I,m 63...Painted every thing I could all my life...Still do,in it...Air bush as well...Vary nice job...Love yur non stop stile...I do the same thing...lol..Never have trouble...yur right..Its just paint..
I've been painting cars for 15 years now. When I started I worked at a place that had really cheap product and it took sometimes 10 coats to cover the primer. Now I use Glasurit 90 line and I spray one wet coat and one effect coat and it's fully covered. I'll spray a third if trying to blend. I do agree these dark metallic greys are a tricky color to blend. They tend to get a cloudy effect happening but, that blending clear you sprayed helps a lot with that and that DV1 is like you said a really nice gun.
Brian, just want to say thanks man, I been watching your videos, I’ve always been interested in car paint, and how it’s done (especially blending, and those tri-coats), and you break it down so well, I’ve learned a lot from watching, and this is what I love about youtube - good people, sharing some knowledge and having good times along the way - and I’m so far away in Western Australia, watching some quality work going down on the other side of the world 👍👍
Keep up the awesome work! I definitely get many tips and pointers from your videos. I’m new to the game and picked up a lot from you so I appreciate it all.
Great job love watching you spray cars so I tried your technique the other day actually today on a 1954 Chevy hood keeping trigger on like your painting with a brush turned out really good give an extra coat of clear three instead of two because I don’t put too heavy of coats on when I do it just a nice wet coat really enjoyed watching some of your Serious about painting you’re absolutely correct don’t overthink it it’s just pain thank you Brian🤔
Yes I’m sitting in the toilet it’s 7:40 pm . And yes! . I’m think that you’re a good!! teacher so please doing what you doing because I’m petty sure same one also copying you! and give us a great idea !! thanks my man a lot . I’m from Salvador very nice to meet you. Very, very good job. Also I’m resident from nyc!!
I watched one last night and had to turn it off. I was thinking that it was a bit sketchy, then he pulled out a razor blade and started scraping the runs off. I'm not to your level, but I'm still learning. Thanx
getting my 95 Civic hood, trunk and quarters painted. Do you think I will have an issue getting the color to match when I have the door and fenders painted? The shop doing it says no but I like to get your opinion.
I’ve grown up of a family owned business and me being the youngest I always do things different. My brothers still don’t believe in using the microfibers but it lifts all the dirt. Use over and over I actually use two at once. One wet one dry and I keep separate from water born cleaner as well because water born and wax and grease remover don’t make well for a mix. Simple Walmart 30pack for like 10-15$ and last for months and months
Brian, Not so much in this video, but using a guide coat is required on many projects like restorations on truck bed sides or others. I have seen many use cheap flat black to Evercoat powder pad, plus SEM. Why wouldn’t a simple spray can of RED primer work as a guide coat over gray, a contrasting color? SEM can be pricey considering it’s going to be on the floor, while Evercoat fills pin holes and perhaps some fine sand scratches. Either way, they do a job to help us get the repair flat but still ends up on the floor. The stuff on the floor is part of the repair, but just curious on the contrasting primer thoughts. Thanks. I Miss the co-worker ribbing, tapping on the oil pan with a small hammer from the far un-seen side, when your buddy starts up a engine he just finished, or counting the lunchtime pickles stuck to the ceiling where a group sits to eat. 23 was our record. It all fun until someone gets mustard in their eye. :) Retired ASE Master Tech
Hey Brian, just have some paint missing on my bonnet, about an inch in diameter. I'm okay with blending the panel to a wet edge using the clear base coat & reducer. However, after the panel's colour has been completely blended, do I need to clear the whole bonnet? Could I clear only around the area and then sand and polish the edge smooth? I am thinking of using my small 70L compressor and either a wide fan airbrush or a small spray gun. Am I in the right direction or is my approach going to suck? Loving the videos btw, really helping me gain more confidence to start painting my cars.
Have you ever tried tacking with a microfiber? It's a game changer! The panel will feel smooth with a regular tack rag but if you go over it with a microfiber you can feel all the junk the tack rag missed. It has made my jobs 10 times cleaner!
I have a 2008 salsa red 4runne. I'm getting the hood and driver front fender painted a quality shop like yours. Should I be concerned about the blend between the fender and the driver door?
Did you get the idea go use a micro fiber towel from motivated painters? You had mentioned his channel in a video one time and I have been suscriber since. Thanks for the video, like the new format as well.
Hi love the videos. Just had a question: What is the best way of getting rid of a tape line/ clear coat line? I bought a car and the side of it was re painted. There are clear coat lines in the door jams and there is some over spray where the fuel filler cap is. Is there a cheap/easy way or do I have to get the whole rear quarter done. How much does it roughly cost?
Hello Brian, I noticed you didn't use a paint spot blender here. Is it better NOT to use a paint spot blender VS using a paint spot blender? Great content thank you
So ru triggering it when ur spraying the base or ru holding it down to blend? I’m having problems with blending and I’m leaving like halos around the spot job when it comes to grey metallic color
Really love your videos! Really helps me with my own jobs. You use Sikkens right? What other paint systems have you used before? How does the Sikkens compare? I have been offered a Sikkens system hence the question. Cheers from Namibia!
How do you deal with chemicals? I sprays a small repair and my tongue went numb. I don't know if it was the hitek fast reducer or what because I never experienced anything like that before
Just recently started watching ur videos .. love how u blend the colors .. where did u learn ur profession ive always wanted to become a painter love the b4 and after
I’m installing a door that I pick from the junk yard, the door is a different color, in good condition, my question is how much I remove? Should I finish with 800 or 600? Thanks ahead of time.
Depends on the colour, metalic or solid? No small dents? No stone chips? If you paint over stone chips they will look like fish eyes. Otherwise, just wet sand until evenly dull. 600 for a solid colour, 1200 for a metalic.
I have a similar repair issue with my car. My question is when you sanded 800 grit on the entire panel that needed repair how deep did you sand? Did you sand all way to the primer or down to the base coat?
I bought the color code for my car its molten orange from ford, now the problem is that the red underneath the metallic looks like its to dark, what does that mean? Wrong color red or not enough metallic?
Question. I have two painters at work, one wants to blend/clear over 600, While the other wants 800. Why is this? I see you finish in 800, Is it just personal preference?
You got me. On the toilet. 😂
Bro same. Biggest smile on my face when he said it 😂😂😂

Yup! It’s what I live by
Yeah me too! With that last line is really easier to get into a project...

Hi Brian, when blending, once you apply sealer do you give it time before you apply blend
Nice work man!!!
I have a 2008 salsa red 4runne. I'm getting the hood and driver front fender painted a quality shop like yours. Should I be concerned about the blend between the fender and the driver door?
I found something... Another great video :)
You guys are awesome nice work.
What do I use if I have the Sikkens paint system as my blending additive as a wet bed can you help me out here Love your teaching videos.
Did you get the idea go use a micro fiber towel from motivated painters? You had mentioned his channel in a video one time and I have been suscriber since. Thanks for the video, like the new format as well.
Him and a few others
Off-topic, but do you have any videos on removing trim or fenders on cars prior to painting?
Good job bro.
Great series Brian

Paint Society is show ⭐
Microfiber to clean in the booth!? Gotta try that!
Very nice work .
What's up with that roll of tape ?
Do you apply clear base coat additive to the edges with every pass of colored base? Or just the first pass?
Just recently started watching ur videos .. love how u blend the colors .. where did u learn ur profession ive always wanted to become a painter love the b4 and after
Love this uncut series, man... Keep 'em comin'! [H] ❤️
Hey Brian! Just asked an FLG-5 1.4 for my Birthday :D Cheers!
Question do factory uses 2k clear or 1k?
Which you do you use?
What brand of paint does Acura uses?
Hello Brian, so that wet bed is pretty much reduced clearcoat? And it becomes dry right?
Loving the videos !!
I’ve joined the channel question where are you guys located
Awesome job 👏
Why did you use the UV primer instead of using the same grey primer ? Thanks!
Brian. Can you inform us where to locate / purchase the trim removal tool(s), please. Grazie!
I’m installing a door that I pick from the junk yard, the door is a different color, in good condition, my question is how much I remove? Should I finish with 800 or 600? Thanks ahead of time.

Can you help me? I’m trying to blend house of color some dark spots that I had. Do you have any ideas on what I could do?
Hi! Why you put clear base when yo do a fender and you dont with 2 doors? Thanks
Nice job! On your clear coat/blending additive what is the mixing ratio? Thanks Brian 👍🏼
Nice new intro!!!!!
I have a similar repair issue with my car. My question is when you sanded 800 grit on the entire panel that needed repair how deep did you sand? Did you sand all way to the primer or down to the base coat?
Just scuffed it to dull it.
Nope! I’m watching from the body shop on break 😎
Deluxe👍, 🙋🏻♂️from Panamá 🇵🇦.
bro what's the name of the paint which have small bright particles shining plzzz reply
I bought the color code for my car its molten orange from ford, now the problem is that the red underneath the metallic looks like its to dark, what does that mean? Wrong color red or not enough metallic?
Keep the good work
Excellent
Congratulations
2:15 - is it an optical illusion or does that door gap get way bigger as it goes up?
It’s an even gap
Great video! Don’t you just love Norton sandpiper? Better then 3M in my opinion.
Hi. Wasn’t Norton. It is eagle
So you did take an 800 grit to that than buffed it?
Question. I have two painters at work, one wants to blend/clear over 600, While the other wants 800. Why is this? I see you finish in 800, Is it just personal preference?
800 is better. Less of a chance or burning through and your paint will land smoothest on 800. Also will get a cleaner finish
Can I substitute clear coat for clear base On the edge of my blends?
thank you @paintsociety
Forgive my ignorance but what is 'clear blending additive'?
Bryan can you just buff clear with out sanding the clear?
you're a really cool guy.
Good video. Ladies first! Is that Dv1 your go to gun now? Great blend, looks good!
And I'm laying in bed watching you work!
For base yes
Performance red pearl new car ,hopefully match as well as you new fender to be painted and installed .very nervous about paint match .
Performance red is very tough and needs to be blended
True nob question: what exactly is in the water based cleaner?
I've noticed u lean more to the charcoal grey colors they look good...
Hi. Greeting from fellow Tinter.
Just want to know what is the code and the name of the color?
I got TCP GLOBALS "BRILLIANT SILVER FIREMIST" and it can't be blended.. Any ideas
