Andrew myers, thank you. This is exactly what happened to me. Before I retired I walked into a dealership in Arlington area in jacksonville, Florida. It was turning dark. I just arrived in the dealership. The gray headed man ask me what I wanted. I said I wanted to look at cars. He said "where do you work"? I told him. I'll never forget. He said "you can't afford it". I turned around and went back to my car and left and went home. In fact, I could afford it. I can't tell you how he made me feel. I ended up purchasing a new car from another dealership. They lost a lot of money that day simply from disrespect. Guess who won? I'm sure the Owner would have been well pleased with that salesman, right? NOT .. I was happy I didn't purchase from that dealership. Never went back to say the least . . Thank you for your respect. I'll buy from YOU.

Well. If a person an imp or demon, he will treat other with hate. If a person is Angel, or Arch-Angel, he will treat with Love. Human body is just a body - costume. Mind is a Control Panel and some storage. Body - instrument to Act. Simple.

Yes!!! Disrespect is a dish not enjoyed when the tables are turned. ALL People should be treated with respect and how you want to be treated. Power often goes to those in powers head. When others seek to treat others fairly we all benefit... The only bad part is they will get a job somewhere else, to do the same thing to someone else... Everyone is of value and should be treated with respect...

I can tell you of the real story and it was in the UK with an elderly gentleman who walked into a Morris dealership and wanted to order a large number of pickup UK does not call them pickup trucks, just pickups will do). The salesman treated the man with near disdain and sent him off to the Ford dealership as, "he knew they had loads in stock as they do not sell them very often". The gentleman did visit the Ford showroom and signed up for a large number of pickups and asked the salesman to take over a copy of his order from The 600 Group, a massive UK trucking company. I would have liked to have seen the salesman's face when he realised what he had done!

One time, long ago, I started a new job at a dealership and the sales Mgr told me of a story about a customer was badly dressed, but interested in buying a car. Only one sales person took the time to help him, the others ignored him, and the customer bought not one, but three new Mercedes and the sales person made a very good commission. Never judge a book by it’s cover.

  • @davidsmith8728

Talking about judging a book by its cover reminds me of a similar case locally. We live near the coast. Quite a few years ago, a young man, who was in the area for a year studying for his future role, saw a little cottage - nothing special but it was just what he wanted and suited him ideally. Since then, the property prices have gone through the roof. The cottages either side of him have been purchased by snooty couples from London - weekenders. They judge people by the car they drive, the clothes they wear. They have thus judged their neighbour and found him wnating. His car is not new and flashy, but it gets him around. He prefers comfortable clothes rather than the current fashions. As a result, his neighbours ignore him. The young man has moved on and is now fully engaged in the role for which he was training. He uses the seaside cottage as often as he can - for the peace and quiet, the fresh air and the open space of the coast. What his neighbours don't know is that, since he bought the house, his father has sadly died. The young man has inherited his father's estate - the main house is well over 100 rooms, it sits on about 20,000 acres of land and he has inherited his father's title - he is a Duke. If his neighbours knew that, they would absolutely shit themselves. The moral is clear.

Andrew is right, in a professional job or in any other place everyone must understand to treat people respect, humility, and kindness to others and never judge them by their appearance, age, or anyone who couldn’t afford. That is why Thomas and Garret lost their job for their horrible attitude and bad reputation to the dealership. However, Laura is happy to become the new manager because Andrew was proud of her and she always gives him a positive attitude.

UA-cam should have a policy of requiring posters to disclose if their stories are true or fictional
Care dealers are franchises and require approval by the car maker. You can't just buy it from the
dealer without the manufacturer's approval. And they require the applicant provide a lot of info
before any transfer can be approve. And that doesn't happen in 1 day.

This is not fake. Happens a lot. My brother is a little heavy with baggy clothes and in jeans and he goes into a dealership looking to buy a new car. He saved a long time for a new car right off the showroom floor. A local dealer couldn't be bothered with him in scruffy Levi's. Waited 25 minutes. Then he went to a dealer 25 miles out of town and bought what he wanted. There was a small problem with the power antenna, so he took it to the local dealer for the repair. When it was in their shop, the owner came walking through. He saw the new car sticker and asked my brother why he didn't buy from him. He told the owner of the dealership that he gave him first chance, but nobody would help. The dealer said, you show me who wouldn't help you and I will fire them. My brother said you'd have to fire the whole sales staff. They were all standing around telling jokes. DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER. My brother could have two new cars that day, and paid cash. The dealer did take excellent care of my brother when he was in his shop. That Monday sales meeting might have been interesting to see. The dealer he bought from was in a farming community. He knew those farmers who wear scruffy old Levi's have money up a wahzoo. He didn't judge and he got the sale.

My dad had the cash to purchase a car brand new and because we weren't "dressed" due to "exclusive" nature of the dealership, back then, an Acura dealer, when we asked the salesman what would be the true cost of the vehicle was and the response we got was "you can see the window sticker can't you"?

In 2009 I was hired to design and build a $6 million home for this couple (an older surfer-beach type man and his petite Thai wife) both were low key down to earth people who no one would know they were worth over $200 million. And I was also low key drove a truck, looked like a construction worker (I was). When we started shopping for things for the house we would be treated like we were in the wrong place or lost. When we looked at high end expensive things for the house we’d be ignored or giggled at that we would even be looking at such things. But everything would change when it came down to purchasing and she’d put down her black American Express card and they’d run it thru then they’d be all kiss ass to us as we just purchased a bunch of high end things. And wanted it delivered. We’d both laugh at the quick change of behavior as we left and got in my truck

Sounds like Cape Breton Hyundai when I took my 2 year old Santa Fe for an oil change. I wanted to test drive an electric car and they put me off, told me that they sell hundreds of gas cars for every electric. Still I might well have been in the market that day, they completely put me off! Though I like my Santa Fe I will never buy another Hyundai, and yes it is the dealer that made up my mind! I will keep telling this because they made up their minds they had sold me a Santa Fe and I could not afford another. And yes I was dressed casual, but stylish casual. Good clothes!

I enjoyed this. I wonder if any Americans who agree about the importance of kindness and respect would stand up to Donald J. Trump. To his disrespecting America's continental neighbors, his showing such great disrespect to both Canada and to Mexico. His Calling Canada an American State although sovereign since 1867. It is ironic that Donald Trump's father bought his university degree while the President of Mexico and the Prime Minister of Canada earned their education with hard work. Justin Trudeau is Jesuit educated McGill University and Conservatives in Canada & America have only showed him their disrespect and complete ignorance. I say this because being respectful is not about belief and not about a political party. What this man was addressing is the universal need to treat people as you would like to be treated. To treat everyone as a good neighbor and believe in the good neighbor policy. For real Christians it is about what Jesus would do. I hope someone reads this, and I hope some will amend their lives, the way they are with all other people. God bless you from Canada.

I don't believe the authenticity of the story although the morality of the message is worthy. The narrator said Andrew was NOT out for revenge....but he bought a dealership to correct their underlying values? We all have a choice on HOW we react to anything including criticism or elitism. Mastering nonreactivity and practicing acceptance is far more powerful than purchasing a dealership to clean-up it's values. Then again, this is a more difficult story to tell.
