Dude look at the Canik Rival. It comes with damn near everything except a comp and the optics mount is WAY better from a mechanical perspective. Rival costs $630 and the trigger is like a damn computer mouse. It's such a nice pistol and I've got thousands of rounds through mine and it has been as reliable as my Glocks in that time(except for my Glock 19 MOS, which had to go back to Glock because a plate mounting screw sheared off flush with the slide, it took Glock over a month to get it back to me btw).
PSA has specials on compact, and full size dagger frames for 100 dollars for both. Dagger optics ready slides are around 200 on sale, dagger long slide is around 250. That is two guns optics ready for less than the cost of one standard Glock. What is even more Daggers can fire syntec ammo safely, as well as polymer coated ammo.

What is the difference between the G49 vs G47 ? Both can be swapped for the 19 and 17 lowers. My understanding the is the dust cover and recoil assembly for the G47 is the same as the 19 vs 49 and 17 being the same recoil assembly length. Excellent presentation! One thing that gets lost in the shuffle is that concealing barrel/slide length is easier than concealing grip. I find this model interesting and wonder why Glock wasn’t thinking about this a long time ago. Goes back to an old article from the late 80s when a magazine writer cut the grip of a Gen1 17 down to 19 dimensions for the same concealment considerations. I would consider buying one of these. The 19 and the 23 were always easy-to-conceal all-round pistols for me, and I only bought subcompacts because they hid better in ankle holsters (I found that on the hip, not much difference). I have medium size hands so the 19 grip was fine. Now if Glock is actually listening, the flat trigger shoe of the Glock Performance Trigger package should be standard on all Glocks - or at least a smooth trigger shoe which has the trigger safety that actually goes flush when pressed and doesn’t chew up the trigger finger.
Probably because Glock has been concentrating on all the other innovations they’ve been delivering, like high contrast night sights, modular FCUs, optional manual safety, decent triggers, optics mounting that doesn’t require plates and another pair of screws, a SA/DA hammer fired version, and on and on. They haven’t had time to simply put the longer slide on the compact grip. Geez.
Home gunsmiths have been chopping grips on the 17s to 19 length for a hot minute, frame manufacturers have been doing for a little while now.. and GLOCK releases this finally. Innovation went out the window with GLOCK decades ago.
And if you just buy the 22&23 you can have 8 guns 22,23, then with a barrel change a 17,19 then change around all the slides and you have the alter who's of all four to make a total of eight different configurations
this is exactly why I switched to sig. glock hasn't done anything interesting since the MOS line. everything else is "we put the whatever slide on the whatever frame! look it's new!"
I moved on from Glocks to striker fired guns with better feel and ergonomics from other manufacturers. Glocks are reliable and I would bet my life one one still, but there are much better options out there nowadays.
what is better than a gun that you can bet your life on? Glock owns reliability, track record, durability, simplicity, and ease of use/cleaning. They are everything you want in a defensive handgun and you can't get that from anyone else
@waholoopesorry74 Polymer frame striker fired "technology" is NOT rocket science. There's a very sizeable list of guns from other manufacturers that are every bit as reliable and simple to use and maintain as a Glock. I lost count after 200,000 rounds I've put through Glocks so I can say I know a thing or two about them. One thing I know for certain is they are not perfect. I've had several over the years that had issues right out of the box or shortly thereafter.
I have Glock 45 and Glock 47 MOS these two can also swap out slides with lowers. Glock 49 would be nice IDPA gun. I run the Glock 45 in IDPA as the Mags hold 17 and just down load to the 15 round limit.
Thank you for the video but this one is a hard no. What's next, a G17 that shoots 45 GAP if you wave a magic wand over it? Hope to meet you in the store someday.
@@cluckbent6466 its almost 1.5inches different not 4/10th of an inch. I own the G19 and G17 gen 5, its a very noticeable difference. I am not a toothpick either. 6' and 210lbs.
I watched as you were talking the pistols down, and it appears, like with my gen 5s, that it's a little more challenging to break down gen 5 than previous generations. Anyone else think that about the gen 5 guns? What's the solution for that? Larger takedown lever or?
The slide doesn't need to be take all the way forward off the slide. Once the rear rails are clear take the slide straight up off the frame. If you look at the slide when it is off the frame you will see there are "gaps" it the slide channel where the front frame rails can clear the slide.
No, that would have been too easy. :) I used a GST-9 lower, and a Brownell's upper specifically made to be mounted on a 19 size lower. The barrel is the same, but the slide is unique. @@sgtbear2471
I carried a security firm issue Glock gen 3 19 9x19mm, 6mo. 2022-2023. I'm not a huge fan of 19s in general but see why they sell so many. You get a light rail, MOS plate, longer barrel.
Taurus came out with the G3XL a while back,,G3 slide & barrel on a G3C frame,,I really like it.Glock's version should be even better.I'm looking forward to trying the 49.
Seems to me putting a magwell extension in the G49 defeats it's purpose. If like the G19,the grip is a little bit too short for your hand, you might as well just get a G17,a G19X,or a G45.
slide and frame swapping is something every other polymer gun has been able to do from the get go. Walther , Canik, S&W MP , CZP series excetra all can do this
Certain families of generations of Glocks have been able to do this for a while too. Gen 4 20/40s for example. I have a G20 with a used 40 upper only I got for cheap. I now have two 10mm weapons. This was six years ago. Even the 19X can accept Gen5 9mm uppers. G17 and G19 also AND G34. They only real difference is now glock is marketing it. Really the only difference. If they want to be innovative, they will come out with a cross-generation compatible slide.
No, the 17 actually uses a different recoil spring that's longer than the 19 sized slides. I tried putting a 17 slide on my G45 and it got very stuck because it has too much rearward travel. All of the pistols ion this vid are made with the g19 recoil spring length, so they can swap around.
I think customers would be much more receptive and appreciative if Glock just started putting quality iron sights on EVERY model from the factory. Maybe make their own proprietary 15 round mag that will fit in a 43X, they've fallen way behind in the micro compact game. Although I'm sure Glock Store and all the other after market companies wouldn't be as receptive, lol. Maybe the Glock 50 could be their very first PCC 🤯 Every other company copied Glock with the striker fired polymer frame platform, and then made it better, or at least give you more bang for your buck with better quality components from the factory. Maybe Glock should start returning the favor. Maybe I should be working in Glock's marketing division. 😂
@@aaronfarnsworth7653 Baby steps my man. If they released their AR to the civilian market it would be on the price level of Daniel Defense, or Knights Armament. A Glock PCC on the level of S&W with the folding stock would be more like it. Then they could keep making more "patents" with the caliber you already have....9mm, .40 S&W, 10mm...
I retired my s&w Gen 1 sigma service pistol a few years ago for a Gen 5 ,17 . The only problem I have is the stippling is like sand paper on my hand. I don't want to smooth it out because of warrants on the weapon. Other wise the pistol shoots great.
Ironically, this is the gun I wanted for almost 20 years. But now everything has moved to red dot, so sight radius doesn't matter and the Radian Ramjet provides more utility than the extra weight and velocity the 17 slide provides.
Glock dosen't roll stamp the Gens on guns the gen the cane out in. Ex, the 19 had gen 3,4,and 5 because it's initial release was Gen 2. Or like the G45 doesn't say gen 5 because it wasn't released with prior generations. It was released during the gen 5 era. Like the G43 doesn't say gen 4 because it was released for the first time with gen 4's and it dosen't say gen 5 because they haven't made a gen 5 43. The 43x was released During gen 5 but dosen't say it because it should be understood its already a gen 5. Come on Glen!!
Glockstore possibly may be the only way to get through to old man gaston, the people want a 26 size slide and a 19 size grip optics ready with a pic rail
Once you turned it into a G17, why does the frame not go the full length of the slide? In other words, the slide still protrudes from the frame on you converted G17 in this video.
Just one thing. Both the Glock 49 and 45 use Gen 5 Glock 19 recoil systems and locking lugs. Because of this, the Glock 49 slide cannot fit onto Glock 17 frames. Only frames that utilize 19 length recoil systems. The Long side and long frame configuration you get form mixing the two matches that of the Glock 47.
I purchased a 19gen3 and a 17gen4 years ago and I still have both of them. I won’t buy another Glock until they do something really different…..not just swapping frames, slides etc. They are really starting to bore the shit out of me and apparently others too. 😢
So they finally did what people have been begging for, for 20+ years. My first pistol was a Gen3 G17 I got used and then put 10k+ rounds through. I loved that pistol. But after firing an M&P 2.0 with Timney trigger, I couldn't go back to glock.
People have been putting 17 slides on 19 frames for a while now. Pretty sure PSA makes a Glock clone exactly like that. It's a good CCW if you're comfortable concealing a G19 already.
About five years back, I went with the M&P 2.0 compact. I could make the grip into a full size with a sleeve that fits over the mag making it seemless. Basically I have a weapon that's the size of a G45. I would transition back to Glock if they would actually innovate with such a simple adaptation. Oh, and put the frakkin finger grooves back on the darn things!
@@DannyBashy yah I know. I just don't like the darn things. I had them on my first and second duty's. Then Glock came along with the finger grooves and it was just right.
Confused! Why not a chaisee system in the next Gen Glock (Gen. 6) with at least three lowers, 2 or three barrels, ONE common Slide and instead of back straps (which I have never used), introduce front straps with groves, like Gen 3 and without grooves. Beleive it or not, the grip is controlled from the front with all the 3 fingers and not from the back..
To little to late for me, I think. Personally I’d go for a 19 with the ramjet. These new models are a little confusing too. I think technically the 49 uses the 47 slide. Which is a 17 length slide but using the 19/45 recoil spring assembly. Though I could be off because Glock loves to make sense.

I guess im a glock fanboy because I loved legos as a kid,im an electrician by trade that mostly builds new 200A,400A home Meterbase services and the occasional 277v,480v 3phase commercial panels.Glocks and how they are so interchangeable just seem to fit my life and my OCD lol...god bless, and stay safe everybody!!

Your wallet is looking lighter already… It’s just too easy to buy and build them… I swore I just wanted one. Ask me how I now have 7 just 2 years later… that isn’t even including all the ones I’ve sold 🤣
Your videos are very informative and helpful, 🇺🇸thank you . 🇺🇸
It's not innovative, but it's what I always wanted from Glock. I will be purchasing this gun for myself for Christmas.
can you tell me how it's not just a 48? I have a 48 and am wondering what the difference even is.
@@jorgeenchilada48 is thinner and uses single stack mags.
Get it! You'll really like it. I put Ameriglo night sights on mine, and it's perfect.
2:25 the EDC mag well covers the half moon cut out that serves a purpose of being able to easily remove a mag if it gets stuck
Even Lenny finds the humor in all this. But starting out, these are two excellent versions to get yourself for the flexibility.
OR - just buy something that's not a repackaging of the same thing with a new model #. Or don't. Idc.
@@TexCen I agree, however this solves the compatibility issue that Glock created long ago by not being able to swap the uppers on the 19 and 17.
Thank God! Buying a $5 slide adapter or a $ 10.00 magazine extension was so hard and expensive.
Wow so innovative, I hope other companies who have been able to do this for years catch up.
Why innovate when idiots will buy the same gun every year and be amazed by it fkn fanbois are dumb
AIWB carrier...without a thumb safety I stopped carrying a Glock. SIG, Springfield, Taurus, SW....all have that option. Get with it Glock.
Wouldn't a striker control device suit your need for that ? I mean it would and it does , but I'd be curious to hear what you don't like about it.
There's a video on here I saw the other day a guy cut the 19x frame down making it a 26 sized frame with the 19x slide lol
Geez.
@neilaxelrod5872 all glock sights are 🗑
@@coreysharp9794 yes I agree. My comment was facetious. 🙂
@neilaxelrod5872 I kinda got that vibe, but there are glock boys that say the same 😂. In my mind all I could hear is sig
I'm excited about this handgun. I still want them to release the 46 here to the states though.
The 46 is the gun we're all actually excited for!
Sold!! Im definitely getting one! Thanks Lenny!! Thank you for sharing and God bless brother!
not bad. thanks for always hooking us up with content Lenny 💪
Don't for get a barrel change, same .40 mags and you get a 31 or 32 in 357 sig
@@UnbeatenPath1 or go aftermarket with a .357 Sig barrel on a G35.
I have been asking for this since the 19x announcement. Thanks Glock!
There goes Glock innovating again.
this is exactly why I switched to sig. glock hasn't done anything interesting since the MOS line. everything else is "we put the whatever slide on the whatever frame! look it's new!"
@@waholoopesorry74amen
@waholoopesorry74 Polymer frame striker fired "technology" is NOT rocket science. There's a very sizeable list of guns from other manufacturers that are every bit as reliable and simple to use and maintain as a Glock. I lost count after 200,000 rounds I've put through Glocks so I can say I know a thing or two about them. One thing I know for certain is they are not perfect. I've had several over the years that had issues right out of the box or shortly thereafter.
@@carbonking53what do you recommend as a Glock 45/19x competitor from a different brand
Ive had one of these, with a threaded barrel, for 5 years. Thanks to brownells.
I have Glock 45 and Glock 47 MOS these two can also swap out slides with lowers. Glock 49 would be nice IDPA gun. I run the Glock 45 in IDPA as the Mags hold 17 and just down load to the 15 round limit.
Superb!!!! Thank you, Glock, and GlockStore!
Been waiting for something like this finally
I’ve been able do this with my P-10 F & C since they came out in 2017 (I bought them in 2018). It only took Glock 6 years to catch up.
too bad nobody cares about the P10.

Thank you for the video but this one is a hard no. What's next, a G17 that shoots 45 GAP if you wave a magic wand over it? Hope to meet you in the store someday.
The glock 49 is also better than the 45 at appendix carry due to less material in the grip, which is hardest part to hide while appendix carrying.
dude. 4/10 of an inch. seriously? what are you, a toothpick?
@@cluckbent6466 its almost 1.5inches different not 4/10th of an inch. I own the G19 and G17 gen 5, its a very noticeable difference. I am not a toothpick either. 6' and 210lbs.

Looking forward to the Glock 72 a G26 frame with a G17L slide.
Lenny technically the controls aren’t ambidextrous because you have to reverse the magazine release as it is not on both sides like the slide stop.
Built my own years ago. A little "muzzle heavy" but otherwise I always thought this was a good idea.
Just used a 17 upper and 19 lower? What gens? I wondered if that would work.
No, that would have been too easy. :) I used a GST-9 lower, and a Brownell's upper specifically made to be mounted on a 19 size lower. The barrel is the same, but the slide is unique. @@sgtbear2471
This makes way more sense to me than the 19X. More concealable but with a longer sight radius.
I carried a security firm issue Glock gen 3 19 9x19mm, 6mo. 2022-2023. I'm not a huge fan of 19s in general but see why they sell so many. You get a light rail, MOS plate, longer barrel.
When is Glock making a 26L or 26x?
You can do the same thing with daggers for half the price.
Taurus came out with the G3XL a while back,,G3 slide & barrel on a G3C frame,,I really like it.Glock's version should be even better.I'm looking forward to trying the 49.
Glock is finally dong what other companies have been doing for years.
Are you going do a review on the Glock 20 Gen 5 an the Glock 20 G20SF. TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE. I WILL SEE YOU ON YOUR NEXT VIDEO.
This is what we’ve been waiting for! :)
cool aftermarket has been making these for years

I plan to get one of these soon. Great review!
Seems to me putting a magwell extension in the G49 defeats it's purpose. If like the G19,the grip is a little bit too short for your hand, you might as well just get a G17,a G19X,or a G45.
Awesome Lenny always enjoy your presentations...
slide and frame swapping is something every other polymer gun has been able to do from the get go. Walther , Canik, S&W MP , CZP series excetra all can do this
Too bad those guns aren't in this video. This is a Glock video.
Yes, but this allows you to have more customization while just buying one single gun.
@@grantorino2009shouldn't be a video. Should be implied
Assuming they don't have Gen 5 since it's the original G45 and G49 was Gen 5.
Does this mean that someone with a 19 and a 17 could have made a 49 before it came to market?
No, The 17 slide on the 19 frame will wreak havoc of your sanity when you try to pull them apart.
Yes. But not with a 17, with a 47. Which of course is a 17 ,but with the recoil assembly that fits.
No, the 17 actually uses a different recoil spring that's longer than the 19 sized slides. I tried putting a 17 slide on my G45 and it got very stuck because it has too much rearward travel. All of the pistols ion this vid are made with the g19 recoil spring length, so they can swap around.
Ahh okay, makes sense
I wish Canik had more calibers to choose from and more aftermarket support but still cheaper and reliable
Dude Fr, on God lol. I'd love to see a .45 or 10mm Canik. That'd be sweet.
Glock 50 could be their 5.56 rifle.
I heard the Glock 50 is gonna be a G 43 frame and a G 34 slide with serrations inside the barrel. I can’t wait
That's because their first-generation pistols. Same with the 43, 43X, 48 45 and 47
I retired my s&w Gen 1 sigma service pistol a few years ago for a Gen 5 ,17 . The only problem I have is the stippling is like sand paper on my hand. I don't want to smooth it out because of warrants on the weapon. Other wise the pistol shoots great.
tens of thousands of rounds and my g26 gen 3 still works just fine..
Why?
Why not?

Ironically, this is the gun I wanted for almost 20 years. But now everything has moved to red dot, so sight radius doesn't matter and the Radian Ramjet provides more utility than the extra weight and velocity the 17 slide provides.
This would have been the ultimate carry gun like 15 years ago
Coincidentally, if you have a G47 and a G45 then you can swap the slides and get G45 and a G47.
If you get a 49 and 45 you can make a 19, 47 and 17. So its more like get 5 versions.
I own numerous Glocks and purchasing this 49 is the last handgun on my Christmas list
With SIG going modular and having variant grips and features by third part, GLOCK has a huge challenge.
Glockstore possibly may be the only way to get through to old man gaston, the people want a 26 size slide and a 19 size grip optics ready with a pic rail
thanks for your work and review
Once you turned it into a G17, why does the frame not go the full length of the slide? In other words, the slide still protrudes from the frame on you converted G17 in this video.
Next time I'm in Nashville, I'm gonna take you up on that invitation. That range looks sweet.
I always wanted a Glock. Finally got approved for my Premise permit. I think i will be making this first gun.
Glock needs to at the least start selling with their oem night sights already included like with the 19x.
So they finally did what people have been begging for, for 20+ years.
My first pistol was a Gen3 G17 I got used and then put 10k+ rounds through. I loved that pistol.
But after firing an M&P 2.0 with Timney trigger, I couldn't go back to glock.
very nice. I shall buy only slide for Glock 49 now and install on my Glock 19 so I have both sizes
I’m guessing since they’re interchangeable that’s why, they didn’t put Gen# it’s easier to tell if you have a “real” G19/17.
Glock 49 is basically like G47 but with a G19 frame. Same slide for G49 and G47. I have a G19 and G47, it’s basically the same change out.
People have been putting 17 slides on 19 frames for a while now. Pretty sure PSA makes a Glock clone exactly like that.
It's a good CCW if you're comfortable concealing a G19 already.
I wonder if they’re going to make one that is the length of the 34 where it can fit on 19 frame.
That’s why they make hogue grips
Why? You people are so spoiled, privileged and entitled. How do you not see it?
@@DannyBashy yah I know. I just don't like the darn things. I had them on my first and second duty's. Then Glock came along with the finger grooves and it was just right.
And that's how my G48 became a 43X MOS by way of an aftermarket upper.
So glad y’all left California
Just wish they would offer a non MOS model!
