@@ProfessorAlexSilver For a brief moment it actually did seem like Pikachu and Ash lost. Considering the history of the anime and writers it would have been believable. But it was a great way to throw in all the Pokemon that have been on the team for the most epic moment of Ash's career.

Ash vs Leon (master's 8 finals) has got to be one if the not the best battle in the anime. The two most popular pokemons in the world (pikachu and charizard) even a lot of non pokemon fans know their names. Giving us probably the most unforgetable battle in the history of pokemon anime.
The only thing I kind of don't like was how Cinderace was kind of cast away casually, although I suppose it does kind of makes sense after the damage it took from Dracovish. One of the best things about the battle is how it brings closure to Ash's past failures especially to his first league lost against Richie. Bringing closure to a 25 year story that true champions rise above their failures.

I know Charizard is overrated to a lot of people, but it holds a special place in my heart since it was my very first pokemon back when I played Red/Blue when I was 4yo. I still have my original Charizard with updated moves, obviously.
Oh yes Leon’s Charizard, one of the strongest in all the land. I remember of how it took down Lance’s Gyrados with a thunder punch, took down Alian’s Charizard, took down Pikachu the first time Ash battled him, defeated Diantha and Flint’s Infernape. But in the master 8 finals, Pikachu was almost down for the count but with the support of all of Ash’s Pokémon in its vision, it had the determination to stand up and take down Charizard. That victory against Leon made Ash the new monarch of the world coronation series making him the Pokémon master. It’s sad that he’ll be leaving the anime but his time was a good one, seeing of how he grew over the years.
Leon was a interesting character and I loved his interactions with ash and the battle they had at the end of the masters 8 tournament in Pokémon journeys! I look forward to seeing more of your content starting sometime starting in the upcoming new 2023!!… 😁✌️
What I love most about Leon's Charizard is that it literally came to a head in the final battle of the Masters 8 Tournament against Ash's Pikachu. It tried really hard to knock Pikachu off, but in the end, it fell to a massive Thunderbolt right to the noggin.
I really wish we got more moments of Leon's Charizard outside of battle! For example, it would've been nice to have an episode about Pikachu and Charizard without their trainers, to solidify their rivalry and build up their final battle in the Masters 8 finals. Sometimes Charizard just kinda felt like a battle machine rather than a well-rounded character sadly. But still, what a Pokemon, man! 🔥

@@eljordinio7647 but just like Iris he shouldve lost in the first round, even Zac already admitted that Ash wasnt meant to win against Steven in his masters tournament review & my main problem with the Cynthia fight was that they didnt gave Garchomp any super effective moves against Lucario which is the reason why Ash was able to grasp the victory. If Garchomp had moves like bulldoze or even kept brick break which it had before Lucario wouldve fallen easily no doubt & it was still pure luck so the only satisfying battle that Ash had in the tournament was against Leon
@@eljordinio7647 Ash vs Cynthia was an epic fight but I wouldnt really consider it in the top 5, it still doesnt compare to the other top tier battles against Leon Paul & Kukui. Like it or not you should also be thankful for Ash’s plot armor because without him using it against Steven you wouldnt get your dream match against Cynthia anyway 😊
Leon’s insane adaptability with each of his Mons was awesome to see battling Ash’s Mons. What else can be said about Leon’s Charizard in a league of its own defeating power aces of regional champion trainers mons, elite four and Galar gym leaders only Raihan in the anime. It’s monstrous strength and stamina against one of the most powerful legendary mons in Eternatus. It would have been a great sight to have seen Leon displaying his Adaptability and strategies in the battles against Alain and Diantha. Leon’s character could have been even more better in the anime. Like we could have seen a backstory of him training and battle his mentor teacher Mustard former Galar’s champion and a Gym leader who was unbeatable for 18 years in the World coronation tournament. So many missed opportunities with Leon’s character had so much potential of being one of the best characters in the anime. He’s one of my favorite Regional champions in the anime other than Cynthia.

Got goosebumps when Pikachu passed out and got back up when the theme song was playing epic was an understatement.I couldnt hold back the tears but i would have loved to see cynthia and leon battle
i would've liked to see Paul challenge leon in the exhibition match with leon giving him a dynamax band. he would lose but i think that would be nice especially if they had Leon tell ash after their first battle that another trainer from veilstone city challenged him not to long before him. it would off hinted towards pauls return and would off made sense since he was helping ash to prepare for the masters 8
My first thought of Charizard was that I found it ironic that a long time ago Ash and his Charizard were underdog to drake and his overpowered Dragonite, then over 20 years later Ash goes and gets himself a Dragonite that is underdog to an overpowered Charizard.
Wish Journey’s could have had 1 more Leon & Charizard world building episode. Imagine Ash meeting up to watch Leonzard train here we may see Leon doing some unorthodox training like ash and teaching Charizard new moves for his next upcoming battle. Could also show how popular Leon is in Galar, and maybe expand how terrible he is with directions.
As a certified Kalos fanboy, and someone who's favorite game is Pokémon Y, I'm still kind of bitter that Leon utterly wasted both Kalos reps. I've gotta admit, though... the fight between Charizard and Pikachu was top notch.

The final battle was similar to that of a battle in the Dragon Ball series, Pikachu shows how far he came by surviving against an all powerful final evolution starter.

I did like they had Leon as someone who looked forward to anyone who decided to challenge him, much like orange island champion Drake, and wasn’t overconfident or cocky. Striving to be the best trainer and making sure to put on a great show for the many adoring fans he had during he reign as the Galar champion/best trainer in the world.

Charizard sure is godly, but not as godly as Ash-Greninja. Though i do gotta admit Alain's charizard was nerfed down to show Leon's Charizards strength.

It's actually kind of poetic in a way - My greatest heartbreak in pokemon was seeing a Charizard fall before Ash (Charizard v Blaziken). And now my greatest joy is seeing a Charizard fall before Ash (Pikachu v Charizard)

I think that Leon’s Charizard was strong but I wish we got more of them in the show and that They didn’t have to make Alain and Diantha Kalos’s Best trainers look weak to show how Strong it is and can you do Ash’s Lycanroc next.

Looking at Pikachu vs Charizard, I feel like Leon's Charizard could have done a lot better against Ash Pikachu if Leon had cycled its moveset to include at least a Physical Move. Charizard had the hardest time/took the most damage throughout the battle against Pikachu (excluding Electric attacks) was against Quick Attack. If Leon had Charizard know a move for close quarter combat to counter whenever Pikachu got in close, maybe that would've made a difference. I'm actually Surprised Leon didn't change Charizard's moveset again since the duo always seem to do that in most of their battles. And it wouldn't even be that bad if they did as other Masters 8 members sorta did with their pokemon during the tournament like Cynthia & Gastrodon
@@rabootfanboysam5068 Looking at it though, Dig would not only help against Pikachu, but it would've actually helped prepare against the rest of ash's team as Charizard's Dig was not only powerful but fast as well. And it's not like ash's team had many attacks gush out charizard from underground; as an option example I can think of would be like Dracovish's Water Gun (which has hardly ever helped)

Leon's Charizard having a new move-set every single battle was the weirdest part of the show.

My greatest heartbreak in pokemon was seeing a Charizard fall before Ash (Charizard v Blaziken). And now my greatest joy is seeing a Charizard fall before Ash (Pikachu v Charizard)

@@ProfessorAlexSilver Exactly. All of Ash's league losses involved a Pikachu and/or Charizard. Here his greatest victory involved both. So he finally rose above all his past failures. We can all learn from Ash.
I think that Leon’s Charizard was strong but I wish we got more of them in the show and that They didn’t have to make Alain and Diantha Kalos’s Best trainers look weak to show how Strong it is and can you do Ash’s Lycanroc next.

I'm assuming you only counted the loss against Pikachu since that first loss was as a Charmander. We didn't even see the battle anyway.

Looking at Pikachu vs Charizard, I feel like Leon's Charizard could have done a lot better against Ash Pikachu if Leon had cycled its moveset to include at least a Physical Move. Charizard had the hardest time/took the most damage throughout the battle against Pikachu (excluding Electric attacks) was against Quick Attack. If Leon had Charizard know a move for close quarter combat to counter whenever Pikachu got in close, maybe that would've made a difference. I'm actually Surprised Leon didn't change Charizard's moveset again since the duo always seem to do that in most of their battles. And it wouldn't even be that bad if they did as other Masters 8 members sorta did with their pokemon during the tournament like Cynthia & Gastrodon
I think Leon's intuition was to prepare Chairzard's moveset for Ash's entire team but Dig would have been cool
@@rabootfanboysam5068 Looking at it though, Dig would not only help against Pikachu, but it would've actually helped prepare against the rest of ash's team as Charizard's Dig was not only powerful but fast as well. And it's not like ash's team had many attacks gush out charizard from underground; as an option example I can think of would be like Dracovish's Water Gun (which has hardly ever helped)
@@eljordinio7647 True. Albeit Dig was the only move Leon's Charizard had as a counter to give him an edge over for Pikachu. Or at he very east any other physical move Charizard had in its movepool
Pikachu's final attack wasn't thunderbolt, but rather Pika PAPOW! It was a refrence to Pokémon: Lets Go Pikachu as a special move

Leon's Charizard can only lose to Pikachu and Ash's plot armor
I defeated Leon in Pokemon Sword in one of my Switch Lite's user profiles.
I'm still kinda salty how Leon's Charizard took down Alain's mega Charizard. Still, the Pikachu-Charizard finale is still one of the best fights
I like the battle more, knowing that Rillaboom wrecked Diantha. It makes Alain look less weak
But seriously how did that rillaboom beat FIVE of her pokemon I don't get it?!?!?? Plus that just makes Lance look REALLY weak. 😅
@@artistlovercarolineandamay6492 i want to believe that Dragapult was super tricky to fight with all its dragon tail shenanigans that it tired out Diantha's pokemon making Brillaboom able to sweep after Dragapult's defeat.
