Marion Morrison was a draft-dodging chickenhawk and an abusive alcoholic. Soldiers booed his ass away at PFO shows till he fucked off for good. You're thinking of a completely fictional character.
Endoptic Not a draft dodger! John Wayne, born 1907, WWI 1914-1918 (Wayne age:7-11). WWII 1941-1945 (Wayne age 34-38). Korea 1950-1953 (Wayne age 43-46). His age made it so he didn't have to be drafted.
Marion Morrison was classified as 3-A for deferred for family dependency in '42. He was reclassified 1-A in '44 but wriggled out via his studio's clout. He stayed in Hollywood becoming a star instead of doing his hitch. This was known by enough soldiers to piss 'em off when he tried to play tough guy patriot right in their faces. Some even got a few hits in when he strutted about, obviously without uniform or excuse. ;D
I think Red Skelton was one of the funniest comedians on TV and never said or needed a four letter word to get a laugh, Red's saying not mine in his last day of his last series of shows on TV. I liked Benny Hill too. I do not think Red Skelton or Benny Hill has ever been replaced with anyone as funny, just as no actor has ever filled John Wayne's acting shoes. No matter what John Wayne's roll, from cowboy, to detective, to a sea captain, he was always entertaining.
"Where'd you get that cute Walk" Funnily enough, the Duke actually got many of his mannerisms, vocal inflections, and yes even his walk, from observing and copying the legendary Wyatt Earp, as John did get the chance to meet him when he was much younger.
In the late eighties I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Red Skeleton live at the Fox theater in Detroit. Wow. He did his skits, Guzzler Gin and some of his jokes. And then his sat down at a makeup table, and started telling us about his friend, Freddie. And as he talked he applied makeup. And in a few minutes you were watching Freddie the Freeloader talk about his friend Red.. All right in front of your eyes. He was, The Master.
John Wayne is my hero if he was alive now he’d be furious to see what’s happened with the government it was a down to earth person and I was really sad when he passed away but even as a kid I looked up to him I’m 63 now and I still look up to him. And he was funny kind of a dry humor he is quite a man
Don Hulbert Yeah, originally John Wayne was to play the Waco Kid and Richard Pryor was to be Black Bart. Wayne said no and Pryor couldn't get cleared for insurance because of his cocaine addiction.

Some even got a few hits in when he strutted about, obviously without uniform or excuse. ;D
Red Skelton was very funny ... and never dirty or rude. Much better than today's so called comics.
"Take the spoon out, I don't want it to happen again" lol
It’s extremely rare I laugh with literally years between. I very much enjoyed this and I actually did laugh. It was nice thank you for posting.
I sure miss both these great guys !
Nobody ever like Red Skelton! Nobody ever like John Wayne! They were True Gentlemen! RIP 🙏🙏💖💖💪💪
I miss these old, fun, and innocent variety shows.
Didn't know that John Wayne made such funny things too. It's great.
He was a great comedian could play any part never missed his show he was a true American payriot
Hello Mary, How are you doing?
One brilliantly written and presented properly funny skit.. Good telly right there.
When I was growing up Red Skeleton was my favorite show
I grew up seeing him on 📺 lets bring them back they were great.
I actually remember watching this episode.
"Where'd you get that cute Walk" Funnily enough, the Duke actually got many of his mannerisms, vocal inflections, and yes even his walk, from observing and copying the legendary Wyatt Earp, as John did get the chance to meet him when he was much younger.
John Wayne was the best actor and cowboy that ever lived.REdSleton was a great commidean and a most love able man.God BLess them both.
Hello Madonna, How are you doing?
In the late eighties I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Red Skeleton live at the Fox theater in Detroit. Wow. He did his skits, Guzzler Gin and some of his jokes. And then his sat down at a makeup table, and started telling us about his friend, Freddie. And as he talked he applied makeup. And in a few minutes you were watching Freddie the Freeloader talk about his friend Red.. All right in front of your eyes. He was, The Master.
THANKS FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO. I WAS RAISED ON BOTH ENTERTAINERS, AND JOHN WAYNE WAS THE BEST AT WHAT HE DID.
Red Skeleton was in a class by himself. John Wayne wasnt only a good actor he had a wicked sense of humor too.
John Wayne is my hero if he was alive now he’d be furious to see what’s happened with the government it was a down to earth person and I was really sad when he passed away but even as a kid I looked up to him I’m 63 now and I still look up to him. And he was funny kind of a dry humor he is quite a man
👍👍👍yep he was a good man he loved this country
Red's exaggerated nod to the audience cracked me up! My dad & I didn't miss a show when I was a young pup.
Funny how he has to look at the cue card for his next line! Funny funny stuff. Even the risqué lines.
It don't get better than John Wayne & Red Skelton!
I just love this skit!
They were hysterical together. John Wayne had quite a touch for deadpan comedy.
+Don Hulbert Mel Brooks wanted Wayne to star in Blazing Saddles but he turned him down. Such a pity.
Didn't know that! You're right, it's a shame.
Don Hulbert Yeah, originally John Wayne was to play the Waco Kid and Richard Pryor was to be Black Bart. Wayne said no and Pryor couldn't get cleared for insurance because of his cocaine addiction.
+John Smith As Mel tells it, Wayne told him, "Aw, no, I--I couldn't be in a movie like that, but...I'll be first in line to see it!"
Richard was one of the writers for the movie though.
