My first car, back in 1985, was a 1975 Pinto wagon. I did a lot of camping back then. The back seats folded down flat, making the entire back, behind the front bucket seats, the same height. I cut a piece of foam rubber and carpet to fit the space. My dog and I slept in the back. I also took out the front bucket seat and used that space for my cooler and a few other items. I never thought about making a "shelf" so that I could store things underneath. Great build for your stealth camping.
I came over from Jason's channel. You have an awesome family. Love following you all.

Before I had internet at home, I would park outside the local library and use their wifi. They usually run the wifi internet 24/7...at least in WA state. And you don't need to be a library card holder to use it, but having a library card is a good thing, if you're going to be in an area for a long time.
Matt, if you get to WA, you should check out the Olympic National Park and the Hoh Rain Forest. Out along the NW coast of WA there are some really great places to explore...Lake Crescent, Lake Ozette, Cape Alava and the Native American archeological site, Kalaloch beach. It a truly beautiful area. You have to hike out to Cape Alava, but it's a pretty easy hike and that's where the archeological site is. There's also a huge Spruce tree that hangs/grows over the edge of a cut in the land near Kalaloch. There's lots to see in WA state. We have every terrain you can imagine...ocean, mountains, rain forest, alpine forest, high desert, rolling plains, lots of interesting geology.
I'm guessing that you can tell that I've lived in WA most of my life. I spent part of a year in the Jefferson/Tyler/Marshall TX area too. Beautiful country down there as well.

looks good guys... might want to move it over to the passenger side so you're not blocking the adjusting of the driver seat and you can keep things you use most next to that door for easy access instead of walking all the way around the car.. just and idea.. looks good tho.. love 2 bothers working together.. love love love it!!

Matt, for safety reasons, I would suggest that, at night while you are sleeping, you might want to move that gas can up on the floorboard in front of the front seat and crack the window just a little, just enough to avoid having fumes build up inside. As it is, if you should accidentally kick it in your sleep, you could potentially have a huge problem. And inhaled gas fumes can do a real job on your lungs.

Hay Matt I LOVE the idea of you traveling to see our country. I encourage all my kids to do the same. I live in Aztec NM, and I am surrounded by Indian ruins. I also have a National Park Pass so I can get you in to most of them for free! I would love to have you come stay here a night or two and show you some cool sites. We can light a campfire and drink a few beers and talk about your next adventures.

Looks like a good build. If you could put some items on your roof rack, fishing equipment, things you will rotate down(clothes, toiletpaper/papertowels, extra boots/shoes) you would give yourself more room to move around. Home Depot and Lowes sells roof top hard lockable containers at reasonable prices. Pick up some tarps and bungees so you can expand your vehicle when you boondock or campground, if you dont have a tent stowed in there somewhere. Looking forward to your videos and your adventures. Stay safe.

My youngest brother had a very serious heart attack a couple of years ago and suffered brain injury due to no blood circulation till they got his heart running again. But I will always remember the three of us young again. Funny how life goes!

Another youtuber did this in her SUV but bed was on other side cause front seat can be moved forward. Then had totes that slid under for storage. More ideas can be found if you search camping and RVing in your car. There are a few videos of different ways of doing it if interested. Plenty of time to rearrange or redo it along the way as you figure out what works best for you. Good luck and God's blessings to you on your journeys.

My setup is a Ford Ranger with a topper. Bed and topper are carpeted. I use a Walmart air mattress with a foam egg crate on top of the mattress. Need to build a similar raised set up like yours, so I have more storage.
I have an inverter to run a heater, and a coffee pot. It will also run a hot plate for a time, but I normally use a propane stove for my cooking. I also have a Dometic 12 volt fridge, to keep my perishables cold.
And an emergency jump box, just in case the draw on my batteries gets low. I need to get a solar panel on the roof, and a couple of marine grade deep cycle batteries, wired to charge while I'm driving.
LOL, so many plans, so little money.

Hello! Matt & Jason 👋😆💜📹👍. Just my opinion, but, I would have put the bed on the passenger side so you would be better protected in case you have to slam on the brakes or someone hit your vehicle, that way the plywood bed wouldn't get jammed into the back of the drivers seat. But Good Lord willing, you will have a fun & safe journey. Regardless, you did a great job building and organizing everything. Thanks Jason for fixing up Matt's suv". God Bless Each of You".

Matt some years ago my husband and I took a 3 wks motorcycle trip from Florida to California and up into Washington State. We camped most of the way. But before we left Florida we bought a pass to all the Federal State parks . it was much cheaper that way and in some instances they had camping not far from the parks plus these places had showers. We did that every year for 10 years having different destinations each year. Great fun and a wonderful way to travel when its warmer weather.

The standard thinking with a bed like that is... The low ceiling height means you (he) won't work on the computer or watch movies there. It'd be more comfortable to use the passenger seat. Expect that when designing, and it'll save you a little time. What a nice little project!

Just an idea, planet fitness gym is $10 a month. You could shower and work out.
    They are nation wide.

That's a great idea ---does the membership cover all locations?

The membership would need to be upgraded so you have access to Planet Fitness in every state. The cost of that membership is $22.00 a month. In California the beaches have showers for free.

@@bethteer1509 to use all locations throughtout the country...It's $22.00 a month, which is still a great deal.
I just want to make sure the correct info is out there. The $10.00 membership a month is only for your local location.
Also there is a small sign up fee of about $30.00 but they run specials all the time. I think right now it's only .25 cnets down. Still a great solution for people traveling.
