alain. Some said that he lost against Siebold. But that was episode 1 of his Mega Evolution series, there's a big difference of power and experience between episode 1-4. In episode 4 Alain is already a powerhouse he proved it by mopping the floor with literally everyone I watched all the Mega Evolution Series of Alain. If he battled Siebold again I have no doubt Alain would mop the floor with him, so Alain being in the Master 8 is no surprise for me, I also believe that Alain's Charizard is the strongest pokemon between all the Champs Pokemon.. To prove it even more, remember in episode 1 when Alain Charizard battled against Mega Garchomp? Charizard barely came out with the victory but in the Kalos League they battled again and this time Charizard had no trouble defeating Mega Garchomp in less than a minute even though Garchomp had trained a lot with his master so this is an example of how powerful Alain was at that point compared to Alain From Episode 1. Greninja almost beat the crap out of Champ Diantha's Gardevior so Greninja was broken but Alain's Charizard is a Monster that took Electric ⚡ 🌩 attacks from Pikachu and also from Greninja but he still came out with the victory so this is why Alain is in the Master 8 he's a monster. Facts.

Alains charizard is so amazing especially when it mega evolves into mega charizard! Also I like Alain as a rival for ash the only think I didn’t like was when Alain worked for team flare and they captured ash and it sounds so hard for forgive someone who would do something like that but really it became a big mistake that Alain made and perhaps Lysandre wasn’t fully specific to what meant what he was going to change to work for to also, I’m glad it worked out I the end and I just finish watching the 19th season Of the Pokémon anime that I just started watching this past weekend and it was an incredible experience and somewhat emotional at the end when ash released greninja and when he and his friends that he traveled with all went their separate ways at the end. But also good video professor and it was a good ride for Alain too on the show for how much screen time he gained over time. Also one more think about Alain, if he were to return then I would love to see him battle with ash and have a one on one charizard battle since they both have charizards as their Pokémon!. That be cool huh? 😊

Well the battle between Leon's Charizard and Alain's Charizard was disappointing. All I wanted was Gigatamax Charizard vs Mega Charizard X, but instead we got a super rushed battle that ended in 30 seconds.

@@Lonelysarchives They didn't even show all the battles, and most likely he healed Charizard between fights without showing it in the frame. Plus, Malva was generally defeated stupidly. She didn't look like an Elite-level trainer next to the same trainer with Vinosaurus. Of course, this is already a great achievement, but somehow everything does not look very believable. For example, when Ash fought the Elite Four, it was clear that they were very strong, as Hypodon withstood the Leaf Storm, and then the Flamethrower and Blast Burn, but not naturally. Even Greninja was better at taking hits without the Ash Greninja mod. All this is done to please the gennviners, so that they buy Charizard merch.
Honestly i grey up on Pokémon and the first gens series was my fave... but I gotta say this has to be my actual fave mainly cuz of Alain and his charizard. The story is also so strong and amazing. Definitely my favorite, very well written and animated.
It honestly surpassed Ash's Charizard for me in terms of battling. Ash's still has a better personality though

Why not alains matagross
Fire Types are overused because there are just a few fire types in each game. We have many water type options and Grass type is useless in many occasions. In Gen 4 there is only 1 Fire Type Pokémon besides starter. Just 1! In 3-4-6 I like Water type starter more, in gen 1 I like Charmander just a tiny bit more than Squirtle. But look at that dragon dude. How can one resist to that bad boy?

I remember how mad everyone was that Ash lost, but I had managed to watch all of the Mega Evolution Specials, so I was familiar with Alan's journey (although I did forget about a lot of his battles there). But while everyone else was upset, I was thinking about how he was clearly in an excellent position to beat Ash! I mean, he challenged so many Mega Pokémon that it wasn't really shocking to me. I do hope we'll eventually see a rematch between them, though! It was definitely among the most intense battles we've seen!

I think he will be returning sooner than you think. I am convinced he’s the 5th and final member of project Mew just because he fits the project Mew member criteria. He’s a super strong trainer, a Kalos league champion, a Pokémon Researcher and possibly now a powerful gym leader in Kalos. I think this theory makes sense!

I remember when I did not know Pokémon that much last time and when I first saw ash mega charizard in action, it instantly became my favourite Pokémon, I even tried to memorise all the moves it could do.

Thank you, I've made this point before but people screeched about Ash losing the Kalos League even though it was pretty obvious from all the build-up over the course of the Mega Evolution series that Ash stood absolutely no chance against Alain's Charizard. "Oh but Ash's Greninja has a special form!" Yes, but its battle experience is still pretty standard, while Alain's Charizard has endured gruelling training and has battled and held its own against multiple legendaries. The power imbalance there is simply too great for a cheap form change to overcome. Had Ash won that battle, I'd have rolled my eyes from just how unearned that victory would have been. What makes Infernape's victory over Electivire satisfying isn't the victory itself, but the fact that it was earned across all of the Diamond and Pearl series. If I was writing it and wanted Greninja to win, I'd have had an arc where Greninja undergoes similar or equivalent experiences to Alain's Charizard so that it would be more of a match of equals.

@@ProfessorAlexSilver I think the problem with Alain and his Charizard and why people were upset with Ash's loss was because Alain's storyline was covered in the Mega Evolution specials, which presumably they didn't watch. As much as I could blame them for not watching them, I can also see the argument that them being specials might make people think that they weren't relevant to the X and Y anime's story when they were. I do tend to get annoyed when series tend to spread storylines over different parallel series (Star Wars has been guilty of this recently) making them hard to follow. However the Mega Evolution specials were pretty accessible even with that taken into consideration.
To be honest Alain and his mega charizard were one of the most powerful Pokémon and trainer next to Cynthia or Leon or maybe even Steven in my opinion at least.

Pokemon xyz was on another level , and the seasons after that was good too but the animation 🔥
Alain was 1 of the best Rivals and Secondary Characters in the Anime! Along with their upset Victory over Ash, he was the first Rival of Ash's, that Ash couldn't beat in a League Match Situation. With how he wants to be the strongest, after winning the Kalos League, and rediscovering himself after the Team Flare Incident, taking on the World Coronation Series makes alot of sense. I can see Ash vs Alain sometime within the Top 50 section of the Ultra Rank! A 3 on 3 match with Ash as the Victor, would be a great way to bring closure for those 2 as Rivals! Especially seeing their battle history outside of their battles together. Alain: Kalos League Champion, Defeated Elite 4 Malva. Ash: Became the Alola Regional Champion, Defeated Unova Champion. As for the teams, I still predict, with Ash's Old Pokemon starting to return and being used too, we will get a 2 Part Find Greninja Arc, for it to rejoin Ash's team in the World Coronation Series. Afterwards, we will get the Ash vs Alain WCS Battle. The teams- Alain: Metagross, Tyranitar, and Mega Charizard X. VS. Ash: Melmetal, Ash-Greninja, and Pikachu. Like I said, Ash will win, probably Rank around 30, and next will be Paul! Great video Prof. Silver, and this just made me more excited for what's to come in Journeys!!
